Eric came right out the day I called to give me an estimate for some siding repair, exterior and interior painting and carpentry work. I felt his estimate was fair. It took several weeks for his crews to come out due to weather and I know they were very busy. When the carpenters and painters finally finished, it was beautiful. My wife and I were very pleased with the work and workmanship.

Overview: Outstanding - First Class company and awesome people - Exceeded Expectations - Great customer service - Great ideas - Great quality of work - Eric and Jim are the best. Details: I wanted to bring life to an old 1941 rental in Westwood. I met with several painting companies. But, the ideas they offered were basic; or they couldn't do things like deck repair and/or adding shutters and flower boxes; or they were very negative in their approach - almost like they did not want to be there. And, they were all late to the agreed upon appointment time! One guy was 45 minutes late and never apologized - he was the owner of his company! I thought there had to be a better company. I looked on-line and started to see great reviews for Mission Painting. I called and from the very start it was a different company from the rest. The assistant who scheduled me was prompt and followed up with an email. But, the person who won the job was the owner - Eric. He is the real deal. Former military and a heart of gold as he gives 10% to needy kids around the world. He was on-time so that was a huge leg up on the competition. Such a simple concept. He was positive and upbeat; he worked with me on ideas; he pointed out areas of concern; he understood my budget and he offered alternatives during a detailed orientated one hour meeting. He was not intimidating nor did he feel the need to share how smart he was when it came to painting and how ill-informed the customer is. He was simply a guy who wanted to help the customer get the job done and he explained the details when needed. He then gave a lengthy proposal that covered all the details, to include pictures and statements about the project. Thereafter, I had the pleasure of working with Jim. Jim supervises the crews and I have never worked with a more conscientious, polite and customer orientated individual than Jim. He is in a perfect role for his strengths. Jim and I exchanged several telephone calls, text messages and had several in-person meetings during the course of the entire project. He is a great listener full of compassion for the customer. He wants the project to be exactly what you have in-mind and he keeps you updated on all the details. My project had changes and had things that did not work out - but Jim and Eric made it right. I do not believe the other companies would have done that. Since this was a rental, I was not on-site everyday to see the painting crew. However, I stopped by one day and Manuel - the crew chief - stopped what he was doing to give me a progress report. We had a great conversation and as we walked the house I would point things out. He addressed every item without hesitation. My renters later told me it was a great crew and they had great conversations with them. I dreaded getting the house painted - especially after meeting several painting companies that each seemed to be lacking something or lacking several things. I am so glad I found Mission Painting. Yes, out of the 5 bids they were the highest (only a few hundred dollars than the next highest) but the quality of work, the attention to detail, the customer first attitude, and the way Eric and Jim made sure I was 100% satisfied - well, all that made it well worth it and made it a bargain in the long run. Good paint and deck jobs should last a long time, the cost in the end is minimal considering the joy we will get from the quality of work and the pleasant experience we had with the company, and the confidence we have that if there are any issues down the road, then Mission Painting is the type of company that stands by its work. We had Somerset Painting & Home Improvements paint many of our ceilings in our 3000 sq ft home. The job took several days. James and David always arrived on time and were very polite. When we pointed out potential issues with the work, they were quick to resolve the issues to our satisfaction. They always went the extra mile to make sure we were satisfied. We had a fluorescent light fixture in the kitchen that we planned to replace but couldn't do it prior to their arrival. They were able to get an electrical contractor to come out in short order and install a fixture that we purchased for a reasonable price before finishing the kitchen ceiling. They were a joy to have in our home. The ceilings look great. They were awesome!!! We'll be contacting them in the future for more home improvement work.

I had been concerned that because the job was so small (smooth-- and re-spackle where necessary--the holes and paint 3 walls) that I'd have trouble finding someone to do the job. But I phoned Somerset Painting and the Owner came right out and gave me an estimate and his crew came out the following week and did the work. (Had to wait for the first rainy day because their schedule was full for out-of-doors work.) The workers were tidy, professional in their behavior, and they cleaned up after themselves; they were in and out in less than a day and the rooms look lovely. I would definitely hire them again!

We used Mission Painting to paint several rooms in our home. Eric was very professional from start to finish. The initial quote he provided was very detailed, and he was readily available when we had questions about pricing as well as adding some services. Despite inclement weather, the crew showed up on time and completed the project within the two day period that was promised. The results were everything that we could have wanted. They were able to fix multiple spots on our walls that had damage from the previous owners, as well as remove an oddly placed section of popcorn ceiling that was actually wall space. When it was discovered that the railing on our staircase had a small amount of damage from a ladder, Eric was quick to make things right. This is our first home, as well as our first experience working with painting companies. Our experience with Mission Painting was better than we could have hoped for. We would definitely use Eric and his guys in the future if we choose to paint more rooms in our home

Unlike many other contractors I have used one thing that impressed me the most was the quick responses to any communications etc. Once we agreed on a price and that I would use them, the only thing that delayed getting the job done was the crummy Kansas Spring weather. Not anything any one can do about that, and I respected the fact that they knew they couldn't work/paint on rainy and humid days etc. Once it was my turn the crew that was assigned to my house showed up exactly as scheduled. They were extremely polite and knowledgeable and got the job done. They took the time to have me check it over, took care of little things I pointed out etc and cleaned up thoroughly when they where finished. The house looks great, and I am sure it will last a long time, if something comes up, I feel confident they will come back and make it right. We got on the schedule in a reasonable amount of time, and our final price paid was comparable to other estimates. We did find some small touch-ups that were needed after the job was complete, but Jordan was great about working with us to get those addressed promptly. We had Arturo's crew, and they were very professional.

