Not only do I use them for my annual exams, contacts/eye-wear, but also any and all eye related medical care. Being 72 years old, I have dealt with a lot of professionals in my time...and a lot if eye Doctors. I moved to Maryville and Googled Eye Drs. BCEC SEEMED TO HAVE THE BEST RATINGS. Now I know why. I have never dealt with a more professional, friendly, caring organization. Dr. Lloyd Tantum is a great physician. He is a smart, kind, and takes the time to really explain everything concerning your condition to you. This is a world class provider right here in Maryville. We are lucky to have this calibre of eye care in a small town. I have already recommended them to some friends in Lenoir City and made an appointment for my wife. I had put off having a comprehensive eye exam for the first 31 years of my life but decided to go make sure there were no hidden issues since my vision insurance would cover it. Dr. Cassie and the staff did a great job making me comfortable with all the (new to me) tests and explaining the results. Thankfully it turned out I had no underlying issues and no immediate need for vision correction; however, when I get to that stage in my vision, I know where I'll be heading.

Go to Blount County Eye Center!! All of the Dr's and staff there are very knowledgeable and they have the most up to date technology and equipment! The optical shop has the largest selection of glasses and a wide range of prices so that you can easily afford the right style for you. The Optical Shop also as the best employees that will help you select what looks best for your face shape and style. I would opt for a retinal photo at your visit so that dilation may not be needed. It is very affordable as well and your day won't be disrupted by having your eyes dilated. I hope this helped with making your mind up to go to BCEC. Have a great day!

My children's exams are enjoyable without resistance from them because the staff is patient and explains everything that will be done. Optical and front desk staff are always friendly and helpful and go above what is expected. Every visit to BCEC has been successful. Told us there was a 10 DAY GUARANTEE to order and cut glasses... Then when they are over the 10 days they don't do anything but they really just focus on really having them on time. The 10 days guarantee is not a big deal but rather chasing them down to find out what was going on was... Still wish them the best of luck... btw drop the word GUARANTEE is there is no meaning behind it.

I enjoy using this office for routine eye examinations. They do not, however, accommodate you if you come down with an infection and need to be seen. I called today for an appointment due to suspected eye infection and I was told the earliest they could see me was Friday-2 days from now. I cannot go two days before being seen. I called my former eye dr and was told if it’s a suspected infection they will see you that day. I was able to obtain treatment by a physician I was no longer a patient of because my actual dr couldn’t see me. This is not the first time. My daughter called them about two months ago for suspected pink eye but they couldn’t see her that day. She, too, went to our former eye dr for treatment. Needless to say our former eye dr is once again our current eye dr. How do you make someone wait days who has an infection? Maybe this office should hold some appointments daily for these situations? If they aren’t used it would just give you some time to get back on schedule? Great doctors, great facility, great staff but the lack of empathy and urgency leaves them with a single star.

Was referred to this place by a church friend who knows the difficulties we have with our 9-year-old Downs/Autistic daughter. Just the atmosphere alone is clean, calming and comfortable. Then when you add the top-quality customer service, the availability of products, and the efficiency of care, there is no question that this Eye Center is one of the best there is! Very thankful for BCEC!

Whenever you plan to visit any place of this sort, you carry some sort your personal issue, like some disease or not seeing properly or need to get eye sights checked for any problems, however when you visit BCEC , it is a different game the moment you step in those glass doors ,I couldn't love my visit to this place more , You enter the office of BCEC and you are greeted by few humble and very well mannered ladies, and while speaking to them, they will treat you as their own family member, listens to you very carefully and directs you to the right person with their help offered as well. Going to check your eyesight, you will again find few angels , who are there to help you until you are satisfied, they will do any thing in their capacity to make you feel very satisfied before you leave their work stations. This staff is the best I have ever seen, I have traveled all over the world but didn't see such courtesies and customer services any where. But this is not it , when you end up seeing the Doctors, they treat you like very very special and doesn't leave the room until you are totally satisfied with your questions and queries about you or your family. I recently visited BCEC and requested to see the doctor who checked my son a day earlier when I wasn't there but my wife was, Doctor felt the urge and came out right away and took me to the office spoke to me and explained to me what I wanted to know until I was totally satisfied and that was not it , I was also given the reading material to read for more awareness. Staff also feel for you , like Michelle , she felt that I was very worried , she left her work station and ran to get the doctor for me, other staff is as good as any one else for instance Kaitlin, she would greet you when you walk in and will go over and above to assist you beyond her job duties. You meet Island , and she would never make you feel that you are a patient or stranger, she would treat you very very special and will never leave any stone unturn to make sure that the customer in BCEC is fully satisfied, Then when your glasses are made, you get to meet another staff member like Amanda, she is awesome and will not let you leave the desk until the glasses that you ordered doesn't fully sit on your face and makes you feel very comfortable . This Staff and others that I didn't get to meet is the asset to BCEC. I wish you all the best and urge to the whole community around to visit BCEC and you will forget your problems they way you will be treated. Stay Blessed BCEC.

