This Park corresponds to the category of State park.
Great state park! Lots to do! The hike was awesome! The bathrooms are clean. The staff is very informative and sweet! Would come here again!
We love our State Parks. This was our 13th and was a very pleasant and awesome experience. Started the day with great boat tour led by the very knowledgeable and friendly Ranger Steve and had lunch with a view of the swimming area. Later went on a hike and saw the waterfall. This is a wonderful and quiet park and can't wait to come back to camp or cabin.
Really enjoyed staying here with scouts. The hike to the waterfall is great!
Nice walk in the woods and pretty water pictures
Very nice Rustic Cabin. Very clean. Beautiful park. Lots of places to kayak and swim. Park is relatively small which keeps it from being crowded with people, we will definitely be going back.
Lake Catherine State Park. This park is deep in hills of Arkansas 12 miles from HWY 30, take exit 97 to hwy 171 all the way to the VC. Those 12 miles are winding and narrow. This is an older park and you must come to the visitor center to check in. The Visitor Center is stocked with all the essentials you will need if you forgot something to include bags of Ice at a premium of $3.00 Once you check in and pay you must make a U turn and go back the way you came in. FYI.....(If you have a large RV or trailer, disconnect at the visitor center and take your car into the campground to find the best way of getting your rig parked) Make a left at the stop sign and proceed up a very narrow road to the campground. On the right side is Camp area A which is down and up a hill and designed for trailers or 5th wheels but not RV’s. Very steep exiting. We were given instructions to make the 2nd right and follow the road around to our site and #49 camp area C. We are in a 40 foot RV and there was no way we could of backed in coming from that direction. Went back to the VC and asked if we could move to a different site. The camp Ranger came out of her office and stated to take the 3rd right between camp site #14-15 and come on around. This park has very few sites that will accommodate large RV 40ft and over. Site #40 was also a good site. Since I made this reservation online I called the campground, just to make sure that our original site #54 would handle our large rig. They said no and moved us to site #49 which was perfect. The campsites in camp area C are large for the most part and have a picnic table and two grills and a large pad/gravel area to hangout with friends or family. Sites #40-49 with the exception of site #42 are all really good sites for large RV’s. They are not level and and most have some slope to the site so come prepared with your wood or jacks. This park is very tricky, as when you get into the sites at 55, 56 etc...and on the right side you can back in but you will have to go around the culdesac to exit the park. The lake is nice and I’m sure durning high season this SP stays busy. The road in the campground is old and has lots of pot holes and ripples. Camp Area B really needs a lot of attention and looks to be the oldest part of the park. There are trails and one of the trails goes to a water fall, but when we were here in Sept the water fall was just a trickle. There was a fire band due to how dry the conditions in the park. There is a small beach and boat marina if you need to rent a boat etc. Since you are so far way from everything, make sure you have your meals and food ready to go. Hot Springs is about 40 minutes away. This is a must see with the National Park Bath House. There is a great museum that is free to the public. They do have guided tours. You can spend the whole day at Quapaw Baths & Spa for only $20.98. If you have the America the Beautiful pass is half off. That was a treat for sure.
Don't camp out any more, but love to drive through them, with eye on possibilities. Super campsites, very attractive and spacious. Even have yurts!
Great accommodations at a gorgeous venue! The yurt is super cool and affordable.
Such a beautiful place, with so much to do. Swimming, canoeing, hiking. So gorgeous.
Very beautiful, family fun activities. You can rent party barge, fishing barge, flat boats, peddle boat family or single rider, waterfall that you can swim in, several trails, horseback riding, you can reserve a very cool informative 1 hr ride on the lake free of charge, there's a playground for the kids and deer roaming free.
Great place to fish, rent paddle boats, kayaking, hiking to the waterfall. Camping cabin rentals and a swim beach! They also have boat rentals! Staff is very friendly and helpful!
Awesome scenery, sandy beach swwimming area, marina has everything. Rent paddle boats and kayaks. Lots of camping sites and picnic areas. Next time were renting a cabin! Awesome.
