Lots of history here. Beautiful trails, great place for flying kites, riding bicycles (they don't allow it on the trails, but still fun to ride on horseshoe bends roads), picnics, etc! Just beautiful and full of historical facts. They also have an information center open M-F until 4 or 5(:

I had a quite enjoyable experience here. My only issue is the remodel of the visitor’s center was not complete and therefore was not was not that large. It was quite informative and gave a tremendous background of the battle. This was a pivotal moment in the United States' history, it ended the Creek War and propelled Andrew Jackson to the White House. This is not a large park still take your time and really experience the park, I recommend walking the nature trail. If you are a bit pressed for time then do the drive trail, but get out at each stop or you only get really half the experience.

Very nice park. The guide was very helpful. The bathrooms were clean and the inside. The movie is only 20 minutes long and the artefacts have so much information posted beside them. My little family enjoyed this trip and today was the actual anniversary of Horse Shoe Bend. This is a must see park.

Wonderful place to enjoy a day trip. Lots of history and beautiful scenery. We decided to walk the length of the park since the weather was perfect but it is also an easy drive around the park if you have mobility issues. They also have a guided audio tour which would also be helpful if you have difficulty walking the length of the park. It gives information at each stop and is easy to use by just calling in from your phone. This was especially helpful for my parents who wanted to take a car ride down here after we went but have difficulty walking long distances. Included the picture of the armadillo since we lost count on how many we saw throughout the park. Ha Would recommend!

They dont clean the fire pits unless you ask. The grass is 2 foot high behind my camper which is where the lake is so I cannot access the water unless I want to be eaten alive by bugs. When they do mow they don't blow off your site afterwards so you end up having grass all over your rugs and you picnic area. I'm very disappointed.

An excellent park where you can learn about a key but not well known battle during the war of 1812.

Mark Hoshor

Wonderful place of great historical impotence. We enjoyed it very much. There is a nice picnic area. However, though there are signs that suggest no picnicking, there were several families picnic and playing games in non-picnic areas. I spoke with the employees at the visitor’s center and they indicated it was quite all right to picnic wherever you like. I personally think it disrespectful of a national historic site. Again, I spoke with the man and woman at the visitor center and it is allowed. So bring family, friends, toys and such and make a party of it. Great place to have a family gathering and party.

Wonderful park, with a great staff. Reminds us of the horrible history of some times in our past, where Native Americans were slaughtered and betrayed by some people's "heroes."

Thier annual historical reenactment is always well planned out. The guides were friendly and out going.

This is a little gem hidden away in central Alabama. History buffs know this was the ultimate battle in the Creek Wars, but most folks today probably don’t know the significance of this park 10 minutes off Hwy 280. Early battlefields generally don’t have the WOW factor Civil War ones do. Few cannons and fewer monuments, etc. Still, this is well maintained, and the audio tour on your phone is well done. The little welcome center has a short video and a few souvenirs, but not much more than that. The park itself is a great place for a walk and a picnic.

Beautiful place to hike and learn about US history. For decades I had passed Horseshoe Bend Road on my way to Lake Martin. Yesterday I decided to visit with hiking boots on. I stopped at the visitor’s center where the rangers were friendly and informative. They supplied me with a brochure and a map. There was a video (about 20 minutes) explaining the events that took place-historically accurate and interesting. It is definitely worth watching before taking in the rest of the park. Many people then take a driving tour-a loop with several stops that you could do in 30 minutes if in a hurry or linger and explore. Instead I parked at the first stop and hiked the 2.5 mile trail that led me to most of the historic markers and alongside the beautiful Tallapoosa river and across peaceful meadows. I went on a weekday and only saw one other person on the trail. The trail is wide and well-maintained with crushed gravel and benches along the way. After my hike I took the driving tour which had a couple of stops I had not seen on my hike. So glad I made the trip!

The video was very interesting and informative. The whole family enjoyed it. The park guide inside was very nice and was very good with the kids. He had an answer for all their questions. Next time we are going to hike the trail. I can't wait to go back.

While I didn't visit the park itself, which is an awesome place for history buffs, my oldest son and I floated the Tallapoosa river in a canoe and did some bass fishing - great day!!

...Where Andy Jackson destroyed the Creek Indian Nation. He wanted to be President, just like Custer following him. But, losing the Republican election he started the "democratic Party".

A nice park that is underwhelming compared to many other historic battlefields I have visited.Film at visitor center wasn't working.I prefer to walk battlefield rather then drive, but the trail here was lacking in signage.so For exercise take the trail.Otherwise just drive the car loop which would take about an hour. Also after signs all over saying to avoid ticks it would help to maintain the trail so you are not walking thru tall grass.

Kate Grantham

Terrie Coleman

Love going there to hike

Hao Yan

Small national park with a nice visit center. A loop road to drive to explore the battlefield. We finish in one hour. Could take more time if we walk more trails.