I LOVE Blount County Eye Center and have been a patient there for three years. The staff are all super friendly and helpful! Their new facility has the latest and greatest tools and technology in eye care and they truly take great care of your eyes. Their prices are also very affordable! They also have a HUGE selection of eyewear, including sunglasses, they play Christian music, they do a lot of mission work, and the new building is a really cool atmosphere. It is a great and unique experience and you don't even feel like you are at the eye doctor! Wait time is usually minimal too! Lastly, they have one of the only pediatric eye doctors around, and I went to college with her. She is great with kids and I have personally taken my own two year old son there for an eye exam. I would recommend this place to anyone any age!

Y'all I have to share with you just how much I now love Blount Eye Center! They are incredible. I had been going to my eye doctor now for 30 years and never really had a complaint. She recently closed her office, so I decided to try someone new. WOW! I've been missing out lol :-) You can really tell when you walk in that you're welcome there. My doctor was really friendly and he had a good sense of humor which I appreciated. They have about 10,000 pairs of glasses to choose from too which was a lot different than my old eye doctor's office. Prices seemed very fair to me too. Staff working with the eyeglasses was phenomenal and I even got a little chocolate when I picked up my glasses last week! If you need an eye doctor, please go here and "see" what I'm talking about :-)

I went to BCEC for the first time last month and am so glad I chose to switch eye care centers. I've been wearing glasses & contacts since I was 12, and thought all those years my astigmatism was really bad. For the first time an optometrist said "lets see if switching to a toric lense really helps you see"...guess what...it didn't! I'm just really near sited. Toric contact lenses cost double than normal lenses... for 20 years I've been paying for something I don't really need. I see just as well in my new contacts without astigmatism correction. So thankful for these guys!

Don't let the interior fool you. Poor quality lenses. I'm a traveling nurse....had to move on. Could not see out of my new lenses. Went to a different Dr.....got the right script. Ordered prescription lenses for sunglasses. Can't tell you how many times that failed. Still have those. I would strongly recommend going some place else.

This was my first experience with a civilian optometrist. Dr. T's staff was great. They were able to get me scheduled for an appointment same day, ran a full battery of tests (Took pictures of my retina's, tested me for MD, ran me through the "WTF letter is that" game.) Also Dr. T gave me some valuable information on taking care of my eyes in regards to my diet and vitamin intake. I thought it was fairly inexpensive for the type of service that I received. One of the tests was $25 and one was $15. I do not remember which was which. Sorry.

I will not be a repeat customer and will not recommend this place. The ladies at the front are very nice and great, the Dr was great, but the manager over optical is very rude, an attitude and could care less if ur a customer or not. They told me the day I came that I wouldn't have to pay for my contact fitting and I asked before I said yes. She said ur insurance covers both at no cost. Now I go back to see what's best to use my insurance toward contacts or glasses and she says well if u dont use it toward contacts then ull owe $82 for the fitting. I said no mam I was told that was covered by my insurance. She said the techs really dont know how to read that stuff. I said and that's my fault? I'm the patient, I'm asking u all what I'll be charged for and I go by that. She said well its ur insurance not mine. I said well I'm not paying for anything and asked for my prescriptions back and let her know I'll go elsewhere.

Several issues occurred with BCEC. I purchased 2 pairs of glasses - 1 safety and 1 personal. Issue 1) While at BCEC Joe forgot to charge me the full amount for my safety glasses, resulting in me paying (on a separate trip) even more than the $280.80 (after 40% discount) I had just spent. 2) While trying to make arrangements to make this second payment I was left on hold for 17 minutes, then told I would be called back, but never was. I called BCEC again, was told I would be contacted the next day, and never was. 3) While picking up my glasses everything seemed fine. However, while wearing my safety glasses on the job, I got in trouble in a safety audit for not having side sheilds. Upon calling BCEC I was informed by Laura that she FORGOT to give them to me. When I asked how this wrong could be corrected (besides picking up the shields she forgot) I was rudely told that glasses are a medical device and no refund/reimbursement is possible that there is nothing that could be done. After being humiliated and documented at work, and dealing with the stress of this issue, I received a call stating the owner of BCEC would write a note stating they forgot to give me my side shields to give to my manager and provide me with a Starbucks gift card. So, if you like paying lots of money, being stressed out, and being schmoozed over with coffee, then by all means, visit BCEC. Otherwise, I highly suggest visiting elsewhere.

