REVIEWS OF Crater of Diamonds State Park IN Arkansas

michael wilson

Nothing like any of the documentary on the park. But was fun. Probably would not do it again. If power equipment was able to be used and running water. Would have been much more fun.

Renea Dillon

Great visitors center with LOTS of history and a very nice gift shop to peruse!

Marny Lee

The campground is awesome! Clean facilities, a few trails to explore, nice playground, even has a laundry room! The diamond field was just a plowed field, kids had fun playing in the dirt. We didn't find anything, but it was fun to get dirty. We also went to the water park, which helped cool us off. The diamond field and water park felt a bit pricey for what they are, but it was a nice experience. The campground is what gets my 5 stars.

Jason Clements

Unique place. The full hookup campgrounds are really nice. Above average bathrooms for most state parks. Dug for diamonds for a couple hours. Didn't find any but enjoyed the adventure none the less.

C Yauch

It's a great concept and the kids enjoyed it for about 30-40 minutes...so that was about a dollar a minute for the three of us. We didn't know that the ground was practically cement (hard clay) and the sun was relentless. I think it might be okay to do in the fall or maybe spring, but mid August not so much. If they had had the water park (or the restaurant) open when we left a little after 10:00, we would have definitely spent another 30 bucks to cool off, but none of us wanted to stand around for 45 minutes waiting for it to open, so we left. Kind of a bummer since we went out of our way to make that a stop on our way home from vacation.

Gary Hancock

One of our favorite State Parks. Shady, well maintained, friendly folks at office, full hookups, and we meet lots of good people.

Tammy Jones

This was my second trip to the park, and I had just as much fun as the first time. The campgrounds were full when I attempted to make reservations, but will definitely call earlier when I plan my next trip in May. 4 hours of digging in the dirt just flew by, and we found lots of pretty rocks for our collection. The older kids had just as much fun as the younger ones. We stayed at The Queen of Diamonds and ate at the Mexican restaurant. It was a great trip. Great family memories.

Mike Bickers

This was a fun place to go. My wife and I have been wanting to go here for some months now and we are glad we did. It was fairly inexpensive and we just had a fun time digging and sifting. We didn't find any diamonds but we did meet some great people, find all kinds of different natural rocks and have a peaceful two days. We will be coming back some day.

Josef Vogl

Had fun looking for gems. Even though didn't know exactly what we were looking for. The people working there were helpful at identifying minerals for us.

Darleen Sanford

Great way to spend the day hoping to find some gems.

Sara Donalson Niday

Definite bucket list adventure. Although we didn't find anything, we had a lot of fun. Recommend going during cooler weather and NOT in the middle of summer

Lee McKee

Fun family thing to do. Although we didn't find any diamonds. Best time is in the first week of the month after they plow the field. And it rains.

Pam Fundenberger

Good fun, didn't find any diamonds, but will go back and try again

Michele Craig

Great place for kids, beware of heat, is a large open field with a few shady spots. Worth the price to rent screens, brought our own buckets, but can rent all supplies needed. Found lots of quartz but no diamonds (there were 2 found that day though).

AL N

We visited during spring break in March and it was a great destination! The onsite facilities are nice and there is so much land to mine! We brought a garden cart with shovels, drinks and chairs which made it much easier to explore and mine. Although we didnt find any diamonds, it was an adventure we won't forget and we brought home some cool rocks as a reminder of our time there. If you are in the area, you should check it out.

David Barker

Looking for family fun? Don't mind getting dirty? Not afraid of a little hard work? Then this is the place for you! Spend the day filling 5 gallon bucket with dirt, run it thru a screen with some water and see if you have any teeny tiny, precious stones. You might get lucky and find larger ones too. Bring your shovels, screen boxes, wheel barrel, water, snacks, lunch and a sense of adventure. Bring the kids for some character building lessons and make family memories. Lodging, food and shops nearby in Murfreesboro.

Judi Alexander

Park camping sites are very nice, we have a ⛺ area in a nice wooded spot Very few bugs but the flies and crows are a nuisance. Park employees are very helpful and friendly. Would be nice though if those camping could get a pass for the water park . Regardless of age if children are 42 inches they pay the adult price of$10, under that the price is $6. The diamond field hasn't been plowed since the 3rd and they have had rain then higher temps so ground is very hard so difficult to dig . But all in all the grand daughters are enjoying their first time camping.

Jason & angie linnen

A nice day out, can get very hot as there is very little shaded areas

Ashley Cable

So much fun, but bring sunscreen and don't wear your good shoes. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable and curious to see what we had found. Wonderful place to spend a day in the dirt.

