Now the business has a rating of 4.2 over 5 and that rating is based on 1823 reviews.

As you can read, its rating is quite high, and it is based on a very large number of feddbacks, so we may conclude that the evaluation is quite reliable. If there are many people who bothered to leave their feddback when they've done well with the service, is that it works.

REVIEWS OF Big Surf IN Arizona

Okay so Big Surf has enjoyed the luxury of not having much competition in the valley, which means they never really had to do much renovations to the property. The place looks virtually the same as it did in the 90’s. For that reason it is a three star water park. You can still have fun at the park, just could do a bit better. Slippery areas, also hot on the feet of you or your kids are barefoot in several areas of the park.

sahar mo

love it

Rob Baresel

Great place to relax and let the kids play. Food is not overly expensive. I ordered a large pizza and drinks for five and it was enough for all of us for under 25. The only problem is there isn't enough shade for the number of people they let in the park. Get there early or wait for someone to leave are your only options. The kids always love going. Their was one police officer on duty walking around, which I thought was great. I wasn't worried about someone taking our stuff from our seats while we were playing. They have lockers, changing rooms and plenty of restrooms.

chris mcgraw

Very large waves. Best wave pool around.

Krusen1022 .

Fun little water park that turned 50 in 2019. The Wave pool was very large and fun. They could do some maintenance on the water slides. If they renovated this place could be really cool with its history. No lazy river on site. Didn't try the food. You can go in and out so we ate out of our cooler in the parking lot.

Bianca Salvatore

Love love love this place wish that we didn't have to get our money back because the Big Kahuna wasn't working right we can clear from out of state this frustrates me LOL other than that I love this place and can't wait till next season.

Steve Harney

Had a great day with the kids. Very family friendly place. Plenty of shade and areas to relax.

Linsey Lucia

I wanted to love this place...I took my 6 year old son for this first time. It was OKAY, but there were definitely some safety issues and there is a lot of renovations that need to be made. There were two times our raft got caught (double raft) in a slide and almost turned around in an enclosed slide, and another park patron’s actually did. Then on the white slide, the tube felt too big and was dragging along the sides at times and my feet kept hitting the sides, so naturally I brought my feet in, but I also almost hit my head...I really didn’t feel safe on that one. The slides and towers were super rusted. Everything else was fine, and despite everything we had a great time!

Linda Collins

Way too crowded!! Used to love going to Big Surf. Hard to enjoy yourself when there are so many people.

Bessie Parsons

Nice, big and lots to do. i like how some of slides have ramps and not stairs i think its more safe when wet. Slides are good, pool is good and lockers are good. Staff is nice and friendly all they are missing is a lazy river. Chairs and shade are good. I was there on vacation and it was a great way to spend 3 hours in the morning.

Pamela Sipes

It was very fun! And the food was delicious ❤

Sara Castro

I had such a lovely time with my family! I would very much reccomend the wave pool! It is very fun!

Julius Blair

It's a great place to take the kids to have fun. the best way is to bring a lunch so when they close the wave pool for surfers then you can go and get some good lunch and the parking lot and come back in to enjoy the rest of your day. bring some sunscreen and some water bottles or your own water that's what you're allowed to bring in

Timothy S

Honestly, the overall experience here is not that great. The amount of chairs is not nearly enough for the amount of people that come during peak hours. The food is over priced and nothing is "fresh" as it's all processed and frozen. The drinks are over priced, and of course you cant bring in outside beverages, because that means they arent making money. And lets be honest, they took the sand away from the location and it is just nothing but hot concrete no matter where you go. Overall, not a pleasurable experience.

Ashley green

Love this place, so much fun everytime we come. Great for ALL ages.

Juan Trevino

1st time here and the family live it! Family had a blast!

Kenny Kubitz

Just took the kids and it was a great time. Show up early cuz by 2-3 it's pretty packed. Can't go wrong with the original wave pool! It's also pretty cool to take my boys to a water park I went to as a kid. Without the Groupon though the price would have definitely been too much.

Bob Youens

Huge, exceptional wave pool surrounded by great water slides. Some of the tubes have LED's in then for a psychedelic effect (something like the end of "2001: A Space Odyssey") as one is zooming by them in darkness). Others are open and one can see the park, city and sunshine. This is one of the best and most exhilarating experiences of my summers.

az nians

Was our first time & surprised(a very good one) and really nice place to hang out with family.

Lolita Vaquero

Family fun for everyone!! Thanks a lot Big Surf!

Juan Ruiz

Nice cold water place to be to get out with familiy and have a good time

Jasmine Ruiz

Family friendly. Love the quality of service. From the friendly lifeguards.

Josh Grabek

Great time in the wave pool. Great for kids and adults alike. Slides are limited but fun.