Eric and Jordan coordinated all aspects of the project scheduling activities and always made themselves available for answering questions. These three gentlemen accomplished every detail with a very professional attitude and took the initiative to identify any small detail which was not necessarily discussed in advance. This is by far one of the best companies we have found using Angie's List. Eric, his on-site project manager, and the whole team did a very high quality job for me. I am an out of state home owner trying to get a house repaired and sold from out of state and I trusted this team with my house and a very aggressive timeline. They delivered in every way. From the beginning, Eric showed me via FaceTime that the necessary work was actually more than anticipated. I could see for myself the full scope of the project and he was upfront and honest from the beginning about the scope, the estimated costs, the anticpated problems we might run into. They accomplished all of the agreed upon work plus a few other add-ons in the timeframe I needed and all of the work was quality work. I can't speak highly enough of this company. Courteous, respectful, thorough, and really quality work. The house was amazing when they were finished, even coming back for touch-ups, and working around other trades. We recently contracted with Mission Painting & Home improvements to paint our homes exterior and have been totally satisfied with every aspect of the job.Our initial contact was with Eric who explained everything in detail and provided and estimate. We had two change orders which increased the final cost, but this was because we added to the scope of the work and chose an expensive paint. So if you are type of person who needs a down to the penny quote, make sure you know exactly what you want going in. Ricky and his crew: Selvin, Daniel and Robert were amazingly efficient, knowledgeable and hardworking all the while dealing with pop up thunderstorms and scorching heat. Every surface was cleaned, repaired, caulked and taped prior to painting. Honestly I think they spent 75% of their time prepping and only 25% painting but you can certainly see how all this prep work positively affected the finished product. I also appreciated the fact that they were careful around all my plantings which are numerous and quite frankly probably a pain to work around. When they were finished the job site was cleaned of all trash and debris which in my experience is often not the case. After completion I did a “walk around” with both Ricky and Jordan, the project manager, and didn’t find one problem. How often can you say that? If something does come up I am confident they will resolve it promptly. Mission Painting may not be lowest bid, but you get what you pay for, and I feel like I received good value for my money. I would hire these guys again in a heartbeat.

From the first meeting during the estimate to the final walk through after the job was complete, they made sure we had all questions answered and made sure every detail, including small ones were taken care of. The project manager, Jim had noticed a small spot that I didn't see and had the painter come and touch that up before leaving. Alfonso did an incredible job fixing the ceiling that had and issue and making it look like nothing had ever happened. He also came in and painted an area last minute that I originally didn't think I wanted painted, but afterwards realized it did. He was very gracious and made it look perfect. They also were very respectful of our home. Everything and I mean everything was covered and taped off, including every square inch of the floor. We didn't have any paint splatter or other messes, it was completely cleaned up when they were finished. I absolutely love the work they did and thank them so much for making our home so beautiful.