Orlando Amador

Hot and fruitless. Pool was nice but closed at 5 didnt get to enjoy it. RV campground has large private sites with full hookups and good prices.

david boston

Don't count on finding a diamond, but it's definitely a fun activity to dig in the dirt with the kids. You'll meet some very interesting people who do find diamonds and love to talk about it.

Teresa Stevens

Campgrounds are beautiful, lots of mature trees, hills are not so big it's difficult to navigate Roads are well marked and maintained. We stayed in RV spot 32. Was close to plumbed restrooms with showers. My only complaint was the shower water pressure and temperature. The water temps fluctuate with other shower users and when the toilets flushed. Reservations and checkin were easy and efficient.

Jeray Norman

Primitive camping is 14 bucks. Only 5 or so spots though. Looking for diamonds is fun. Bring a bucket and a shovel.

Camille Dalke

This place was pretty cool. It's a giant field, you pick a spot, then start digging around. They have friendly staff on site to explain what each stone you find is. (We didn't find any diamonds, but found calcite and jasper.) I think this would be a great spot to take kids, but not for that long, depending on the kids' attention spans. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience I would recommend to others. I probably wouldn't drive the 9+ hours again, though. At least not until/if I had children of my own. Oh, and don't expect to find diamonds! Most people don't find ANY diamonds.

Cristina Phillips

We had the best time! Bring your own tools! Wear rain boots or shoes and clothing you don't mind getting dirty. We are definitely coming back

Lisa Dale

Really cool place to dig in the dirt. We stayed for about 4 hours and had a good time.

Rebecca Larsen

A unique experience. Just remember to bring plenty of fluid with uou

Rick Allen

This was totally awesome meet some great people and I look forward to going back.

Lisa Merry

I didn't snap any photos of the actual area you dig in (too busy trying to find a diamond lol). It turns out we didn't find any diamonds this time, but we found this gem....This is the pool area that is perfect to cool down in after a long hot day in the dirt. There is an extra fee to get in pool but man it's worth it. The girls made new friends and had a wonderful time.

C Worden

My kids really enjoy digging for diamonds here. The campgrounds are very nice. We've stayed in one site that wasn't very level but the other times the sites were level. They are spacious and shaded. Bathrooms are convenient and clean. The employees are friendly. There's not a lot to do besides looking for diamonds in the fall but they have a swim area that looks fun for the kids that's open in the summer.

Mike Sweenor

Cool place to go and search for gems. Very helpful and if you don't have the supplies they'll have them for you. Spent all day and found some really cool stones.

Charles Honaker

Fun with the family at a minimal cost. Bring a small shovel and a kids plastic sand shifter and you will be in business. They do rent everything you would need addy a small cost. We didn't find anything but the search alone was worth it.

Jennie Reamer

It was a great visit, but I think it is weird that you cannot take home a little chunk of dirt, my son and soms father had a small chunk of dirt they were going to bring home because it had rocks in it, but they said we could not take it, and I definitely seen other people leave with dirt and they did not say a thing!!!

Christina Bakle

I was surprised how much everything cost. It was very hot the day I went. There is no shade where you dig for diamonds. The water park looked great

joey jennings

It was hot but there's a nice water park to cool down in after you go digging. The kids had a blast.

mel f

Informative friendly people. Facilities were clean. Even tho it was super hot there was water available for free. Rules felt thoughtful and safe and at the same time not overbearing..lots of freedom

JH S

Great dirty family fun. It's a fun place to let your kids run around and dig in the mud and get all messy then screen all their mud diggings. There also is a swimming pool with kids platform on site and a visitor center/museum/gift shop. You can camp here and they have other options but we only did the diamond mine. Totally worth the detour to explore the land and teach kids some fun hands on science.

Jeff Troutt

Hot, dirty, fun. Might find a Diamond. Dopamine fully engaged.

Kim Carpenter

Really want to give the campground a perfect 5 for immaculate, level, PAVED, shady and decently spaced sites but deducted a half point for the bathrooms. No lockable doors on the showers (curtains only) and it was REALLY buggy. Daddy LONNNNNNG Legs (biggest I have ever seen), Walking Sticks and a large variety of colorful "Nope" bugs. To avoid the heebies all day, wait to use the shower until right after they clean it. The park gets a 5. Lots of fun! We would return.

Jonathan Adams

Very fun place to go. Don't really get high hopes of finding anything though. Also I would google and watch some videos of you never have looked for gems before. I would also recommend bringing your own full sized shovel and 3-4 5 gallon buckets with you along with some good gloves. There is very little shade here so be ready to bake in the sun. Bring plenty of snakes and water.

