This company does not treat its workers fairly. They are lured in with promises of high hourly wages and then not paid for all of the hours they work. The individual crew managers are disorganized and poor leaders and actively try to scam money from their workers to increase their own profits.

Recently a representative of "Student Painters" entered into our private community. Said individual then walked onto my property, which is clearly marked with "No Trespassing" AND "No Solicitation" signs, and without knocking, illegally placed an advertisement for this company on my door. When I came out and told him he had broken the law, he laughed in my face. I made 5 attempts to call their "888", asking again and again for supervisor or legal department, and was again and again refused until and unless I gave extensive details to the operator first, as "we have MANY supervisors". Eventually they hung up on me, and refused to answer the phone. Why on god's green earth would anyone want to do business with such a company? UPDATE: I note that in his response, the Owner does NOT address the fact that his employee Violated My Privacy, and Broke-the-Law by trespassing on clearly marked Private Property. Not surprisingly, he decides the best way to divert attention from this fact is by attacking the victim (me). He then insults his female employees, calling them "girls", and also fails to admit that (while I did shout at said ~women~), I did so only after they repeatedly gave me the 3rd degree, rather than simply connecting me to a supervisor or legal department as I asked. By the 4th attempt, damn right I shouted, most people would be fed up at that point.

The Student Painters of Kalamazoo, led by Branch Manager, Lizzy Farnsworth, did an excellent job painting our old shed. It was in rough shape! All of the students on the team, who happen to be WMU Broncos, were hard workers. They were professional and polite! Thank you!

The students finish the work as fast as possible because they make more money if they do. The business plan is good for the business but, bad for the customer They leave touch ups in spots you won't see and there also a lot of other mistakes because of carelessness like paint on your brick. 100% would not recommend. Just hire someone professorial or do it for self.

This company can't follow through with agreements to their employees. I used to work here, and during my employment I was told by my manager to pick up a ladder to add to my inventory and that the company would pay the seller of the ladder. Now a full year later the seller was never paid and is asking for the ladder back, but it has already been sold as I no longer paint houses and was told the ladder was mine by my direct manager. They then had the audacity to ask me to give up another ladder that I paid for and use to make up for their failure to follow through with their deal. I offered to give them the ladder in return for fair payment, but got talked over and hung up on. This is an issue that shouldn't involve me, but they chose to make it my problem when they failed to follow through with their end of the deal and acted unprofessionally by having the seller contact me instead of simply paying them as I understood to be the original agreement. I'm sure there are great people still working at this company, and that some of them can paint a house just fine, but the management style leaves a lot to be desired.

Its a great way to test yourself and mature all while being surrounded by a community of other students pushing through obstacles and mentors who have your best interest at heart.

I'm not the type of person to write bad reviews but I cannot get ahold of anybody from student painters to contact me. Long story short my house was messed up it look like my six-year-old painted our house. They did try to fix the problem with paint thinner and messed up my house even more I have huge spots all on my siding from the paint thinner. Student painters did come out with their bosses and admitted my house was messed up and said they would fix it. They even had an executive from Sherwin Williams come out and agreed that our house was done very poorly and messed up. After they left they will not answer our phone calls extremely unprofessional. I do not suggest no one having this company paint their house check out Yelp they have bad reviews on there too I wish I did my research before I had these people paint my house. You get what you pay for I've learned my lesson

We were extremely pleased with Lorenzo Hernandez and his team of Student Painters. :Lorenzo and his crew of college students did an excellent job of painting the trim on our house. It was a big job of scraping and calking and preparation before painting. The group was very professional, skilled, and meticulous every step of the way! They did a great job painting the trim!! And the students were extremely pleasant and competent each day. We are highly grateful to Lorenzo and his team in each step of this painting process. We have professional painters on hand, however, a Student Painters sign went up in the neighborhood and we opted to check them out. Monica Messerly came out to provide the estimate. She gave us a fair price and exuded confidence in her fellow painters that the large job could be handled professionally. Oh my, what a great decision on our part. They started early, stayed to a reasonable hour, cleaned up, returned the next day and the next, to paint our 2-story large home. No cell phones, computers or horsing around. BEWARE!! We just had the pillars painted on our deck and some other odd ends and it looks like my 11 yr old painted it. They made a mess with the paint on our deck and smeared the paint on the deck trying to clean it off after we asked them to clean it up. They never scraped off the old paint, so there are cracks in the paint and drips all over. We were reluctant in hiring them as they are college students, but Ricky (the manager) assured us that they do good work and everyone is pleased with their work. I wanted to help these kids out too as they are just getting started in this crazy life. BIG MISTAKE! We live in Davison, MI. BEWARE! A complete waste of our money and now we have to paint it the right way. If you want to throw your money away hire them...

I had student painters stain my deck last July, and already this summer the stain is peeling off. Not sure why stain is peeling, but I'm guessing either they sealed the deck then stained, or the stain is not good. I was told to pick a stain from Sherwin Williams, but they said I could pick any stain I wanted, there would not be an issue. When they stained the deck, they told me I needed another coat and I'd have to pay more, which now made them more expensive than another company I quoted that guaranteed 1 coat was enough and if not, they'd cover the cost. When I called this summer, it took over a week and a half for Student Painters to tell me they will not look at my deck since they do not warrant their work. I even sent pictures of how horrible it looks, I guess they're not concerned that the stain is peeling everywhere and needs to be completely redone. They did say they warrant quality, isn't this considered bad quality? Definitely will never hire them again. What a waste of money and now my time to restain my deck.