The lake was dirty. Trash and oily. Seems there is some kind of industrial plant on the lake We did not swim here.
Love going here usually but our last trip was terrible. Bathrooms were disgusting . There were dirty diapers everywhere and tampons floating in the swimming area
Nice place. Nice people. Nice bathrooms. Nice raccoon. Nice armadillo.
Nice hike to a cute waterfall. Nice surroundings.
We had fun. The easy hiking trail was not-so-easy.
Absolutely the most well maintained RV/camping park I have ever stayed in. Hands down! We stayed in a yurt. It was so nice! A queen bed with full size bunk beds. A mini fridge and microwave. The ideal "glamping" spot. A heated swimming pool. Beautiful lake side RV and camping spots with canoe, kayak and pontoon boat rentals. Zip lines and an aerial obstical course. Bathrooms are super clean, huge, and heated/cooled.
Its a great place to take the family and if u like to go on little hikes u can hike to the waterfall.
The lake had A LOT of moss, but the beach was clean. The bathrooms were in good order and we had tons of fun
This park was really nice, clean and our site #10 was roomy. We had a 30’ travel trailer. The folks working there were friendly and helpful. My kids ran into a snag with their rental trailer. Beware of American RV Rentals there in Hot Springs. Very poor customer service. We asked for a smoke-free trailer, but the one we got smelled badly of smoke. The owner yelled at us, refused to bring another trailer, and said no refunds no matter what (that’s in the contract). When we said we couldn’t stay in it because we have an infant, he said fine he would take the keys. He did and left the trailer for the 3 days we had rented it. So we couldn’t use it even if we had wanted to and couldn’t get a refund for the campsite. Kids wound up in a hotel The park however is great. Would definitely stay again!
Came with family in June, and stayed in cabins on lake. Cabins and lake are absolutely gorgeous. While waiting for room to be ready, we went swimming in lake, (which had a soft beach), and thought that would be the highlight. But being able to fish right off porch and cook and relax in cabin was amazing. Totally worth money. Cannot recommend enough!
Awsome we ended up parking the boat on a inland and going swimming in a nice ice cold lake but I cant say anything bad about the boat rental or the lake that's what we went for sorry no info on the cabins or anything else I hope you have a good time during your visit
Great place to hike and swim and rent some Kayaks/boats but if you're going to swim make sure it's pretty hot outside because the water is pretty cold
Clean, completely furnished cabins (except good and beverages ). Beautiful srttings. Easy access to boat ramps and dock as well as lots of nature oriented activities availat.
Park is very very cleaning nice people were very friendly nice clean water just a nice place to take the family
Great place. Krista whom works in the visitor center was awesome.
Nice, accommodating. Enjoyed my time here. I would come again.
Such a beautiful place. My family and I had such a great time and will definitely return.
Went to do some trail running around 2:00 on a Sunday. There was plenty of parking and the trailheads were adequately marked and free of litter. I hiked/jogged the Horseshoe Trail, which has a great incline for the first half and an easy downhill on the last part. I only saw one or two more people, but didn't have a hard time staying on track. If you branch away 3/4 of the way down you will hit the creek and the waterfalls. The falls were definitely worth seeing, but they were very crowded and there were young children jumping off the rocks into the water. Overall, it was a great hike. I wouldn't reccomend for beginners. From what I saw of the park, it was very well maintained.
I love it but the water wasnt warm enough
Had a great time horse back riding!
This is a fantastic state park. RV sites are excellent, some are waterfront with private pier.
Just went for a quick pic nik. Nice and clean!! Very well maintained.
