CertaPro Painters just completed a job with the exterior painting on my home. Nayla and her crew started the job earlier than promised, and worked dilligently for three days pressure washing and painting the home. They did a fantastic job making my 20yr old home look like new again. I live in a HOA-controlled subdivision, and I defy them to find a flaw on the exterior of my home. They used high quality products, and left me the unused paint for touch-up purposes. The price was very fair, and considerably less than other estimates for the work I needed done. After thoroughly vetting three other painters in that serviced our area (Winter Garden), we found CertaPro to be the best fit for our job. We had all of the walls painted on our first floor, and all of the trim (baseboards, doors, and rails) painted through our entire house. Certa is definitely the cheapest painting in town. But as the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. The so called painting consultant they offer is a scam. She didn't bring any of the colors she knew we wanted to our meeting, claiming she forgot them. She acted like she had a sense of the colors we wanted but when we received her package in the mail with the samples only 2 of them were what we asked for. The rest were wildly off base. When we asked her to come back she said it was "on us" and we would have to pay a $100 for her to return. So she has a nice little scam going on there. Next, painters just randomly showed up one day to paint. We were not given any notice and we had not even picked out a paint color! To this day we have no clue what color they were about to paint our house. And had we not been here to stop them ...I don't know. Get a lawyer I guess? Fortunately we were here and could intervene but none of the workers speak English very well so was difficult to communicate the issue. And the staff at Certa Pro was not apologetic at all. In fact they acted like it was no big deal saying they didn't know why the painters showed up. When we finally picked a color, the painters again showed up without notice. After we specifically asked to be notified at least 24 hours before their arrival. I work from home and it is very inconvenient to have a group of men banging around outside. Again they spoke very little English so communicating with them was difficult. They were nice guys, and this is not their fault at all. It is entirely the responsibility of management to communicate their expectations clearly and meet the needs of the customers. However, the workers were sloppy. They damaged our property, smoked on the property and left cigarette butts in the yard, paint smeared all over grass and siding and trim, debris left everywhere. They did finish the job is less than 3 days, so it's impressive but sloppy work. Next time we'll go for the $8k painter to get the quality we were looking for.

We had Alfonso do an initial quote and then ended up with another contractor due to a referral which was a big mistake. After firing the original painter for breach of contract, we called Alfonso back and the professionalism of him and his subcontractors was very good! He was easy to reach, punctual and the work was done very well and very quickly. The only complaint I have is that the contract was not explained to me as well as I would have hoped and parts of the house I thought were included were not (fascia and soffets). This was not Alfonso's fault as I should have done my research, but would have been a nice added touch if this had been explained. I would definitely recommend Alfonso and his team-just ask lots of questions if you have any BEFORE the work is started (lesson learned) :)

Afonso and his team exceeded my expectations! He was very prompt in sending the quote and with responding to any questions or concerns I had. We had the interior of our home painted, and the pricing was reasonable. I was concerned midway through the job because it looked sloppy (various drips and paint splatters), but by the time I did the final walkthrough, all imperfections had been cleaned up without me pointing anything out. I contacted Certapro to paint the inside and outside of my house for around $10,000. The paint on the outside was cracking before the end of the year. I called Frank Mai. He showed up, inspected the paint and saw that it was indeed cracking. But he only spot painted the area. Less than a year later, the paint was cracking again! This time, he repainted the whole house again but the crew he hired was absolutely horrible! They left paint spatters all over my outside banisters. They left wet paint on my lawn. They broke my garden hose holder and stole the garden hose attachment. They left paint chips chips everywhere. I'm still finding chipped paint on the ground. And to top it off, they went into my garden shed without permission and left a drop cloth absolutely filled with chipped paint. This was the most horrible experience I have ever had with any contractor. I would absolutely caution you to stay far away from this company. I haven't even told the full story!

The company was recommended to me by a neighbor who really liked their work. I had a fair estimate, and decided to hire them for a project! I scheduled and confirmed a date with the sales person about 4 days in advance. On the date of work, no crew showed up. I called and was told there was a scheduling issue (after I'd cleared and planned my whole day with my three kids to be available but out of the house). There would be no compensation, but "can they come tomorrow?" I called the office to speak to the owner to politely express my frustration and to find out if they could give me any discount at all for the no show. I was told the owner would call. I was never called. At the end of the business day I called the office again. I was told that the owner was too busy to call me, and that they could come back tomorrow and apologize, but there would be no discount. I politely said that, since no crew came to work with no word until I called to check on things, and I couldn't even speak to the owner about the issue, I would rather cancel as day of my time was wasted, and I feel like I can't trust the service or warranty. Very disappointing experience.

