Absolutely beautiful and great outdoor fun. The Buffalo offers floating for just about everyone. Great camping and hiking opportunities. Interesting history. Quaint towns with some great food options. Our favorite areas are Gilbert and Jasper.
It is always peaceful and very clean. We love to see the wildlife that go through our campsite or out on a trail. Access to the river is easy and plenty of places to set up and enjoy the sun and water. I grew up coming here to swim and camp. And I'm still doing it. If that isn't a positive, than I don't know what is.
Beautiful river no matter where you see it. Water is clear and the bluffs are beautiful. All the town's around the river are hospitable and willing to get you to the river to float. We go down in that area often to camp and kayak.
This place is down right awesome!
Beautiful place to visit river was too high to.go kayaking so will have to try another time
Great, great place the Rangers are terrific. Absolutely beautiful area.
Amazing place. The canoeing on the buffalo river is a Must have.
Great area to hike and float the Buffalo River. Nice restaurant with killer view of Buffalo River and folks floating the Buffalo open between memorial and labor day. Great barbecue sold at Wild Bills Outfitters at Scenic Hwy 14 entrance to area. Visit ranger shack for books, souvenirs, and video/maps on Buffalo. Highly recommend.
Family of 15 canoed and kayaked 10 miles on the Buffalo and had a fantastic time!! Beautiful scenery and the water was crystal clear!! Perfect way to enjoy the great outdoors!!
What a wonderful river to float. Many things to do along the miles of river including hiking, caves and so much more. Great place to go!
Clean, clear water. The current maybe be too much for little kids in certain places. We found a little basin that was perfect!
Good service at the outfitters and just a relaxing river to float.
If other people weren't trashy it would be 5. #leavenotrace
Had an awesome time canoeing today. Water was very clear and flowing well. Fun thing to do in the summertime in Arkansas!
Great hikes and many trails to choose from nearby.
Gilbert is a cool little sleepy town with rafting, canoeing, kayaking. Super cool way to spend a day or two. Or you can drive down to the ferry and just hang out for the day on the river with the locals.
I have always loved coming here
Beautiful, peaceful and for our family, it was just a few hours drive south.
Awesome place to be. Clear beautiful waters. Awesome views. My second home.
Beautiful river. Perfect floating conditions today.
My absolute FAVORITE place to horseback ride! It's gorgeous here and miles of trails with lots to see. There is literally something for everyone here!
One of only 2 "National Rivers" in US. You'll understand why it is a National river from any spot along it's length. Protected from pollution and close construction it is pristine and beautiful. Plenty of canoe rentals near by. From high bluffs to bald eagles there's something for every nature lover.
The Buffalo River is a great place, there are many wonderful things to see, there is canoeing, hiking, bicycling, and many many other outdoor things! There are lots of great places to stay from campgrounds with tint sites all the way to RV sites with 50 amp hookups. There are many places with cabins as well. What a beautiful place
Great ride down the river.
The beauty of this place exceeded my expectations. I wish I had gone sooner.. #naturalstate
Always a nice cool spot in the river to beat the heat & beautiful scenery! Many different places to explore this beautiful river and its wild life!Worth the drive!!
had a great weekend camping at rush and floating the Buffalo. we'll be back
This is somewhere everyone should see in their lifetime. Its absolutely stunning
Pure beauty at its best.. Just watch for snakes
One of the most natural and beautiful places to have a peaceful and good time. You can meet some really cool people to,and many places to camp.
Very beautiful place to be. Busy in the summer but extremely peaceful in the winter when no tourist are floating. Wonderful landscapes
Beautiful area of the country. Many hours spent here and many hours to come! Hiking trails are serene.
Awesome place, clear water, please come and enjoy.
Lindsey trout dock is a must-see in Calico Rock. you won't regret it.
Absolutely love it up here! Spectacular views and breathtaking scenery.
My daughter and I camped overnight and traveled about 21 miles. The water was moving pretty quickly, which offered quite a thrill when the rapids came. This was one of the best experiences we've had together. This is such a beautiful place to bond with your friends and family. We made memories we will never forget. 10\10 We cannot wait to come back!