Somerset painting gave our house a much needed MAKEOVER! Our whole house had old wood trim and popcorn ceilings, Eric's crew came in while we were on vacation and had it transformed by the time we got home! We enjoyed getting an update from Eric while on vacation and came home to freshly painted trim, ready for us to pick our wall paint colors. It was great. We had contacted another provider and waited about 6 weeks. I called Eric (Somerset Painting) and talked to him in the morning. He got back to me within an hour, checked with his team, had me send a photo of the damage. He gave me a quote, promised to do it that day. He had a great crew show up and as promised they stayed until done that night. But that isn't the best part. We expected good service, we got great service. The crew was not only very professional (you could tell by the quality of the work, the care and pride they took. They had to remove siding to the peak of the house (about 25 ft tall). After they reset each piece, they wiped it clean so the house would look nice when done. It was little details like that that really set these guys aside. I was hesitant to trust them because of past experience with others, Eric let me hold all the cards, provided better than I expected and I will always call him first if I need a job done. I also wanted to take a moment and speak about the owner of the company Eric Regan. I had entered into a contract with him last year for a large painting project. I had to abruptly cancel the project due to an unforeseen health problem that arose. Eric did not charge me a cancellation fee or say anything regarding the short notice. He was understanding and wished me well. When I came back this year to have the project completed after the health crisis had been resolved, Mr. Regan did not raise the price from the quote given last year and asked about my health. You can find professional painters out there but it is nice to know that the owner of the company you are dealing with is honest, professional, has integrity and genuine concern for his clients. This will be a long review and if you don’t have time just skip to the paragraph at the end. I cannot say enough good things about Eric at Somerset Painting & home improvements. My wife and I along with our four children recently took the plunge and purchased a 120 year old farmhouse that is beautiful and wonderful, but also as you can imagine in need of some serious love and attention including lead paint mitigation. With all the work to be done we had a pretty tight budget so we did a lot of shopping around for pricing. Half the companies I called had let their lead paint certification lapse and wanted to do the job, and just not acknowledge the presence of the lead. With the bank overseeing everything and four kids and a dog about to be running around the home that was a big no. When I called Eric I left him a message outlining our needs. When he called me back he let me know that his license had also lapsed, but he wanted to go about it the right way. He had already found a certification course and booked a slot to renew his license. When I offered to include his certification costs in the bid he declined said it was something that wasn’t used that often, but something that was good to have for his business. He had the certification paperwork done and sent over allowing the bank to approve our renovation loan on time. Which was standard for him Eric always responded quickly even on the weekends. The closing was delayed by over a month for unrelated reasons and even though Eric had given me a bid based on the slower early spring season he honored the original bid during the busy season of early summer. On top of everything else Eric and his team did an amazing job. All three stories of our home look incredible, the work passed inspection by the bank and city with no concerns. I wish the rest of the renovation had gone as smooth. We have dealt with our GC, plumbers, electricians, foundation repair, flooring, cabinetry etc. Eric is the only one that didn’t try to adjust his bid or overcharge out of all of them. Any work I need done in the future I will be calling Eric first.

Somerset responded very timely to my initial call for an estimate. Eric was very professional and transparent about the extra charges for drywall repair. Although Somerset was $3,000.00 more than the other bid I received, the quality of work was worth the price. Our walls were in rough shape after removing wallpaper and Somerset ended up having to skim the entire dining room. One bedroom was also in horrible shape after wallpaper removal and I was worried that the room would need new drywall. However, with a lot of elbow grease and talent, the room looks brand new. Our master bedroom also looks amazing. During the work Somerset broke one of our stone steps on the front porch. I was a little frustrated that they did not tell me about it and I had to bring to their attention, but once I did the issue was resolved and their mason came out and replaced the step (this guy was awesome by the way). I will be using Somerset for any masonry work I need in the future. Our steps are 16 years old and you can't even tell which one he replaced. I have also hired Somerset to paint the exterior of another home and stain the deck. I will continue to use Somerset for future work and would recommend them to anyone. You get what you pay for and I have no reservations on spending the extra money for the results that were delivered. The only other opportunity we encountered was cleanliness. When we came home after the work was finished the amount of dust left behind was excessive in one room. I know that skimming and sanding is very messy and expected to do some dusting but this was disappointing. When I did contact Eric about the issue he did personally come to my house that evening and clean it. My husband had already taken care of so Eric did not need to come. We received a total of 3 quotes from various companies/individuals to have the exterior of our home painted… when all was said and done, I know we made the right decision by hiring Mission Painting. Our experience was first class from the beginning when Eric, the owner himself, came-out to do a walk-through and presentation. After that, we knew were in good hands and they were going to take excellent care of us. Eric was readily available throughout, but his right-hand guy Jordan did a fantastic job of running point on the project and communicating in a timely fashion with my wife who’s home during the day. As for their crew, they were polite, professional, easy to work with and did an exceptional job with regards to the finished product. We couldn’t be happier. Other things worth noting are 1) their services included a paid-for color consult by an independent 3rd party AND a mock-up ahead of time of what the home would like given our color choices. These were both a nice touch. 2) we encountered a stucco issue after the power washing… before moving forward with the paint, Mission Painting quarterbacked an effort on our behalf to interview 3 different stucco contractors to get it resolved. We didn’t have to do anything other than give them the okay to hire the best-suited contractor. Most impressive! And, 3) their crew tore up our basketball net on accident with one the ladders on their van… it happens. Jordan and Eric both called to apologize and we were reimbursed for a new net. Classy move! Mission Painting did a quality job painting our walls, trim, and doors. Eric was easy to work and communicate with, gave a detailed estimate, and stayed on budget. The crew prepped well which helped minimize dust, caulked the trim, and skim-coated a section of wall that needed it. The paint job was great: quality paint was used and the final outcome was drip-free with straight lines along the trim. While the crew paid great attention to detail for the actual paint job, there was a little less detail in some of the extras. We were told we could leave some nails/screws in the walls that we didn’t want filled in (so we wouldn’t have to remeasure where to put things), but the nails/screws were mostly painted over and a few were bent in the process. Blinds, doorstops and other hardware were removed prior to painting, but many valances were taped up because the clips were broken, one doorstop was missing, and one towel rack was put on upside down which damaged the holes. When we pointed the problems out to Eric, he was quick to have the crew replace the bent and missing items as well as repair the holes and repaint the areas. Overall, we’re very happy with our newly painted walls and trim!
