CertaPro Painters just completed a job with the exterior painting on my home. Nayla and her crew started the job earlier than promised, and worked dilligently for three days pressure washing and painting the home. They did a fantastic job making my 20yr old home look like new again. I live in a HOA-controlled subdivision, and I defy them to find a flaw on the exterior of my home. They used high quality products, and left me the unused paint for touch-up purposes. The price was very fair, and considerably less than other estimates for the work I needed done. CertaPro's estimate was highly detailed and very professional, explaining each step of the work along the way. I am very happy with their work, and will use CertaPro Painters again. I had a wonderful experience with CertaPro Painters of Fairfax and Prince William. They came into my older home and installed decorative craftsman window trim around all of my windows. The craftsmanship is beautiful and has held up very well over the years. They treated my home with the utmost respect by putting drop cloths everywhere and cleaning up after themselves which was greatly appreciated since I was 8 months pregnant at the time.

CertaPro Painters were superior to work with. Within a few days of my call to their offices, I had someone out to the condo I was about to put on the market to get an estimate. The staff was very helpful, and took notes/pictures of all the areas to be painted and repaired. I received the estimate within 48 hours, and Tom was great in answering all of my questions and scheduling the work within the timeframe I was looking for. The painting was done faster than the time estimate, and looked great. I had a contract within 2 weeks of the work being done!

The crew that came in was amazing and worked hard everyday to completed the project. Honestly at first I was skeptical because of the cost, but once I saw how long it took a crew of 6 guys to do everything that I requested, I realized that I really had no idea of the amount of work and the effort it would take to do it. The final product looks great and is worth every penny. Had our home been painted with this level of attention to detail when we bought it 8 months ago, I would have easily paid more and certainly enough to cover the cost of the work. I would absolutely recommend CertaPro Painters of Fairfax to anyone needing painting. I don't see how you could possibly be disappointed.

DO NOT HAVE CERTAPRO PERFORM ANY CARPENTRY WORK!!! The paint team contractors that worked on my exterior trim project were friendly and seemed to do a decent job of prepping the surfaces and painting a double coat of a good quality paint. However, I have serious concerns about the integrity of the CertaPro company itself for several reasons: 1) In their contracts, they purposely use misleading language to lower their costs and, ultimately, to do a lower quality job painting your home. Where the contract suggests a “repair,” they will use a wood filler only, often in an area that is far too large to be using wood filler and should instead be “replaced” with PVC board. They will take photos only of a small chip where they put the wood filler, then scrape away a significant area of rotten wood to fill it with wood filler, then paint over it to cover their misuse of the wood filler product with no photo evidence. Case in point: I requested that the trim on a back bay window at my home be “repaired.” I assumed this meant “restore to functioning condition.” Instead, the trim was spackled with wood filler, not properly caulked or painted, and is—at only 6 months later—paint cracked and bubbling, soft, rotten all around the “repair”, and worse than before the job. When I had the manager out to look at the issue, he made every excuse he could think of for why the damage is an issue with my home’s structure. Instead of offering to complete the job correctly, I was instead given an estimate to have the work done a second time—another $275. 2) They will take unauthorized short cuts to save THEIR COMPANY MONEY. CertaPro does not adhere to their own contracts if you aren’t standing next to the workers watching what they do. I paid to have a rotten board that is STRUCTURAL SUPPORT on my garage trim “replaced” with wood or PVC. I came out of my home to find that the rotten area (approximately a 6” x 4” area) had been filled with wood filler and was in the process of being painted over. It had already been completed and I was told another trim piece on the second story needed to be replaced, so I agreed to swap the cost of the trim piece for leaving the garage board as completed with the wood filler. Now the filler is cracking and I will have to replace the board myself soon. Had I not caught the worker in the process of this cheap and dangerous fix, I would not have ever known CertaPro did not adhere to their end of the contract. Where they can, they will cut corners. They do not treat your home like it is their own. Beware. 3) Their 2 year warranty isn’t actually a warranty at all. It excludes just about any issue you might have down the road (like any carpentry work that decays, like mine did) and requires that you pay the cost of materials for any work completed under warranty. Any chipping or bubbling of paint on the exterior of a home can be attributed to sun or water damage, and the warranty doesn’t cover damage from natural causes. You can bet they’ll discover that “water pools” where your paint damage is if you try to get coverage under their warranty. I’m still paying off the job they did on my home last October. I’ve done my fair share of painting and carpentry work, so I know I can repair the damage they either created or did not, in fact, “repair” under contract. But with two small children at home, redoing a job I paid several thousand dollars to HAVE DONE RIGHT THE FIRST TIME is not how I want to spend my evenings and weekends. Find someone who works independently and will take pride in the quality of their work. Who will treat your home like their own. CertaPro is clearly just in it for the fast cash and it shows.

Tom and Dan are great and very professional but that’s where it ends. We had a rough experience with the painters. 1. They left our master bedroom with a hole in the wall, unpainted areas and paint on the carpet and trim. 2. In the living room, one painter fell off the ladder and paint wascsplattered including on our area rug and hardwood flooring. 3. Sloppy paint spills outside, on brand new roof, screened patio flooring. 4. Painted over rotten wood and told us it wasn’t rotten. It was. They had to fix. 5. Back stairs on porch only partially painted. We repainted ourselves. We were having to constantly point out problems. Hide your beer and beverages!