Kai Carlos

I just got a season pass for my family and it's so worth it. I love how they have discounts on food and that they have a free locker where you can bring your own padlock. Other theme parks require you to pay for lockers and the food is so expensive. Not Big Surf. They obviously care about people's budget.

Matthew Landess

This place has a great wave pool and some fun slides. Prices are good, but the equipment needs some updates. Also the water was very cold

Kyle Wright

We took a surfing lesson, two mornings with minimal people. After trying to get lessons in California, this was the best experience! John was a great instructor who by the first day led us to take a wave all the way in. Highly recommended!

Cherie Rodriguez

We always have so much fun. It's a blast for the whole family!

Tempe's gem! This isn't a huge water park but it is a great place to take you back in time. I love coming here with my family every weekend during the summer, it has become our #1 hang out place. Big surf is like a 70's time capsule, the vibe is chill and everyone who works here is super nice as well. There is a small area for non swimmers, a good size area for older kids just learning to swim, and tons of slides. My absolute favorite is the wave pool, they have boogie board and surf sessions every day the park is open. You can rent rafts, boogie board and surf boards.

Kenneth Hunt

I would definitely recommend Big Surf, more so that Hurricane Harbor. Much more fun experience and way more activities to do. My 6 year old loves going to Big Surf, I bring her at least 4-5 times every summer.

Milan Frederic

Went for band splash and was disappointed how some things were handled. We had to discard most belongings at the gate for security, including sun screen. Now safety is very important, but that meant hundreds of people had no sun protection for a concert from 12pm-9pm in 100° weather. The park also seemed quite run down, as well as the entrance to the wave pool being incredibly slippery - all day people were slipping and landing on the concrete. Is a nice park but needs some love.

Heather Easton

Super fun!! Will always go back when in AZ. This place is great for any age. Food is alright . Stack your wallet or find group deals

TramBien Howard

Loved it. Great family place. Lots to do for all ages.

Rick Sampson

This is the best and easiest way to escape the summer Blaze in AZ. We always buy Season Passes which are such a great deal. The Wave pool is well maintained and a lot of fun. You can ride waves on rafts, boogie boards or surf boards. Not at the same time as they have designated time slots for each. Pretty sure this is the only waveThe slide are lots of fun also and there are all knives of lounge chairs and shade structures. You need to be there within the first 30 min of opening if you want shade or you may have to share with a new friend. The food is pretty good and they have an amazing BBQ on the weekends. There is also a Bar with a view of the Wave Pool to cut loose a little while the kids go crazy. Great value for the money across the board.

cody miller

Great water park but it is very hot during the summer

Brenden Carducci

Fun wave pool. Great for kids and adults. The bar is not too expensive.

Nicole Nanny

Water fun for the whole family! Slides, splash pools, awesome wave pool and more! We love just floating along in the wave pool. Completely relaxing.

Stephanie Meredith

Kentucky Kingdom 2019 Awesome Amusement Park In Louisville Kentucky

Derek Correira

Reasonably priced, awesome wave pool, multiple water slides whether you want to go on a tube or not. Kid friendly areas. And free parking. Definitely a nice respite from a hot Phoenix summer day.

Santana Iles

It was nice to sit around and enjoy the breeze but I didn't get wet this time

Cassy Glass

Fun for toddlers to adults. Slides, a splash area, and a large wave pool. Lockers available to rent.

Laci Szabo

We come here every year! Love it so much. It just needs a little updating....

Chandra Cushman

My family went on opening weekend and we had a great time. It wasn't too busy which was great. Live that there are 2 bathrooms, lots of food choices and locker rentals. There are 2 areas for kids, one is for small kids, which is great.

Kristine L.

Park was fun and had more than one pool for younger kids. The wave pool was not so great. They shared time in the wave pool with surfing and body boarding so you wait an hour during time allotted for suffering (5 to 6) and body boarding (2 to 3) surf boards are 20$ to rent...?

Emilie Allen

It's dated for sure but it was still a ton of fun!!! Spent the day in the wave pool but there are some very fun slides that I did also. Some people say the water is too warm, swim to the deeper end for cooler water. Extras can be pretty expensive so just take your "need to haves" and lock up your valuables in the trunk as lockers are $7-$10 per day (all day). If you've a family and need a place to put your stuff it would be worth it I suppose. Didn't buy any extras but rafts for the wave pool are $7. Totally worth it. If you're not going rent a raft you're wasting your time and money. The slides have their own tubes. They have lots of palapas for shade. If you can't find one in the front, there are plenty near the slides (makes it a little more private as well). It's been 40 years since I was there the last time but I still had a blast. Oh, look for coupons at Costco or other places. 55+ only $15. Have fun!!!