It is always a pleasure to go here. The river is very refreshing to go dip in. Also, the canoe services all along the National Park provides great service. They provide a bag for trash so the river is kept clean. I took my dog and we had fun canoeing down the river. Hopefully, you will be lucky and see an otter!
Go here basically every summer and it always lives up to the hype! Great scenery and bluffs that stretch forever along the river. Fishing is amazing, water is fresh and clear wildlife blooms here. There really isn't anything not to like.
If your looking for a great place to canoe or kayak, this js it. An added bonus - no wireless service. Sometimes being disconnected helps you see what’s really around you.
Watch out for the seed ticks and chiggers! Probably best visited in cooler months.
Love this place! It's a great place to go if you like rivers for fishing or floating. There are many trails around as well!
Great place scenery and it's just beautiful
Gorgeous day with my favorite person (my wife)! Autumn is here in full swing. The river was beautiful and flowing well. Great trails for great hiking. Steel Creek was steady but not overly busy. Can't think of a better way to spend a late October day.
Nice and clean.. we ran in to a lot of friendly people.
We had an incredible time we did about a 10 mile canoe trip ran by Dirst Rentals. We had an incredible time the scenery was stunning and the water was clear and cool.
I use to work on buffalo River, at BRO and Silver Hill canoe rental, on middle section of the river, I've also camped and kayaked and canoed. Know your rules and put In And take out points. It Is a rather pleasurable experience, the 18 yrs we've been here..........
This was a beautiful quiet spot and their wasn't too many people. Plenty of hiking trails or you can just drive down to the camp sites and take a short walk to the river
Good hiking trails like Hemmed Hallow, Old River Trail, and Goat trails! River is best to kayak canoe in late April and mid May!
beautiful camp ground hot showers very nice
It was one of my memorable experience in my life. An amazing camping site especially during September and November time. Temperature will go down to 0 degrees Celsius and we have to be better equipped for that weather. Also you need to buy all the necessary food and camping necessities while coming to this place for camp. You need to go longer to buy any food from there.
Kayaking down the Buffalo River was one of tue highlights of our family vacation in Arkansas. Whole family had a fantastic time. Only regret was we all wished we had done a longer route.
Very calming and water was great very clean state park I love it.
Absolutely beautiful area to get away, and enjoy nature.
Fun for float trip if you like to float
Absolutely beautiful and fun place to be for all ages
Beautiful Tyler bend at buffalo national river . Great place for kayaking canoeing camping or just hanging around for the day. Wildlife and serenity together. One of my fav places for hiking and canoeing
Beautiful place that is wholly maintained by the national park service. I recommend everyone should go and experience the beauty of the ozarks
I love here the Beauty is Breathtaking
Renting the canoes was totally worth it..about sixty bucks each....be ready to tip it happens but the six hour route was exhilarating and great for family reunion....lots of places to stop and play, lots of other ppl depending on what time of year you do it go for it!
Greatest place ever. No cell service no TV reception just plain old fashion fun.
My favorite place to camp, conoe, float, swim, and cook! What ever you need, there is store nearby that sells it. Want to rent a cabin or 2? They have that, too.
Want to see natures splendor this is the place to go.
The quiet serenity and unspoiled natural beauty of the river, the forests and rock bluffs is outstanding.
Beautiful Sight to see serenity.
It was expeditious and adventuresome. I liked it. Gave me a great experience along a group.
A must stop to relax and enjoy such a beautiful place....
Beautiful scenery and so much fun! There was a group of about 25 of us and we all had a blast!
This is our go to for floating. Beautiful scenery and plenty of open space.
So beautiful. Nature at its finest.
Incredibly beautiful river vally! And it's a National Park, so there is all kinds of really good information, from maps to outfitters, and suggestions of other places to visit nearby. Go to nps.gov and search buffalo river. I always start with the plan your visit page. When you get to the park make sure to stop by the visitor's center. There is usually a short movie about the park, but the rangers and volunteers are almost always the national treasures. Those guys know and love their parks and are happy to help with your plans or just chat.
Nice place for picnic... clean and clear.. we loved the place
nice reservable water/electric hookups
Beautiful place. If your just passing thru, stop by. Get out of your car and walk around. We took a hour walk down a path by the river and it was amazing. Great place
Beautiful clean, clear river! Excellent kayaking
Awesome scenery. The Buffalo River is clean, clear, and cold! Love it. Looks like a great river to float near the campgrounds.
