It was just okay. I mean you pay a good bit to go see a building in the side of a mountain. Cant go in it, you can only see it from a distance and this was all there was. Place was really nice and clean but we stayed for about 30 minutes and left. Nice for a good picture but that's about it. Spent 20 years in Europe and have seen castles, to me this is no castle.

A very small but very interesting park. The Adobe was abandoned 600 years ago, so access is restricted. Ok, in reality there is no access. You can walk 150 yards our so and gaze at the cloud face and buildings. The rangers do a good job of bringing it somewhat to life. And the local playing the native American flute creates a beautiful time for the afternoon. you'll only be there for an hour most likely.

It's neat and educational. It's fun to go look at and learn about the people who lived there. But it's not somewhere you'd spend a whole day. And pretty expensive for groups. But not something you'll see anywhere else.

Not to be missed. Ancient cliff dwelling Pueblo Indian village. There is a fee if you do not have a national park pass. The walk from the parking lot is easy. Allow 30 minutes to read everything and view the village build into the rock.

Saw the signs for this place while camping up in Coconino National forest and decided to stop to check it out. I liked that it was a fairly short hike on a totally paved path to the cliff dwelling from the visitor center. Not as impressive as Mesa Verde but still pretty cool. It's a quick hike to walk the entire trail. 30 minutes to an hour depending on how often you stop for photos and to read all the information plaques along the trail.

Astounding! How these were built in the mountain side. The castle is the largest of these, but the rest are like apartment buildings. They are all on the side of the mountain and you can feel the hustle and bustle of the people from days past.

A short walk on a paved path, leads to a glimpse of the past. Imagine living on the side of a mountain, as you gaze up to this historical landmark, Montezuma castle. Historical fact, the name of this landmark has no connection to the people who lived here. For more information visit this site and talk with the wonderful park rangers on staff. They are knowledgeable and friendly.

Free with Annual National Parks Pass, otherwise fee needed. We enjoyed our 1st trip there, lots of interesting info inside the visitors center too.

The "castle" itself is the high point of the visit. There is a museum on the grounds which is supposed to have a diorama showing the inside of the dwelling. It was never Montezuma's. But if you're already in the area it's ok.

It’s best and worth having an annual national park pass. Kids are are free under 16 and all others are $10 a person. Great low key self pace experience with a good piece of history to enjoy.

An amazing national site reminding us that many people came before us. If you have kids, ask the ranger for a junior ranger pamphlet. It kept my kids highly engaged and we loved the badge/ceremony they earned at the end.

Very green for Arizona. It’s a neat place to stop. Unfortunately you’d have trouble finding more than 15 minutes worth of stuff to do. As for the monument itself, it’s neat to look at, but you can’t get a good view of it or even get near it, so if you’re here to explore you’re out of luck. 100% of the land around the monument was closed for re-vegetation, so keep that in mind. When you visit, you’ll be standing in a line of tourists to snap a few photos then leave

Great place to visit to see unique features from the past. It is a National Monument with a day use fee. Not very busy which was nice. Staff very helpful and answer any and all questions. Short walk to view points. Floral and fauna can bite so use care. Can't get close because others in the past have taken artifacts. It is a short visit but well worth it. Kids like the prickly pear gummy bears.

Very cool place and super interesting. Concrete pad to walk on. Can push someone in a wheelchair/stroller to go see it. Takes about 30 minutes to go through and read everything. Nice gift shop. Bathrooms were clean.

Place is in desperate need of a clean up . there is dead brush throughout the walkways it doesn't appear that there is anyone who maintains the appearance of this place. Just figured you have to pay an entry fee to see the the small cliff dwelling, you would think it would be better maintained.

A short walk here is the perfect start to any adventure. Although there is no hike, there is plenty of history to learn and the majesty of the “castle” built into the nearby cliff. To witness and hear about the ingenuity of the indigenous tribes is wonderful and well worth your time.

This was a really interesting place to visit. The "castle " is carved right into the sandstone cliff. Additionally there is a nice gift shop at the entrance. This is a national park, so there is a charge for entrance. Parking is easy. The walk to the castle is only a hundred yards or so.... it's paved the whole way, so it's quite easy for all abilities.

Good history on the Hopi (and other) Indian tribes who lay claim on making stops at what is now called Montezuma Castle. (Although king Montezuma never came near the area) Neat to learn that most people never really made the cliff dwelling a permanent home, but like a hotel, stayed long enough to refresh then move onto more hospitable lands. There had to have been a few people who stayed around to fish, make clay, harvest the many plants (including cotton) , and upkeep the cliff dwellings.

This sight offers great information on the rock dwelling as well as a lot of the surrounding plants and trees. We were glad to make this stop on our way to Sedona. We also appreciated the 1/3 mile walk to stretch our legs before getting back on the road.

False advertising. Not a castle and had nothing to do with Montezuma. You cannot go into the structure. The path is 1/3 mile. Gift shop is extremely expensive. Cool to see(from the path) but not worth the drive.