Justin Ricketts

I do enjoy this place but it's sad to see the lack of maintenance. Especially with the 50th anniversary. Towers are rust buckets and there are slides that haven't worked for years. Unused wiring everywhere. A Zipline that's now just sitting rotting away. So much potential. It is either tough to survive in this business or owners just don't care anymore.

Rock City

Great family fun with my daughter for her birthday. The only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is because there aren't enough different attractions. It's just a few slides and the wave pool (which is always awesome).

somewhere out there

I like big surf. This place has the one and only real wave pool, that simulates the ocean. It's not choppy waves that rock you back and forth. The wave gets pulled up from the bottom, and actually creates an ocean like wave, all the way to the shore. Once you learn where to put your raft to surf to shore, it's a blast. Downside..... there doesn't seem to be enough lifeguards that watch the wave pool . It can be overly crowded. It's hard to control your raft when you're in the wave, so you end up rafting on top of someone else. Or someone else rides on top of you. That's fine and fun, but it's also a easy way that people get hurt and kicked in the head and whatnot. You have to watch out and take precaution for yourself. The food's pretty decent for a snack bar

Geneva Ballerstein

So much fun they closed early both days we went though? Whats up with that

Phil Dore

What to do with your grandkids when it is 115 degrees in Phoenix.. Very well managed and terrific staff.

Aaron Hale

Lots of fun. Great place to go with a family. Best wave pool around. But enough wave to catch and ride in.

Scott Soulages

Best advice: bring plenty of sunscreen and get here early to grab a spot in the shade. No outside food or drinks are allowed, except for sealed water bottles. We rented the surf rafts and had a blast riding the waves. The afternoon got a little crazy though with all of the people.

Zachariah Strango

Biggest waves in a wave pool and overall biggest wave pool I've been to. Other than that, they have limited ride selection, the food is way overpriced ($15 for a simple sandwich), and no lazy river. Overall recommend due to proximity to Tempe/Chandler/Mesa.

Josh Aguilar

Crazy expensive. They charge for Everything. Could not find water fountain so you must buy overpriced concessions. 3 "attractions" were closed. Place is way outdated. Timeshare reps at the front that bombard you right inside the gate. Would not recommend. Go to sunsplash. Way better value.

Michelle Fowler

Fun slides, big crowded wave pool, small park. Good for medium to small kids and young families.

Sharon Ellington

Great water slides and wave pool kids love it. Don't forget to bring your own lunch because food is kinda expensive, but you can't bring any food inside the park so be prepared to have a cooler with sandwiches and plenty of cold snacks. My kid was so excited he didn't leave for lunch until it was time for the Surfers to surf which was from 5-5:30 I think and no one can get in the wave pool without a Surf board. You should also bring your own Boggie board unless you want to pay $6 for a rental.

Michael Steedman

Family had a blast, we took advantage of a groupon. Some items could use a little updating but overall it was a good time for us and the kids.

Taylor Sheard

It has a good wave pool, but i personally am a water slide junky, so it isn't my cup of tea. But if you want to hang out with friends in the wave pool it is the perfect place. Sorry just not my thing.

Juan Hickman

The oldest water park is the best overall park. Check Groupon for discounted tickets before you go. The entry fee for other water parks in the area are much more expensive. Sure they have everything new, but there is plenty for everybody at Big Surf. I'm nostalgic though, I miss the sandy beach...The best deal for snacks is the ice cream cones. The buying food at the park is expensive. Be sure and go to the web site to check the swim-boggie board-surf times. Also what you are allowed to bring in. FYI- The last hour is for surfing-so slides are the option then. We all had a good time, the staff are pleasant and it is run well.

Sharon Bright

Kees Tabak

Got it on a deal on groupon for 50th aniversary. If you find cheaper ticketsits worth it but you can see all 50 years of wear.

Michelle Compton

Shows its age in some areas but still an absolute bast and offers all you need at a reasonable price.

Miracle Rocha

Great family fun and very clean!♡

Pink Bones

Fantastic... I would recommend big surf to any family wanting to enjoy life and just go out of your comfort zone.. Its a wonderful experience and just a simple pleasure..

Trick Shotz Basketball

Big surf is really a fun place to enjoy the day! The waves are AWESOME and the slides are pretty good, but the one thing Big Surf needs is some repairs being done. Some of the slides are closed because they are dangerous. This should be fixed. Other than that the park is super fun and I would recommend to all ages. Although the water could use some replacing.

Lyn Ann Lowman

My grandkids love going to Big Surf. I always have a good time also. Love the wave pool and all the different slides. Beach type look is very cool.

Tayler Zamora

It was fun but the water had a lot of floating hair and it was a little gross.