Wonderful cabins they have got. I stayed in cabin 18. They have a bedroom with two queen beds, a sofa, a dining table with chairs. Bathroom has toiletries and kitchen has all pots and pans. U don't have to carry bed sheets and pillows as they have manyn
Pretty good place and cabins are really nice! make sure to fill up your gas tank or you have to drive 30 minutes before you get any gas station. we stayed in cabin number 9 right by the lake , pretty much all the cabins have balcony with the lake view, only down side for this cabin is that door in the living area has no lock and whoever is staying next to you can come in. dont think its a good spot for fishing but heard few people catch some
Who don't love the water .. lots of room to swim, hike, float,an a peer u can jump off .. also great fishing spot just walk round lake
Terrific Park. No entrance fees. Great facilities. Nice trails.
It's a pretty place but swimming are allows dogs to swim in the same place not a place to allow your pets to swim
Beautiful and well-maintained park. Friendly & helpful ladies at the Visitor Center, which also had lots of resources and maps.
Absolutely loved Lake Catherine State Park. The hiking trails in summer may seem like not such a good idea, but getting to that beautiful waterfall towards the end makes it worth it, no doubt. The trails are marked so You hopefully don't get lost lol. Me and my Girlfriend went on a trail, and enjoyed it immensely. I recommend This State Park to everyone.
Beautiful scenery and quite. We stayed in lot 29 in b-lot. No sewer hook ups but there is a dump station. Need long water hose for fresh water. Also lot 29 will need plenty of blocks to level your r.v. we did not bring enough. Had to set the tongue right on the ground and still wasn't level. Hiking was good. Lake was nice and cool. Will be back!
Cannot say enough about this place. I grew up coming here and recently got to hike one of the trails again. The waterfall is just gorgeous and camping here is always a blast. This place will always be special to me and I believe anybody who comes here will find it memorable. Nice facilities, lots of wildlife and peaceful nature.
Beautiful place, great hiking trails, awesome waterfall that is easy to get to.
Amazing Drive from Little Rock and my great neice wanted to do some horseback riding also went to visitor center for magnets and shot glasses!!
We loved it.lots of wildlife.great lake.great folks that run the facilitys.thanks for the great time! Cant wait to come back!
We took a short trip to Hot Springs and went walking/hiking in the Lake Catherine State Park. We all enjoyed the walk and the kids loved the adventure.
Another great annual trip & stay. Only downside, the firewood this year was too wet & wouldn't burn. We had even brought our own fire starter this year from lessons learned & still no go. Otherwise, great as always!
Have been going to Lake Catherine for years. Best place to relax and enjoy nature.
Very nice park on a beautiful lake.
Beautiful place not far off I-30 to relax, boat and swim.
Beautiful park with everything from cabins to primitive camping.
Love renting a flat bottom boat and wheeling through the open water!
Beautiful place to camp, hike and boat. We will definitely be back again and again!
Nice state park with swimming beach. Loved that park does not have an admission fee.
Great little park. Very pretty. Nice lake.
A favorite getaway location for our family is at the cabins. Facilities are always clean. Cabins have a kitchenette with all of the utensils needed to prepare family meals. Nothing fancy, but they get the job done. (Bring your own sharp knife, theirs are kid friendly dull.) Cabin 4 is dog friendly with your own private dock. So relaxing.
Really awesome generally and great places to hike. The power plant in our view across the lake wasn't prime, but that's probably not the park's fault.
Always a fun place to visit in summer.
Really nice trails. There are 3 walks that you can do. See picture. The waterfall was freezing but it was still hot outside at the beginning of June so the swimming was wonderful.
Very pretty place, hiking trails are good and not over the top hard.
The park and views are incredible, only thing I could do without is the swimming area. It's very dirty.
We went camping and had one og the best experiences. Clean and safe sites with as many conveniences as you choose to have. If you have forgotten something there are places to grab what you need about 15 minutes from the park.
Nice rv sites. Pretty park and lake. Attentive rangers and camp hosts. Lacking laundry if you need that.
All that you could ask for from a state park - free to enter, free swim area, playground, camping, fishing piers, cabin, kayak and boat rentals. Swimming area is perfect for kids, I just recommend bringing swim shoes because the sand is really harsh.
