I’m impressed! I needed to bring my one son, but had to bring my 3 other kids along as well. They were so kind and patient with us all. Dr. Hatfield took her time and got a really good, brand new prescription for my son. My son was hesitant, but he was made to feel so comfortable. Now he’s actually excited about his new glasses.

I brought my son in for an eye exam. We discussed glasses and contact options with the doctor during the eye exam. I even told the doctor that we are leaning towards going straight to contacts for my son. Here's my issue.... Because I didn't schedule a second appointment called a "Contact Fitting" for another $112.00, they claim they don't have the information needed for the contact prescription. Save yourself time, go to a reputable place who will give you a full exam. update: The doctor called me personally within 20 minutes of posting this. As nice as he was and as short as I was with him; he is trying to make this situation better. He offered me a second appoint today to rectify this. So my disappointment is I still have to bring my son in for a second appointment but at least they are trying to rectify the frustration. So, I change my 1 star review to 3 stars, mostly because I was short and blunt with the doctor and because his intentions were sincere in making this right. Suggestion: Regardless if you know if you want contacts or not, make the appointment for eye exam and contact fitting. That way you at least have the option when you're there on the first visit and won't have to come back for a second visit.

Dr. Hatfield and her staff (Kelsey Hefner) are phenomenal. They work with you until everything is perfect. Their new location in Davidson is extremely convenient. You can buy glasses nearly anywhere; finding optimal customer service is the key; Tradewinds Eye Care Optical is great.

We had a fantastic experience at Tradewinds. My boyfriend just moved here and upon arrival we realized that his contacts AND glasses had been lost in the move. We got an appointment for him the very next day and he got a (turns out much-needed) eye exam, new (better-quality) contacts, and great frames. Kelsey was INCREDIBLY patient in helping us select new frames; her expertise, style, and kindness really shone. The facility itself is spacious and light-filled, they have a big variety of really excellent frames (including hip brands like Shwood, Salt, etc.), and their playlist was awesome. What could have been a real headache was actually a great time. PS: When we got home, we found some of his old contacts (!), and we're STILL glad we went.

AMAZING! These guys are awesome! They were slammed busy when I went for my appointment but I still got treated like I was the only one there! The lady at the front desk held conversation and made you feel welcome! As busy as the doctor was she still took her time with me didn't rush at all and was very nice! Then the lady who helped me choose my glasses oh was she a blessing! She also took her time and answered all of the questions I had and helped me choose an amazing pair of glasses! The staff and care at Tradewinds Eye Care is wonderful! The selection of eye wear is of the highest quality with reasonable prices. My children and I both wear glasses and contacts which can be expensive and stressful, but this establishment has made it both fun and manageable. Customer forever! Highly recommend!

Paid $170.00 for an eye exam, and the ordered a pair of trial contacts for me. These are the same contacts I wear, and I went in to get my prescription and was told that I need to make an appointment to have these contacts fitted (even though I wear these contacts already) and when the doctor come out I was abrupt with her stating I just need a written prescription, because I was going to go elsewhere (cheaper) to purchase them, but was told I needed to make an appointment. I told her I was not going to make an appointment for something I already wear and she stormed off like a school girl that just got her favorite doll taken away from her. She is very unprofessional when there is an upset customer. Not a good fit for someone in her position.

They Answers emails and respond your concerns right away no matter what time it is or which day is it.. very clean attractive office. Honest and sincere associates. What a wonderful experience. From high tech equipment, to personal touches this office is amazing. My progressive lens glasses were run over, so I was desperate for a new pair. I was in need of my yearly eye exam and quick turn around on the glasses and I was a new patient. Dr Hatfield was efficient, kind and takes a very personal touch when examining your eyes. She has state of the art equipment. Office is very clean, and well designed. Kelsey helped me find the perfect pair of glasses, not to mention they were back in 3 days. That's a crazy turn around time for progressive lenses. I would highly recommend Tradewinds Eye Care for everyone!!