Julia Turner

Outdated but it doesn't matter. My kids every time have such a blast! They are 12, 11 and 9. Wave pool is always a hit and they love the slides too. I personally wouldn't spend $35 each for tickets.. Then we would never go but I seem to Win a 4 pack each year. I don't think food is overpriced. Pretzel or nachos for $3 slice of pizza and a drink for $6 after tax. They have shaved iced for $4. I'll keep going back as long as I win tickets ;)

Lucio Pihanna

Not the beach but still fun: I recently bought a season pass to spend my summer at Big Surf in Tempe. I have been there several times . I actually have been going to Big Surf on and off since it opened and spent quite a bit of time there in the 70s 80s and 90s. It is sad that this place has tried to compete with the big slide water parks. They are taking up so much of the room with the slides that it doesn’t seem beachy anymore. Gone is the sand, replaced by grass and cement. I do like the shade structures and lawn chairs; however, I wish they would let us supply own own seating. You are extremely limited on what you can actually bring in the park. No food, pool toys, drinks, or umbrellas... many people bring their food, leave it in their car, come out and sit out front in the little bit of grass that is there and have their lunch. They should put picnic tables out there for those people. The food inside is like most places, not too great, very basic choices, and overpriced. The one thing I really do commend them on is the cost for entry. You can get a yearly pass or a one day pass on Groupon for a very affordable price. A lot less price than you will pay at any of the other water parks. It does get pretty crowded and the wave pool becomes a “mosh pit” in the afternoon. Get there early and leave when it gets too crowded.

Michelle Marcos

It's expensive and the wave pool only has 1 wave like every 30 minutes if even that soon.... When I was a kid and when I took my kids it was worth every penny now it's kinda lame!!!

Tricia G.

I love Big Surf, I have since highschool. Now I enjoy it solo. Or with my bff, and kids. But I wish they would do some much needed updates around the park (including beach scene in background) areas in the different pools that are falling apart. Broken chaise lounges. Even with all of this, the crowds still flock here. Thank you for adding coffee bar/lounge. Yum yum yum

Elida La Rock

So many slides and the waves are great and the kiddy pools are awesome just love it

Elizabeth Pottle

So many bees! Everywhere. Not a sign of being proactive. We watched a kid het stung and nobody seemed to be surprised except the kid. So they dont have much in the way of shade... People piled belongs under the slides just to be out of the sun.

Dana Beveridge

Vendor at Thieves Flea Market it’s at Big Surf parking lot. This season starts October 5, 2019 and rated the best flea market in Phoenix new Times. I will be there as Hearts N HangUps With beautiful crystal creations and heart themed Swarovski crystal jewelry

Jacqy Scott

Small but just enough Family fun!

Kay Banks

great place for some kid, as well as adult fun but needs some upgrading. not many options for slides, and the waves on the wave pool dont seem to be as strong as they were last year. lifeguards are kinda rude as well yelling at children being rude like they hate their job. needs some serious changes made

Shrtdrgon Fly

Has free parking unlike other water parks in AZ. No waiting in hour long lines for food or drinks either. The kids all had fun in the slides and wave pool. Bar isn't too bad pricing as long as you don't want a double shot as our friend did. Both big surf and wet wild hurricane harbor are thirty mins from us and we'd rather big surf. Worth the money. Get a season pass well worth it.

D. M. Anderson

Really fun! This place is small version of wet n wild. Lots of attractions and activities for kids 10 and under

Helena Ramirez

This place has the most awesome wave pool

Adam Barnes

We brought our small private school to Big Surf today. Joe Shannon, the manager, took such good care of our group of 14. When we arrived, we had a space directly in front of the wave pool, with plenty of chairs and shade. He also provided us with a cooler full of water and gatorades. He ushered our group through the crowd which eliminated the long lines He ensured our students and team members had a great time, which we did! Venturing into the community with individuals living with autism can be challenging. Joe recognized that and his kindness is greatly appreciated. We will definitely be back!

Lulu Alleyne

Had lots of fun. Great place to go to cool off from the heat.

Kim Rogers

We love this place. They may not have the biggest baddest slides but the wave pool is awesome and I can keep an eye on the kids from anywhere. Definitely a plus!

David Castello

Big Surf is a pretty cool place to grt your water activity. The atmosphere is very mellow and staff members are effective. There is food (no outside food or drinks) and beverage service and you can beers at the bar. Water is clean and finding a place under the palapa is pretty easy although they could benefit from a few more. As an adult i found a lot of fun on the slides and wave pool. My 3 YO daughter also had plenty to do with multiple kid pools and even slides for toddlers. We ended up buying season passes as it is a nice substitute for a home pool and way cheaper. I think 1 pass per person is $50 or so. This place is cool for all ages.

Nicole Sulger

Great price for tickets, if you get there early you won't have lines, but the lines go pretty quickly. I would give 5 stars if all the slides were in operating order. On a hot day the enclosed slides are so hot inside, especially the black slide you can't wait for it to end.