Michael Smart completely destroyed the look of my cedar home. Mr Smart reassured me he would make sure I was happy; however Mr Smart has left my home in worse condition than when we first met. All I wanted was for my home to be "stained" - instead while I was out of town his painter took it upon himself to not only make a color change - it was PAINT! After 2 attempts to fix this major screw up, Michael Smart walked away leaving me to clean up his screw up, not to mention he refused to paint the 2nd crew of painters since I made sure the 1st one would not be back. Michael Smart is not a man of his word and was very compassionate about fixing the issue created by his 1st painter and only got worse the second go round trying to cover up the screw up. I have been in contact with corporate, Matthew Comeau, his boss and my attorney. Michael Smart assured me he would fix this and he has not done one thing to be a respectable representative of this franchise. He may be very capable of painting.... but beware when it comes to stain! Come see for yourself before using him 9595 Labonne Terre - Shreveport and the condition he left my home in... Unreliable - coward - unprofessional - his final comment to me AFTER he met with me and assured me he would make this right was - he was walking away and basically I owed him zero! Well, thank you Mr Smart for ruining my home and not charging me! He is a class act!

The crew that came in was amazing and worked hard everyday to completed the project. Honestly at first I was skeptical because of the cost, but once I saw how long it took a crew of 6 guys to do everything that I requested, I realized that I really had no idea of the amount of work and the effort it would take to do it. The final product looks great and is worth every penny. Had our home been painted with this level of attention to detail when we bought it 8 months ago, I would have easily paid more and certainly enough to cover the cost of the work. I would absolutely recommend CertaPro Painters of Fairfax to anyone needing painting. I don't see how you could possibly be disappointed.

DO NOT HAVE CERTAPRO PERFORM ANY CARPENTRY WORK!!! The paint team contractors that worked on my exterior trim project were friendly and seemed to do a decent job of prepping the surfaces and painting a double coat of a good quality paint. However, I have serious concerns about the integrity of the CertaPro company itself for several reasons: 1) In their contracts, they purposely use misleading language to lower their costs and, ultimately, to do a lower quality job painting your home. Where the contract suggests a “repair,” they will use a wood filler only, often in an area that is far too large to be using wood filler and should instead be “replaced” with PVC board. They will take photos only of a small chip where they put the wood filler, then scrape away a significant area of rotten wood to fill it with wood filler, then paint over it to cover their misuse of the wood filler product with no photo evidence. Case in point: I requested that the trim on a back bay window at my home be “repaired.” I assumed this meant “restore to functioning condition.” Instead, the trim was spackled with wood filler, not properly caulked or painted, and is—at only 6 months later—paint cracked and bubbling, soft, rotten all around the “repair”, and worse than before the job. When I had the manager out to look at the issue, he made every excuse he could think of for why the damage is an issue with my home’s structure. Instead of offering to complete the job correctly, I was instead given an estimate to have the work done a second time—another $275. 2) They will take unauthorized short cuts to save THEIR COMPANY MONEY. CertaPro does not adhere to their own contracts if you aren’t standing next to the workers watching what they do. I paid to have a rotten board that is STRUCTURAL SUPPORT on my garage trim “replaced” with wood or PVC. I came out of my home to find that the rotten area (approximately a 6” x 4” area) had been filled with wood filler and was in the process of being painted over. It had already been completed and I was told another trim piece on the second story needed to be replaced, so I agreed to swap the cost of the trim piece for leaving the garage board as completed with the wood filler. Now the filler is cracking and I will have to replace the board myself soon. Had I not caught the worker in the process of this cheap and dangerous fix, I would not have ever known CertaPro did not adhere to their end of the contract. Where they can, they will cut corners. They do not treat your home like it is their own. Beware. 3) Their 2 year warranty isn’t actually a warranty at all. It excludes just about any issue you might have down the road (like any carpentry work that decays, like mine did) and requires that you pay the cost of materials for any work completed under warranty. Any chipping or bubbling of paint on the exterior of a home can be attributed to sun or water damage, and the warranty doesn’t cover damage from natural causes. You can bet they’ll discover that “water pools” where your paint damage is if you try to get coverage under their warranty. I’m still paying off the job they did on my home last October. I’ve done my fair share of painting and carpentry work, so I know I can repair the damage they either created or did not, in fact, “repair” under contract. But with two small children at home, redoing a job I paid several thousand dollars to HAVE DONE RIGHT THE FIRST TIME is not how I want to spend my evenings and weekends. Find someone who works independently and will take pride in the quality of their work. Who will treat your home like their own. CertaPro is clearly just in it for the fast cash and it shows.