If you are looking for an optometrist in the Lake Norman area, I highly recommend Dr. Hatfield at Tradewinds. I'm used to a quick routine experience with other optometrists. But Dr. Hatfield took time with me explaining what she was doing and actually talked about the health of my eyes (30 years wearing glasses and she is the only person that actually explained the pictures she was taking and how my prescription works). She and her team assisted with choosing new glasses as well. I'm glad I found a new eye doctor in the area! Definitely give her office a try!

I recently got contact lenses for the first time from Tradewinds Eye Care to improve my distance vision. I was so impressed with the quality of the service I received! I was terrified of the whole experience, but both the staff and the doctor made me feel completely at ease from the get go. Dr. Hatfield took the time to ease my fear and apprehension. She did not show a hint of impatience with me the entire time, even though I probably was taking longer than it should have to learn how to take out my contacts and put them back in. The doctor chose the perfect contact for my active lifestyle. I have been wearing them for a couple days, and I can already wear them for the entire day because they are so comfortable. I couldn't be happier with my experience there. If you're considering getting contacts, this is the place to get them. Thanks you guys!!

They are friendly and welcoming at Tradewindeyecare. Upon my first visit, I went in asking for a durable glasses, something that I didn’t have to repair and replace frequently. After expressing my concerns with my previous frames from all different brands , high end versache to imported frames, wooden frames and frames of all materials. Even quick Walmart frames. This store has made the effort no other store has to followed up and take the time and patience needed to make such a vital part of life functional. It’s important for each individual to invest time and care into their glasses. Don’t be afraid to express your concerns and what you want out of your frames with this company. For example because of my eyesight, I have a hard time finding light colored frames. I’ve had glasses that have nose pieces that get caught and originally when I avoided them, I found they have many different nose piece selections some that are less prone to getting caught. As a customer let this be the last trip you make for a frame that will last through transparency and setting expectations of what you need because they will make sure that you not only get what you need, but that you also feel a part of the Davidson community. Again, my hope in writing this review is that others make informed choices on their Eyecare. Understand there isn’t doctor examination at this location so there number one focus is you feeling good about the right frames and they have a team that will help put your new frames in your hands as soon as possible.

I am constantly traveling and my schedule is impossible. I really needed to get an updated prescription to order contacts but was new in town. did a couple of searches and kind of randomly stumbled on Tradewinds. they went so far above and beyond to help me out. and have always been nothing but helpful ever since. I had a thorough exam including full eye imaging that I have never seen before; attentive and detail-oriented check up. AND after being stuck with frames for a few years because there's just not much out on the market (including visiting other Charlotte sites) this place was a breath of fresh air. NEW frames, modern styles. I just got a year's worth of contacts because I havent been able to find glasses that arent the same old thing just in a different color (25 yrs of glasses wearing and it's hard to find something that can still make you smile when you put them on). In a couple of months, I have already bought 3 sets of sunglasses (prescription and non) and ordering another 2 sets of frames. Contacts will be my back up. I have actually been talked out of extra "upsells" that I asked about bc they didnt really suit my needs and I have found out about other options that would actually suit my computer-staring and long-hour-driving lifestyle better. I look forward to going and have gotten nothing but personalized attention. Now, if I could only find a dentist that made me happy to show up so regularly.

This is a true modern boutique. They carry SALT frames which are unique and fabulous. Kelsey is an expert at frame design. Dr. Hatfield is an expert Optometrist. My prescription is perfect. She takes so much time with you! Whitney is highly efficient at processing insurance and running the office. They really are a great team. Thanks for a fantastic experience.

What started as a minor inquiry with me looking for a pair of sunglasses that are no longer produced turned into a major project and I am so fortunate that Kelsey Hefner was there to take the lead and help me through the whole process. Kelsey tracked down the only pair of glasses in the country, got them polished, ordered and installed new lenses and then mailed them to me and they look amazing! Over the course of 28 emails she stuck with the project, communicated with me every step of the way and really took ownership and made the project her own mission and she completed it beautifully! I would recommend Kelsey or anyone at Tradewinds if you are in the market for new glasses or sunglasses, they certainly are a stellar example of why boutique eyeglass stores should be cherished and protected in this world of big box and chain stores, help them and do yourself a favor by supporting Tradewinds and any other local store!
