Excellent. Organized and efficient service, took approx 1 hr. 15 mins. including eye exam, fittings and frame selection. The staff are thoughtful and attentive to your needs. Isabella is awesome. Dr. Tran is very efficient, thorough and professional. I will definitely return for my eye care needs. They have beautiful frames as well, and I received great assistance with frame selection to fit my style. Overall, I'm impressed with the service and have great new glasses to show for it. Thanks

Not great. 2 months after I got my glasses, my left lenses got 2 scratches. A few months after that, there was this film over the lenses that would not go away, Actually, since I got my glasses I noticed that the lenses got easily stained or smudged. I've worn glasses all of my life and never had to clean lenses as much as this - at least 3x a day at minimum. The coating was flaking off so I guess that explained the foggy covering over the front. I only cleaned my lenses with lens cleaner, lens cloths or baby shampoo. Never took the film away because it was the flaking coating they put on. The DAY I got my glasses the frame was adjusted so wide it would fall off my face if I look down even a little. It took 7 adjustments to make it a little better, but they constantly fall off. Customer service never really helped so I called Davis Vision directly when I was not getting answers. All in all I would NOT recommend if this is your ONLY pair. Maybe as a throwaway second pair. Terrible lens quality. I don't recommend even if your insurance covers it.

I tried several contact brands with them and had my eye exams with 2 doctors there. They can't find the perfect thing for me so I gave up trying again and again and bought something ok... Then someone oversea helped me find the right thing (which is produced here in US) and told me the prescription Cohen had for me didn't actually work for me. So I went back and tried to return my unopened boxes (unused lenses). When they calculated the refund (store credit actually), they did in such a non-sense way that all they tried to do was to reduce the amount of credits they were going to give me! I pointed out the miscalculation and then they refused to show me any of my previous purchasing records... I left even without being able to have a copy of my prescription, which cost me $125. Totally terrible experience. Don't go there... If you have to go, try not deal with the girl called "Shelly". She knows nothing - can't read the simple order details and don't know how to schedule a call...

I stopped in to ask if they could put one of the lenses back into my frames. There were three staff there and they were all very friendly. The optician took my glasses and repaired them in two minutes. There was no charge. This place is hospitable and professional. I highly recommend them.

I went there to fix my broken glasses and they were very helpful and kind... thank you

Came here because they took my insurance and it's close to my office. Start with the positives, the doctor was very friendly, patient, and took his time to answer all of my questions. Gave me some free eye drops after knowing I get dry eyes easily. The store is nicely attended, clean, organized, and smells very pleasant. The scheduling system was forgiving as it is difficult for me to get out from work early, I was able to re-schedule easily and wasn't punished when I missed my appointment. It's a small store, but the selection they carry are decent. Not comparable to those in Soho of course, but they do have a few relatively new and in trend styles. My main dissatisfaction is the costumer service. This was probably the most awkward face-to-face experience I've had in the USA with any sales assistance. The staff behind counters were sarcastic, unfriendly, apathetic and judgmental. There was no smiles, no greetings, no thank you. With an attitude that they are too good for their jobs, I felt very uncomfortable spending any time to browse for potential purchases and quickly left the store.

I haven't received the other half of my contact prescription in almost two years. Please save your time and energy and go somewhere else. The 'customer service' is exhausting.

Fabulous experience with the doctor himself. Really seamless and he definitely listened to my concerns. The women at the counter were rude, however which nullifying the experience. While criticizing me for not knowing that my new contact brand no longer came in a 6 pack they also belittled me because I didn’t know how much expedited shipping would cost on 1800contacts and we’re bullying me into buying the 24 pack because they probably received a commission. Frankly, it had very little to do with the cost but I did not want to interact with them further nor give them more money. I will go back due to convenience but to solely interact with the doctor and purchase the actual contacts elsewhere.

