I was nervous because of the reviews I had read, but it was the closest place that carries special need glasses. I needed them for my son. Everyone there was nice and friendly. I'm so glad I didn't rely only on the reviews. Thank you USA Optical!

I left this place with a bag full of contact lenses. Noticing that they hadn’t marked the boxes to identify the left and right lenses I asked them to mark the boxes and they told me they won’t do that. Even though the boxes have nice little R & L checkboxes printed right on them. Even though I told the doctor during my exam that last year they didn’t mark the boxes and she made a note of the issue and she said “they’re supposed to do that, but I’ll make a note of it”. They said they couldn’t alter the boxes because they couldn’t return them. I reluctantly left once I realized that since I had already paid they didn’t care and I had no recourse. That’s when I realized that I’d have to alter the box to get the contacts out and since it’s a new Rx they might not be right so I went back in and they told me opening the box did count as altering it and they couldn’t be returned once the box was altered. No matter what happens the box is going to be altered if the product is to be used. It’s inescapable. The box must be altered. Why can’t they mark the left or right checkbox that’s printed right on the box? The box that’s designed specifically to be written on to distinguish the left from the right lenses. As a solution they gave me a sandwich bag written on with a Sharpie as the sole means of identifying which lens goes in which eye. It’s actually insulting that they’re simply too busy to properly label and distribute controlled medical devices. It’s a good thing they don’t do dialysis. This place is simply too self involved and clearly too good to stoop as low as using an ink pen. Don’t go to this place if you are interested in any after sales service.

As other reviews have stated the Doctor that I saw was great. I thought the staff on the eyeglass side was also very nice at first just maybe a little pushy. I picked out my glasses and was also going to purchase contact lenses. My total order would have been over $600 with insurance! I told them to take off the contact lenses and I would just get my glasses which were still almost $300. I couldn't figure out why they were so much more this time. The lady that was helping me was a very fast talker and just kept telling me how much money she was saving me never really giving me a straight answer. I really needed the glasses so I went ahead with the order. My second issue started when my glasses actually came in. When I went to pick them up I immediately noticed that my peripheral vision was very blurry and almost making me dizzy. I had a "fishbowl" effect. l thought it was just because my prescription changed so I would need time to allow my eyes to adjust. However, the next day it was not any better, almost worse and when I went outside in the sun ( i had picked my glasses up in the evening) I realized they had given me transition lenses. I did not order transition lenses, in fact I can't stand them so I know I would never have agreed to order them. I called in and was told to bring them in. The lady that helped me was very nice and apologized for the mix up. ( I recognized her from when it was Allegheny) She figured out why I was getting the fishbowl effect and immediately placed an order for a new pair. She also told me I would get a refund on the cost of the transition lenses but that it would take a few weeks. Apparently the manager is who took my order and she would need to sign off and contact me with the exact amount of my refund. I never heard from her nor have I received my refund. I have called several times and was told a manager would call me but again, no call back and no refund. Very disappointed. I never had a problem when it was Allegheny Optical. Unfortunately, this was my first experience with MyEyeDr and it will probably be my last.

I have been here twice for eye exams, glasses, and contacts. The first time i bought glasses and contacts together. My eye insurance only covered one or the other so I knew I'd pay out of pocket, and I asked the lady at the glasses counter to help me figure out which would be cheaper. She talked really fast and told me she was saving me a lot of money and at the end of the day, I thought I was gonna pay around $150 and ended up paying closer to $250 and the whole process wasn't very transparent but I got what I needed. So this time through, I was very careful to listen to the sales lady at the glasses and contacts counter. She looked up my info and acted surprised and said "well this is odd, but it's actually cheaper for you to get a years worth of contacts than it is to get six months worth, and I've managed to get you a rebate. Here's your bill for $110. I said wait, my insurance covers contacts. I should just have a copay. She embarked on a long winded explanation of all the money she was saving me. In the end, she was claiming she had saved me $30 off the contacts by ordering a years worth. I insisted on sticking with the $130 worth that my insurance covered, which was a 6 month supply by myeyedr's calculation, and I walked out with the exam and the contacts with only a $10 copay. I'm not sure if the sales people are on commission or just gypsies from way back, but they are extremely sneaky, great actors, and will quickly pull the wool over your eyes and fleece you pretty good. The doctors I've met with have both been polite and thorough, though, and my prescriptions have been correct and restored my awful near sightedness to better than 20\20 with my lenses in. So I left a couple stars because of the mixed experience. Just beware the sales ladies the doctor turns you over to. Know your coverage and insist on adhering to it.

