This is an outstanding company for painting and decorating. In the spring they removed wallpaper from three rooms and painted. The quality of the work was stunning. The painter was professional, courteous, and responsive. A few weeks ago they painted the outside of our house. Again the quality was outstanding. The painters were responsive to our concerns and helped us choose the best colors to match our needs. They cleaned up after the job so that it is impossible to see any sign of the work beyond the paint itself. The same painter (Jake) did both the inside and outside of our house. I recommend him to anyone in need of painting. Genesis painted our house ten years ago (it held up that long!). I expect we will chose them again when the time comes. A great company.

I have used Genesis Painting for several painting projects, large and small. My experiences have always been positive. Great care is taken to protect carpeting and any remaining furniture in the room as well as taping all woodwork . Electrical plates were removed and replaced at the end of the job as well as any picture nails. If any nail holes were not going to be reused they were filled in as well as any flaws in the walls. I have used the same painter (Chris Enders) each time and have found him to be professional and knowledgeable regarding the process. I would not hesitate to recommend Chris and Genesis and have done so on occasion. If you choose Genesis you have definitely picked the best in Madison.

The project took longer to complete than expected, but the painters showed up early every day and were happy to answer my questions and walk me through the process. Last week I had the exterior of my old house re-painted. Everything Genesis did for me was very professional and prompt. The free color consultation was quite helpful. The office staff were able to communicate effectively via emails. I was especially impressed with the painters who worked on my house. They were always courteous and got the job done efficiently. When they borrowed my garden hose, they made sure to ask politely beforehand (you'd think this is common sense, but I've definitely had construction people who borrowed tools from my house without asking and then never even cleaned them up). What impressed me even more was that they then wrapped up the extra one they didn't use so nicely, better than I ever did myself! At the end of each work day, they cleaned up so well I could hardly tell they had even been there, except for the nice steady progress they made on the paint job. The painters were very good about communicating their progress to me each day while remaining very respectful of my time and space. I'm generally pretty OCD and critical of workers' ability to be tidy and to pay attention to details, and I am giving these guys a 5 star. Overall, this has been a great experience so far. I hope the paint job will hold up for a long time cuz I sure am loving the new color right now!

We had a great experience with Genesis Painting back in September '18. The bid came back to us very reasonably priced. First Joey came and did a great job power-washing the exterior. Then our painter Steve showed up. Steve was thorough and explained everything that he would be doing. Our house has aluminum siding, and when the job was completed it looked fantastic. We are very happy with the work. We would definitely call Genesis painting again and will recommend them to others.

Had some drywall cracks in the vaulted ceiling repaired, screw/nail holes fixed, and the area repainted. The painters did a great job fixing the drywall, texturing the area, and painting the finished wall. Everything looked great with minimal dust and cleanup. The color consultation was a great help to coordinate with existing colors but still refresh/update the overall color palette. Well work the money.

I received a timely call following my online request. The in-house estimate was scheduled a few days from the call. I received a complimentary professional color consult and have received nothing but raves from my friends on her choices, which involved coordinating five colors on the first floor of my home. The painters are professional and always call to schedule, arrive promptly and paint immaculately! I have yet to find one spatter from their painting. Every piece of my decor was treated with respect and covered with care. Their work-ethic is above reproach and the projects were completed in remarkable time. Recently, I completed several small and large projects using Genesis Painting. As a Condominium Manager I am tasked with finding and vetting contractor candidates for all of the Associations we manage. In each of my last 4 paint bidding projects, Genesis came out on top of all candidates and was selected by the Board of Directors as their choice to work at the property. From initial inspection, to bid to follow up and eventually on site work, Genesis exceeded my expectations. Communication from the office, supervisors and painting staff was professional and helpful. The finished product on projects ranging in cost from a few thousand dollars to over forty thousand was excellent. Their attention to detail, communications, ability to identify areas of need, easy to follow bids and most importantly, the finished product , was a 10 out of 10 in my book.

