In the fall of 2015 we removed the 50-year-old aluminum siding from our 1940 house and went back to the original wood siding. J&H Painting pressure washed, scraped, primed and painted the entire house. They did a great job in restoring the original exterior and the house looks beautiful. We recently replaced the columns and some wood trim on our front porch. We hired J & H painting to caulk/paint the new items and touch up some other trim, along with power washing the front of our home. Heath and his paint crew were all very friendly, courteous and professional. They showed up on time and worked very hard. The painters were extremely careful and neat. They used plenty of tape for clean lines, plastic sheeting and drop cloths where needed. In addition to the trim and columns, they spray painted our front door and both garage doors, making them all look like new. Heath checked in periodically to make sure things were going smoothly and worked on the project himself at times. He went above and beyond by filling in and painting over some nail holes in my siding at no extra charge. One of the painters wasn’t happy with our windows after the power washing so he went and got another product to use. He scrubbed and got 11 years of grime off of them! My husband and I are both very pleased with our porch. J & H did such a great job that I’m hiring them to power wash and stain our wood fence. I plan to hire them at a later date for interior painting.

We hired J&H in April 2019, right after moving into our new home, and they started the project at the end of May. The project was supposed to involve about 2200 sq. ft. of interior walls, trim and doors. We didn't shop around, aside from looking at options online, we just met with Heath and knew they would be the best option for the quality work we were looking for. It's taken me 3 months to write this review because, along with having a busy summer, I wasn't sure how I wanted to handle it. ALL of their reviews are 5 stars, and honestly I don't feel they deserved that. The finished project looks great, and Joe was a very friendly and professional worker, who made me feel comfortable having him in our home for the month-long job. We love the new paint job and appreciate the work that was done, and I don't want that to be overlooked. Looking back though, I had some issues that I didn't think I would encounter going into this project. There was a miscommunication in the quoting stage on what was to be painted, and it left out big items in our quote. (A wall of built-in shelving and a full bathroom, to name a few.) This was very disappointing and caused issues in the days leading up to the start of the project. We decided to remove painting the finished basement and the walls in two spare bedrooms just to get the project within budget. There were some problems with overall clean-up. During the final walk through and the day after, Joe fixed many clean-ups I found along the way, however, as time has passed, I've been finding more. In fact, just a few days ago, I peeled up leftover tape from a bathroom floor. Clearly, some things are hard to notice, as it took me 3 months to find that tape, but it just seemed once everything was painted, he checked us off his list and hurried through the rest. (This also goes to show that one person doing all the work is a bit short-handed!) Speaking of clean-up, there was an accident that caused a significant amount of paint to spill on our carpet. Joe worked many hours on the spot to clean it up and I truly appreciated his effort. What I didn't appreciate was that Heath, the owner, never bothered to come look at the spot, let alone, the finished product. Then, sent us the final bill with a comment that I approved that it was cleaned. The carpet is stained and nothing will fix that, I just didn't need Joe to waste anymore time on it. I'm really not even upset about the spill, accidents happen. There are actually a few small spots on the stairs as well, but at that point I didn't want bother with it. I also want to note that the paint itself is not as durable as I would expect. The doors and walls have shown everything that touches it, and it doesn't clean off without serious scrubbing. And, any bump into a wall or trim with anything of weight, like a vacuum cleaner, will chip the paint - not the drywall or wood trim, just the paint. I'm not talking about reckless heaving of a vacuum cleaner, I literally mean just an accidental bump into it with normal use. I've just never had this much trouble with paint before and it's a bit concerning. I thought we'd be able to discuss some of the issues with Heath when he came to see the final project, but that day never came, and this is actually my biggest issue - and why I think 4 stars is actually too high. We hired him from the beginning, not Joe, and it would have been nice for him to follow up. Getting his final bill told me he didn't care. Many of you are probably wondering why we paid the bill without addressing this, and the answer is simply that it didn't matter. The issues don't affect the overall look, and definitely doesn't affect our lives enough to fight it. Please keep in mind that I am happy with the actual work, Joe well-exceeded our abilities, I'm simply pointing out imperfections. In the end, I would recommend J&H to anyone, with the disclaimer that you need to communicate clearly about what you want and expect.

We were remodeling our master bath and to save us hundreds of dollars we decided to keep our existing vanities and have them painted by J&H Painting to match the new cabinets that were going in. I gave him the door and color of the new cabinets and Heath and his team matched the color and finish perfectly!! They look like completely new cabinets and you would never know that we kept the old. They blend beautifully with the new cabinets. Heath and his team were amazing they had them done so quick and were so pleasant to work with. When we redo our kitchen we will be having J&H Painting refinish our cabinets, after pricing new cabinets having them paint our old cabinets will save us thousands! Our cabinets are all cherry and in great condition and functional so why not just have them painted to the color we are wanting. I have no doubt that they will do a superb job. Heath really is a master at this trade and has other great skills and knowledge and so does his team. They all are very professional and affordable. I've recommended him to several people and I am usually not one to recommend services unless I am really impressed. Best in the Quad Cities as far as I am concerned.

Very happy with our deck staining and protection. The product they use is a penetrating oil rather than a hard sealant. The initial application had some areas that didn't cover as good as other areas, but Heath came out and recovered those areas. The deck looks great and it is obvious that it is well protected.