My family has gone here for quite a few years, but after the experience we had with my husband's glasses, we will NEVER use My Eye Dr. (USA Optical) again. My husband went to his annual appointment and during his checkup, the eye doctor told him he should consider having bifocals. This was extremely important, given the work that he does on a daily basis and the issues he was having being able to do that work due to his vision. After his appointment, he was turned over to the person who was supposed to help him select the frames and then put in the order for his glasses. Either the doctor didn't tell this person that he needed bifocals, or this person overlooked it, but when the glasses came in, they did not have any bifocals in them. He immediately complained (for obvious reasons), but they told him that it was HIS fault because he should have told this person what they needed to order. Honestly, this is the most absurd thing I have ever heard. How on earth is he supposed to tell THEM what prescription he needs? Correct me if I'm wrong, but the whole point of going to an eye doctor is so that they can figure out what prescription you need. Otherwise, he would do it himself. Because this specific location was not willing to resolve the issue, he contacted their corporate office. It took many phone calls over a period of two weeks to actually reach anyone. If you call the corporate number it goes straight to voicemail (no matter what hour of the day you call). When he finally did talk to someone, we learned that there really is no corporate office, and that these people just work willy nilly from undisclosed locations returning unanswered phone calls whenever they feel like it. So the "corporate office" (ahem), said they cannot do anything because the individual businesses make those decisions. It's clear that this company is not willing to rectify their own mistakes. I can't help but wonder how many prescriptions they have gotten incorrect in the past and if their clients are even aware that they have been given the wrong prescriptions (given their obvious lack of communication from within). My Eye Dr. (U.S.A. Optical) has me seeing red!

Ashley LaRicci

No problems here.

John Skaggs

1st the doctor there is Great. the issue was with the glasses. took them back because they were way too strong. I was told that due to the prescription was stronger that I had to get used to them. took them back a 2nd time and found that the prescription was somehow doubled and a new pair was ordered. took the 2nd pair back (3rd trip back) and was told that i had 20/30 vision and that the Doctor had to make my vision conform to 20/20 so that's why I was having issues. but after seeing the Dr. again (3rd time) a new set was ordered. They are usable but still not correct. Again, the eye Dr.is and was great but with all the issues, I won't be back again. I have used this location for 10 years and have had no issues until now

Too long to wait (45 minutes) This place intentionally overbooks appointments and/or discriminates against Medicare clients. I sat in their office for 45 min. waiting to see Dr. Hoover - for the second time. No more, going to find another optometrist.

Shawn

The ophthalmologist was very good but everyone else, not so much. I was second in line for my eye appointment and the receptionist tried to bump her friend up ahead of me, thankfully the ophthalmologist put a kibosh on that. I had already been waiting forty minutes passed my appointment time. The receptionist got my last name, insurance information, and my date of birth incorrect; which lead to further troubles. The staff, at least the ones I dealt with, did not seem very professional or knowledgeable. In the past when I have ordered glasses for my family, the glasses, on average, came in two weeks late. On multiple occasions this occurred and every time ordering I never got a courtesy call from MyEyeDr to let me know the glasses were in.

Shawn Huff

If I could put zero star's I would had appt for 2:45 and I left at 3:45 Bc they still had call me back. They over charge for everything. Never will I go there again. Also my husband and I got glass about year ago. And was charged 1000.00 and we use our own frames. We didn't have insurance and are on a fix income. But when you told you need glasses what do you do. Never again will i come there again.

Chris Brewster

They sold me a pair of glasses that fell apart in the first couple of months made me use my warranty to fix them and then said I couldn’t buy a warranty for the new pair. I asked the manager if the new ones where to fall apart he said I would have to pay out of pocket for a new pair. Very poor customer service.