Nice trails of varying distances and degrees of difficulty. Great scenery!
Really nice trails. Bathrooms were nice and clean also.
Some of the best hiking trails in the Hot Springs area!
My family and I had a great time camping at Lake Catherine. Overall the park was clean and easily accessible. Some of the public use facilities were dated compared to some other state parks we've visited but I would recommend it otherwise.
Beautiful park. We go to hike the trail and swim in the swimming area. We have rented kaysks before also. They have camping and cabins to rent. The trails have beautiful views and leads to waterfall. If you hike in warm weather there will probably be kids in the fall. Make sure to go after a rain so there is more water.
The beach wass clean and sandy. The water was so relaxing
Camped here for 2 nights. Park is clean and well kept. Had lots of fun. Look out for ticks though!
Hiking trails, camping and picnic areas well cared for great outdoor living
its 1 of the safest. clean. family oriented places iv ever spent time. me n my family go here several times every year n i would recommend it to n e 1
Was a great swimming spot with family atmosphere!
This place is really pretty has a lot of hiking trails. It has a lot of beautiful places to camp. Has a huge lake if you like to fish or swim in the summer.
Peaceful and easy hike. Photos is from the falls trail
This park was amazing for the price. The sites were very large with easy hookups to sewer and water. My only complaint is that the lake has a power plant across from the park which can be an eyesore. What pushed this from a 4 Star Park to a 5 Star is the hiking. The trails were right off the park and had amazing views. The waterfall, rivers, and wildlife could not be any better and was part of staying in the park. Will be back for sure and the rate was great.
One of the nicest State Parks we have stayed. We originally were staying for four days and extended our stay for a week. So much to do in the area and the Park was very convenient to get to these places. Exceptional staff. Very quiet and relaxing park. We stayed in Site 58 which is on the water. Has 50 amp and sewer.
Friendly staff, clean facilities, and great campsites! Easy to get lost on the yellow trail as some of the markers are missing and it is not as well maintained as the red trail. If the longer trails were better maintained I would give 5 stars.
I went here with my mom, her friend and her friend’s kids. The swimming hole was great! The water fall is very peaceful too.
Beautiful, well maintained state park. The waterfall hike is short enough for kids and grandparents. Swimming area, cabins, rv sites camp store and activities are all great. There is also a horse riding stable just outside the park.
I like this place good place to swim and go tubing and go kayak. This place has a bbq grill where you can bbq and change rooms. Beautiful place.
Cabins were great. Had fun on the lake.
They have some nice hiking trails but the waterfalls will be dried up if dry weather.
Great hiking choices for all levels.
I have been going to lake Catherine for 20 plus years have watch the park improve for the better it's such a beautiful place to go to.. The cabins are a bit expensive they use to be under hundred dollars.. But all in all it's a great quite place to go to..
Waterfall area was great. Main swimming area not so much Blaring mexican disco music and an extremely overcrowded beach area made me feel like I was in Mexico instead of arkansas on 4th of July. While the facilities looked nice once inside they were disgusting.the whole place had been destroyed. Water??, Mud, and toilet paper everywhere. On the floor, walls, sinks, everywhere!! The whole place smelled like piss. It was very disappointing.
The cabins are great, we love staying here. My wife and I stayed here the weekend we got engaged and it was perfect waking up with a beautiful lake view.
Great state park with full hook-up camping and nice sites.
Beautiful beautiful beautiful!!!! Easy trails and cold clear waterfall to swim under in the summer sun!!
It's so nice here and the camping spots look good all the time
Guilty until proven innocent. The park rangers are more caught up in trying to catch criminals from people on vacation, and not willing to assist the visiting guest in locating different parts of the park. CARRY A BIG GUN AND MAKE GUEST FEEL VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. The park will remain popular and would have received 5 alone. Beautiful waterfall and trail through the mountains.
