Their installers are very detail oriented when it comes to protective coverings and take the time to install the paint carefully and thoughtfully. Although they can be expensive you truly are getting what you pay for in quality and customer service.

Matt Duffey, General Manager at Veenhuizen, met with me to discuss my painting project. He sent me a proposal when he said he would, and it captured the details we had talked about. The cost was about what I expected for painting my entire interior, including ceilings. Matt assisted me in selecting colors. The walls and trim previously had been painted all the same color, and I was planning to just keep it that way, but Matt suggested I use an updated color for the walls, with white woodwork and ceilings. It looks crisp and clean, and really improved the value of my home. The painting crew from Veenhuizen was impressive. The guys were careful and neat, and finished the job on time as they said they would. They arrived on time every morning, were cheerful and professional, and cleaned up after themselves each day. I’m really pleased that I had the painting done, and I highly recommend Veenhuizen Painting Specialties.

Excellent experience with Veenhuizen Painting Specialties. The wash/prep work was thorough and the painting result fantastic. I have a 5400sq ft home with 2 outbuildings. There was a main color with 2 trim colors and they had to work with oil and latex paints, so it was a big job. They were very careful with the property and followed special instructions I had to a tee. No negatives; would recommend them without reservation.

I was referred to Veenhuizen by a friend who has a construction company. I needed a small job - the finish on our maple kitchen cabinets was deteriorating. I brought in a door and asked if they could match the original finish and would they consider doing a small job. The answer was “yes.” They took the door and matched the finish perfectly! I brought in some additional doors and drawer fronts which they completed in short order. They even gave me some additional stain to use on a couple of panels that I couldn’t remove and showed me how to repair them myself. For any painting or fine cabinet work they will not disappoint! Worked with Matt to obtained a competitive bid for painting our outdated oak kitchen cabinets. Nick did a fantastic job prepping and painting the cabinet boxes while the the cabinet doors were painted at the shop. The dust and fumes were sealed off from the rest of the house and all non painted surfaces in the kitchen were fully protected. No overspray! Blemishes, nail heads, joints, and gaps in trim work were professionally hidden. Nick is a perfectionist so our cabinets and trim work looked better than before. I am so glad I did not try a do-it-yourself approach. The kitchen cabinets looks brand new and compliment the new vinyl planking and floor and kitchen island make over. Veenhuizen stands behind their work by providing a one year warranty. Thank you Veenhuizen Painting for our kitchen makeover. The results are so astounding we could be on HGTV.

After 23 years as the owner and GM of Murrayhill Remodeling Company I can certify the adage "You are only as good as your subs." Remodeling is complicated. We have to share our workspace with homeowners, keep a tight schedule, match existing finishes, control dust and make repairs. The degree of difficulty compared to new construction is striking. Because we have set our focus on the upscale market, we are working with the top designers and architects for the wealthiest and most successful families in the Portland/Vancouver metroplex. The finishes can be exotic and the expectations could not be higher. We have struggled since the beginning to find a painter who could keep up. About this time last year I searched the internet and sent emails to 12 of the top paint companies in Portland in addition to the 8 or 10 that we have already tried to work with. Seriously, like 5 minutes later, early on a Saturday morning, I got a phone call from Jake Campbell who was in the office working on the weekend. Two hours later he was giving me a tour of their facilities. From that moment to this day, with the many difficult projects we have now completed together, I can say with confidence that Veenhuizen Painting Specialties is tied for the best subcontractor we have ever worked with. Let me tell you why. These guys really get it. They understand their business and, better than that, they understand my business. Most people could not understand how difficult it is to do what Veenhuizen does every day and they make it look easy. Really, their systems are so well defined that, in comparison to other paint companies...their is no comparison to the experience that I have had with them and I could name names of other top companies that we have tried. Their system of communication, their system of hiring, their system of training their workers, their system of managing their shop...it is so dialed in that I no longer have to worry about finishes. No matter what I need I know that they can and will provide the quality and service that our fussy, picky, perfectionist, OCD clients demand. On top of it all they are clean and pleasant to work with and - don't tell them this - not the most expensive either. It has been my pleasure to meet and partner with the wonderful people at this this company. To Matt and Tiffany and Jake and Kyle and and Marko and, especially, to all of the guys on the crews who come to our jobs and work hard with their hands every day, thank you!