Angela Tilley

Love this place! 2nd time coming here from Maine, can't wait to come back next year.

Curtis Long

Its an ok place. It is a little more overhyped with everyone expecting to find something valuable. I would advise if you go during the summer to bring a canopy for shade and plenty of gatoraid lr water. We went on Labor day weekend and it was still extremely hot. They also have a very nice mini waterpark but it was crowded. I would recommend going but don’t go with the expectation of finding something valuable. If anything let the kids have fun digging in the dirt.

Jason Beeson

Great experience with the entire family! No diamond this time, but I learned a lot for next visit. Cafe is open prices are a little steep for quality of food. We will definitely be returning very soon!

Connie Moorhead

Loved the park & the dig. We were sorry that the diamonds in the packages for purchase in the store were not real ones, as advertised. My sister took hers to a jeweler who told her they were fake. :(

Christie Berrier

If you love playing in the dirt, getting away from noise, and the possibility of finding a diamond... then this is the place for you. My sixth trip here was fun, dirty, and yes, hot. But digging, hauling, washing, and sorting is somehow therapeutic! The regulars are friendly, visitors are excited and those of us who wish we lived closer and could visit more often are determined to use their time wisely. The search area gets plowed ever so often, so fresh till encourages new wash to concentrate the diamonds. I recommend going a few rains after a fresh plow. There are many resources online (just search for them) that will show you how to screen your dirt, where to look, and what to be careful of around the state park. (Wildlife considers this their home! It IS a State park!) This is a great way to get people off their cellphones and have fun with one another. The Kimberlite Cafe is open seasonally, but I like bringing in nutrition bars and snacks to maximize my time on the diamond search field. Shade is limited, so bring lots of sunscreen and water. Be prepare to leave knowing more people than you did when you arrived and have fun... that’s what this is about. Will you find a diamond? Chances are, no. However with persistence and patience... you will be on the right track!

Nadine Mothershed

We love this place. We have been several times. Staff is great. Facilities are great. For a small entrance fee you can go dig in the dirt all day long in the search of a diamond. Several places to dig and slues for sifting through your gravel. There is a pavilion to get out of the sun. As well as a small water park/ pool area. There is a gift shop that sells souvenirs, snacks, and drinks. There is also a small museum and history about the crater. Large display shovels on the grounds mark where some of the first and largest diamonds had been found. Definitely a great place to go to at least once even if it is just to play a little in the dirt. Lots of information on planning your trip can be found on their website such as places to stay, dine, and on the town of Murfreesboro Arkansas.

R. Taylor

We didn't find any diamonds, and we were disappointed that the field had not been plowed for three months, but we still had a good time. It was well worth the $10 admission. The staff is very friendly, and after a day of collecting colorful rocks, they were patient and identified all of the various minerals we had collected. Bring a bucket. You can take some of the possibly diamond bearing dirt and rocks with you at no extra charge.

Jose Esparza

Really enjoyed RV camping here. Kids liked the playground and water park. Fun experiencing digging for diamonds. We will be back.

Steve Certain

Extremely well kept. The campground is one of the very best I've been to! Lots of natural beauty.

Viking Queen

Don't go by Googles time schedual of this property. We live 6 & a half hours away. Left at 6am and arrived there at 1:45 only to be told the park closes at 4pm. We stayed for a short while only to drive back home afterwards. Correct your Park open times please for those of us who live far away this would help us plan better.

Christine Bazur

Very fun adventure for everyone. Spend at least 2 days to enjoy the dry and wet sifting. The pool was awesome as well. *NOTE* NO BEER OR ALCOHOL sold in this area. Bring with you or drive 30 minutes out to pick some up in Amity.

Wally 73450

So much fun! It was a great family get away. We stayed at the Murfreesboro RV park. They gave us lessons on how to diamond hunt and provided us with equipment. Then they helped us look through our "centers" If you rent equipment at the park, they will also give classes on how to screen your dirt to find diamonds. There are other semi precious stones to be found at the park also. Don't hesitate, just GO! You will have a great time!

Jerri Burks

Had a good time with my son maybe next time we can find a diamond

Sheryl DuBose

Would love to visit in the fall or spring but it was too hot to be out there the day we went

Chris Marley

It was a great excursion. It was pet friendly even on the dig site. I had a beautiful day with my wife playing in the mud and on the day we were there someone found a brown 6pt so hey if you have a day or weekend grab the family and head on down to the Crater of Diamonds who knows you could end up 50k richer by doing so. Down side limited WiFi.