Mike

Great place for families and people of all ages. We went on the last day of the season and the place was packed. Still little to no waiting for the water slides and plenty of shady spots to set up shop. I suggest hitting up groupon, food city, or bashas for discount tickets before coming. Also pack a lunch because you can grill out in the parking lot and come in and out as much as you like.

Jack Ingro

We had a great time with the family! My son hurt his foot and the attendants were so very friendly and great with us! Thank you

Yvng Infinity

Michelle Kleinman

On the smaller side which makes it easier to track my kids. Plenty for Toddlers, teens and adults to do. We buy the season pass each summer and find it's a good way to stay cool and wear the kids out. Bathrooms are always pretty gross and the food is way overpriced, but my kids love coming!

Corey Thompson

Not a lot of great rides. Old and run down. Fun for younger kids. Anyone over 10 will be bored quickly

Korbynn The Wight

Amazing pizza. Great slides and wave pool.

Jessica A

Buy the season pass if you plan on coming more than once. I'm not about the wave pool, but mainly just come here for my two year old to walk around in the water. Nice toddler area and baby slides. There's water buckets and water cannons. A nice shaded water bench in two feet of water for parents with kids. The older kids love the wave pool and renting rafts. All the slides are fun and the lifeguards do a decent job at enforcing rules and keeping the peace. The food and drink, of course, are outrageous. Overall a nice place for the summer with a season pass for some water fun.

Jack Reacher

Wave Pool is huge and set so one wave is unleashed every few minutes and this wave is surfable as mater of fact if you have a surf board there are designated times for surfing only. I prefer this to other parks that have a constant flow of smaller waves

Ariana Flores

Fun place to hang out or take the kids. It managed to feel small, definitely not crowded which was nice. We bought a locker but left many of our belongings at our chairs and felt safe to do so. The food, while not inexpensive, was reasonably priced and tastes better than I'd expect from a water park.

Shah of blah

Surfing in the wave pool was so fun! The other rides are cool as well, but the wave pool is the best part

Luz Elena Recendez-Tabuyo

Amazing!!! Family environment, special area for little kids, but also fun for adults, definitely coming back!

Koe T

We had a blast at Big Surf today. It's not overly crowded, the people are nice, it's easy to maneuver and keep track of your kids there, which as a parent I really appreciate. Plus the price is great. My boys were obsessed with the wave pool. My youngest really liked the slides Cyclone and Black Hole. The park is old school, but we like that. We got some Dippin' Dots on the way out of the park. Super fun time!

Frank Sweet

Poorly maintained and has not been updated in decades. Very few places to sit and relax. They have two lines, one to wait for a tube to go on the slide and the other line to ride the slide. If you go here bring your own chairs, wagon, towels, and port-a-potty.

Charlie Vargas

We attended a charity event here and the whole family had a blast. It's nice that they also have smaller slides for younger children.

Charis Acheampong

We had the best time, the place was not crowded and everything was reasonably priced!! The surf area with the raft was our favorite!!

Deonna

We got discount tickets through Groupon and arrived when the park opened. Luckily we found a covered spot, very limited. My first impression was older park, but maintained. We spent most of our time in the wave pool and tried 1 slide. There could be better signs. Our child went to the kid area and was turned away from the open colored slides because he as too tall. The park offers a little kid area restricting height, not the area he tried to use. We were disappointed. Also, we went to ride a double tube slide and when we got to the top of the ride found out the slide we wanted was single tube only. The wave pool sends 1 wave every 3.5 minutes and the boogie boards get the wave pool for 30 minutes a couple times during the day. It got very busy as the day went on. We had a good time, but will try a different place next time.

John Redenbaugh

Nice little water park. Wave pool is giant and fun. Food is ok.

kyhoward221

We got 18 dollar tickets from Food City and had a blast! Will definitely be back.

Jason Williams

It's fun , but looks like it needs some maintenance ie peeling paint and litter. I will go back, but get your tickets on Groupon, much cheaper.