Sara Smith

Dan Ostrowski

Horrible customer service. Walked in - all 3 ladies were busy, I asked if there was anyone else, she said no, but I would be next. I waited about 15 minutes looking at frames - I heard a "can I help you?" I turned around, and a guy was just walking in the door and being helped. I said to the lady "Excuse me, but I have been in here waiting already for 15 minutes" I was told, "we'll get you later, don't worry" and she turned her back on me to help the new guy. I got a copy of my prescription and walked out.

Teresa Fitzwater

Always Always Always sit in waiting room more than 45 minutes. This has to change or i will not be back.

And

I have been a long time customer to this location. Even after the location was updated to My Eye Dr. I haven't had any issues with the staff. Dr. Koski has been the best Optometrist I have ever seen.

Several months ago i had called in about ordering contacts since i had already set up everything with jamie who helped me with getting the ordering process but when i called in someone had answered i asked for jamie they told me he didnt work there all i said was ok and then got hung up so i had called back 2 more times and got hung up again now its been 3 or so months of wearing the same contacts (since this ignorance has happened) now 1 contact has a chunk missing on top of a tear and my other 1 is starting tear since i have no money because of losing my job i cant afford to get contacts because qhen i wanted to order them i got nothing but ignorance

Alyona Lunchenko Kolesnik

Disappointed with some of the reviews on here. Everyone was extremely nice and tried very hard to get 100% satisfaction from their customers. It's a great place.

It took way to long to get an eye exam here only one Doctor on site and 2 people in the vision center my husband was here over an hour and they took people who's appointment was after his before him . Doesn't anyone keep schedules anymore. Over 600.00 for 2 pairs of glasses. Definitely won't be buying my glasses here

The only reason they are getting one star is because Google makes me. However, I literally just got off the phone with MyEyeDr and the receptionist was extremely rude to me. All I asked for was the strength of my prescription so I could order some new frames (which are broken) for my lenses. She proceeded to tell me that I would not be able to order frames from anywhere because my prescription was 3 years old. Well DUH! My prescription hasn't changed. She then argues with me saying that she wouldn't give it to me over the phone because of the prescription age. I was told that I have to come into the store and show my ID just to get my prescription. I work full time and do not have time to do so. It's a huge inconvenience. I don't recommend anyone going there and I will definitely be taking my business elsewhere.

Made an appointment at 430pm and confirmed it with the lady on the phone but when I got there, they told me it was at 330pm. Luckily I was 45mins early and they were able to see me. Also they didn't call me to let me that my glasses had arrived, I had to called them.

Tonya Armstrong

My appointment was at 11am. Arrived at 10:45. Didnt see the doctor until after 12. I have insurance and still paid 240.00. Ridiculous. Should have read the reviews first. Very disappointing

Marcy Glatfelter

Not like it used to be. A lot has changed. Looking for new place.

Had a 11:30 appointment was seen at almost 1:30. Why schedule a appointment when they take walk inside first or triple book everything

Me and my husband went here yesterday and asked if they could tighten a screw on his glasses and then he was going to order a new pair also when 4 different people tried to tighten it and then the general manager brought them back in 3 pieces and said we can't fix them. I was curious because they came in on my husband's face and now she just gave them back. Well luckily another woman said she's try and thankfully did but after the manager tried to send us off with 3 pieces and my husband couldn't see, well I guess my sons and my appointment will be cancelled for next month after 4 years of coming there. I'm just shocked over her trying this!