Very bad experience. Went there several months ago to subscribe the glasses. When I got my new glasses, I asked them to help adjust my old one however the technician broke it... And he asked me to repair by myself that he cannot be responsible for it. I was pretty angry however I thought that since I got the new one, the old one may not be matter. The new glasses aren't confortable at all they pressing my ears a lot. This is not the end. It was only a few months the pads of the new glasses subscribed at Cohen kept falling off. So I went to the store to have it fixed which is a lot of inconvinence for me as I have moved to another area. The technician is not there at the store and they asked me to leave the glasses at store. I cannot do this as they broke my only backup glasses a few months ago! Today I spent some money to have my glasses fixed somewhere esle. I am so disappointed by Cohen.

Terrible customer service. I came in for an eye exam and was told I needed to wait 20 minutes. After that time I had to beg to know when I will be seen. After 10 more minutes of no update I left. What a waste of time and the people behind the desk don't care about their customers.

mrjspence .

Had a great experience here. After no one answering the phone at 3 different LensCrafters, I called this location. Scheduled a same day appointment for 4pm. By 5:30 just 90min later I had a new pair of frames with Rx lenses installed, plus a contact lens Rx as well. Vision was just a bit better than 20/20 when I left which was far better than when I went in. Staff were all nice enough and checked my insurance just to see if I qualified for any discounts/coverage. They carry most major luxury brands here like Prada, T&Co, Gucci, Tom Ford, Cartier, etc. I had my own frames and they were able to put custom lenses in them. Highly recommend this specific location they seem to have their s**t together!!

Very bad experience at this location

Helpful and courteous staff. I walked in to have my frame adjusted. The optician did a good job. Temples not loose any more.

Brett Rothstein

Horrible service, terrible attitudes and a bunch of college drop outs working here who couldn't care less about a "customer." Do yourself a favor and head elsewhere.

I had a horrendous experience here. I initially waited for 45 minutes after being told that I could walk in without an appointment, then another 30 minutes when I had made an appointment the next day. Went back twice since the first doctor gave me the wrong prescription, and the second doctor gave me a wildly different (and also wrong) prescription. Staff was apathetic, unfriendly, and completely unhelpful. Doctor was snobby and sarcastic with me, and she rushed to get me in and out of the office. Absolutely unacceptable service. Avoid this place at all costs.

TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE! This location has a RUDE Black lady behind the counter who is not only unprofessional but extremely disrespectful. The Dr was there and didn't reprehend this employee's negative action SHAME ON HIM AND THIS LOCATION. I paid $750.00 for this uncalled behavior. TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE perhaps to 55th between 5/6 Aves.

I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THIS PLACE EVER!!!! SUCH A HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! when i first came in i felt discriminated by the sales department, no one want to take care of their customers if you dont look "rich" enough for them. The doctor is great for having an exam but buying my frames it was such an horrible experience!!. Both of the sales assistant is horrible! First they showed me all expensive frames by prada, gucci, dior, etc. When i told them i dont want those branded frames and im not paying extra for it, thats when the mood change TISHA! the sales person who was helping suddenly ignored/avoided me just because i refused to purchase the item she was pushing me to buy. Then when i asked for another person who was there she refused to provide the prices for the frames i was looking at, per that person "tisha will have to provide you the price". seriously what kind of customer service are they providing!!!!? run away from these rude human being. At the end of the day i was going to buy my glasses to them but since i was treated badly i took my money and business somewhere else.

Isabell was super helpful. Thank you!

Helpful friendly and fast They checked my health insurance, helped me find a good shape and select the lenses in just a few minutes with a smile and good advice.

I came to NYC forgetting my glasses and contacts. Sheraton recommended Cohen Optical on 57th. Cohen Optical was helpful and staff was nice in getting me contacts. But I was shocked when the staff told me a 90-day box would be $150. I stomached the higher price since I really needed them, but felt taken advantaged of. I stopped by another Cohen shop near by and they told me that the box should have cost me $60/box. I order my contacts online for $40/box and understand they would run higher in a brick and mortar, but didn't expect it to be significantly higher.