Easy walk, wheelchair accessible, nice gift shop. All of the walkways were paved. There are a lot of shaded areas covered by tarps. We didnt get time to do the wells, would reccomend giving yourself atleast an hour if you would like to see both.

Very nice visitor center, friendly staff. Admission free with a national parks pass otherwise there is a per person admission at the door. Sign at the start of the drive towards the park indicates vehicles under 45'. We visited pulling a TT and there were three oversized spots at the top of the parking lot that were already filled with two TTs and a group of motorcycles. Very busy today.

Wow. Just Wow. They said it's one third of a mile and I was not prepared.... I was looking at a tree and then looked over to see something that just awed me. The Castle. And then I read how they created it and that you can still see their handprints in the mud. Definitely a must see if you are in the area.

As a fan of history, I normally find this kind of thing fascinating, and historically, it is. However after a recent trip to the spectacular Grand Canyon for only $35 for 7 people in a vehicle, paying $40 for 4 adults to see this tiny park seemed ridiculous. The staff was great, but there really isn't much to this place. Totally worth it if you have an annual pass, but not particularly worth it if you're just paying to see this park alone.

Cool National Park to stop by if you are in the area. The America the Beautiful pass got us in for free. It would have been a much harder pill to swallow at $10 per adult. Cool to see how people lived 900 years ago.

Always wanted to go here when I was growing up. Finally made it with my husband and kids! It was beautiful! Not a long walk and the path is paved so it is good for any age, walking or rolling (stroller, walker, or wheelchair lol). Definitely a worth-while trip and the surrounding area is beautiful too! Great exhibit inside with information on the tribes that settled there also.

This is a well preserved cliff dwelling that shows the history of the early Southwest region of the US. The cost to get in can be steep for a large family but if you purchase an annual pass to the national parks you can get in for free as well at other parks in the area such as the Grand Canyon, and Petrified Forest. There are smooth paved walking trails to see everything so access to the park should be easy for most anyone. The park rangers and staff are very friendly and willing to help out.

Very interesting visit. However, I question the $10 per person price tag. Thankfully, the ranger was kind enough to use our previous Grand Canyon National Park entrance receipt and allow us to upgrade to an America the Beautiful annual pass. The monument is interesting, good for about a 30 stroll around the grounds and museum. The museum also has a very good junior ranger scavenger hunt for the kids. I wouldn’t quite rank this a must-see if strapped for time in the Grand Canyon area, but fun if you have the time.

History and Beauty all rolled up in one. Defiantly a must stop on your trip. First of all, hard to believe there were people and communities that lived and existed like this at one time. Standing below this wall had me mesmerized right where I stood. Then to learn about the history on this what made it come to be was completely mind boggling. There are a lot of signs boards to read as you walk through but it would have been awesome to have a ranger there to tell the history and be able to ask questions to. Non the less, if your passing close by, take the time to stop and take it all in.

I really like this park because people can see the ruins from the path, but they can't get up there and ruin it. It's very interesting, it's well presented and the staff is nice. If you don't have a specific interest in the monument and you just want to see the monument, this is a quick stop. It's very nice and worth the trip.

I was disappointed that I couldn't go in the castle, until I got there and saw the crowds. All those people inside those little corridors would be a special kind of hell. I wonder if you can get a permit to see inside it. I had a Parks pass, but I would've been bummed if I paid for this. The castle is far away and there's not much in person that you can't see in a photograph. Just being honest

It's a beautiful area and one of the park rangers that was there has been around quite a while and has been up in the castle several times. He related to us what it was like when you could go up there, which I believe has been discontinued for about 30 years. The knowledge he had regarding how it was built and the upkeep that was done on it annually made it much more interesting for us.

Beautiful place! It still looks the same as when I was a little child coming here on field trip. If you are interested in the history of the Verde Valley this is must stop. It won't take long and your entrance fee works for Montezuma Well and Tuzigoot as well.

Free National Park Day! How do you beat that? This is a hidden gem and not only are the cliff dwellings a sight to see but the change in flora and fauna is spectacular. That was a bonus. The sycamores are pure art.

This place is so cool. Easy 100 yard walk down a paved path. Through a display window you can see a model of the castle that can be seen by looking up toward the cliff overhead. The rangers have stories and information to share and the visitor center has artifacts from the past. Jr. Ranger programs are available for kids

Lots to see and read. Lots of trees and a light breeze blows through the trails of the viewing area, so even on the hottest days, this visit is bearable. Do note that this place isn't free. You will have to keep in mind of the prices of visiting national parks.

This is a great stop for anyone with kids. The walking trail is fully paved and wide which was great for our stroller. There are a lot of places to stop and rest in the shade. The park rangers were all very friendly and had a scavenger hunt for the kids to do on the trail which made it extra engaging for them.

This is a “Must See” if you are exploring Arizona back country right off highway 17 about an hour north of Phoenix. If you like Native American history you won’t be disappointed here. Easy walk around the location and great park staff!