Trying to be cost conscious, I requested a number of quotes. Genesis had pricing comparable to the other contractors. it was definitely worth a couple hundred extra dollars to get the job done by a known local business. Our home is 100 years old and it needed an exterior paint job. As a homeowner you want to have every paint job count in a good way and Genesis Painting delivered. We were recommended Genesis by a contractor that did recent work on our home - last fall the estimator came by, was very thorough in explaining what we should expect in terms of process and product, and spent time listening to our concerns. We were told we would be one of the first in line for this spring's work flow. In late April we were called to get the process going. All painters were professional, courteous, and the lead painters were meticulous in the quality of the job. The crew had worked together as a team for multiple years and their experience together showed. The time consuming and tedious process of prepping the job was the most thorough we've experienced in the 30 years we've owned our home. The lead abatement protocols were in place but did not dominate. The only hard part was, that although the experience was very good, the persistent rain made the project last a little longer than originally projected. Also liked that they use a local paint company for the paint on our job. Highly recommend.

Overall, Genesis did a high quality pain job on the exterior of my home. Through challenging weather and temperatures, they stuck with they refused to cut corners and took the time to ensure the project was done right. While there was some damage done to a lighting fixture and a length of gutter during the process, they did what they could to make these issues right after the paint job was complete. Genesis is a sound company, all around. I appreciate the work and attention to detail put into this process.

We did have a scheduling glitch but it was resolved. The painter and dry-waller (Two different people) took their time, explained what they were doing, and were quite cordial. One of the most professional companies I've ever encountered, both with the quality of work and the communications provided. I am ***impressed*** with Dan P. 's work on my father's kitchen cabinets and with David R.'s work on the exterior of my father's home. Both gentlemen communicated updates and answered questions for me on a regular basis, which I appreciate on many levels because I live five hours from my father's house. Jeff L. and Bob S. are excellent communicators as well. A particular shout-out goes to ***David R.***, who went way above and beyond the call of duty, knowing I lived far from the house. He informed me on several different occasions about bat and other wildlife infestation, issues with certain garbage bags and a fallen tree on the deck. David then ensured matching paint cans were available in a designated location for the animal control people to use (for covering up woodpecker hole plugs) and he even voluntarily cut up and moved the fallen tree off the deck (which was blocking areas needing to be stained). David made my life so much simpler, and I remain grateful to this day! A remarkable company with remarkable people. Thank you, Genesis Painting!

From the initial consultation with Jeff to the color consultation with Laurie through the last day of painting, we had an exceptional experience with Genesis and I have extremely high standards. Painting an entire house at once had me feeling overwhelmed when it came to color selection. We had a very clear idea of what we wanted our home to look and feel like, but...undertones will get you every time. Laurie arrived and she was warm, easy to communicate with and very skilled. She took into account our lighting, cabinets/counter tops, furniture and future design ideas. After ~25-30 min, she presented us with her initial color selections and had a backup stack of colors. We swapped a two colors out and in approximately an hour we had all paint selections done. It would've taken me weeks to do this on my own and we'll absolutely use her again, as she has her own consultation service. For painting, we were assigned a team with Jason as the Project Manager, Pat as the main dry wall repair/prep person and Jose (Joey) as an additional team member (dry wall and paint). This team was EXCELLENT. They were friendly, professional, trustworthy in our home while we were at work and communicated consistently throughout the 8 day project. They notified us of anything they found while prepping the walls, asked questions as they worked, and also reviewed next steps with us regularly. They did a brilliant job of working around the chaos of just having moved in (e.g. boxes/stuff everywhere) and were generous in helping us remove fixtures/move items along the way. We had one bathroom color that was not ideal for us and in less than 24 hrs Laurie had sent us alternative options, we selected a new color and the walls were painted (and perfect). This was our first experience with Hallman Lindsay paint and the quality and coverage was superior to anything we'd used before from big box stores with little to no smell. The colors are beautiful and the attention to detail with painting is excellent - all of the lines are crisp and clean. At our final walk through Jason took us through paint care and also helped advise us with paint types/tools to use for our fireplace/trim which we are doing ourselves. The project price was higher than other contractors we were recommended, but we were able to take advantage of winter rates and selected Genesis due to their immediate availability in between seasons. After our experience, we will absolutely be repeat customers.