RaQueL Ortega

Aside from my mom getting injured and breaking her toe at the entrance and not one employee (ticket booth or security) flinching to see if she was ok, as we yelled she was falling and hurt herself. We somewhat enjoyed the park. This was our first and most likely last visit there.

wendy draskovic

For the most part my boyfriend and I had a good time here, however, to get chairs so you could be comfortable , you had to get there very early and stand in line otherwise you are left with no place to sit. Why this is getting a one star rating from me ? Well on Saturday August 10th we had gone early as usual and were the first ones in line at the season pass holders gate. We were patiently waiting with others as the line grew longer and longer at the general admission line. It was nearly time to go in when someone came up to us all in the season pass holders line and asked...” do you have season passes?” We answered yes and she said we are not taking season passes here anymore, you have to wait in that line . Not at the front of the line where we had been standing for nearly 40 minutes, but at the back of a very long line that had been constantly growing. This happened 5 minutes before the park opened. There was no sign stating where we had to stand to get in, no sign stating all admissions through the general admission gate, no one came up to any of us standing there to let us know before the line was extra long that that’s where we needed to wait. In fact the girl who let us know that we had to wait in the other line had an attitude and walked away from us as we were still talking. We may be back in the next couple of weeks before the park closes for the year...but we shall not be buying season passes for Big Surf next year. We will be getting them from Hurricane Harbor, it’s closer to our house and has much more to do.

onthego kameelah

I had amazing time at Big Surf! It was my first time and I'm so glad I went. I hung out in the kid area near the wave pool with my friend. Then I headed to the slides. I went on all the slides. I recommend when it's a scorching AZ day!!!

Dina Baldauf

This water park is a great family experience. The food was not too bad and not expensive. The wave pool is huge and my kids loved the slides. The only problem we had is they need to add more lawn chairs. We went on a very slow day and it was so difficult to find even a couple. The staff was very nice and you can tell the lifeguards are very diligent and focused on safety. The lawn chair issue is not enough to deter our family from coming back though.

Kajzawesome _

Nice water park. Over priced real food. Not all slides in good/working condition. Wave pool is a favorite especially with rafts.

Dennis McClung

I love riding the rafts backwards in the wave pool. The life guards are on point. Love this place so much ❤

Peta-Gaye Chambers

I had a great time there.I can't pick a favorite ride.They all was awesome

jenny porter

First to start, I thought this was a different water park that I wanted to go to. They don't have the lazy river haha that's golf land. Now, since I'm over being disappointed that they didn't have the ride I wanted. My 6 year old doesn't swim yet and doesn't like the slides so we spent way more then I'd like you just go in 1 pool. The food is decent price and they have coffee! Got coffee and a bagel only to take a bite and the bagel is stale. So if you're a mom or dad with a child like mine, I do not recommend this place. Waste of money. Go to a public pool. And just be cautious of their foods.

Debbie Slotten

Fun place to take a 8 year to play. Season pass holder and like thw discounts i get

Shannon Dillard

My daughter and I love big surf. We love to do the wave over and over!

OCTAVIO PARRA

We had a great time!!! Ohhhh yeahhhhh

Keli Dersch-Baldonado

Best wave pool. Line ups during the week are minimal. Affordable.

Jason Franks

Very friendly staff, and fun place for the kids. My daughter lost her glasses in the wave pool and the staff took down a description and number in the event they were found. Get here early because unlike other places they don't rent out cabanas, it's first come first serve. Also not much change has occurred over the last 20 years. Still the same fun water park.

Michelle LaTour

We had a great time today! Big Surf is 50 years old! That's crazy! We had kids from 4yrs old -17 years old, they all had a great time!

Tim Foley

This place is fun! Beyond the rides being safe and fun, the employees overall had very good attitudes, and this matters tremendously. Thanks and good job y'all

bub bub

Cool place for kids. The water was clean and a nice temperature.

Shauna Norris

Completely overpriced, not enough tubes for the slides, way to long between waves. Definitely taking my business elsewhere next time.

Kristin Settle

It was fun. The wave pool was filthy though. I get there's alot of bodies in and out of there but i couldn't see my toes in the merkiness. Got our tickets on Groupon and it was only 19 bucks to get in. Just about every employee was on their phone when you walk up to the front.. the concession counter girl was friendly and very helpful.

Matthew Perales

It was a lot of fun, and a great way to cool off on a hot day in Phoenix. My toddler had a blast and the small pool was perfect for him.

April Stephens

A fun atmosphere with adventures for every age group! Whether your with family or friends you'll have a great time all day!

Christina Tink

Wasn't pleased. Park was smaller then I expected. Visiting park with family from out of state. Never been to a water park that had rude life guards and so many restrictions. Wave pool is nothing like the many water parks I have been to. Also 7 dollars to rent a blow up to play in the water is insane. Next time I visit Arizona I will be trying out a different water park.

Cameron Barclay

I understand that the park is 50 years old, and that is a huge milestone, but when everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, from furniture, rides, concessions, and even some of the general upkeep is beyond outdated it's hard to stomach shelling out the dollars they charge. I was lucky enough to pay $19 through groupon, but when I went, 4 of the slides werent even operational due to obvious structure problems. Sunsplash although more expensive is at least much better maintained and has far more and better attractions. Having fond memories of Big surf as a child makes me sad to see the place in such disarray.