Untouched beauty! Great place to take the family.
Buffalo Point near Yellville is amazing! The Milky Way at night so clear. The river during the day surrounded by the fall colors. The sunrise spectacular from the restaurant up by the cabins with the For rising off the river. The tent campsites walk in $16 no electric but along the river bank you can hear it during the night to lull you off to sleep. Hiking the Indian Rock house trail is amazing. The wildlife. Love it all!
It's gorgeous! This is the best river to visit in the area!
River was great had a blast wild bills outfitters did a great job cabin and float trip was great
First time for my kids and they had a blast. Absolutely loved it and can't wait to return this summer to go swimming and fishing and their first time in a boat!! Beautiful place.
This is outdoors at it's best! Dress accordingly, take water & food.
The heart of the ozarks. Turn off your cell phones (if you have service) and enjoy the beauty. Canoeing, hiking, horseback trails, camping (campsite & primitive), swimming, fishing, farting, whatever you wanna do here you will enjoy it. Every turn of the river is beautiful.
The Buffalo National River is beautiful! Very fun to float, as long as there's enough water in it.
Epic hikes. Vista views. Nice facilities. Helpful rangers.
When we arrived on Saturday the middle and lower river was closed (opens at 10.4ft Harriet gage), so we camped at Rush. It is $16 cash, pay at the camp place. We had to wait for the river to drop to get across the creeks. There was a Jeep that had not made it across and was pushed down river. The gage was 1ft but we waited until it was 6 inches. The next day we got on the river at Dillards Ferry. It was moving about 4 miles per hour without paddling. Not any crazy rapids until Clabber Creek. The waves were about 4ft. We decided to try to go left through the flooded trees. Three first 2 made it but I got stuck. When I tried to pull it through the water pulled the boat from me. While my friend saved my tandem kayak with my gear, he lost his paddle. We had to camp just after the clabber creek shoals to regroup and make a paddle. We had 4 full days of food and gear and the water was moving 3.5 miles per hour so we could make up ground fast. After clabber creek there was a few large rapids but nothing impassable. The bluffs were amazing to see. There were 5-7 chances to see bald eagles. After 2 hours in from Dillards ferry, we saw 2 boats and 4 total people before the White river. After hitting the White river things get very boring you coast until the end. We went through Buffalo River Float Service and they brought our truck to us a day early with the water going so fast. We went 10 miles day one, 19 miles day two, and 10 miles day 3 all without much paddling and the river between 10ft and 6ft at Harriet gage. Relaxing and beautiful trip!
Mon n Tues river was empty made for great camping
I had fun diving here
good morning! this is sherry's husband . I'm using her computer, she is much prettier than I am !! lol. Anyway ,we have had tons of problems trying to rv and decided to come Arkansas next week. have been doing research on the weather and flooding and hadn't found any good information on area we wanted to go . by google every where in Ar. is flooded ! tired of using the computer I used a old fashioned telephone and talked to a person. she is a dispatcher with the buffalo national river area. between her and her colleagues they took the time to look and give real time information on the ground. ! numbers to call and look at on computer. I have spent over 20 years backpacking and camping in Arkansas and have never ran into any thing but great helpful people of the parks and national and state and their facilities. I love it down there and thank you for the time you spent with me. can't say enough!
Friday the 13th 9/13/19 full moon float down the Buffalo River. Good times!
Very beautiful very good and very friendly for family
Most amazing river to float on. Scenery is just amazing and the water is Crystal clear. Only issue is the crazy aggressive park rangers hassling people and handing out Open container fines and dui's to people driving on the sandbars to pick up their kayaks. I have not seen this on any other float rivers...
Gorgeous spring fed river! Always love driving over this area. We have stopped and swam before and it was the best spot! Would love to explore this area more in the future!
. The Tyler Bend area of the Buffalo is a very beautiful and relaxing and tranquil area to relax and unwind
Great class 2 paddling on the upper section. Nice campsites. No crowds in early May.