The Genesis administrative team responded with neighbor friendliness to our painting inquiry, met with us on our schedule, answered our questions and explained what we could expect from their interactions with us. Business-like with continuing comfortable friendly interactions. They invited questions and helped us thru decisions. We considered four bids for our painting project and selected Genesis because of our quality interactions with them aware that they were not the least expensive quote. The comfort of our decision was soundly upheld by the painters from Genesis who executed the painting project. The painters treated the project as if they were painting their own home, conscientiously and with detailed care. They involved us daily walking us thru the the painted areas to inspect what was done or in our opinion what needed to be re-touched. They previewed each new color on a wall before just painting away. This allowed us to make one color change in a lower level bathroom that we are still grateful for. Just a poor color decision on our part. Daily clean-up was great. The painters had obvious pride in their workmanship and we appreciated their sensitivities to accomplishing a project with quality work. Genesis administrative follow-up with us continued to be friendly and comfortable. We will have them back for future projects.

We just had new furniture and carpet installed and I was nervous about getting paint on them, but everything was perfect and none of our new items were impacted. Genesis Painting provided the most affordable quote to pain the exterior of our home. The first stage was a pressure wash of the entire house by a very diligent and professional named Jose. Then, about a week later, a father-son painter duo (Mark & Mark) started work on our home. First, they repaired damaged siding including the woodpecker holes. They had to work around some rainy days and also some hard to access parts of our home but did an outstanding job on our home. It now looks like new! They always kept us updated on their progress and were among the most friendly and professional painters we have ever worked with. They even painted and hung a bat house and some reflectors to discourage the woodpeckers. I highly recommend Genesis Painting and applaud the quality of employees they sent to revitalize the exterior of our 39-year-old home.

Genesis is one of the most distrustful companies I have ever done business with. They billed me for 16 hours (2 painters x 8 hours) however when I checked the timestamps on my security system they barely worked 6 hours each! They lied to me and charged me for time they didn't work! And when I outlined to them what happened I didn't hear from them for one month. No apology they just adjusted the hours and charged me for their lies. What a terrible company. Also be careful with their story about sending in one painter to paint all day for 8 hours so they get a day of work. For me they sent in 2 painters thus doubling the expenses quickly. The story sounds great but I'm almost certain it's how they trap home owners into paying more. Very distrustful company. Stay away.

First time was some siding on our old house. Second time was to do the soffits, facia and some roof repair on our new house. We had a lot of projects being done in our home, and so we relied on our contractor for some of the painting jobs. Huge mistake, we soon learned. Thankfully, we had them stop as they were doing a terrible job and we eventually had to have some of their work redone. Genesis finished the painting in several rooms of our house, including doors and kitchen cabinets. Our house is from 1909, so there was a fair amount of patching and plaster work. They sent Dan, the expert on old homes. He and his assistant were awesome. I used to think painting yourself was a great way to save money, but after seeing the difference when its done by professionals, I'll never make that mistake again. Everything looks gorgeous! Dan is super nice, offered helpful tips and opinions, and was extremely conscientious. We were especially grateful after our fiasco with S&R remodeling. We plan to have Genesis come back and do more work for us soon, and I wouldn't hire anyone else.

After a wonderful experience with Genesis in early 2017, I recently asked Genesis to quote our upstairs bedrooms. They responded quickly with the quote and the following week Laurie came in to provide a color consult. Immediately following the painting was scheduled. They completed 4 bedrooms in 2 days while I was at work. They were very professional and the paint job was excellent. My experience with Genesis was wonderful! Troy responded quickly to my request for a quote, he did a walk through and explained the process, how long he anticipated the job would take, and the guarantee Genesis has on their quotes. He also mentioned that Genesis has interior design services, which I took advantage of. I met with Laurie the designer to choose colors; she listened to what I was trying to achieve with the color scheme and helped choose the perfect colors for my home. On a side note, I hired her for an exterior design job not related to this job because I was so impressed with her design skills. Chris contacted me for scheduling and was able to fit me in rather quickly. He did an excellent job painting, and nicely cleaned up at the end of each day. He was always on time! He was kind to my two dogs and even wrote a nice note about them on his last day at the house. I highly recommend Genesis. Their quotes are reasonable, staff are pleasant and professional, and their workmanship is excellent!

