Here is my story, please judge it for yourselves: It was over 6pm and I was about to leave for a cruise but one screw was missing on my broken glasses . I hated leaving in such circumstances. So I come to the Shop, it is closed already and inside I see the guy all prepared to leave home. He opens the door, hears my story, lets me in and takes good 10 minutes not only to replace the screw but also to fix the glasses, gives me a new case and wishing me a great vacation, saying he loves to help people. Needless to say he refused to take a penny. Thank you young guy. At least i can tell the story and sure that people will appreciate it and would surely love to do business with you! Best regards Irad BG

Great people, great glasses

There are a number of places to buy decent glasses in Seattle--but Market Optical is by far the best for selection, quality and style. When I go there, I feel like they know exactly what I need when I am unsure. Once I went there wanting some arty glasses I had seen on a film, but they convinced me to purchase another pair that fit my face 10x better than what I thought looked good (which didn't). I need glasses that are both functional and a statement of my profession (consultant) wherein people expect me to be professional, smart and edgy. The glasses at Market Optical communicate the image and professionalism that I want to communicate to my clients. Thx, Market Optical, for finding the most interesting, timeless eye wear that I've ever seen!

I went into Market Optical three times and got three different quotes from three different people on the frames and lenses, started out at $700, then $900 and finally $1400! So I went to Eyes On You on First Avenue and I was more than happy! I got everything I wanted and also the titanium frames were better made than Market Optical titanium frames! So thank you Market Optical for your horrible service! It sent me on down the road to a much better place and I saved $370!

They are great to work with.

Great customer service, terrific selection of frames. Since I live downtown, store access is not a problem for me because I can walk. If I had to drive, I'd go to the one in U Village.

I just had my glasses repaired at M.O. by the resident specialist, who took only minutes and didn't charge anything although I offered to pay.

As an optician myself awesome store in regards to unique selection if that's all your looking for. Im not one for reviews myself u unless a place is particularly outstanding or horrific, in this case the latter. I understand each office/optical wanting to keep exclusivity with the brand they carry in such a competitive market but the way the staff treated me was don't right disgusting. They kept notifying everyone (as in the other staff)I was an optician (from Austin) myself which at that point treated me as a threat? I heard that one of the staff members but(a elder male with white hair) offer a customer behind me the opportunity to take a selfie very encouragingly commenting on how it's the most recent trend. When I pulled my phone out with no intention of taking a selfie but actually wanting to calculate if how much of a discount I could possiblly get especially in a market place environment (it doesn't hurt to ask right) on a $595 pair of frames. I understand to most that seems extreme, but I also work with very unique independent lines in my office. Anyways the same staff member I described earlier proceeded to tell me they don't allow photos. I found this very off putting since I heard him just suggest another customer to take a selfie literally behind me. I asked him why he would recommend for them to take a picture but say the exact opposite to me. He then proceeds to tell me that the other patrons have the intention of buying glasses and I do not. When I say I do he blamtly says to me no I don't. I'm not a pacifist and I call him out on his pretentious attitude. 1) even though my profession is with eyewear I have allot of respect for other business and also am in the process of creating an eyewear blog to promote local business versus supporting huge monopolies such as luxottica/ranban. 2) I'm on vacation and as not only and optician but as an eyewear collector myself I love to explore different brand off the clock. All in all to give a fair review awesome selection for uniqueness, but I personally don't want to support people who gentrify you because of your age or are only friendly in the intent of a secured sale. Until that guy opened his ignorant mouth I was willing to make a purchase for an awesome frame as a memoir to my trip to Seattle. Now I'm going to take my time and money elseware. Hopefully I get a Selena/pretty women moment. BYE MARKET OPTICAL IN PIKE PLACE MARKET SEATTLE WASHINGTON.

Some other reviews stated before but today I saw it first hand, the staff seems to cool for customers ....

Used to buy our glasses here many years ago when we lived in the area. Had great customer service and bought many frames. We were visiting this weekend from Oregon and had intention of buying frames and taking them back to Oregon. The two working the shop didn’t bother to say hi, or stand-up or even pull their faces from their phones. Unreal and unfortunate. We visited on Saturday, 8/24 at 5:40pm. I hope the manager does something about this very poor customer service.