On July 3, 2015, I purchased a pair of eyeglasses from Allegheny Optical in Charles Town, W.V.. Specifically, they consisted of an Eddie Bauer Frame (EB 8321 $89.10) and two relatively expensive polycarbonate lenses--progressive bifocal, transitional tint thin lenses with Optiflex AR coating applied by the store. Total bill: $449.50. Sometime after my purchase MyEyeDr bought out Allegheny Optical and inherited all of its customers. Note: Allegheny Optical was an company with a very long history in the Martinsburg/Charles Town area--founded 1968 in Hagerstown, Md.--and I had purchased a number of eyeglasses from them over the past three decades or more. I've been wearing glasses since 3rd grade and am 59 now. Whenever I had a problem, I was always able to take my eyeglasses to Allegheny and have them repaired. Recently the right temple on my Eddie Bauer frame broke so I took it in to MyEyeDr to have it replaced. I figured I might pay between $30-$50 for a new temple but it was a simple fix. I spoke directly to General Manager Emily Funkhouser and was quickly told sorry, but that specific frame has been discontinued and there was nothing MyEyeDr could do. I couldn't believe it! Here I had a relatively new $450 pair of eyeglasses that needed a $50 right temple (the expensive lenses in the broken frame still work fine for my vision) and MyEyeDr was telling me I had to throw it away! The frame could not be fixed. I argued with Ms. Funkhouser for about 10 minutes because frankly I did not believe what she was telling me. Surely, I thought, there must be some way to salvage my $449 purchase. Nothing like this had ever happened before to me at Allegheny Optical. Ms. Funkhouser offered nothing but an apology and politely sent me on my way. She didn't offer to see if any other MyEyeDr stores still had that discontinued frame in stock. Didn't offer to call Eddie Bauer Co. to see if they had any of the discontinued frames and/or temples that could replace mine. I would have gladly bought a second frame of the same type if I could have. She did search around the store for 5 minutes to see if my lenses would fit in any other frames in the store but in the end I was politely told "Sorry, but we don't deal in parts. Your frames cannot be fixed and they are two years old." So, my advice to anyone thinking of going to MyEyeDr is: don't be a sucker! Learn from my experience. If your frame is discontinued and your glasses break then you are s*** out of luck. You are on your own. MyEyeDr will not make any effort to help you repair your broken glasses or find the parts you need to repair your broken glasses. What they want is for you to throw your old glasses out (no matter how much they may have cost you) and buy a brand new pair so they can get rich. I will never waste my time at MyEyeDr again and deeply regret the time I wasted trying to have them help me.

(2 weeks ago) Im from out of town and I had read the bad reviews on here but wanted to make my own opinion. I have been twice to this myeyedoctor and the employees have been nothing but super nice and welcoming Everytime ( even when I had no idea what was my I'd or member number for my eye insurance they still got on the phone and try to locate that for me) I still have to pick up my glasses soon ( just needed lenses in my Tiffany & Co frame) I'm sure they are in good hands. Great service. And best employees, but specially Cathy and Jodi.

This place doesn't deserve any positive reviews. The workers at the front desk are spaced out and don't know what they're doing. I made an appointment and called them twice to double check that it was confirmed, and they said it was. When I went there for my appointment, first they said they didn't even have my name in their file and then they said that it was canceled! Which was odd because the lady I made the appointment with confirmed it with me and said, "Okay! We'll see you then!" Obviously, the people who work there need to wake up and get it together. Even the people at the desk when I went there for my appointment looked like they were spaced out and half asleep, not knowing what was going on around them. Plus, they had the nerve to catch an attitude with ME and they didn't even apologize! They're so rude and ignorant!!! I don't know what kind of idiots are working here. I've never gone through this trouble before at any other place. Just shows what kind of people they hire here I guess. The only reason I put one star is because Google told me to in order to post it. I would never recommend ANYONE to come here for an eye checkup. If you're thinking about coming here, please go to another place! :)

Wouldn't even give them one star if it was an option. I ordered contacts and glasses. The glasses selection is awful not even half of what Allegany optical used to carry, my glasses came in , sat there for over a month never received a phone call for pick up. I went into the store , was Told I was notified when I wasn't. When I rely on both my glasses and contacts it was a huge inconvience to not have them.since having my glasses their the cheapest glasses I've ever own and I mean quality because they surely weren't cheap. Over a 300 dollar purchase and this is what you get in return. Worse experience and purchase ever.

Colleen Parran

My husband and I had a great experience with this store. The schedulers were very friendly and made several adjustments to accommodate our schedules. The appointments were efficient and they told me what was covered by my insurance so I could make a decision about what tests to complete. Jamie was especially helpful getting us set up with new frames and replacement lenses and took the time to adjust my glasses even though they were closing. After all that, we walked out to a dead battery in our truck and Christina and Kathy offered to give us a jump and made sure we were OK before leaving for the day. At the end of the day going into a holiday, Jamie, Kathy and Christina really went above and beyond to help us.