Had a great experience, very quiet and clean. Water and power hookups are on opposite sides of asphalt pad, will need long water hose
Camped here in the 70s, 80s, and 90s and loved every minute! Was sad when we got setup because we had to clean up our campsite - including other dogs’ poop! We are very conscientious about making sure when we leave a campground that our presence is no where to be found - it’s sad that others don’t feel the same way!
We absolutely loved these trails.
Lake Catherine was so beautiful when we visited that I'm ready for a vacation so I could go back, rent a cabin and relax.
Beautiful, shady, will come back, hopefully
Nice scenic campground with good views of the lake. Shower houses are decent as are the bathrooms. Visitors center sells firewood and has a gift shop. There are a couple nice shorter hikes one has a nice waterfall. Our camp spot had water and electric. You needed a long water hose for pur spot. Camp spots are spread out fairly well too.
Trails! I have lived near enough most of my life that I grew up hiking the trails with my father and brother. It has always been clean and well maintained. The natural beauty of Arkansas stands out extremely well and I have often seen wildlife on and around the paths. I have never camped using the facility here however my family has and they always talk highly of the area. There is plenty to do and a lot to learn if you pay attention.
Highly recommend the Falls Branch trail - especially after a rain. A large section of the trail follows a pretty creek that culminates into a waterfall. Best trail in the Hot Springs area.
Enjoy the hike take your time it is well worth the wait to see this beautiful Arkansas nature experience. Look around as you walk very carefully you never know what wildlife you will have the opportunity to view during your stay at Lake Catherine State Park.
Excellent camp ground and park.
The scenery is beautiful It Is quiet. Lots of good sight seeing. I live on the lake here. Lots of deer, birds, geese, ducks.etc
Lots of fun. we went horseback riding. Lots to do here
Really nice place. Bathrooms are well maintained and all electric camp grounds are 50amp
Wonderful quit lake!!!! Only compliant is the power station that is directly across the state park.
Beautiful park. We stayed one night in the YURT and it was a blast. A couple of notes if you are thinking about renting it: 1. It is basically just a frame and canvas, so pack for the weather. 2. Bring sheets, pillows, and blankets for the provided sleeping mats. 3. There is electricity and a little propane stove that is provided. 4. Definitely recommend. The bathrooms and showers were immaculate, as seen in the photo-- and they were heated! The YURT is only a few yards away from the lake and a quick drive (or walk) to the trail head. We also hiked the Falls Branch Trail. We had a sick toddler so we went the back way to the falls. A left turn on the trail is 0.5 miles to the falls while the whole loop is about 2 miles (thank you to the lady at the visitor center for this info!). The half mile trail to the falls was an easy hike but it was a bit muddy as it had rained that night. If we come back to the area, we will definitely be renting the YURT again!
Beautiful park, friendly staff, very well marked trails. I wish there wasnt a factory across the lake to ruin the view but otherwise we loved it.
Great place to go! Good for all ages and all kinds. Path to the waterfall is shaded and made nice to walk.
Been enjoying these waterfalls for 5+ years. My kids love to come swim in them & the hike gives us a chance to be adventurous
Had a wonderful time with my family. Hope to go back soon.
Stayed in a 4plex, shared dock per 2units, private back porch swing, BBQ grill, picnic table. Cabin has dishes, linens, full fridge, toiletries and dish soap. Very clean and cozy. Camp store carries camping, drugstore, and some food items including s'more ingredients. Helpful, friendly staff. We did the hike to the waterfalls, easy even for small children. We saw raccoons and geese. Quiet. Great experience. On a Thursday night we were able to walk in at 730 pm and cabins were available.
Well spaced campsites. Facilities were well maintained and clean. Friendly park staff. We hiked, kayaked, visited the park store, fished, and enjoyed the beautiful surroundings. Next trip we may stay in one of the cabins. Be sure to fully secure your coolers as they have very smart raccoons!
Great place to visit ! Great trail and great fishing and staff is so great and friendly! We had a great time there and just few minutes from town.