Teah Thrasher

My family and I really enjoyed it, we will definitely be back.

Christine Hubbard

You can hunt for diamonds and other gems. Bring your own shovels and buckets or you can rent them there. Bring sunscreen and a small stool to sit on, otherwise you will be bending over so much. What a fun adventure great family activity.

Bridgette Carter

Fun. Family time well spent. The pool was an added bonus after digging around all day.

Jay Kelly

It's a large open field turned by a machine. Bring tools, water, and something for shade if you plan to dig for diamonds. Tool rental is available but over priced.

Sharon Sprague

Great fun. If you camp at Murfreesboro rv park, Sarah will teach you how to search for diamonds and she will identify what you found.

J.B. Niday

Bring as much of your own equipment as possible. The staff was helpful in identifying the rocks. It was hot, bring a hat and a large umbrella in the summertime along with water. Whatever clothes you wear will be super dirty by the time you're done. Do your research on what to look for before you go.

Heather Lehto

Super fun little place! Wear cool and comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting dirty in. You can bring your own digging/screening tools or rent them.

Steven Fritts

Its was fun, didn't find any diamonds but met some people who have and got to see TV them, very cool!

Mark Robinson

Kids had a good time digging. Fun day. Only thing came out to get in our SUV and it had been hit. Made a police report .but good day at the park

Kristina Sevier

It was a fun experience. Something hands on and different. Kids loved it. The only thing is there isn't enough shaded areas/tables. Will be going back.

johnsheppardfan

Friendly and knowledgeable employees. A great place to look for certain precious stones and minerals you get to keep.

Summer Lynn

Best time ever can't wait to return again soon very soon

Vic Glass

Fun to dig in the dirt. Didn't find any diamonds this time but plan to go back sometime. Bring plenty to drink, saw lots of people who didn't think of it. Don't forget your dog needs water too if you bring him.

Dawn B

Very fun place, wish we could have stayed longer. We just didn't prepare for how hot it was. We found lots of jasper and quartz but no diamonds

Heather Neuman

We loved it. Met so many wonderful people and memories made.

Marquisha Thomas

Very fun digging for diamonds and good experience for my kids

Michael Tollett

We took our first camping trip in our new RV to Crater of Diamonds State Park with our son and three grand daughters. To be totally honest, I cannot think of anything problematic during our 2 night - 3 day stay. The check in center staff was very courteous and helpful even though they were dealing with a computer system change. Everyone who we met and spoke with who were CoD staff folks were top quality and very friendly. The campground overall was very clean. Our campsite was easy to find, easy to get our camper setup (first time setup in a campground took less than 30 minutes), and utilities all worked well. The bathhouses were clean, play areas were clean, and there were trash and recycling bins in numerous spots. We were extremely pleased with the minimal amount of mosquitoes and flies in our campsite. The river trail was pleasantly nice even though there had been flooding there the week prior. I noticed while making coffee both mornings that work trucks came through the areas to replace trash bags, and the staff doing that were very quick and quiet so they didn't disturb still sleeping campers. Our adventure in the diamond mine with the grand daughters was very nice and lot of staff to help us with renting equipment and answering questions. The water park was a nice distraction and the cold water helped refresh us after the diamond dig morning. The girls had a blast on the slides and the play area in the water park. Overall I have to say this was a fantastic park to visit and for our first camping adventure in #coolcamperchet we give it an easy 5 star rating. We look forward to coming back in the future.

Jeff Somers

Love the camp grounds and the town around it. This is an excellent way of escaping the city and having a relaxing getaway. I recommend this to anyone needing a pause. P.s. be ready to do hard work if going after diamonds

Brittany E. Bruffett

I didn't find a diamond but people find them all the time after they till the field. Was really hot when I went other than that it was fun. You need a few people with you when you go.

Dusty Tilton

had a great time diggin for diamonds! it gets really hot out there so if u have children just be careful. but there is a water park in there as well so u should have fun either way! great place to go!

Lynn Johnson

Best trip friendly staff and very helpful we did not find a diamond but did get many other stones the campsite was great very clean very clean WE WILL GET ONE NEXT TIME THANKS FOR HAVEN US ARKANSAS

Adam Sargent

This review is for the campground only. Our visit started off great. We had reserved a site that wouldn't have worked based off of our trailer size so the front desk worker switched us to a different site right away. Easy directions to the site and we were set up in no time. Each space is rather large with room for a trailer as well as a tent pad. River trail is paved and easily accessible by anyone. Bathrooms were clean and smelled the same. We will be back, just not when it's so hot!

