Great job painting my siding, awnings and garage! Crew was professional, studious and meticulous. Made sure exterior parts of the home were properly covered and protected. Communication could use a little work. Job was delayed due to the poor spring weather we had, understandably, however, wasn't notified in advance when they were ready to start the job.

We hired this company to paint the outside of our house a couple months ago. They kept delaying the start of the job. They did come and power wash our house which removed a lot of the existing paint and made the house look really bad. Just found out after waiting about 6 weeks that they are not able to paint our house now because it is too difficult of a job for them. I would never hire this company!!! The scope of the work didn't change They should have known when they provided the bid and took our deposit that they wouldn't be able to complete the work. The owner answered this review and did refund our deposit. As I stated in my review, the scope of work didn't change. Our driveway is the same driveway that was present when he quoted the job and took our deposit. The house is the same house as it was when he quoted the job and took our deposit. He accepted the work in August, then canceled the job in October. Anyone that lives in Michigan understands that the window of opportunity for outside painting ends in the fall. The weather is not reliable and therefore makes it difficult to find painters that can accept a job late in the fall. Just a word of caution to anyone accepting quotes from this company.

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!! We contracted with this company to do interior work. We paid them 1/2 of the total and we agreed on a start date via text message. An error in scheduling on their part resulted in an 8 day delay to start that we were not aware of until the original start date. Meanwhile, our house is torn up waiting for painters. We had no option but to wait because we was informed that we would lose our deposit if we decided not to have the work done. They showed up and did the job, which was satisfactory, but were taking a bi-fold door home to spray. We were told it would be back the next day. We paid the remainder of the bill in good faith. 16 days later the door was dropped off at our front door. Their work was good, customer service and communication need work

Worst experience ever. First after getting the colors wanted and waiting over two months to get project started(do to weather, I get it) they send there power washer to my house with no advance notice( which was stressed at beginning , so we could move objects away from house, and secretary assured this) power washed around all objects without moving sed objects so there still dirt behind it. Needless to say they had to come back out. Ok is what it is. Then foreman shows up with crew and proceeded to ask me what exactly was to be done and that they didn’t get some of the paint because they couldn’t see the code that was given to them months prior, so foreman had to go get it and ended up getting wrong color completely. Total lack of communication, so when called peter to come to the house due to issues with prep work and paint etc. he proceeded to tell me he was to busy and to just send him pictures( really). So from there on we had to deal with foreman which was very polite and reassuring but totally spaced as soon as our conversation was over cause nothing was addressed, but yet they wanted there check. Went around house to check out work and they didn’t address any issues literally was shown to foreman and in a lot of spots never even painted once let alone the two coats that was to be done, noticed also lots of places not even covering old paint thoroughly so I know there was only one coat, not to mention the paint drippings on my roof, sidewalk, light fixtures etc. and cigarette butts in my gutters. Took them coming back three times after they said job was complete and having Pete there the last time in order to get job done and receive rest of the the money. So in a nutshell the owner was rude, arrogant and cocky and there is no communication from owner to crew leader and no communication from crew leader to workers. They may advertise a discount but I Would recommend going with other company, even if it costs a little more. Also makes me wonder with the experience we had that there were so many great reviews on the website and google also, hmm.

I really enjoyed meeting Pete, the owner, as he is personable and friendly. He spent time explaining what the job would entail, and discussed payment alternatives. The three-man crew called just before arriving at 830 am. They quickly prepped the walls and covered my floors and furniture for protection. The men were efficient and completed a complicated paint job in approximately 8 hours, which included 13 and 20 foot walls and ceilings. They were professional and worked well as a team. The result: My walls look beautiful. The only negative comment I have is that the company pushed my start date back by two weeks. Otherwise, I would have given Top Shelf a five-star rating. This company has my recommendation.

