1940's Colonial Home restored to it's natural beauty! Christian Cruz and his team were professional, neat, friendly and very attentive to all my questions and comments. Best price you can get in Bergen county and the team does a beautiful job. The house was completed in one day including set up and clean up. With small children, I was very sensitive to paint chips and the team did a good job in addressing the debris. I cannot praise the work done by ProTect Painters enough. From the moment I called them on a Friday evening, to the moment the job was done, they were there, responsive, helpful, fast and professional. I called for a quote on a Friday Evening, ProTect showed up Saturday Morning, We did the walk though, he pulled out his computer and I had a printed quote and contract before he left. Work started within a few days and wrapped up quickly. This was an 8 room nearly full internal house painting, with wallpaper removal and skim coating. All dents, cracks and other blemishes on the walls are completely gone; there was no mess left behind, everything looked perfect, not a single issue to be touched up. Protect and the team did a wonderful job with my Hawthorne House, and I will use Christian and his team again, that is for sure.

I’m sure that this company does great work, which is very apparent in their reviews. I had a very difficult time scheduling with this company. I submitted my paint colors (Dec 8, 2018) and hadn’t heard back from them for almost two weeks. When my account manager called, on Dec 17, 2018, she wanted to know if I wanted to start on Dec 19, 2018. That didn’t work for me so I asked if Jan 3/4, 2019 would work for them. She said she would ask her boss and call me back. I never heard back about those dates. Received a call on Jan 8, 2019 asking if I wanted to start the next day, which was less than 24 hours notice. I decided to take my business somewhere else. I’m sure they do great work and I wish them all the best in the future. *4/22/19* I came back and changed my star review for a couple reasons. First off, I’m pretty sure that this company has been writing there own reviews to give themselves a higher rating - Christian Cruz (the owner) and Jennifer Loor both work for this company and left reviews about how well 5 Star Painting did at their house. Who knows how many other reviews are real; there are a lot of similar reviews with the same grammatical/punctuation errors and people that have only left one review ever on google. Some of the reviews aren’t for this company either. Secondly, I got a call from this company a week ago after about five months. Christian called me to say he and his team were coming that Saturday to power wash my house. I was so confused by the whole thing that it took me a bit to actually figure out who he was and what he was talking about. I told this company 5 months ago that I wasn’t going to use their services mainly because of how disorganized the whole thing was. It was a complete mix up calling me and honest mistake but it isn’t very professional. I’d be careful with this company. Something isn’t adding up.

I had wallpaper from 50 years old that had to be removed from the entire house. I did not know who to turn to so i went online and found an impressive website for 5 Star Painting. I was immediately contacted by Chritian Cruz who came for an estimate on time. After assessing the house we started with the kitchen and bathroom. His crew completed the job with removal of the wallpaper and painting the walls, trim and doors. I was very happy and now continued with the rest ofthe house Very polite and courteous crew. Very reasonable pricing. They cleaned up everday before leaving. Place was spotless. I feel like i have a brand new house!

Christian and his team did fantastic job. He had a crew of about 6 that showed up 30 minutes early and managed to finish the entire house by 5pm the same day. That included them having to start over (more than halfway through), because I realized I had given his assistant the wrong code for the main pain color. Many other contractors would have taken advantage of my mistake and tired to apply a high surcharge to fix it. Christian through was more than fair in working out a price for something that was clearly my mistake. Everything from the main color to trim was so well done, that it looked like we had an entirely new house upon completion. The entire team from Christian on down were very professional and we absolutely recommend them to anyone!

ProTect Painters have done a beautiful job on the interior of my townhome. They painted a two story living room, dining room, foyer, two bedrooms and upstairs hallway. They removed wallpaper from kitchen, and two bathrooms and painted. They were here for 3 days. I found Christian and his crew to be pleasant and good workers. The pricing was very reasonable for the quality of work that was done. The preparation of the walls was done so well that there are no brush marks and the walls look like they are new. Christian and his crew painted my entire house which includes almost 4 floors, including bathrooms. The quote he gave me was very reasonable and he was very transparent on the type of paint (good quality) they will use and how much time it will take. After the initial conversation, Christian also stopped by another time to go through the colors we had selected and provided great advice on which ones would look better and which ones won't. They arrived on time and worked through the job with full dedication. They constantly asked us if we like the way a color is coming out on a wall / room and we're happy to move things around if we needed to. We were extremely pleased with the results , everything was done very neatly and professionally and within the amount of time they estimated earlier. They even did the touch ups for free on moldings and main entrance doors which wasn't part of their quote. Christian also offered to come by in the future to do small touch ups if needed. I would highly recommend them to anyone and would certainly use them in the future.

I would give ZERO if allowed. Seeing the great reviews online, I contacted them to paint our home and scheduled an appointment. I was told Jessica will be visiting. But she did not. I waited for 30 min and called their office. They neither gave me update nor assured me that someone else might visit. No one showed up and my day was wasted waiting and relying on them. I can't imagine if they abscond half way through the project.

Christian and his crew were professional, punctual, fairly priced (or so I thought), clean, and accommodating to our needs and preferences. We essentially used them for our entire home, both exterior and interior, and were very pleased with the results and service (initially). That being said, due to the timing of our move, we had to do some home renovations after the paint job was completed. As you can imagine, touch-ups were required, and that's when things got a bit sketchy. I went into my garage to grab some of the remaining wall paint that Christian and his crew left in my garage, and I did not find a single can of the paint that I had ordered and was quoted for. Long story short, I ordered paints from Benjamin Moore, and all I could find was Sherwin Williams color-matched paint. When I inquired to Five Star about what paint was used on my walls (because I wanted my touch-ups to match) and where the Benjamin Moore cans were, I got the run-around. They said it must be in my garage somewhere, and when I pressed further about what the Sherwin-Williams color-matched paint was for, I was told that it was used as a 'primer' with the 'real' Benjamin Moore paint used as a top coat. I'm not a painter, but that's incredibly irregular. I even called Sherwin Williams to inquire as to whether Christian had ordered primer during the period of his work at my residence, and their records showed that he simply bought regular color-matched paint. Not to mention that I bought a can of Gray Owl by Benjamin Moore, and it didn't match my primary wall color at all. Moreover, when I used some of the Sherwin Williams color-matched 'Gray Owl' on my wall, it matched the top coat perfectly. Honestly, I don't care about the nuances between SW and BM paints. If the crew had admitted that they used the color-matched paint, I wouldn't have cared. But it's the continuous dishonesty and evasiveness that I find insulting and unprofessional--especially for the amount of money that I spent. How am I supposed to touch up a wall if I have no clue what paint was used in my house and my contractor can't give me a simple, honest answer about what paint he used? My recommendation to any potential customer is to buy your own paint and then, maybe let Five Star do the painting. At least, then you'll get what you ordered and will be able to reproduce the color in the event that a touch-up is needed.