Jenny R

Friendly... nice vibes

Deirdra Montgomery

I am surprized by the negative reviews on here. I had a great experience twice with this place. I am going back tomorrow to order a pair of transition lenses. I will give another rating after I pick them up.

Lorrie Folmar

New patient with an appointment today. Arrived early. Was asked to sign blank paperwork that would be filled in later. NO! I'm not signing blank documents to be sent to my insurance company. I asked for further explanation and was told, "that's what we do, just sign it" I did not sign. This is bad practice and promotes fraud and dishonesty. Waited well past my appointment time to see the doctor. Choose this facility because it's the only one in town that accepts my insurance. I'll have to commute to another town next time.

Dan S

Way worse than USA optical was. Overpriced, ignorant employees. Save yourself the time and headache and go somewhere else.

Scott Hubert

1130 apt... it’s 1230 and I still haven’t seen the freakin dr. This place is trash

Chris Alwan

Extremely overpriced.

Ashley Mogel

ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. Called to make an appointment and they told me I was a walk in only because I missed 2 appointments and one was from 3 years ago. Some guy got on the phone, laughed at me throughout the conversation and told me I wasted the doctors time. I work in customer service and I would never treat anyone the way they treated me.

Ericka Brannon

I have 2 pairs of glasses through my eye dr with protection insurance through this Charles town store . Called to get my lenses replaced they are asking me to bring my glasses in for them to measure the frames when they have the exact pairs in store as I 1)just got them and 2) was told on the phone by a previous lady they still had them in store. I literally hate this place with a passion. Why is it so hard to re order my lenses when I PAID FOR PROTECTION INSRANCE. They can stick it where the sun doesn’t shine they are nasty rude, money hogging, time waiting people.

Great place - mostly smiling faces - knowledgeable staff.

Great staff. Dr. Kleis was friendly and helpful. Kandy went above and beyond helping my wife pick out the perfect pair of glasses.

Very nice staff, I have helped others with receiving their services and got really good feed back for these reasons I also scheduled with them and I like their team. Very helpful, informative and really want to make sure you get the best quality.

Dr. Fleming was great! He listened to and understood my sight problems. This was a first for me. Jodi helped me find the perfect frames, and took the time to listen to my concerns! They also have a very nice receptionist.

I wish I could give this location 10 stars! We had been going to a different location but when we called, they were completely booked, so we decided to try out the Charles Town location. I honestly can't put into words how pleased we were from start to finish. My 10 year old daughter usually dreads her yearly eye exams, but Dr. Hoover was amazing with her! Afterwards, she asked to please go back to see her from now on. Next onto picking out glasses. We were warmly greeted by the manager, Jim. We had Chris help us after picking glasses and he was so helpful and pleasant also! They both made sure any questions we had were answered and everything was explained in detail. There was some confusion on insurance and price, but everyone was so helpful and we left so pleased with our experience! Everyone we came in contact with went above and beyond to make our experience a great one!

Kelci Moore

I've gone here for almost 10 years now and I've only ever once had an issues with my glasses and the people at usa optical did whatever they could to hurry the process and to fix the issue. The staff is always nice and welcoming. And they don't demand full payment up front which for me is amazing since I live with a budget it works nicely. They also have a nice range of frames for kids, teens, and adults. They offer sunglasses too. And for me being diabetic, I have to get my eyes dilated and they are try to make it as painless as possible.

Sam Lang

WARNING! Avoid this place. I ordered a pair of glasses from there recently. They fit okay when I first tried them on, but I thought they could be a little better, so I let the staff adjust them and they made it a lot worse. The glasses wouldn't even fit on my head, and caused me to have headaches. I went back several times to have them readjusted within the first 2 weeks. On the final failed attempt to have them adjusted I asked the manager if I could order a new pair. They denied any responsibility for ruining my glasses, although they initially told me I'd have 30 days for a return. My glasses are currently locked at the temple and I can't even close the arm from the last employee who adjusted them. I'm afraid they're going to break any second, and now I'm very close to being over their 60 day warranty on the frames, which is apparently not long enough to cover the damage that will be caused to your glasses if you allow their inept staff to adjust them for you. I hope this place is shut down. I'll probably have to by a new pair out of pocket somewhere else, since I wasted my insurance purchase on this worthless place. I really hope you don't make the same mistake, and look elsewhere before you purchase here.