We hired Genesis Painting to repaint several rooms in our home but also to refinish our kitchen cabinets. The painting turned out wonderful as expected but what we were most impressed with is how beautiful our kitchen cabinets looked after being restained. We had no idea Genesis offered this service and we are sure glad we found they do!!! The cabinets were very worn and old and thus we thought our only option was replacing them which would have cost over $30,000 which we just couldn't see spending. Dan from Genesis taught us how to prep the cabinets (degreasing and sanding) to help us save even more money - most contractors would not have offered this. Once the cabinets were prepped Dan promptly returned to start the stain process. Dan is a remarkable stain artist - our cabinets are now beautiful again and look brand new. We spent less than $1000 getting our cabinets back to looking brand new. It feels so good to be proud of the way our kitchen looks while knowing we saved tons of money in the process!!!

Although color consultation didn't come with the package David from Genesis suggested going darker in one of the rooms, which I never would have thought of doing, and I loved it. The services I received from Genesis Painting were superb from the very beginning. Kayla was able to assist me with scheduling so an estimator could come assess my needs. Jeff No. 1 was thorough and was able to provide me an estimate at the end of our meeting. He provided me with a packet of information regarding Genesis Painting and basically told me not to take his word for it but to do my own research. He even told me the things to look for and where I could turn for financing. The financing was very easy, and the communication from the finance company to Genesis was quick and efficient. Bob then contacted me about getting started TOMORROW! It just so happened that since God was going to make it rain the next day, the jobs they had scheduled could not be done. Therefore, they were able to get started with my home if I wanted them to. It didn't matter that I would not be home for the duration of their painting and repairs. They were able to do what they needed in record time because my place was completely empty. Each evening when they were finished, the only evidence they had been there was the paint/repairs on the walls and their equipment neatly tucked away in a corner. Jeff No. 2, the overseer of the painters, was an amazing gentleman as well. I thought I wanted an accent wall that was barely a shade different from the other walls; and although he was willing to give me what I wanted, he let me know that I probably would not see the accent unless the sun was shining directly on both walls. His advice made my room turn out amazingly because it harmonized with the carpet that ended up being installed the next week. I would recommend Genesis Painting in a heartbeat.

House built in 1926, lead paint present. Genesis hand washed entire exterior (couldn’t power wash due to lead paint), scraped away loose paint (there was a lot), caulked all spaces, primed, and painted the house exterior. House is a 2 story which sits up off the street, with a garage underneath, so house is ~3 stories in the front. Front porch has original, individual-paned windows - Genesis re-glazed them all which took a lot of time and effort, but made them look like wonderful. Genesis did an excellent job, were extremely professional and paid lots of attention to detail. Never felt they were in a rush to leave or that they were cutting corners. I was hoping for a lower overall cost, but in the end I am very happy with the outcome and feel like what I got was worth every penny. Would definitely refer them to a friend (and have)!

Genesis Painting was wonderful to work with! We had them paint the exterior of our house. Jeff was very communicative about what was included in the project (cleaning, painting, touching up) and when they’d be starting. Laurie came in to give a color analysis and provide tips about painting styles. Once the project was scheduled, Steve and Vic showed up on time every day until the project was finished (three days). Steve was particularly knowledgeable about paint (what stuck well to wood vs. metal), had good attention to detail, and returned promptly when there was a small touch-up issue to be addressed. I would definitely recommend them for painting jobs.

Genesis recently re-stained our cedar-sided two story house. The weather caused a couple of scheduling issues, but Steve, our painter, kept us updated. He worked efficiently, was very neat and thorough, cleaned up at the end of each day, and did a first rate job. The only criticism I have is that Genesis offers a 0% payment plan via their website, but that has to be established before the job is begun which wasn't clear to us, so we missed that opportunity (payment is due at job completion). Overall, a great job at a fair price.