Beautiful Arkansas State Park. The camp sites are beautiful!!! Some of the "cul-de-sac" sites off camp area B would be very hard for big rigs to get into, but the turnaround at the end of camp area C is large enough to turn around. Camp area A is in the woods as well as part of camp area B. There are beautiful bermed, level waterfront sites in area B and C. The lake had a power plant that isn't great to look at. Very nice hiking trails. Wonderful park!
So awesome. Cheap for a nice lake front cabin. We will definitely be back
Loved it! We stayed in one of the fully-furnished cabins. It was very nice & very peaceful. We hiked to the waterfall, canoed & went horseback riding.
Nice park with all hookups. A bit to crowded for us, but the hiking is great. There is a pretty waterfall a 30min hike from camp.
Lovely well kept park. Great campsites, all of which are close to the lake. Amazingly, the online reservation system works well and makes it easy to see what you are getting. This is a really nice lake for SUP, try paddling over to Falls Creek falls. Easy paddle from most of the park and very pretty.
Very nice trail and scenery. Just don't expect to see much of the waterfall in the Summer (dry season).
Hiking trials with waterfalls, camping, boat launches on Lake Catherine this an outdoor haven. Lots of scenery to soak in. I love it.
Beautiful large level sites, grill, large fire pit w/grill. All sites have water views, some have their own docks. Awesome fishing and boating. Nice restrooms, showers, camp hosts on site. Cabins available
The cabins are perfect for a getaway. Our kids loved the activities available. We hiked to a waterfall, rented kayaks and swam at the beach. Had a wonderful time. The staff were incredibly helpful in finding a place to charge our electric vehicle. We will definitely return!
Absolutely beautiful. Cabins are wonderfully secluded and comfortable. The folded towels were a nice touch. Staff were more than welcoming. Made for a wonderful family vacation!
Beautiful scenery, quiet park, rangers are friendly & quite capable, plenty of bathrooms & showers, handicap accessible everything, fills up so fast, most folks reserve a year ahead! Recently stayed in a cabin & it was amazing! It was better than the fanciest hotel I've been in with the most gorgeous view & the beds were so comfortable! The trail to the falls was very easily trekked with 5 2nd & 3rd grade kids! I also didn't notice ANY poison ivy along the path either!
It was fun. Very clean and organized. Everyone we encountered was having fun.
We camped here overnight during a cross-country tent camping trip. Wow, really nice campground with lots of trails and water views; plus a small waterfall. I'm sure the fishing is good here too. We chose an electrical camp site near the lake since the tent-camping area was up top on a hill and wasn't as close to the lake. The burn rings and benches are nice, and the park seems very well maintained. The bathroom facilities were updated, nice, and clean as well. We enjoyed hiking some trails and being out in nature here. There are ute's and some cabins for rental as well, and this would be a great place to spend a weekend to enjoy everything it has to offer. One issue was the check-in process however. It was not apparent which sites were or were not taken for the night, also there was no pay-station for after hours so we were a bit confused how to pay. We eventually paid the next morning at the park shop area. We would definitely stay here again if we get the chance.
Very quiet. Great waterfall. The trails are great for hiking. Be ready to climb some major elevation! Great place to take young kids.
The waterfall is beautiful. It's always fun to walk out to it.
The park is really nice. Big spots for campers/RV's. There are plenty for trees for shade. The lake doesn't breed too many insects and the three main trails offer a light and fun day trip.
Lake Catharine State Park is a beautiful campground. I loved the wide spaces and being able to wake up each day with a view of the lake. We didn't get to do much hiking due to the weather but the trails look very nice too. The campground seemed to stay busy and at times could be a little noisy from honking geese to children playing. Watch out for racoons.
Some nice trails. Beautiful little waterfall. Bathrooms were quite clean. Pollen was horrendous while we were there.
Underrated fishing spots... Can't beat them.
This State Park is gorgeous. Many spots to pitch a tent and many spots to park a camper. Deer all over along many trails and fishing spots.