Great job on my siding! I had Top Shelf paint my old aluminum siding that hadn't been touched since the home was built in the 60's. It was gray from decades of dirt and the original scallop-edged front porch metal awning was green from, what, algae? Lol. Now it's bright and fresh and ready for another fifty years. Great job!

Extremely overpriced. This “big” company will send out a rookie to give you a ridiculously high estimate for even a small job everything is upcharged and I cannot believe I let this company waste my time. I read the reviews and didn’t expect such an outrageous price quote. They are out for big money and no telling how qualified their employees actually are. It’s a no from me.

We had seen Top Shelf at our friends house, and knew that they were very pleased with their work. When we were finally ready to have our colonial exterior painted, we called and received personal attention on all of our questions & concern regarding cost, color placement, color choice, job start & completion dates. Due to circumstances beyond our control, loved one passing, a delayed garage door order, my mother falling which led to surgery, and due to delays beyond their control, rain, their were many start date changes. This was frustrating for us & understandably for them. But, when I let them know that my mom was back home, that we were ready, they immediately got us on the schedule,even pulled workers from a much larger project. Jerry & Doug did a fantastic job painting our home. They took great care in accommodating our detailed requests, (even though they didn't agree necessarily,LOL). We had some unusual ideas for our windows, and they did exactly what we asked. Not only was everyone involved patient, polite, professional,and personal,(Linda at office,Peter,Kieth, the ones who power washed, Jerry & Doug who painted), they also delivered completely on customer satisfaction. These guys provided world class service and craftsmanship. Before I met Pete from Top Shelf I was having some major issues with the paint job that was done a few years before by a much less reliable painting contractor. I made the mistake of going with the lowest bid and assumed the contractor knew what he was doing because he had Sherwin Williams signs on his van and used the best paint that they had to offer. I was very disappointed when in less than 2 years the paint was starting to peel. Pete from Top Shelf came out and immediately pointed out all the areas where the previous painter had cut corners (cheap caulk, bad prep, etc). Within a week my home was looking like new! He replaced some wood and used the very best paint and caulk from PPG Paints who offer a lifetime warranty on all of the materials they used. Pete even included a warranty on labor. It's been 5 years since Top Shelf did the job and it still looks like it was painted yesterday! I recommend these guys to everyone, and many of my neighbors have had the same quality work done by Top Shelf.

Top shelf took care of my home when it flooded in 2014 from replacement of drywall flooring trim doors etc did a stand up job NO COMPLAINTS and trust me I looked very meticulously could not find a single flaw in there work. In February I had them paint the interior of my 7,500 sf home in Birmingham I'm telling you from start to finish from coverage of floors to the preparation they did before they painted to the cleanliness absolutely no complaints. This summer I will have them paint the exterior of my home. I have finally found a contractor I trust it's taken many years. TOP SHELF YOU HAVE A CLIENT FOR LIFE AND ANYONE I KNOW!

Had to have our garage repainted. Had severe peeling from a recent hail storm and areas of bare wood. Couldn't do it myself due to disability. Called three painters for estimates, CertaPro Painters, Top Shelf Painters, and a local painter recommended through the Nextdoor App. CertaPro didn't even return my call for an estimate request. The local painter gave me a high estimate after looking things over for about 5-10 minutes and said it would be a pay as you go cash only as additional work may be needed. The Top Shelf Painting rep came out and spent a good half hour measuring and taking pictures and told me I'd receive an estimate in a day or two... very professional. The next day I received the estimate and felt is was very reasonable. It included some wood replacement (which I expected),scraping where needed and two coats of paint. Once i approved the the estimate they sent me the contract via email and I signed off and sent it back. They do require half down for a deposit which you can pay online via credit card for a 4% service charge or you can send them a check. The balance will be required after the job is completed. The crew was out two days later and finished the job in a day! I wasn't home, nor was I required to be, during the project. When I got home I was extremely impressed with the attention to detail in the job! I will definitely recommend this company to anyone who needs a painting job done!
