I called them, set up an appointment for an appraisal and the friendly gal on the phone set it up for that Saturday (a few days after the day I called). After I did not get a call back that day, I figured it wasn't a problem, maybe they got busy. I waited several days later, still no call. So I call back to speak with a different girl on the phone. She tells me she doesn't have a direct line to the person who did the appraisal but that she will notify him that I need to speak with him. She took my number, email and other details down. When I didn't receive a call within the next 2 days, I called back again. A 3rd female got on the phone and did the same thing the 2nd woman said she'd do - give my info to the guy who went to appraise the building. It's now been 3 weeks and I've never been contacted again. I've learned a few things in all this. 1- these guys don't want my business. 2- their phone people are outsourced to who knows where and 3- I'll never do business with them again. EDIT: after leaving a one star review, I received my FIRST communication from this company. I heard a voicemail from the owner who wants me to reconsider my 1 star review. This is my first communication received from them. This is not my "perceived experience", this is what actually happened. I have not received an email from an estimator or anyone else...ever. In all fairness and out of an abundance of caution, I'm going to call the owner back at my convenience and try to sort the misunderstanding ("percieved experience" apparently). I'll update the review after it's sorted.

Stuart who owns Five Star Painting (Ashburn) is truly an awesome person and his crews are world class. They work extremely fast and the attention to detail is second to none. They find nail pops where you never knew you had them. The piece I have always enjoyed is their prices are very fair.

They work fast but skip work order items and require frequent call backs. Window caulking worse now than before they fixed it. Will have to hire someone else to fix their mess. Charged my credit card without authorization - before finished.

Ryan was very responsive to set up a time to quote the job and provided a detailed quote on site. Prices for a spattering of little jobs were very reasonable. He was able to review his crews' schedules right then and set up the job for a week later. Day of, Ryan emailed first thing in the morning to let me know his crew was going to be late due to a lingering job from the day before. I was VERY appreciative of the communication. His team did show up a couple hours later than anticipated, which did throw a wrench in my afternoon plans, but I was just happy to get the work done. Marcos was great - fluent English speaker, clarified any questions he had, and kept me informed through the work. They crew was very clean, conscientious, and the quality of the work was impeccable. The ceiling light work took longer than expected, but mostly because the guys are painters, not electricians, and some trial and error was required to get it all right. Ryan checked in personally with the crew during the day, and I was very impressed with the fact that he spoke fluent Spanish and could communicate with all of the crew, not just the foreman. Historically, I'm used to the person giving the quote disappearing after the quote is delivered, not communicating the project with the crew, being totally out-of-contact during the actual work, then resurfacing when it's time to collect payment. This experience was totally different and refreshingly so. I would highly recommend Five Star.

I reached and and was scheduled for an estimate within 48 hours and painting was scheduled for a week later. This was our first time working with Nancy (estimator) and she was amazing. So helpful and knowledgeable which was what we needed for painting the main level of our single family home. The crew was outstanding!!! They were timely, professional and friendly. The transformation that took place is mind blowing. I almost do not recognize my home. Full disclosure I have used them for years on a previously home and received nothing but stellar service. I highly recommend this business to anyone looking for a class act painting business!!!!

Spencer, Gerardo, and the rest of the crew did an excellent job installing chair rail and shadow box wainscoting as well as painting in our soon-to-be-born baby’s nursery. High quality work and professionalism all around - would definitely recommend them to anyone else looking for painting and/or trim work, and we’ll definitely be repeat customers next time we need this kind of work done in our home.

