Absolutely love this store, not only because of the great selection of European frames but also because the staff was incredibly helpful. They immediately asked if they could help, and unlike most store staff, they were genuinely above-and-beyond helpful, picking out a range of frames from around the store eight particular likes and budget in mind. No hard sell either - just honest and respectful feedback. I will trek down here from the Boston area any time I can justify new glasses. .

I just wanted to let you know about the horrendous service I received at Gregory’s Optical. After I returned to them with a new prescription after the first ones were wrong, Gregory (the father), seemed very angry that the first prescriptions were not working for me. It happens! When I went back to pick up my glasses with the new prescriptions they were fine so, I left my old frames, which I love, to have the new prescription put in them as well. When I got the call today that the glasses "were ready", I went in and he told me he had in fact broken my old frames and made new glasses and he handed them to me. No apology. No option to choose a new frame. He just handed me glasses. I was in shock and asked if the frames could be fixed. “No”, he told me. “Pick something out and I never want to see you again”, he told me. Each frame I chose, he told me it was too expensive. He finally handed me a frame I could live with. I said “yes, I’ll take those.” I handed them back to him to have my new prescription put in and he said he was not going to put the new lenses in, that I should go somewhere else and he never wanted to see me again! What?! I said nothing and walked out. I’ve never been treated this way. Now I need somewhere to put the new prescription in these subpar frames he gave me that I was willing to go with just to get this situation over with. Shockingly unfair.

I broke my only pair of glasses the day before leaving the country and this was the only area store that would make me new glasses with my strong prescription. They were super helpful, friendly, and accommodating, and definitely did not overcharge me despite my vulnerable situation. Plus they have a winning name! Quick note: call to see if they're open as Google sometimes mistakenly marks them as closed.

I've shopped at Gregory's Optical for well over a decade. It's a lovely eyewear boutique owned by a Russian-American husband and wife team who service a broad spectrum of discerning clientele, myself included. First off, their expertise and professionalism is top notch all the way. They know their products well and are quite attuned to the tastes of their clientele. Gregory is highly professional with a direct no-nonsense attitude -- he tells it like it is, which I greally appreciate and have now for many years. Second, their goods and services are exceptional. They epitomize customer service above and beyond. Gregory gets my progressive prescriptions right 100% always, including placement on the lenses. I request more reading space at the lens bottom and Gregory nails it every single time. This is significantly important, as some opticians don't ... and they still charge you. Gregory's Optical is an honest, hardworking business and don't push clients to buy -- you wont find hard sell tactics here. They dont hype their products -- they don't need to as the quality speaks for itself. Their eyewear products hail from around the globe. Many, if not most, are handmade with top quality materials. And their selection? Wow, it's awesome. I imagine there's something here for most price points. When you shop here, you get the best of what's available in the market today. What you won't find here are frames with UK or Scandinavian designs (or, anywhere else, for this matter) manufactured in China of unknown materials. Third, their pricing is unbeatable. You will find designer eyewear frames (within the world of eyewear brands, not fashion apparel brands) here handmade in France, priced less than frames made of unknown materials in a sweatshop factory in China sold ubiquitously at national chain optical centers typically found in malls. It's not uncommon to assume boutique pricing will cost more, but, this does not apply at Gregory''s Optical. Fourth, the care and service after purchase is absolutely outstanding. Gregory's takes care of their clients. Heck, Gregory takes care of walk-ins off the street, time permitting. Unfortunately, another reviewer marred Gregory's Optical rating here -- a walk-in off the street who spoke very little English and was obviously a foreigner. I asked Gregory about this review and he explained what happened. This guy rushed in frantic. The boutique had a long line. This guy cut in front of waiting clients and handed Gregory a note, of which made no sense. So, Gregory explained he couldn't help him immediately, returned the note and said he didn't understand. The guy grabbed his note and literally ran out. Gregory didn't think much of it until the review posted. Had the guy returned, knowing what I know of this business, Gregory would have tried to help. People come in and wait their turns, unlike this guy. At any rate, I know these things from repeated first-hand experience spanning several years and share them here, because like you -- I too read reviews and use them to weed out the riff raff, of which you also won't find at Gregory's Optical. If you want the best expertise, service, quality goods and pricing in designer eyewear, make Gregory's Optical your destination.