Charley Golenor

Super fun! Great family adventure. Don't walk in this park expecting to find a diamond. Walk in and realize you are gonna work your butt off, play in the dirt, enjoy the views and maybe you will walk away with some cool gems and you won't be disappointed.

Ryan Patel

The water park only has a water vending machine. They don't sell anything else and you can't bring your own cooler. Wouldn't recommend this place on a Hot day. Giving it a 2 because the kids enjoyed it.

Kelly Ballew

This is a fun place to spend some family time. Not only can you dig for diamonds but after a hot day exploring for diamonds you can take a dip in a cool swimming pool. The only issue I have is they do not plow the diamond field very often.

Deborah Smith

Fun day digging for diamonds... recommend bringing some kind of cover, this place is like the surface of the sun, it was 98° mid September... we used a 10 x 10 canopy and then attached a tarp on the side that we moved with the sun. You can take your own digging equipment or rent some there... remember whatever you take must be taken in by hand and hauled back out again.

S Tarno

Beautiful park. Had SO MUCH fun! Great hiking trail. Had fun digging for diamonds. One downside, but we survived, is no television channels and no cell service. We played dominos a lot! Stayed four days. Highly recommend.

Matthew Turner

Great place for younger kids and adults who want to do some searching. It is difficult work and be prepared to sweat for a good time! It is difficult to find a diamond so don't be to discouraged. Disappointed that the water park was closed when we went however kids had a great time! Rent equipment could be a little more clear on keeping the receipt.

Steve mccallister

Sad to see the new water park closed with so many children there and it was so hot that day. Employees were nice and helpful but the deposits were a little high. Good experience.

Arthur Harleman

This was a great experience! All the kids we brought (ages 3-13) loved it and there were fewer complaints than expected. Kids loved playing in the dirt and the prospect of finding a diamond kept them occupied and involved. Though we didn't find anything worth writing about the place was a blast and we hope to return.

Julie Mulkey

Good activity..just make sure you go when it's not too hot

Crystal Pelous

I have been to crater of diamonds 100 times.. Great place to go Year round. My fab time Of,her is fall season

Paul Pezzano

Surprising loveable state park. Diamond mind isn't much more than a dirt field with a low chance of finding gems, but your kids won't care it's a giant dirt and mud playground to them. Prices are a little high between mine tickets and rental gear. The water park is the highlight though with slides and lots of other kids. Skip the cafe and bring a picnic basket.

Leslie McCormack

Spent a hot day looking for diamonds. The park has everything you need for rent. We didn't find anything but we sure had fun trying. Great water park also.

Paul Allen

It gets hot be prepared to sweat take a tarp or something you can make a a little shade spot to get out of the sun if you have your own tools you can take you will save a few dollars they have a water park out front of it is open during season check times before you go

Clay Lambert

Very neat state park. The area where you actually search for diamonds is just a big dirt field but the rest of the park is beautiful. The staff and park rangers are friendly and more then helpful. The camping area is nice but they only have 5 primitive camp sites so if you don't have a rv I recommend getting a reservation. Plan on going back

Beth Wilson

Fun for kids to dig in and he first and then get to wash their findings.

One Heart

Loved it I got a small diamond. This is 2nd time there. Will go back.

goesfisherman

We had a good time there. It is worth the trip and bring your boots if it has rained.

Kim Morris

It is a hard day of work to find some cool rocks. But with such a slight chance of finding a diamond, I recommend crystal digging.

TheLegendOfPsychopath Imalwayswithyou

It was a amazing experience I had in Arkansas Crater Of Diamonds State Park And I hope to visit again sometime I found many agates and other gems. The gift shop has many beautiful gems and my cabin was within walking distance.

Steven Eby

My grandfather brought me here long before this place was a state park. At that time, the diamonds were scattered about like golf balls on a driving range. Just kidding. We dug and dug and found nothing. Same experience today. Nonetheless the trails are beautiful enough to make your visit worth it. Any grandkid of digging age would love this place.

Dawn Stewart

Fun place to bring the family! Cool off afterwards at the water park.

Micheal Simpson

Great place for a weekend vacation. 10$ / adult to enter, and then you can rent equipment for digging. However, I would recommend bringing your own shovel, a fold up chair, and some drinks / snacks. Otherwise, their equipment will suffice (you get reimbursed when you return the stuff). The shaded water troughs are one of the more popular spots (quicker to search through and is shaded!), so try to get there early. Overall a great experience, but dont be upset if you dont find anything even over the course of two days of digging and sifting!