It's a joy to write a good review, and it saddens me to write a poor review. Unfortunately, I feel that potential clients should be aware of the variety of ways that Genesis treats its customers. Here's my experience: My housing association hired Genesis to paint our exterior of our building, and a written contract was drafted. The work started late in the season, and through no fault of Genesis, the work came to a halt once the cold weather settled in. The next season I called Genesis to finish the work, and was initially met with a cold response. Upon reviewing the contract, the response warmed, and I was told to contact the foreman when we were ready to get the work finished. After a long Summer of dusty road construction, in August I called the foreman to schedule getting the exterior work finished. After three unanswered phone calls, I began calling the main office. After leaving three messages with their answering service, I've still not received a call back. In addition, I've sent an e-mail. No response to any of these. I am disappointed that Genesis has not honored our contract, and even more disappointed that they cannot even bother to return phone calls and e-mails. The work they did do was of good quality - I just wish they would have honored the contract and finished the job! Since I initially wrote this review, Genesis did come back and complete the job. As ever, their work quality is excellent. Thanks to Genesis for completing the job!

Sadly, we had the WORST experience with Genesis Painting. I kid you not, it was a complete nightmare. We never got a final walk through, the workers half assed most of the work-original paint still showing, missed caulking 5 windows, etc etc. management was pressuring us to pay before our walk through, and was extremely defensive when we complained about the poor quality of work. It wasn't until a month of back and forth emails that the manager FINALLY came to look at the work and said, your right, this is unacceptable". I also asked for a refund and was told no. I called and asked to speak to the owner and was denied every time. I cringe every time I see a Genesis add.

After receiving two prior estimates for interior paint work I decided to contact Genesis. I was impressed by the no pressure approach during the estimate appointment. I chose Genesis because their estimate was the cheapest that I had received. The experience was nothing but positive.Genesis was the only company that offered a free color consultation that my wife and I found extremely helpful. My wife and I have used Genesis several times, in two different homes, most recently in July 2018. At this point, we never bother getting quotes from other painters - our one and only call is always to Genesis. The quality of the work is impeccable, the price is always fair and the staff are professional. This most current time we used Genesis, they painted an entire condo, top to bottom... walls, ceilings, molding, doors, some exterior, everything. Genesis provided a color consultant who met with us to help us choose colors throughout, which was fantastic. The painting team protected the surfaces that were not to be painted, repaired drywall areas as needed (nail holes, etc.), and cleaned up when they were done. Victor was the supervisor of the team, and he stayed in touch regularly with progress, and met with us at the end of the job to be sure everything was perfect. I would highly recommend Genesis for any residential paint job you need done.

My husband and I recently bought a condo and knew we wanted some work done before moving in, so we called Genesis Painting to come out to give us an estimate. When Jeff came to do the estimate, he was very professional and did a thorough inspection of our condo. We knew there were going to be repairs along with painting, but he was able to point out the things we missed. Both my husband and I didn't have much experience with this sort of thing and we could tell he was being open and honest with us, not trying to find problems where there are none. After receiving the estimate, I met with Laurie the color consultant. I honestly didn't know what to expect, but it turned out to be a good idea. I had an idea of what I wanted and she tweaked it so the colors weren't too bright or too washed out. The painters did an excellent job as well. It was a two man crew for about 1000 square foot condo and they were able to do the repairs, paint the walls and ceiling in four days. Afterwards he showed us around to make sure we were completely satisfied. Finally, the price was higher than what we had in our minds before starting this project. What made us choose Genesis Painting was the professionalism and care that they originally showed. The quality of the work that was done was well worth the price, I have no regrets.