Beautiful, interesting monument. It's an easy, tranquil walk. Allow at least 30 minutes to read all the pertinent, informative material at the visitors center and on the trail. Friendly rangers make the experience fun for the kids. Buy a national park pass if you plan on visiting more than one site. They're good for a year and cover more than one person.

This Pueblo for the cliff dwellers 1000 years ago is absolutely wonderful. It's amazing that people could live on those cliffs so high and so narrow and fur a few hundred years -- just amazing.

Our family stopped here with the grandkids. It was very interesting. The Park Rangers were very nice and knowledgeable. The hike (walk) was easy and I would recommend checking it out. The kids were given a little booklet to cross off things they see on the hike and then at the end the Ranger gives them a Junior Ranger badge which really made their day. Glad we stopped by and checked this out. Amazing!

A short, easy walk to a pretty cool piece of history. You can't enter the ruins for the sake of preservation, but there are pretty extensive dwellings to view. Worth a visit, but I'm content with having seen it just the once.

I like visiting national parks and monuments so here we are. I don't like the cost to visit this one. Dwellings in the side of a mountain and a well is further north. All these are in the Camp Verde area. These are cool to look at and peruse. I believe these were created by the original indigenous folks living here (Hohokam?) like in the 1200s. Could have my dates wrong.

Great place for a quick family trip. Not something I would go very out of the way to go to, but definitely worth an hour of your time. My family was traveling from Phoenix to Sedona for the day and although we were exhausted, we decided to take a stop here. Price was not bad ($10 per person) and the gift shop had inexpensive novelty kind of things you’d find generally at a National Park gift shop. Signs were very informative and everyone was very respectful of the culture and history that were on the grounds!

This is a neat find, nestle in the mountains is an abandon Indian village. The park is great to come and spend the day, beautiful Arizona white sycamore trees with a creek running along the property. My tip would be go earlu and bring a picnic with you because the area is that pretty. I would not say this during the hot months since I have discovered how hot Arizona heat can be in June. The ticket is about $10 per person and its free parking, only keep in mind the parking lot fills up fast.

Must visit when in Arizona and going to the Grand Canyon. Breath taking historic site. Great for all ages and people all obey the world to see. The park employees are friendly and knowledgeable. Be sure you take in all the history with out being behind the camera or cell phone. You can soak in all the history with the views here. A very important tip is to make sure have enough water when thing into the park. The walk isn't that far but with the heat and the time spent looking at everything, water is a must.

It is a well paved short loop for all ages young and old. See the castle and loop around to beaver creek less then half mile. Very clean and good information along the path. The well is a little more rigorous trail with steps but amazing view and very peaceful if you make the drive. The well is free.

Love visiting places like this. $10 per adult, it has a small but very informative museum before you head out. Beaver river is nearby and can hear it as soon as you step out of your car, no access to it though. The people working and park guides are amazing. The walk around the park takes about 15-20 minutes.

It's a quick trip visiting Sedona or heading to flagstaff from Phoenix. I only spent about ten minutes there but I love the history so cool to see how they built back then. And the fact it has held up this long is impressive

One of the top class National Monuments in the country. Perched up high on a cliff, it provides a fairly close up view of the life of these ancient folk. If you are going to Sedona, take a detour to this place. You can thank me later!

A very nice place to visit. Makes you wonder how people used to live in the past. Things were harder and easier back then in different ways from today. The history is rich. Wish there was a guide out talking to us about the site. For $10 fee per person to walk around a small loop, it was a bit pricey. But I hope the money goes to help keep this monument and history going.

The pictures online don't look like much but once you get down there it is pretty mind blowing when you realize it was all built without modern technology. Definitely worth the visit.

This was a most awesome experience! What a riverside paradise the inhabitants of the day enjoyed. Not hard to understand why they chose this site. If you have the chance to see it, do! Very easy drive. Paved and mostly level walking paths make this special place accessible to most everyone.

This was a nice stroll Outdoors and they have a visitor center but it's really small. This is a good place if history buff or if you want to do something short with your family takes less than an hour to go to. If you go during hot season make sure you take water bottles with you no food there aren't many trash cans. Also take a camera that zooms for photos. you cannot get into the runs anymore only look. Also there are no tours but there are signs that detail about the area. It's a self-guided tour. The well and other paths are separate from this area.

I'm glad the family took the time to go out and visit Montezuma Castle. Although you can't walk into the ruins, the view from the valley floor is spectacular. The staff in the visitor center were so helpful and nice. They're was even a gentleman playing the flute. And for those who are worried, it's a super easy loop trail that is paved.

Beautiful monument capturing the incredible history of some of the Native American lifestyles. It's hard to imagine living in these caves along the side of cliffs yet some people were able to do so for a long period of time.

Wonderful piece of history in a beautiful location. Enjoyable stop that doesn’t take a lot of time. We were there about an hour and that included eating our lunch in the picnic area. Places like this make the National Parks pass worthwhile.

Very cool place to visit! Handicapped accessable. Walk is short. Friendly staff at the visitors center. Only complaint is that it's $10/person for such a short walk.