The end product of an exterior paint job was much better quality than I could have done (and I have painted multiple other properties I own because I wanted them done right). We had the benefit of seeing their quality of work done on a house in our neighborhood of Bluegrass Estates and decided to give them a try. I made the mistake of getting concerned toward the end of the job - there was a lot of over spray on previous newly painted 3 color paint scheme. What they were doing was high quality and brilliant work. They were overlapping the paint in corners where there was a color transition so they could create crisp, sharp and straight lines where color transition took place. This prevents peeling and a much stronger joint. They do all the detail work the last day and all the overspray is gone and the color transition lines were better than what I could have created (and they did it in a lot less time). And there was never overspray on "non paint" areas. I highly recommend them.

They left our master bedroom with a hole in the wall, unpainted areas and paint on the carpet and trim. 2. In the living room, one painter fell off the ladder and paint wascsplattered including on our area rug and hardwood flooring. 3. Sloppy paint spills outside, on brand new roof, screened patio flooring. 4. Painted over rotten wood and told us it wasn’t rotten. It was. They had to fix. 5. I would highly recommend this service, I was a bit hesitant because I had had some bad experiences with other home services, but upon booking a free estimate, I was sent an immediate email and appointment time for the walk around. Afonso, walked me through the house and what I wanted and colors I thought I would want, I had not painted my house in awhile and was really at a loss, he made some suggestions but recommended I go to the paint store and see for myself,. His quote was reasonable and I set off to the store, I went with his 2 suggested colors and chose one I liked better for the third. Upon agreed upon date for paint, the painters arrived on time and worked cleanly and without much disruption to my home, they were very clean and very professional. They found some areas where they thought I "might" have some termite activity and agreed to come back once I had it treated to putty and paint those areas. The painters took no more than 3 days to paint my home and put everything back as it was. The whole process was stress free and I did not feel price gouged and or taken advantage of, and I had very little clean-up to do. Afonso came by to inspect and make sure everything was to my liking at the end of the job, which was nice. If you want a respectful, reasonable and a job well done, this is the company! I hired them to paint my oak kitchen cabinets high gloss white. The result is a HORRIBLE shabby chic, distressed look. In addition to the terrible quality of the workmanship/final product, the job took almost three times as long as it should because work schedule and fixing major mistakes. Working with them was a very bad experience and they were VERY expensive and not experienced enough to have taken this job. Basically if you need some drywall painted they are probably fine, painting wood though... do not hire.

Afonso and his team did a wonderful job. When Afonso showed up to give us a quote he took his time to walk through our house and discuss our options, gave us a color recommendation (which we ended up liking and going with), noticed and pointed out a spot in the bathroom that wasn't caulked that we hadn't noticed before, and gave us a fair quote. He detailed the job in writing to make sure there was no miscommunication on what was being done. I was called by the head painter every day with a quick status update, and Afonso checked in regularly to make sure I was happy with how things were going. They managed to finish the job in 3 days (they had originally quoted 5 days, but they ended up having one more painter on the job than expected, so they got it done much faster). My wife and I were nearby when they called to let me know they were done, so I drove over for a walk through and everything looked good. They even unexpectedly painted the attic door for us (it was the only part of the ceiling that looked bad, so I was going to just paint it myself with any extra paint they left, but they noticed it looked terrible and painted it for me without it even being in the contract). We had told them to not worry about getting the upstairs carpets dirty at all when they painted, since we had already planned for them to be replaced right after they finished painting... but the carpets barely showed any sign that the painters were ever there despite them knowing they didn't need to worry about getting them dirty - just a few very tiny drops of paint (which would have been very easy to clean off if we bothered to try at all). The worst "problem" I had with his team was that his painters showed up a few minutes late the first day... but it was only a few minutes and they had called to let me know as soon as they realized they were going to be late, so that is very forgivable. I'd definitely recommend them to anyone needing a painter.