I've been a patient of Dr. Lloyd Tantum for several years and have nothing but good things to say about him. I'm sorry he's scaling back his hours, but he deserves it! My son also goes to BCEC and sees one of the other doctors there. Dr. Lloyd is just a good person and it appears the Center has recruited other physicians who have the same heart as he does. So glad we have them in Blount County!!

I was very pleased with my experience at BCEC very kind and informative doctors that gave options to the eye test and were very thorough since it was my first visit to an eye doctor in quite some time. they were very clear and informative about my prescription and helped me with my breakdown of costs and what my insurance would cover. They also told me it would taka 12 day for my glasses to be prepared by. I told them that I was leaving on a trip and were able to get my glasses done the 5 days early. Very helpful and kind group of individuals. Would recommend to any.

Before I start this, I just want to say that Dr. Llyod Tantum is great. This review pains me to write bc I really do think he is wonderful. The fact that I have to go find another eye Dr makes makes me mad, all because the office staff can't seem to get their stuff together. Long story short (not really), I had an eye infection a year ago. 1 month ago they sent me the first bill for over $500 and said if not heard from in 10 days it was going to collections. I called, told them I never received a first bill they apologized and swore it wouldnt be sent to collections. I had some questions about the insurance it was billed to, so they gave their work from home billing person my number and she called me. She was excellent and got some of the charges off my bill that I didn't agree with. She apologized about the delay in billing and said that they had switched systems and there were a lot of bills that didn't go out due to an office person, who has since been dismissed, just not sending the bills (I believe she said over $70,000 worth of bills) She said that it was a mistake that it said it would be sent to collections and assured me they had no intentions of anything going to collections. I called the office once my bill was adjusted and said I would like to pay with my hsa account, but my husband switched jobs and we were confused about the new account. They said yes no problem. About a week later I got a bill showing my new charges with no due by date. Meanwhile I'm still waiting on my HSA account to get get set up. Next thing I know I was sent to collections. I called them on Monday spoke with a really nice lady that profusely thanked me for my patience and she didn't know how I was being so calm (it wasn't easy!) and said it was a mistake (again! 3rd person admitting fault!) She said it hadn't even been a month since charges were change and they were working with me and she doesn't know why they would have sent it to collections, but she had to talk to the office manager to figure it out. She said someone would call back Monday or Tuesday. It's now Wednesday, I called them back. They took my name and number again and said someone would call me back. I decided to go ahead and call the collection company who said the office called them and told them they informed me that I HAD to deal with them (not true.. Still waiting on a call back from the office). So I go a head and make payment arrangements with the collection agency. I then call up Blount county eye clinic again and as soon as I give my name the woman at the front desk, Shykea, who says you have to call the collection agency and HUNG UP on me! Called back and a different person answers who also hangs up on me as soon as give my name. Now 3 different people have confirmed this issue is the clinics fault and they have the NERVE to hang up on me without helping me understand what in Earth happened?! No no no. Avoid this fancy place and their over priced visits at all costs! I can't be the only one this is happening to! If this has happened to you pls comment and send me a PM! UPDATE: went to the office yesterday, was assured by Rachel they don't report to Credit bureau. *we will see* seeing as everything that pretty much told me since I got this bill has been a lie I'm not holding my breath!

i went to other eye doctors in maryville for years growing up. and for years and years i was told that i couldn't wear contacts because of my prescription. then i went to dr. tantum and guess what...he put me in contacts and i'm never going anywhere else!! he took the time to explain everything to me and his staff was EXTREMELY helpful teaching me how to put in my contacts! i'll be sending my friends and family here for years now. if i had to say one negative thing, the parking lot is a little hard to get in/out of when the traffic is busy.

I had an emergency situation with my eye. I had never used this facility prior. They saw me almost immediately...then 2 follow up visits the same week. I can't imagine any friendlier staff and Dr. Cassie Bruno was absolutely the best - THANK YOU !!! (If I could give 10 stars I would)

I will begin by saying my eye exam was everything you would expect. This is the only reason I gave 2 stars. The Dr was very nice. But you can get an eye exam at Walmart. When the exam was finished I was sent back out to the waiting area and was put in front of a clerk of some kind who was only interested in my paying for the exam. I asked about getting glasses...go figure...I was told the frames were around the wall, and are all MIXED between men's and women's. Go look. I asked if there were prices and I was told to look on the lens. My experience at any eyeglass store, is that they usually provide assistance finding frames or, at the very least, OFFER assistance. In what world do you mix up all the frames and then provide no assistance to the customer? Someone from HR came out to speak with me. I tried to tell her what happened as "constructive criticism" and she was unwilling to see it as that. She took my comments as a complaint, she told me she could resolve the problem by setting ANOTHER appointment to have someone show me the available frames. That's what I was already there for!! Why would I need ANOTHER appointment? Waste of my time. I told her I would not be purchasing anything, I would not be back and I will not speak well of the business.