I am not an easy person to "wow". That being said, I have had work done in the past but never with this type of quality and customer service! The crew were the most polite people you can imagine and the GM Ryan was on-site everyday to make sure the work was being done to our satisfction. They worked with us and even took out paint samples and got the paint on our behalf without any large surcharges! I would definately use this company again and recommend that anyone that reads this does the same. A+

I'm actually not sure I could have been happier - from meeting Marc Schwatrz at the Home Expo near Dulles, to having our free color consult, to their workers arriving on time (or usually earlier), to the final results and clean-up. It was as close to PERFECTION as any home project could have possibly been. Every wall in a 4000-foot home painted in four days AND at a great price! The entire painting project was very professionally handled, from the estimate to the final inspection. The painters were pleasant and worked hard and quickly without compromising on quality. All floors, banisters, and furniture were covered in plastic to protect them. All the necessary touch-ups were all done. Job consisted of painting kitchen, family room, 2-story entryway, 2 bathrooms, and hallway. They also did several drywall repairs excellently and fixed the shoe molding in a bathroom. We had two different companies do major paint jobs in the same month and Five Star was less expensive and the work was better. Plus they did the work on short notice to accomodate our schedule. Highly recommend.

Five Star Painting did an outstanding job from start to finish renovating our kitchen, laundry room, and mud room cabinets. The project included sanding, priming, and painting our cabinets with three coats of paint, replacing old hardware with new (which required patching old drill holes), and adding board and batten trim to our island. The project was professionally handled from start to finish with up front scheduling by Nancy to fit our needs, a color consultation from Susan to help us pick the right paint colors, an on-site project lead Adam to get each day’s work started and wrapped-up, a top notch carpenter Gerardo that trimmed out our island to perfection, and a sanding and painting team of three (sorry guys, I did not get your names) that perfectly painted the cabinets. This was a major renovation project that took the team 5-days of 9 am to 6 pm work to complete. They arrived on time, worked hard, went out of their way to put down paper and hang plastic sheathing to minimize the dust in the house, and we’re always courteous to my wife and I. The carpentry work performed by Gerardo was especially good. I was blown away by the quality of the workmanship and how well all the cuts lined up on some very tricky angles on our island. All the drawer and door pulls are in perfect alignment too. I can’t think of anything the team could have done better. A great job done by a great team. I have also used Five Star to paint rooms in my house and fix drywall seam and nail pop issues. I will most definitely use them again. Thank you Five Star...that’s the rating you get from me!

These guys are the best. I had nail pops throughout the house and a large hole in my ceiling from a water leak. They sent one amazing dude out, and this guy seemingly waved a magic wand and made them all disappear. There is no evidence at all that there was ever anything but painted drywall where he worked. The husband and wife owners walked with me through the house after the work was completed to ensure I was pleased with everything. It wasn't a complicated / high-dollar job, and they treated me as if it were. HIGHLY recommended - I will definitely be using them again!!

Stuart Nokes and his wife Tina immediately struck me as people who are focused on customer satisfaction and doing the job right. I highly value this attribute having been in the customer service and contracting business. That being said, Stuart put in extra effort to tweak my quote to perfectly match my needs, and Tina helped a lot with suggesting strategies to accomplish my goals. I trusted them and their crew to work in and around my home while no one else was there. The crew was ahead of schedule, did a very good job preparing the home to protect furniture and flooring, and their promptness and speed were awesome. They did an excellent job of repairing some really bad drywall spots and went above and beyond on the exterior as well. There were a couple of things that were originally overlooked but the paint crew was back lightning quick, same day even, to take care of the minor corrections. The price was great and in fact I did not even bother calling anybody else for an estimate, because the peace of mind that came with using the Nokes' trustworthy, upstanding, family run business was worth every penny. Five Star Painting was very professional. They came out and measured everything then gave me a detailed estimate so I could see how much of it would fit in my budget. They scheduled the work according to my schedule. When Jason and his crew came out they were very nice, polite and moved the furniture off my two story deck, as I could not do it. They replaced some rotten wood, painted the deck and stair railings, the trim around the windows and doors on the deck and painted the deck floor. Everything looks great! They took their time and did an excellent job.

Stuart worked with me to quickly get a crew out to my house and perform the repair before additional damage could occur. This was done on short notice so I really appreciated his efforts.