This park is beautiful and so clean! We had the best time camping with family. We came for Easter weekend and the park even had an Easter egg hunt for the kids. We will definitely be coming back!!
Lake Catherine State Park is GREAT! Beautiful, well maintained, fun. Actually, ALL Arkansas State Parks could receive this identical review. It is "the Natural State" after all!
We enjoyed our stay. the cabin was real nice.my car sprug an oil leak at the oil filter cap and we were stranded.the park maintanece patched the cap for us and gave me two quarts of oil.The cap started leaking again.the park ranger carried me to the parts store and i was able to get the parts i needed to repair my car. Our cabin was on the edge of the water. My wife fed the ducks and i fished from the dock.Had a great time.
Park is clean, well kept and the staff is very friendly. We rented cabin 13 for our anniversary weekend, it was well stocked and very clean.
Amazing trails. We saw the lake and we also went to the waterfall.
Very nice little park...very pretty waterfall.
A nice place where the entire family can enjoy themselves. Visit the avid amateur on YouTube where you will find videos of the park.
The pontoon tour was wonderful; informational and relaxing. Steve D was an Excellent guide!!!
Good for fishing, camping and swimming and picnic areas. Nice people there, showed us a cabin, very nice, need to book well in advance. But it would worth it.
This park is absolutely beautiful. We went hiking on the falls trail that includes breathtaking scenery of the mountainous forest and a creek. It ends with a gorgeous waterfall. This was my first experience hiking and it was so much fun I definitely would like to go again. It is considered easy, that just means it’s not as steep. I would recommend hiking boots there are places that you will have to walk through slippery rocks and down rock inclines. Overall amazing relaxing experience!
Park gets 5
We love this place. A great deal! The locals are not happy about motorhomes on the road going in as I had some flip me off while doing the speed limit on the twisting roads.
Very nice park, a lot of room, good level spots.
I kept thinking- "I can't believe this is free!" My kids had so Much fun and we got there early enough to get a table under cover. Bathrooms were messy by end of day and the showers didn't work, but it was a blast and absolutely beautiful!
Excellent state park. It was full, but it was still quiet and restful. The racoons creeping through the brush at night was a fun experience for the kids! Clean bath houses and plenty to keep the fam worn out.
Great park with excellent hiking trails.
this park is a hidden gem! campsites weren’t super private, but the lake swimming was gorgeous and the hiking trails were great! also; some people complain about it, but i thought it was so great that a power plant was in the lake! ***BEWARE: southern baptists that loudly discuss heaven, not vaccinating their children, asking you about your tattoo meanings, letting their (5) children throw rocks and stack rocks near the pond, have an off-leash dog and will not stop staring at you near the waterfall. i know we’re in the bible belt, but give it a rest. some people go hiking to get away from that bs- a peaceful visit was ruined by several loud, obnoxious people.
Love Lake Catherine! Everyone here is always so great!
The hike was long and exhausting lol. But the waterfall was beautiful and the water nice n cold.
If you love Mother Nature, then you need to go there. It is just beautiful.
Always fun except in the spring when the Canada Geese won’t shut up!
Beautiful Park very remote except for the hydroelectric plant across the lake that is somewhat lit up at night but it is silent. Cabins, Yurts, campground sites with power or not, and even a rent-a-camp with a tent that sleeps 2 all available through their online reservation site. The fishing is good and it's nice and quiet. Nature abounds. I saw deer, raccoons and lots of ducks of all kinds. Pets are allowed in the campground area. Nice Visitor Center with store to get the essentials including firewood. They had some amazing cast iron products for camping I could not help but get one. Also make sure you check out the marina where are you can get bait 4 fishing and rent your favorite type of watercraft. Both the visitor center and the marina had nice souvenirs like stickers and other small items. Also check the activity board for they have daily nature walks to a nearby waterfall and a water tour of the lake. It was a very enjoyable weekend just 20 minutes outside of Hot Springs.