Jena Hamilton

Loved this, can't wait to go back. I found some great items. RV park if spending the night...be sure and make reservations ahead of time. But plenty of room to park during the day.

Debra Hojnacki

Had a great time. Was there for only a few hours. Didn't find any diamonds. But, did find some great jasper, citrate.

Clay Hightower

So much fun if you are in to digging in the dirt and collecting rocks.

Mara Eden

I dug and sweat for about 4 hrs, while my daughter on the other hand, decided to sit on a shaded boulder, after about 20 min and getting frustrated with her toddlers throwing everything out of their buckets, as soon as it went in them and watch a youtube video on how to find a diamond... she brushed her hand across the rocks at her feet and wth... finds a diamond???!!!! Lol

Cindy

Beautiful camping and park, but don't expect to find much if looking for gems. If you're there in the summer months, bring an umbrella, not much areas for shade in the diamond field. There is a crystal mine further north that is less expensive and you are more apt to find a souvenir to take home!

Amanda Thomas

Staff was helpful and knowledgeable, rental equipment was top notch and easy to use, and there is plenty of space to dig! I appreciated the shade shelters as well. Would visit again!

Elizabeth Keltz

Bring your rain boots! We saw so many people in flip flops, sandals, and tennis shoes. Get a pair of rain boots in case it's muddy. There's a place to hose off when you leave the field which is a great idea. You can also bring home sifted dirt to keep your diamond hunt going at home. No diamonds for us but we got jasper! Bring plenty of water and a hat. There is no shade in the field other than the wet sluice areas.

Charlotte Cooper

Enjoyed digging for diamonds and gems very nice souvenir shop also nice people good service

EvaRon Lopez

Great place for the family! Helpful staff and you can bring some of your own equipment. My wife and I had a nice time digging for diamonds! We will be going back soon.

Karthick Kannaiyan

A must visit place to experience your luck. It's same as like lottery ticket but you get fun playing in mud/gravel. I had one of the best experience trying to dig for diamonds. If luck is in your favor you might get a diamond here. The place is really calm. There is a campground. Trails around the park. The place has restaurant and water play for kids these two are seasonal open from memorial day to labor day. Staffs are friendly and has a smiley face all the time. The place is welcoming for all ages. There are rental options for all the needed equipments. Try your luck. I feel the time spent is here a needed experience for all ages. Ages 6 and above - $10

Mark Farrer

Beautiful campgrounds. Diamond mining may or may not be your thing, but a great diversion for a day. Get an early start in the day.

Kasandra Roller

Had a great time didn't find a diamond but it was so much fun

Katherine Satterfield

It was a lot of fun for the kids, but make sure to bring your own tools.

Nathan swett

Finding a diamond is like winning a play off game. It's not going to happen every time. People are super nice and willing to help

Jamie Schwartz

Kids had fun. Thankfully the weather was nice the day we went and Didn't get too awfully hot. Prices were reasonable to rent the supplies.

Logan work

It sounded cool, but not really as fun as anticipated. I had a decent time, it was way too hot and a lot of effort for basically no reward. Way to much walking in the sun. Also the "pool"/swimming area is made for little kids at a whopping 2 ft deep

John Lovell

Great fun with the family. Also, The Feed Bin downtown Murfreesboro is an unexpected treasure. Best lunch and dinner in town! It's a dry town if that means anything to you.

Heather Hatton

This was a fun stop on a road trip. We were prepared with rubber boots and our own shovels and buckets. We probably should have packed a lunch to take and spent about 3 hours. The rangers will identify what you dig up at no cost.

Lilly Johnson

My kids had a blast here! They loved digging around & discovering new things.

Johnny Lowery

We visited this past weekend and had a really good time! We didn't find any diamonds but we had a really good time looking for them! The staff is all very helpful and friendly. The Diamond Springs Water Park is awesome for cooling off after digging! We will be back for sure!

Zarley Soda

Nope... No diamonds found... But still good times searching. People were friendly and all willing to give advise on good techniques to use. The camp ground was full yet quiet. Left a day early due to rain though.

Stephen Hartman

This is a real nice place to spend the day in central Arkansas. Rockhounds or not, it has a very nice gift shop and snack bar. Fields are all plowed up, so it makes exploring easier for diggers. My son, Ben, found some lovely agates there, but Diamonds are rare. I did my rock selections at the gift shop, which were well received back here in NYS. All in all, worth the trip.

