I had all kinds of problems with Dr. Holloway. Had to go back 3 to 4 times to get my prescription right. Put eye plugs in checked with my insurance to see what my out of pocket cost would be $40.00 I paid it Then sent me a bill for $60.00 now sent me to Express Collections for $22.70 If you value your time and money stay away!!!!!! Had a mix up with appointments but, they still seen us. Tamar was super nice and very sweet and explained everything to us she could totally tell we were lost lol! Looking for a reasonable price cheaper than Walmart come here and you can call ahead of time and get information they are super helpful and cheerful.

Yep, all that about customer service is true. I've tried LensCrafters, I've tried Sioux Falls and its been a nightmare. My first optometrist visit (1987) was here at Pillen and I'll be coming back for the foreseeable future.

Jake and his crew do a super job! Our family has been going to Pillen Optical for the last 30 plus years. It was worth the drive from Sundance Wy for my parents and it is worth the drive for my family who lives in Spearfish, SD. Highly recommend Pillen Optical for all of your eye wear needs.

I would give this negative stars if possible. Let me preface by saying the front desk people are kind, this is solely off of so many mistakes and misquotes it's not even funny. Firstly, I made my appointment with Daniel Holloway, not his wife (they both work there). When I arrived, they gave me her instead of him. Not really thinking it to be a huge deal (although it was strange as I made it with him), I went ahead with it. Frankly I didn't find her to be that personable, but as long as the job was done properly I went with it. Upon leaving, I was informed I had to pay a $20 fee to even get my trial contacts. What?! I have never, in my 25 years of having lenses and multiple eye doctors, experienced this. They say it will go toward your contacts purchase, so basically, they are trying to force you to go through them to order. It's a non-refundable fee, no fee, no trial contacts. They also wont' release your prescription without the fee. By the way, they did mail me my prescription, and they didn't pay postage, so the post man made us pay the small handling fee! Well, after I got the trials and determined them to be fine, I called Pillen to get a quote on their lense rates. They were actually really great, but I still wanted to look online. After determining I could not beat Pillen's price, I called them to order, only to be quoted OVER A HUNDRED DOLLARS MORE than I had just been quoted. I told them so, and they said there was nothing they could do. Fine. I decided to order online. However, I noticed my prescription seemed weird....so weird I couldn't get ANY online website to even offer what I needed. I called one of the websites who told me, this prescription seems weird, you need to check it's accuracy with your optometrist. I called Pillen. They wrote me the WRONG PRESCRIPTION. This could have damaged my eyes had I ordered what they initially wrote me, and then I also would have been out a lot of money on a wrong prescription. They have since sent me the corrected prescription, and I ordered my contacts from another provider. All of this to say, this was SO MANY THINGS THAT WENT WRONG, and they never offered me a thing for quoting me wrong prices, giving me the wrong doctor, AND writing me the wrong prescription. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

I ordered 2 pair of glasses from them, one was sunglasses the other was clear. They called me and said my glasses were ready. Drove a hundred miles to pick them up and the clear glasses were in the wrong frame and the sunglasses wasn't in yet. Bad idea to go here unless you have patience and live in city limits.

appeared to be short on employees. check out person seemed confused on the computer system. did not review available options for eyeglass lenses. on the plus side great selection of frames. Pleased with eye exam. Their new location is very nice. Just need to be more organized and more help at front desk.

The staff where polite and helpful. The issue is I had my initial appointment with them scheduled for 130 in the afternoon. I didn't see the doctor until two. I can understand five or ten minutes but 30 not at all. My second appointment was scheduled at 115 in the afternoon and I didn't see the doctor until 215. That is a little ridiculous. What is the point of scheduling appointment then. My next complaint is I ordered contacts from them and they told me 7 to 10 business days. I am sitting at 14 business days and still have not received my contacts. I call them and they say they haven't came in and can't tell me where there at.

I have had good experience in past but this time it took weeks to get glasses and when a nose pad broke in less than a month they wanted 5 dollars to fix it. Got a second pair in town at another store and got same day service.

First time here. Nailed my prescription, picked up two pair of glasses. Place is easy parking and spacious inside and they are pretty quick with walk ins I may have found my new eye doctor plus they fill prescriptions up to two years old. I abandoned my last one after they said I need a new prescription once a year

I recently had an eye appointment at Pillen Optical and also purchased contacts and glasses through them. I really like Dr. Holloway; he is meticulous and polite. However, the poor customer service I received from another member of the staff rivaled the doctor's great service. During three interactions with this person, their attitude ranged from curt to outright rude. I guess they couldn't be bothered to help, much less be polite. On my third visit, to get a slight adjustment to my glasses, this person effectively refused to do the adjustment, saying "It looks fine to me." I immediately left. I don't think I'll be back as long as they are there.