Kevin Delvalle

The oldest water park is the best overall park. Check Groupon for discounted tickets before you go. The entry fee for other water parks in the area are much more expensive. Sure they have everything new, but there is plenty for everybody at Big Surf. I'm nostalgic though, I miss the sandy beach...The best deal for snacks is the ice cream cones. Consider eating before you go and then have some food in a cooler in your car and take a break to go and eat in the parking lot (They don't charge to park like other ones do). The buying food at the park is expensive. Be sure and go to the web site to check the swim-boggie board-surf times. Also what you are allowed to bring in. FYI- The last hour is for surfing-so slides are the option then.

Fossil Fule

Had a great time with my family here!

Jacob Fulton

An affordable option for summer fun. However, Big surf needs new attractions and better upkeep on its current ones. When I went, two slides were shut down and The whole place felt in disrepair.I didn't have a bad time, but I had to wonder if all the paint chips in the water had lead in them.

Collie

Very fun! Went there as a group. Some areas were closed off for the time we were there. One of the lifeguards seemed to not notice while I was choking for some reason though. Also, maybe a few more rides? After like 20 minutes you have ridden most rides. Also, most lockers seemed damaged or useless altogether. Two friends sharing a locker had to change lockers multiple times. Other than that and some other minor stuff, food was ok, salt on the pretzel was overdone and salt didn't taste good. Good prices on food. I walked in with 25 dollars, got a drink, pretzel, and kettle corn with a little bit left for dip n dots.

Mark Montoya

Great price for a water park. Lots to do for kids of all ages. ( Adults too) Both my 3 and 7 year olds loved this spot. Have to bring them back again

Jason Tenorio

Still the best water park around. It's more open, where you don't feel crowded. Had a great time.

JEREMY RIDGE

Outstanding place to take kids 7 years and below. Plenty of space, usually not crowded. But summer pass and two admissions will have equaled the cost of the summer pass. Traditional admission is $35 and Military is $20z Lockers about $8-12. The only issue is there’s no lazy river and the wave pool only creates one wave per ten minutes. Would like to see more continuous waves.

Polo Bear

Really cool water slides!

Shanika Douglas

Dean Ruzicka

This is a decent place. The staff is good and the place is fun enough. Wave pool is excellent but no lazy river and it's pretty old. Overall not a bad place

Shamaine Brown

this is a cool place to take your family if you just trying to cool off but they do not have too many water slides

Real McCoy

Decent water park, really bad mosquitos.

Steve Campbell

Big fun always like it there its smaller than some other water parks .

Don't Read My Profile Picture

Fun, but wave pool doesn't make waves very often

Our first visit to big surf and we loved it. I enjoyed the different areas where it was catering to a certain age catagory. The plash pad was cute. The rainbow slides were my 4 year olds favorite. All the other slides my 9 year old enjoyed. The pizza was good as well.

Andrew Strizic

Great prices lots of fun but has it ever been updated? It’s like no money gets put back into the park.

Abdul Bailey

If you turn back the hands of time Big Surf was probably a great destination. Unfortunately today it is seriously showing its age. The wave pool and water slides are still fun, however have they ever heard of paint and maintenance. My message to the owner is don't be afraid to renovate and raise prices to cater to a higher income clientele.

Terry Snow

I went to Big Surf as a kid and have lots of great memories with friends. I take my sons there now every year and they have a great time. Park is in need of renovation, its showing its age.

Steven Tran

Awesome place to cool off from the summer heat

Jaime Martochio

Very kid friendly and always a good time! Reasonably priced too. All around good time!

Jozyan Avila

It's was awesome. Someone stole my little brother sandals by the wave pool, besides that it is a attraction to visit again !!

branden stone

19$ on Groupon! It's definitely the cheapest I could find in the valley but the park is old. Slides are not super exciting but the kids are having a good time. The lockers are 16$!!!

steve taylor

Yes, it's old and worn, but all of the slides are still fun, and the wave pool is great for body-surfing, boogie-boarding (2x a day), and surfing. Besides, it's cheap compared to the north valley alternative (Hurricane Harbor)

A D

This park is smaller compared to Wet N' Wild (Hurricane Harbor) in Phoenix. There's not many slides and a lot of the slides are similar. I climbed up one of their stair structures from which there were about 4 different slides. 3 of them were essentially the same, just different colors and the 4th one was one of the super steep ones that goes straight down (I didn't go on that one). The wave pool was ok, and I think the waves come about every 15 (?) minutes, but I noticed some brown specks floating about when I came back at dusk to cool off. That was not a welcome sight.... Specks aside, the water park was a satisfactory experience and nice way to cool off on a summer day.

Kevin Sekakuku

Restrooms were so smelly it was hard to change! Very unsanitary! I wonder wats in da water! Restrooms need around the clock maintenance! Prices are ridiculously high n so is the good stand! So eat b4 u go! Save $!

