When visiting this optometry for the first time, it was my major goal to utilize my insurance coverage to not pay any extra expenses. After repetitively asking several times, the secretaries in this shop assured me that no co-pays were due for the eye exam. Most employees incl. the optometrist where helpful. However, when checking out, all of a sudden $40 were due w/o asking for my consent - what an impudence! They would not give me the prescription w/o payment. Inconceivably audacious and corrupt!

I was one of the patients who got "absorbed" from the clinic that closed in the area. It was a happy accident! The ladies at the front desk were so sweet and friendly (even with me being an "alternative looking" sort) and we were cutting up and having fun before I even got to my exam. Dr. Faber immediately found that I have had some changes in my prescription in the last few years that could be causing my extreme, chronic headaches. The technician that walked me through picking my new progressive/bifocal lenses explained how they work and helped me chose them and explained the pricing tiers very well (and was honest about the differences). In the end, everyone was oohing and ahhing over the frames I chose (awesome selection). They were even short one person in the office that day and I still felt that I got personalized attention. Just a fun experience and I'm looking forward to going back for my fitting. :)

NoI've now been waiting over 2 weeks for my 600 glasses and wasnt told they were back ordered until after I called multiple times and had been hung up on... that and being told that these lenses may not even work meaning I'd have to shell out more money for new ones. .. suffering from diabilitating migraines every day

I was really 'worried' when I called, as I had 'floaters' in my eye and did not understand the reason. Dr. Swerskki (sorry sp) was great!! He saw me the next day, and explained everything. Had a follow up 6 weeks later to double check. Really personal with great personality as well. Above and beyond expectations. My previous optometrist closed and recommended this office. Would highly recommend. I am so glad to have a eye doctor take the time to explain an issue and be as concerned as I was. Thank you Dr. S !! :-).

I had gone here all my adult life because of Dr. Micheal J. Sowa, but I will be finding a new optometrist now that he has retired. I have Tricare insurance, and did not know nor was I informed by the office that part of my visit was not covered, and I had a balance due. Because of the balance I was unaware that I owed, they somehow arrested my order at 1800 Contacts. If I had been informed of my bill, I could have taken care of it immediately, and I would have fresh eye wear. I do not appreciate these guerrilla tactics.

I recently went to Carolina thinking it would be a good choice. They are very friendly, but they didn’t tell me I had a stigmatism in one eye and they also told me that both of my eyes were the same, but my right is worse. Also, they took forever to fax my prescription to my new eye doctors.

Your going to be over charged ! Ask for a quote for everything, eye examine, contacts, etc.. Everything seemed fine till I called to order my contacts, a eye examine had been done earlier. I discovered I had paid for a very standard eye examine and my insurance had paid for one also which added up to $244.00 dollars. Needless to say I ordered contacts on my own to keep from paying them anymore. When totaled up my contacts and very standard eye examine came to over $350.00. I normally pay around $100.00 less. This was my second annual checkup visit to Carolina Optometric and I have had extremely positive experiences both times. The ladies at the front reception desk are upbeat and funny. Misty was my technician and Dr. Ski was my physician. What can you say about a visit to the eye doctor, really? The thing I noticed is the consistency of positive, professional attitudes and dispositions. I especially enjoyed and appreciated the time Dr. Ski spent talking about my vision etc. - like there were no other patients waiting for him. The office is in a bit of an off-the-wall corner of the universe but it is worth finding. I don't think you will find better eye care in Asheville, IMHO.

I was so unhappy with the "assembly line" style of care I received at a large practice on Medical Park Drive in Asheville that I decided to do research before I made a change. I read reviews for many practices and picked Carolina Optometric. It was the best decision! I am so pleased with the staff's level of professionalism - from the front desk to the techs. "Dr. Ski" noticed that my mono vision contact lens prescription was not optimal and suggested a change that included reversing the reading and distance lenses. That might sound complicated, but trust me, he was right. It needed to be done. So, we made the change and he worked with me to ensure that I had enough time to adjust to the change and ensure that the actual prescription allowed me to clearly see far, near and everything in between. I am so happy with my decision to switch to Carolina Optometric and I highly recommend this practice.

I had a great experience! The staff are amazing and extremely helpful! Thankfully Mercedes was accommodating with my scheduling and was able to get me in on my day off. I was a little nervous because my last experience with an eye doctor's office wasn't great but the nurse and Dr. Faber put me immediately at ease. I had a lot of help finding a new pair of glasses within my budget and mostly covered by my insurance. I will definitely be back to order my contacts.

If I could give less than 1 star I would, I finally got my daughter to go here yesterday to get her eye exam and everything was going pretty good until she was checking out. One of the young ladies at the desk had a smarta$$ attitude simply because my daughter said to bill her parents as she stood there, not knowing what else was to come, the girl looks up and tells my daughter " I'm done with you" with a hateful attitude. I can tell you that you just lost three customers and whoever else I can tell about this!!!

Just wanted to sing Laura some praise! I purchased a pair of eyeglasses from this location after receiving my prescription from another office. My vision was not quite right, even after wearing the new pair for a few weeks, and I wasn't sure whether the problem was with my prescription or the glasses. As it turns out, I did need to have my prescription adjusted in one eye (which I discovered at the office who gave me the Rx). However, it turns out the impaired depth perception was due to how the eyeglasses were sitting on my face. No one else noticed that one side of the glasses was sitting closer to my face than the other, but Laura noticed it immediately, just by looking at me! This happened just days after I had them adjusted (incorrectly) at the other office, and the other office was not as thorough, put them crookedly on my face, and did not check the distance from my face. Laura also gave me information on how my insurance would cover the Rx change and was extremely helpful overall. I will definitely be returning to Carolina Optometric in the future!

Dr. Faber is beyond amazing. She’s so gentle and delicate on the eye I cannot put it into words. Her bedside matter and professionalism left me feeling nurtured the whole time. I consider myself a pretty tough guy but when you sustain an eye injury you really find out what you’re made of. She made me feel super relaxed and never put pressure on me to go further than I was comfortable. Also they are very thorough with their follow up appointments and I examinations. If I could give any individuals with an eye injury a word of warning do not go to urgent care for eye injuries. They’re not qualified end of story. They misdiagnosed my eye injury and left me potentially with a permanent issue with their missed diagnosis. Only go to a doctors for issues. Give this place a try you will not regret it!

This was my first visit with this office, and they immediately made me feel welcome - I was greeted kindly and was checked in efficiently. I was taken for my exam quickly, and the assistant was very professional, friendly, quick, and thorough. When I saw Dr. Ski, he made sure I understood what was going on, stayed with me the entire time of my visit instead of running back and forth with other patients (as I've had other eye Dr.'s do). He helped me better understand my diagnosis and feel more at ease about it than my previous Dr. He also figured out another vision problem I have that the previous Dr. had not really taken the time to deal with. He was very personable, thorough, informative about my specific case, and made my visit low stress, which was often not the case in the past. I appreciate this office's consideration of my time by making my entire office visit less than an hour when in the past it has sometimes taken over 2 hours at other Dr.'s. I definitely plan on them becoming my new regular eye care facility.

First eye exam in seven years, they don't try to make you feel guilty like when you don't go to the dentist. Dr. Faber was un-rushed, patient with my novice questions, and the whole environment seems more like a day-spa than a doctors office. The equipment is state-of-the-art and seemed new. They are hygiene conscious and wipe down the equipment in front of you with disinfectant. Such a good experience I'm taking my daughters in for exams asap!