I love this place! It's also kinda nice to not have phone service in the valley so that you can fully enjoy the beauty and solitude (once the occasional big trucks thunder past). Wifi is available at a couple of places if you just need to check in with the outside world
Awesome place for small kids and family
Absolutely gorgeous area. If you want to experience the real side of Arkansas I would highly recommend stopping by!
Beautiful float and made even better by Crockett's
Our most recent float was 05/15/19. The water was at 7ft. We floated in a raft from Silver Hills outfitters from Tyler Bend to Gilbert, which took us about 3 hours. We hardly had to paddle at all, and the weather was great. There were a few shallow spots we had to navigate through, but they were fun, not annoying. We saw lots of turtles, one snake, a medium-size fish, and plenty of minnows. We skipped a few rocks at Gilbert, ate lunch on a gravel bar, and generally had a very enjoyable time. We had 5 kids aged 1-7 years. They had a good time too, and it was a good activity for them.
It's difficult to review and entire river. For anyone who enjoys the outdoors, the Buffalo National River offers at least something. Canoeing, kayaking and rafting are obvious choices, but there are also campsites, caves, cabins and even cafes along the way. Don't forget to check out the abundant wildlife and myriad waterfalls in the vicinity. Many small towns along the river offer their own hospitality and amenities.
Perfect Day to float the Buffalo! This is a great place to start!!
Beautiful place. A bit confusing to get to but definitely worth it. I recommend taking snacks and drinks, they're a bit expensive at their convenience store. Other than that will definitely be going back.
I grew up on the Buffalo National River, it has and always will be a place close to my heart. I've have many camping, fishing and canoeing trips on the Buffalo. As well as some very pretty hiking trails.
Always a good time on the Buffalo. Weekends can be crowded. Rangers are real nice and always there in case of emergencies. Help keep the Buffalo clean!
Absolutely beautiful river and so well maintained by the park service. The park ranger we meet before we got on the river with our kayaks was friendly and gave us great advice on how the river was flowing.
Beautiful setting, clean campsite with an outhouse nearby for 'city folk'...did I mention no camping fee?
As the first ever National river way, it has a lot to offer! The paddling is the best in the Ozarks and has incredible views. The hiking is equally stellar with many different lengths and difficulties to keep you coming back!
I grew up here. There is no other place like it
Float trip with our church youth and family. Great experience
Wonderful wild area. Many beautiful sites. Great canoe trips. Best when not too hot weather.
A lot of rowing, water levels are low, but a great time!
Hike from Compton trailhead to hemmed in falls was amazing but tough for 5 mile hike
One word... Beautiful.
BEAUTIFUL, serene, nature at its finest. Cold clean fresh water, breathtaking views, peaceful, calm, refreshing, and so much fun. Jumping off rocks and rope swings, skipping rocks and finding crawfish are just a few things to do while kayaking and canoeing. Bring a pole and cast away too
One of the greatest American treasures! It was the first National river to be designated in the U.S. in case you didn't know that. So many fabulous hiking trails along this treasure. Enjoy nature and adventures on the Buffalo River!
Beautiful scenery! clean clear river good for recreation
Love the Buffalo River. Fun day.
A nice river to take a float trip down
Beautiful river, clean and pristine. Plenty of outfitters to gear up with and float on. Some parts of the river can be tricky for novices but water conditions rarely meet class 2 standards. An ideal day trip is from Ponca to Kyle's Landing. For extended, multi-day, floats I suggest Ponca to Pruitt (or Carver). Camping on the river is idyllic, especially when the water level is just right. Lots of options. Highly recommend this river.
Nope... do not go here! I would say this is truly an awesome beautiful place but I don't want to get the word out.
Beautiful! Water is super clean and clear. Definitely worth the drive. We'll be coming back tomorrow to go on the canoes. Highly recommend this place for a family trip!
It was ok, way to many people though, when there isnt many people it fine. Crooked creek is much better. Just my opinion though.
We did the Lost Valley trail to see Eden Falls. Incredible. Easy walk for a while before falls and then there are series of steps. Rocks can be really slick so wear good shoes. I think the steepness of the stairs is what makes the trail "moderate". Worth it though.
Amazing is the only word... Worth every penny to come kayak down this river... Its a must do. The pic is a local watetfall.