Tim Schmidt

Was great kid's had a great time.VERY HOT.

Katherine Braham

I honestly love this place. I received a season pass as a gift and I've going at least once a week with my friends. A wonderful place to go if you want to relax at the wave pool. I have taken advantage of both the raft and boogie board rentals. Their slides are thrilling. Though not as numerous as other water parks they are well maintained.

Ashley Lane-Clark

Had a great day. Food prices were good, not outrageous, think movie theater, not Disney. Loved the slides, a good mix. Lots of areas for all ages. A wade ares with slides for the little ones, another kids pool, slides for beginners to the adventurous. The wave pool was great, my son says it's better and bigger than Wet n Wild. We will definitely go back.

Wagner Enrrique Ponce Alfonso

Marissa Meach

Great place to spend 6 hours full of fun with the niece. Parking is free(woot woot!), Food prices weren't terrible and neither was the prices for the rafts. The lockers were a bit pricey but worth it for the peace of mind. The staff is generally friendly- every place has their grumpy heads but for the most part everyone was friendly and helpful. Do yourself a huge favor and buy a waterproof phone carrier before you go as they do not sell them there but it has become a necessity for me so I can keep my cash card and phone on me at all time.

Christy Lamb

Lots of fun, would go again if they do Groupon again. Would be cool to see an adults only pool with swim up bar. Just an idea ;)

Scott Pickering

It's always been a great time when we bring the kids. The lifeguards are very attentive and helpful. When we went, the slides had short lines and there were always tubes available for the slides that needed it.

Amanda S.

We definitely will not be returning to this waterpark... Their website looks great and really boasts about all that they have, however it is not the case when you get there. For a family of 3 we spent over $100 just to get in the door and rent a locker to store our towels and car keys. It is very small, dirty and the lifeguards are so rude! My special needs son was whistled at and yelled at so much by the lifeguards that it was not enjoyable for him, his father or myself. I even yelled right back at one of the lifeguards letting them know he is special needs, which is something that I try not use as a crutch for him, but they wouldn’t leave him alone even though his father and I were right there with him. All he was doing was walking fast up the path (not even next to any water) to the rainbow slides and and jumped up a couple times out of excitement. Upon entering the facility, we were given the wrong directions for attractions, when my son was set to go down the rainbow slides the lifeguard told us that since our son was special needs that we would have to get a clear wrist band, so were told to go to the first aid station to do so. We went to the first aid station and were told to go to the entrance because they knew nothing of the sort. We then went to the entrance and were told to go to their management office. We finally went to the management office and they didn’t seem to know that there was a special clear wrist band for special needs. They ended up giving him another regular wrist band with the managers name written in permanent marker on to. This wrist band didn’t seem to even effect how my son was treated... in the 2 foot deep kiddie pool area my son was whistled at and yelled at for putting his hands on the side of the pool. We maybe spent an hour of the 2 hours that we were there in the water. We were so over the poor customer service, rude lifeguards, filthy grounds and facilities that we just left. My recommendation would be to go to any other waterpark besides this one!

Myrna Ramirez-Villalobos

It's fun but needs tons of care and cleanliness.

Dawn Swinehart

Was super fun! Lots of slides and the wave pool was awesome thanks to Jenn and her hubby!

random family

Always have a great time here i wish they would have a low budget day though for low income families

tajma washington

This place needs to be remodeled looks very out dated. Not worth the price I paid there is no lazy river. Honestly it looks like a city pool area it not many attractions it's really boring a few water slides but just don't waste your money here. If u want a good time go to Golfland sun splash

James Conaway

Great fun. Took surfing lessons. The park staff and instructors are very helpful and friendly. I would recommend this park.

Bridgette Donato

Had lots of fun with family and friends! Lots to do for the little ones and the big kids too.

Jameson Rivers

What a fun place. Check out the wide selection of water slides. The wave pool is also fun for the family. Go check out the many features to choose from.

Jordan Anderson

This place is great for a simply day with some water. Watch your kids do not expect the life guards to do it please WATCH YOUR KIDS !!! but DONT lose raft on busy days they don't replace them and people will TAKE THEM! other then that a fun time

Just Foryou

The young ladies up front were sooo nice, I am a Dad with no clue and lots of kids but the kindest they showed, you better do something nice for them, they truly deserve it and made a hectic day a blessing, thank you Big Surf, your staff is amazing. We are loyal customers for life and will be buying the passes.

Megan Griem

Lots of people but they do a good job with keeping up.. It's a fun place

Karim Buelna

Best place ever for water fun in tempe....

Diane Tallent

People if all ages, shapes, sizes ,colors and ethnicities, having fun in the sun and water. What a great place.
