We worked with Iowa Home Consulting for our move. Matt was very friendly and easy to work with. The movers showed up in uniforms and were very neat and clean. We had an issue with a dropped safe. They were very quick to offer a replacement and take care of damages done because of the drop. The move took longer than bid. They sent out extra movers at no cost to get the job done.

As part of a collaboration between Iowa Home Consulting, the Iowa Wildlife Center and the Ames Animal Shelter, along with my awesome landlord / realtor Gina McAndrews, I had a catio built in my backyard. This was part of my goal to allow my two beautiful cats safe access to the "outside," and still safely attract and nurture wildlife in my back yard. And it was a resounding success! Over just two days, Matthew and Jason of Iowa Home Consulting built a gorgeous structure, with access from my kitchen window. My cats almost instantly "got it" and have already spent countless hours enjoying the area...as have I, since the structure is large enough for me to join them. This was so important to me, and simply wouldn't have been possible without the considerable time and talent of Iowa Home Consulting. Excellent workmanship in a timely manner; came up with a creative solution to a problem in one corner. Cleanliness was not as high as could be and ended up with a lot of dust on office equipment. I think they will be more conscious of the dust they create in the future.

Last week we moved to Ames from out of state and used Iowa Home Consulting to help unload the moving truck and move our furniture and boxed items into our apartment. Justin and Blake worked hard and efficiently to get all of our contents moved in. The 18-wheeler truck (another company used from the state we moved from) could not come down our street. The truck was too heavy and would have cracked the pavement. Justin and Blake resolved the matter by backing their truck to the 18-wheeler, transferring all the contents to their truck so they could drive it down the road without causing damage. In addition to being problem solvers, they are skilled carpenters and were easily able to assemble furniture. I selected Iowa Home Consulting based on their Google reviews and the courteous conversations I had with Ross. Justin and Blake were polite, friendly, and completed the work in two hours. We will definitely use the Iowa Home Consulting team for all our future moves and handyman needs and recommended them instantly to the Leasing Office of my complex for incoming or exiting residents. I've hired Iowa Home Consulting for so many projects that I've lost track. Most recently it was for work on roof repair, gutter repair, and siding repair, but I've also hired them for painting, interior wall repair, plumbing, deck building, and more. For most jobs I no longer call anyone else because my experience with Iowa Home Consulting has been so uniformly positive. In the next year or two I plan to do a larger remodel and plan to consider them for that job as well. In terms of communication, the owner is always responsive to my e-mails and phone calls, and very easy to work with. I've also always enjoyed interacting with the workers, they are all very competent and easy to work with.

Matthew was very nice and provided us with a quote very quickly. However, when we tried to get in touch with them regarding a start date they kept pushing back the start date and eventually stopped responding to our phone calls and emails asking for a start date. We had to hire someone else.