Ritesha Jairaj

Such a fun activity to do with friends and family and you never know you might find a real diamond. The facility is well maintained, there are people to guide you and identify the stones you collected. The field is pretty big and you can rent the equipments to dig and clean your treasure. Overall it was a good experience for $10 fee. Must have experience

Heather Miner

So much fun! Great for everyone in the family. Relatively inexpensive trip, if your traveling there. From 4 years old on up to 52 years of age, and we all had a blast.

Summer Wren

It was Amazing, hard work but lots of fun...get dirty, bring a cooler let the kids have fun and I promise you will all love it. First of all...this kinda feels like a hidden secret; tucked away in Arkansas! What a great place to visit! Its only $10 for the WHOLE DAY and as long as you keep your receipt, you can come and go as you please. They allow food, drinks, little wagons, temporary shelters like canopies, etc. There's a washing station for yourself and gear before you leave. The gift shop there is pretty cool as well! The staff are constantly buzzing around so you will always find an employee quickly if you have a question. As far as gear goes...make sure you bring your own or it could get expensive renting their stuff. Bring a 5gal. bucket, a full size shovel, pick axe or mil-spec shovel/pick combo, a box with screen attached for sifting, etc. ...the simple dollar store garden tools wont cut it... AND BRING PLENTY OF FLUIDS WITH YOU...ITS COOL...THEY ENCOURAGE THAT...HECK...MAKE IT A FULL-BLOWN PICNIC! There are picnic tables scattered all over the field/mining area. Great place-great staff-great price-great memories for me....im going back tomorrow then headed back home to Tennessee. This will be a bi-annual trip for me from now on!

Fun activity for the family, just know that after an hour or so your kids will be more interested in the little water park than they will be searching for diamonds. Also there is not much shade so bring an umbrella and maybe a chair so you can sit every now and the

Bruce Reith

Good bit of history, don't expect to find a diamond.

Don Ahlen

Awesome place if you love to dig for rocks and whatever else might pop out of the dirt there. Knowledgeable staff. Beautiful park

Jason Platner

Needs more water sluese stations than just two. Planned on staying two full days. Left after half a day of the first day. Wasn't fun for us to fight for a place to put our screens in the water. The people that were too serious about it and brought their own wheelbarrows and equipment ruin it. One guy and his son took up one whole side of a water canal. They just kept dumping their screens and leaving the piles and their equipment behind. Another group of college-aged kids took up the whole other shelter. The place could have easily used at least two more water stations if not more. Came home telling family and friends it was a one-time thing just to say you done it. Unless you're just into being assertive with strangers and throwing elbows...

Its a huge dirt field where you get hot and dirty and probably won't find anything. Its a great time and you could do worse for $10. Bring a cart for your things so you don't have to lug dirt around.

Sean G

Huge area to mine in. Easy to navigate, multiple sluicing stations set up. There are stations set up to you the history of the park and historical diamond finds, which is great to entertain children and people with bad backs (like me).

Barbara Kanoza

Loved this place. Sites were concrete, long and easy to get in/out with full hook-up. Enjoyed playing in the Crater looking for diamonds.

Dawn Ridder

Its different than any other vacation spots weve been to. Didnt find diamonds but we spent qualty together time. Great camping sites.

Lee Sistrunk

Good family fun and if you are patient you will find something

Ken Klinckman

A great experience, didn't find any sparklers !! But be prepared for the heat if you head here in the summer, it's a giant open field. No shade!! Bring lots of water

Meisha Wilkins

Such a fun little detour. My kids LOVED digging and finding stone of different types and colors. The Mud holes where also a hit with my littles also.

Mathew Castillo

It was a nice campsite unfortunately the pool closed the next day for the season. Also I didn't see in the description that the pool was only 3ft at its deepest point. I had a portable radio and was asked by a park ranger to turn it off. It was very quiet and nobody was around us (very irritated). Besides the pool closing for the season the mine also switched to early hours, be careful if booking a trip (pay attention to pool hours and mine hours). There is not much to do around the town so don't think you'll stay there and go out after your done diamond mining. I booked in August just before we went back to school in Michigan. It was also the hottest week they had all year :0( (watch your weather forecast).

This park is definitely a one of a kind experience! The mining field is something to be seen. Cute cafe on site, too, with pretty good food. Also great gift shop and nice staff. Clean restrooms! The true diamond here, though, is the small water park! About 3.5 feet at its deepest point I think (my nine year old could stand in it without going under), three water slides and lots of water features. Numerous lifeguards on duty, and lots of shady spots the parents can laze around in. I would highly recommend a visit!