Beautiful place to enjoy floating down the river on an inner tube, kayak, or canoe. Make sure to take drinks that are in plastic or aluminum containers. There are national park rangers on site and expect to run into several people enjoying the float during the summer. There is a rental shop available for your preference of float carrier options as well as service to drive your vehicle down to a pick-up point. Enjoy nature & good company!
So beautiful! Planning to go back next weekend to camp and clean. Please remember campers, respect this river so it stays beautiful! Pack it in...pack it out!
Top notch paddling, fishing, camping, hiking and swimming. Lots of people picnicking as well. I just keep going back! I also stopped in the visitor center and it had a friendly ranger and a great deal of information. Great destination for the family.
Full of natural beauty. Alot of outdoor activities all around. I highly recommend it.
One of the best rivers to float or just hang out at. Super clear water or super scenic views. Lots of day hiking trails. Lots of overnight and multi-day backpacking trails. One of the most scenic places in Arkansas.
We absolutely love this place! From the trails all the way to the stunning river! The Indian Rock House is by far one of the most amazing trails I have ever been on... There is so much to see and do! You have to see this place in person to really soak it all in. You won't be disappointed! :)
Always a great place to visit.
Amazing place to swim, kayak and go treking
The water at the river is so clean and clear! The river only looks muddy and brown from afar because you can see the rocks and pebbles at the bottom of the lack so clearly. The scenery is stunning and the only negative thing I can point out is that the river is so long and massive that I was not able to see everything. The falls along the west end is so lovely.
Good place to float and enjoy nature.
The scenery is amazing. Plenty of camping along the river and lots of wildlife. Will go back for sure!
Beautiful scenery and a relaxing float ride.
Always a great place to visit. I usually backpack this area but have spent time canoeing and kayaking this river. It was actually still floatable for so late in the season. Nice temperature too.
Floated with Buffalo outdoor center Steele's creek to Kyle's landing. Super busy this weekend, well run and lots of fun.
An absolutely amazing location! Quite possibly one of the most beautiful in the entire region! A definite must for for any and all outdoors enthusiast!!
Had lunch at Buffalo point restaurant great breakfast and nice view of river
Did the mile float trip on tubes , loved it , wasn't to long or to short . Took our own tubes and got borrowed free life jacket from visitors center at Tyler's bend .
Buffalo Point float trip was awesome. The restaurant has the best fried chicken and peanut butter pie ever. 3 years in a row for us. A must do forever.
Such a beautiful place worth the drive I will go back
Grab a canoe and go on a float trip, pitch a tent and go camping, or just take a cool dip in the river!
Do your homework before you go! The river is 135 miles long, the character changes dramatically depending on season and location. There's something for everyone, but not everywhere in the park, or at all times. Personally, I prefer the lower river in the fall and winter.
Visited twice to canoed. Most recently ran the Steel Creek portion of the river trail. Awesome trail
Great trails for you and your dogs at Tyler Bend. Watch for spiders and ticks, though it is the woods. The view of the Buffalo from overlook on the homestead trail is wonderful.
What a treasurer
What's not to like, deer, fish, scenery, cold beverage etc. And as always great people you don't even know
Floated from Rush to Buffalo City. The extra $5 to shuttle to Riley's vs. the public landing well worth it. The people at Wild Bill's and Riley's were fabulous, friendly and very knowledgeable.
We love coming here every year to float the river and explore! The area is beautiful and clean. The water is clear and the bluffs are high. Highly recommended float trip!
It was awesome as per usual. Nobody does the Buffalo River quite like me. I am amazing at it. Still, you just gotta love our national river and its unique features through Arkansas. Hike more, worry less!
A little piece of heaven right here in Arkansas
Watch out for park rangers. They snuck up on us at night and searched through our campsite, dug through my backpack, and kept asking us where we were hiding our drugs. Not a good experience, I've never been accused of being a criminal for no reason whatsoever.
Why wouldn't you love a river? Seanery, water, camping, hiking . Love this place
I thought it was beautiful, but I wish it would have stayed the waterfall is only in the spring or rainy season.
Beautiful country! The road is a bit sketchy at some points, but worth the drive.