This year we were in a hurry to get some overdue painting done before listing our house for sale. We had used Genesis in the past to paint most of our rooms and thought they did excellent work. The edges were always crisp, they worked professionally and always cleaned up after finishing. For our latest job, they worked while we were away on vacation. When we came home we reviewed the work and were very satisfied, but we found a few more areas needing attention. They sent the painter back to our house in a timely manner. He was incredible. He worked beyond our expectations and not only hit a few areas needing some extra attention, he made sure the job was done right in a few trouble spots by doing entire walls rather than trying to simply take the easy way out and patch paint spots. It is this kind of effort to please customers that brings us back repeatedly. We hired Genesis to paint the first floor of our home. Built in 1928, our home's walls are plaster and had many cracks and areas of peeling paint, not to mention several details like window frames, trim and picture railing. Genesis did a fantastic job with the painting, and our house looked like a different home when we returned after the work was finished. We were gone while the crew was painting, so I can't speak to how they behave while doing the job, but they left our house better than they found it as far as I can tell. We also really appreciated that free color consultation, and love the colors Laura helped my wife pick out. The reason I am docking Genesis 2 stars is because of the price-they were far and away the most expensive choice by several thousands of dollars from the 4 quotes we received. We ended up going with them because we were afraid that the other painters wouldn't do as good a job, but now that we have had another excellent but not nearly as expensive painter in the house (Megna), I feel kind of silly for paying as much we did to Genesis. It was also difficult to get a hold of the guy who did the initial estimate (Jeff) once we had signed the contract, and it kind of made me feel that once they had our signatures on that contract, our satisfaction with understanding the process and being involved was a low priority. Overall, excellent workmanship, but extraordinarily expensive, and mediocre customer service.

We've used Genesis for interior and exterior projects. I loved the free color consultation for our upstairs hallway, bedrooms and bath. The jobs were done quickly and neatly with wonderful, professional results. We had Genesis repaint and stain our deck as well as do the trim for areas around the house. Genesis Painting recently painted our entire house inside, ceilings and walls, while we were on vacation. Came home after a week to an entirely different house, it was absolutely perfect! All of the lines between colors from walls to ceilings were great and any existing damages to the walls were repaired and you can not tell they ever existed. Everything they promised they delivered on from quality, timing, and price.

Genesis painting boasts of placing everything in writing, (proposals not estimates), giving fixed pricing, guarantees details down to the penny on top of upfront pricing per the radio ads. This is NOT what we experienced. Our history with them goes way back to 2015. We got one Proposal/Contract and then a bill (emailed) for almost twice the amount. We never verified this amount! The General Manager (who by the way they finally fired) told us he would come back to update the proposal/contract before the work began, which would be after we did some prep work. He NEVER came back! He never told us how much any add-on's would be. He was a complete Jerk! Genesis under bid our job, realized it and then stuck us with a higher than anticipated bill. I then asked to speak to the owner and no one would let me voice my concerns. I would HIGHLY recommend that anyone who goes with this company: 1) Stay firm on the Proposal 2) Make sure they UPDATE the Proposal BEFORE ANY WORK BEGINS, 3) Make sure they give you a FINAL WALK THROUGH (we never got one) 4) Pay ONLY when the job is complete and satisfactory! 5) Don't let them bully you into paying a higher amount. I highly suggest they update the "Genesis Promise" on the website and re-word the radio ads. I asked to speak to the owner and he could not see my point of view unfortunately. He just does not realize that the "Genesis Promise" on his website is not in line with our experience. His GM at the time should have UPDATED the proposal BEFORE they workers started. And to top it off, my husband could hear the workers making fun of him and swearing (just like the other bad review out there) as well. I am all about fairness. Genesis was not fair and did NOT GIVE US UPFRONT PRICING LIKE THEY TALK ABOUT. I just do not see how the owner does not realize-these are his words, not mine. I believe Genesis owes us money and we will never do business with them again. 3 Years after the work was done in 2018 we had chipping paint and I told Genesis via Email. They came out to fix it which was surely nice of them! Finally, having the owner on the phone I could share the experience we had about his GM. Especially about threats we received to pay our bill from the GM. Well, he clearly doesn't believe I am telling the whole story by his response. So again, we are getting no where. With one final hope to be done with the ISSUES we have had with Genesis for the past 3 years, I hoped for a resolution. Instead the owner was condescending and would not agree to talk about it, nor see my point of view about our bill. Especially since he is so busy. So we are DONE with this company and will never do business with them again. I write this Review to be a warning to anyone who does business with them, let alone any contractor out there. We have been burned many times in the past. I could write a novel about our experience but I will spare you the details.
