Dr. Jacobs is great and very knowledgeable. My entire family and I went to his office. The staff are also very nice and friendly. Things I miss being away from Blacksburg!

Dr. Jacobs treated me for vision headaches related to a concussion. He is exceptionally knowledgeable and even emailed me further research studies and information to help me heal. I drive 1.5 hours each way to see him and I do not mind at all because he has exceptional knowledge related to vision that most typical optometrists do not have. He has my highest recommendation!

I have had many an eye appointment and through the years several pairs of glasses. However, on this visit I decided to get contacts as I was struggling when playing sport. Firstly the online booking system was fast and efficient. I was able to schedule an appointment within minutes. The appointment was scheduled and I was sent reminders and an electric calendar event which is great. Secondly, Dr.Diaz is great at his job, he makes you feel comfortable. He relatable and professional yet still personable. He got my prescription correct and recognized I had issues due to my profession. He also was not trying to rush me out of his office. Next the support staff especially Darlene and Kelly were so helpful. Darlene was assigned the task of helping me insert my contact lenses. I must admit I really struggled and she did her best to comfort me in the 30 minutes I struggled cussed, too my embarrassment. She never once got frustrated and proceeded to inform me of all the things I needed to do, to ensure my eye care. I will continue my business with this office and would happily recommend family, friend and co-workers. Thank you all!

I had a great experience getting an eye exam at Dr. Jacobs' office. The only reason I give 4 stars is that their frames were pretty pricey, but I imagine that's the case at most offices.

Dr. Jacobs has been my optometrist since I moved to Blacksburg in 1992. Recently, my family and I have seen Dr. Diaz. We have had excellent service and advice from both over the years, enncompassing both contact lenses and glasses. We are always welcomed and seen promptly. I just purchased a new pair of glasses, replacing an older pair that had been damaged in 2014. The staff at Dr. Jacobs office repaired the older pair for free, and that repair lasted 4 years! If you want optometrist service from two professionals that also give back to the community, then go see Dr. Jacobs and Dr. Diaz.

A very positive experience. I went in bright and early in the morning after breaking my glasses the night before, the staff was extremely nice and eager to help. They fixed my glasses on the spot and gave my a new case for my glasses for free! Incredible experience and now I know where I'm going to go to for my next pair of glasses.

In one hour Dr. Jacobs managed to do what another local eye doctor hadn't managed in SIX MONTHS -- Send me out of his office with a pair of contacts I can SEE in! Dr. Jacobs is fantastic. Didn't feel at all rushed even though I was there past closing. He takes his time with his patients.

Dr. Steve found out a small retinal detachment when I didn't even have any obvious symptoms. Then I did a simple laser surgery to avoid any vision loss. The eye doctor in Roanoke said it could be a very big problem if no one was able to find it. Many thanks to Dr. Steve about this.

Walked in to have my glasses fixed ( keep in mind these were not purchased there) and the two ladies at the desk were freindly, funny, and fixed my glasses up good as new despite them being quite messed up. Awesome place

I had a miserable experience here. I trusted them with one of my post op appointments after recieving laser eye surgery. ALL POST OP APPOINTMENTS are covered in the cost of the surgery. The company that does the surgery works with the company that does your post ops to make sure you are covered. They refused to see me unless I paid $150 but told me they would refund me because they understood that I should've been covered. They refused to refund my money for months. After many calls with many people who were very unaccommodating and very inconsiderate and not helpful, I got $55 back after almost 4 months of fighting with them and explaining to them that I have basically already paid for the appointment! Come to find out at later post op appointments, they weren’t even thorough with their exam! I can't even tell you why they did that. Everyone I spoke to made no sense. Awful awful experience. It came off as very cheap of them. They essentially ripped me off. If you really care about the customer, you give the refund. That experience would stand out to them and not only would they come back, but they’d tell everyone how accomodating you were. But instead this place is coming off as petty and shady and I would not recommend this place. Disappointment is an understatement.

I had a mixed experience, but will not be returning. I'd first like to say that the providers and their office staff are friendly and personable and I really appreciated that. However, I went here last year for a routine annual exam and ended up with a bad case of acute conjunctivitis shortly thereafter (with some keratitis too). Interestingly enough I did not see the optometrist wash his hands before, during, or after the encounter. I returned here for the problem, and while the other optometrist was kind enough to not charge me for the second visit, it was not managed appropriately. It became much worse, and I saw an ophthalmologist who treated and managed it. I hate to write something negative like this, but this whole ordeal became quite costly for me to deal with over a period of several months (hundreds of dollars). Furthermore I had to cancel travel plans and effectively lost the only 3 weeks I had off during the year.

Great staff. I bought my eyeglasses from an online store and asked Dr. Jacobs' clinic if they could check whether those match with my prescription. They checked my eyeglasses, helped me to adjust them on my face, and gave me good advice for free. I believe that staff there are professional, kind, and very helpful.

Dr. Jacobs is good, but he needs new staff. They were not rude, but not one knows how to look you in the eye when talking and they all act like the most unhappy people I have ever met. Then when I was told my lenses would be ready in 3 to 7 business days(which would have been on a Tuesday) I called them on Thursday(9 business days after my appointment) I was told I did not even get to tell them fully what I was calling about before the lady said "hold on" and switched the phone over not "could you please hold while I get someone that can help you" or " I am sorry could you please hold" JUST "Hold on" and flipped over. RUDE! Then the next lady said "I am sorry it has taken longer than we said I was busy yesterday running the lense cutting machine and the front desk because we were short staffed" Keep in mind my lenses should have been done TUESDAY and they were short staffed Wednesday. I went to ask why they hadn't called yet to inform me that it would be a little longer and she said "Well, you beat me to it, I had planned on calling everyone on Monday to make appointments to have people come in, but I can get you in tomorrow at 10am since you called" So I made the appointment I was 5(FIVE) minutes MAYBE late. And they started cutting lenses for someone that was not even there and said "Well we didn't think you were going to show so we started a different pair" SO I had to wait for 45 min to get my glasses rather than 20 and No I couldn't have left because I can't drive without my glasses and I wasn't walking around aimlessly after it snowed the night before and it was cold out and snow everywhere. So I will NOT be going back there and recommend others do not bother wasting their time here unless you want to deal with RUDE people that don't even have the common sense to give a courtesy call to let people know that they have to wait longer to be able to see again.(Even though they would have already been late when they were "short staffed") Very unhappy with this place. I would rate it lower if I could.

Dr Jacobs is one of the nicest people I have ever met. I was in need of an urgent eye examination due to possible time sensitive health issues and he squeezed me in that day during his lunch break as he was booked out for days. Highly recommend him for any optometrist needs!

I think the doctor is good. I mean he is really professional. Most of his staff are helpful and nice. However, the lady who seems to be in charge of billing turned out to be very rude. Although my insurance does not cover the glasses, I paid off the bill immediately after my vision examination. When I went back to pick up my glasses, this lady asked me "Did you pay the bill? Yes or no." After I said yes, she said she's trusting me that I made the payment. WTF!!!! You are supposed to have the record of my payment! Then, she gave me a Thankyou card. It's just a picture with a paper frame and it's blank. Then, she asked me to read it! It is so f**king weird! Finally, I asked her for the documents of the warranty of my glasses. She told me there is no such thing! I don't know whether it is because she is too lazy to find it for me or just because they have a poor document management. Next time, I would try to find another place.

Dr. Diaz was very professional and was able to find a contact lens prescription that works for me after years of not being able to see well. The office staff was friendly and I only had a short wait for my appointments. The staff also works hard to find all applicable rebates and insurance discounts when ordering lenses.