I have bought 2 pairs of glasses from Gregory's Opticals. Both experiences have been perfect. The first, a special edition pair of Oliver Peoples which were impossible to find and were at a ridiculously good price. (I had seen the same pair selling for double in NYC). I loved the frames but wasn't happy about the color of the lenses, they found be a better color and replaced them for free. I then purchased a pair of Warby Parkers online and was unhappy with them. After 6 months of headaches I visited Gregory's to find a new pair of prescription glasses. I was directed toward Schnuchel, a charming German brand. My prescription glasses are amazing, the staff helped me pick out the perfect frame. I was given frank advice on color and style and was very happy with my choice. After calling to confirm my prescription the lenses were done and installed the next business day (48 hour turn around, can you believe it!?) They provided a lovely carrying case, wipes and cleaning solution as a thank you for the purchase and adjusted them to perfection on pick up. Again the price was better than I could have gotten elsewhere. I will only get my glasses at Gregory's Opticals in the future.

The level and quality of service at Gregory's was truly superb. I went in on a Saturday afternoon and explained what types of glasses I usually buy. The woman working at the shop picked out several different options and helped me figure out which shape and size would work best on my face, fit properly on the bridge of my nose, and would accommodate the very thick lenses I need in my frames. She also suggested some interesting colors and shapes that I wouldn't have picked for myself (but I ended up really loving). Gregory took some measurements to determine how the frames I selected would fit on my face, including my pupillary distance (which was surprisingly very different from what was suggested from phone apps and online tools). He also very clearly explained what my options were for different types of lenses and my glasses were ready for pick up by Wednesday afternoon. Super high quality frames and lenses, knowledgeable and helpful service (but not pushy) at Gregory's. If you are entertaining the idea of buying glasses online (like I was), do yourself a favor and check out Gregory's instead. The glasses I got here are beautiful and my vision is so crisp and clean, they are definitely the nicest glasses I have ever owned.

This place is a true gem. I like the fact that the shop is compact and everything is on display. I can look through all they have and choose exactly what I like. The owner Gregory and his son Michael are very professional - they have been in this business for decades and they love what they do. I got my favorite pair of glasses from them, and the formula of Reasonable price + High quality was the best at their shop. Whenever I need any adjustments to my glasses I could stop by any time, and they would be fixed in 10 minutes. Everything I have ordered from this shop was done on time, usually very fast, and the job was very well done. I will definitely come back to Gregory's Optical and have already recommended them to lots of my friends.

Gregory's Optical timely helped us by replacing lens into a new frame within 30 minutes. The service was friendly, courteous, efficient and fast. I would encourage everyone to leave the corporate eye places and return to the craftmen who know how to provide excellent service with an eye toward satisfaction and not profit!

Bad attitude in the first place. I was asked to grab and put bad sunglasses by myself with a commanding tone. They began to treat me even worse when I did not want to buy the glasses on the spot. Horrendous experience...

I purchased my latest pair of glasses from Gregory's Optical, after unsuccessfully searching other (big box, independent, discount club) shops for weeks, looking for the perfect combination of quality, service and selection. I made the nearly one hour trip from where I live in southern RI to this family owned and operated shop on Wickenden St., based on recommendations from two friends. ...and I couldn't be happier. First, Dora helped me to find just the right frames. No easy task, since their selection of fine eyewear is extensive! From the wide variety of global designers, I ultimately chose an Italian design, which is very classic, yet unique. I am complimented so often for these glasses I sometimes don't want to tell where I got them! ;) I purchased the highest tier of lens from the reasonably priced selection. It took about 5 days for them to be complete. I wear progressives, and I can honestly say these lenses are the best I've ever had. Gregory and Michael fabricate them in their onsite lab, which makes all the difference. Soon after purchasing my glasses, I damaged them. Michael fixed them for me at no charge. That, my friends, is called excellent customer service. I can't recommend Gregory's Optical highly enough. I won't ever go anywhere else again.