James Wholters

Expect to wait for a long time. After an hour and no end in sight I'd had enough.

Kemberly Flores

I went here for both my daughter and I. The staff is great and they really take the time with kids. They are all very friendly and organized. Thank you guys for all your help.

McKay Branding

Had a great experience with scheduling and a appointment for my son, the Dr. was amazing as well as his experience over on the other side picking out a pair. Would recommend.

Brian Magar

100% horrible experience. I had an appointment with the eye doctor. The DR. recommends I get bifocal lenses. I go to the front to find frames and place my order. The person ordering fails to put in the correct prescription. Human error. I get it. However, when I went to pick up the WRONG glasses, I was told that this was somehow my fault for not specifying that I wanted a bifocal prescription. I was supposed to somehow read the paperwork correctly and specify various things within a doctors prescription? This makes zero sense. So two weeks later I receive the wrong glasses. I’m still walking around with the incorrect prescription. I spent WEEKS attempting to call the corporate office to no avail. I finally get a call back. They refuse to make right on the mistake. Meaning, I wanted my money back and/or a free pair of glasses and they flatly refused. So I’m out a few hundred dollars at this point. A few weeks later I go in to get my records. Went to a REAL eye doctor. This guy gave me a good prescription for close vision. Which is exactly what I had expressed that I needed on multiple occasions due to the nature of my work. I’m floored how they could get this so wrong. Customer service is TRASH all around. Total morons. This company is rotten at its core. Avoid at all cost.

The absolute rudest on the phone for a new client making an appointment! Watch your tone and how you ask questions!!! Wow! Nothing that said "How may I help you?" Just "Do you HAVE insurance?" with major attitude.

Sandy Palasciano

Very poor service; over 5 weeks and still no glasses. Kept lying about delivery date of the glasses and it keeps getting moved out week by week. No communication from manager, no return calls to my messages. Will never go back and will not recommend anyone to go to Ranson. Will go out of state to someone who appreciates a customer that spends $1,000.00 for eye care. P.S. Kathy is great and should be made Manager; Lisa needs to go.

Linda Frey

My husband and I both go to My Eye Doctor in their York office, we both have been patients for quite a few years. The ppl on staff and the doctors are all friendly and seem to love their job. Every time my husband and I return to pick our new prescription glasses up, they want to make sure you are comfortable with you new glasses and that they look great.

zachary hubbard

Rude receptionists, the only ones in there that care about the patient are the doctors. Paid out of pocket for the exam and contact lenses and they couldn't even get that order correct. Burned by this location multiple times now. Shame on me for going back.

Karen Miller

Very unprofessional staff from the receptionist who laughs when a complaint is made to a Dr that rolls her eyes and huffs because you didn’t bring back in the contacts that didn’t work!! Always an issue with waiting 45mins to over an hour after the appointment time, yet tell you if you’re more than 10mins late you must reschedule- do yourself a favor and avoid this place!

Dank Memes

I really think this is the best usa optical i have ever went to. The staff was very helpful and professional. I look forward to coming back.

Timothy Schwartz

When I called in to make an appointment I was told there may be a fee to test for contacts during exam. During the exam I was told there's a fee of $15 if I wanted contacts so I politly asked to not do that. I was told I could just pay the $15 when I picked up my prescription. During checkout I ended up owing $95 and was being treated like I just tried to eat free at a restaurant ! I explained I was under the impression there's be nothing oowed.WhenI paid a few days later they said itd take a week and scheduled a "class" after. 3 days later I get a text my contacts arrived. I couldn't make the "class" because of my busy schedule so when I came in to pickup my contacts because I wanted to see the woman testing me refused to give any pointers or suggestions because I didn't take the "class". It's been a while since I've been to an eye doctor. If this is how it is everywhere then God help us!