Luwane Sweetney

Lots of fun! My grandchild had just as much fun collecting rocks of all kind.

Thomas Slater

10 bucks to dig in the dirt? ABSOLUTELY. this was one of the best parks my family visited. Extremely affordable, staffed by friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful employees. Where else you going to find a diamond? This is a must visit park.

Courtney Cooke

This State Park is a little gem. I loved the campground. The spaces were nice and wide but all of your amenities were in easy walking distance. The campground was very quiet during the day. It was really fun to watch people mine for diamonds. I had no idea how serious some take it. All in all I hope to visit again.

Jen Thor

Very very nice camp sites! I would definitely go back and camp longer. Wish they had a co convenience store. I give this place a 4 because I couldn't find my diamond... :)

linda burr

Surprising. Found some unique rocks but no diamonds

Scott Foufos

It's a wonderful place to go even if you don't find anything the experience of being there it's marvelous the people are wonderful the place is beautiful

Mark Brake

Had a great time digging in the dirt...didn't find any diamonds other than the one I brought with me and married 44 years ago and counting...

Logan Grismer

Awesome. Very friendly staff. Stay hydrated. Come equipped, a little research goes a long way. Have fun and be safe!

Jessica Mix

Lots of fun. Wish I took longer time here to search but I loved my time here. Enjoy and bring the kids... and leashed dogs.

Jennifer Wood

I love it!!! What better way to spend your time..

Shanonn Toohey

My kids love playing in the mud so after a rainy day this was the best place to go! Facilities are clean and the staff is helpful. Rubber boots are a must if there's been recent rain.

John Shaw

Crater of Diamonds is well worth the visit. The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. We mined for about half a day and not sure if we found any diamonds but had a great time looking. The other patrons were very friendly and took the time to guide us. I would definitely recommend trying your luck at finding a diamond.

Kimberly Bollman

We would spend 2 days here if the weather wasn't so unseasonably warm! We arrived when they opened for the day, during the week. Some supplies we had brought with us but we did rent the basic package which was a small shovel , bucket, and two different size sifters. The fee is reasonable, you just pay a deposit for the tools when you rent them, and your deposit is refunded to you immediately on return. You can come and go from the park during the day, once you have paid your entrance fee. The people who worked there were helpful and made suggestions that were also helpful. We didn't rent a little wagon, but some people brought their own and some rented from the park. You can visualize all of the digging areas from the park station and go wherever you want to go. There was one area that was posted not for digging so we stayed away from that. The Kimberlite cafe is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day. It was already closed for the season when we arrived but we took snacks and water with us and stayed until almost 2:00pm. We decided to wet sift, using the sluicing stations provide. There are two of these sluice areas available and we had shade and a breeze for the whole day. We had bought a bucket at the park for $5.00 since we forgot our bucket. This was a good idea since you can take a bucket of material (sifted) each, home with you for finer sifting later. We didn't find any diamonds that day but we did find some pretty rocks and now we have a bucket of smaller sifted material to go thru at our leisure. We will plan to go again but it will be when the weather is cooler. I do suggest going during the week because we heard the crowds on a weekend can be between 500 to 2000 people, especially if news of a recent diamond find has been in the news.

Jeremy Birkinbine

This place is great. The best little water park. And had a great time digging for diamonds. Did not find any but we r going back

Linda Buchanan

Worth the trip advise to come after a rain and it's cooler

A full day of digging in the dirt with others who have the same high hopes of finding a diamond. One man did find a rare dot! There rest of us found quartz.

Grand Moff Tarkin

On a whole, the park isn't a bad place. I wouldn't say the park deserves a lot of the hype it gets but it isn't a bad place. They have a pool. They also have camping spots which I believe you can rent as well as adequate parking spots near by. They have a gift shop with what I considered little to offer. Of course the main attraction here is the diamond crater, a term I use a little loosely. The digging area which is adequately sized for the amount of traffic it sees, is a large open dirt field. They till the land once to twice a week. Meaning you will need to dig fairly deep if you expect to find anything. Not that you should, the chances are quite slim. All in all, if you have kids and want to give them an excuse to play in the dirt, the park is a decent place. If you aren't, I wouldn't waste your time here.

Frank Cardenas

A family fun place, interesting geology ... supposedly the only place in North America

Sarah Samuels

Minus a star because the water park closes too early. Staff was friendly. Visitor center is nice. More bathrooms outside would be helpful though. Read the website so you know what to bring.

Brandon Allen

I love the walking trail open to the public part of the campgrounds. It is very beautiful.