I stopped by to ask a question about my husbands scratched up sunglasses. Glasses that were not even purchased at the store. Even with a store full of people, the sales person spent 10 minutes explaining my options to me. I never felt rushed and was very pleased with the service.

Tom DeBerardine

Don't go here. Late glasses with wrong lenses, second pair also late store was too incompetent or just didn't care to even start until I came the second time to pick up. Didn't bother getting the second pair after that.

I came on thursday 11/12 to have my eyeglasses straightened. I was greeted and noticed 3 women working, and when I asked for help I was brushed off. Being told, "there was no Optician available". I was instructed to come back on friday. I did so and was given the same story. I was then told to come back on Tuesday 11/17. After coming back 3 times, needless to say I am still looking for a Optician to help me adjust my glasses. I would not recommend this Cohens to anyone who is looking for help or an Optician. They apparently don't have one. Seeing so many other dissatisfied customer reviews it seems this is the norm for this location '132 West 57st'.

Steve S

Great service! Helped me with emergency with a smile. Thank you guys!!!

Julie Holtzman

I was very pleased.... The Doctor was excellent and very patient. The staff was helpful . The cost was more reasonable than most.

After having difficulty attaining my contact prescription from another location, the lovely ladies working at the 57th Street store helped me obtain my prescription after being put on hold multiple times that added up to about an hour. In addition to ordering my new contact lenses they added two additional pairs to my order for free. They were very helpful and nice. Definitely going to make this my new go-to store.

Mary Alice Sexton

Very pleased. Pleasant optometrist and service staff. After my exam, they immediately pointed out which frames would be covered at 100% under my insurance plan. I really appreciated that because other large retailers show you the designer frames first and keep the lower cost frames in a drawer in the back.

Sharon Kim

Staff need to take a customer service 101 course. If they don’t know how to explain the fee structure clearly, they should have it written out on paper, rather than putting the onus on the customer to decipher fuzzy explanations. Was so appalled by the rudeness that I walked out before seeing the optometrist.

I have to say that this location has the best and most amazing customer service. Also their selection of glasses for both reading and sunglasses are fantastic. The single best thing about this location is Izabel. This business just wouldn't be the same without her. She is the face of Cohen's and provides the best customer service and is just generally amazing. I would recommend this store to anyone looking for glasses or a great experience.

Kazuhiro Yasuda

People were nice, but extremely overpriced. I got a frame for $495, but another store sells the exact same item for $250.

Highly recommend. Because I have an eye disease that limits my vision, it is very tricky for me to get glasses that are cut properly so that I can see well. This Cohens at 57th Street is the only place I have been able to get glasses that work for me. I went here for years when I worked nearby. When I stopped working in NYC, I tried some local places in NJ for convenience. Unfortunately, I wasted a lot of money on two new pairs of glasses from two different places that I was unable to use because I just couldn't see out of them. I kept going back to the ones I bought in 2014 from this Cohens. So I recently made the trip in to NYC, purchased a new pair of glasses from this location and finally, a pair of glasses I can see out of! Thank you! I also got my contact lenses. Thank you Dr. Cho for adjusting my prescription properly and for being kind and listening to me. And thank you Isabel for helping me pick out my frames and for friendly, great service. No, they are not discount, however, you get what you pay for and it's 100% worth the money to be able to see!

I stopped by this particular Cohen store 2nd week in May, 2012 to get my frame adjusted. The girl at the counter quickly asked if I purchased these glasses at their store, which I did not, and informed me that all the adjustments are done at my own risk. I said that was fine because how hard it is to screw in a frame a bit tighter I thought. Anyhow, she brought the glasses back about 5 minutes later. Once I put them on, I noticed that they were completely blurry. (They melted my lenses when they were melting my plastic frame, which no one warned me about). After 5 minutes of fake surprise from the girl that helped me, she called the manager. The manager who had an attitude as if I just ruined her glasses, told me that they will replace my lenses but they might brake the frame when they will try to remove them. Hence again, they will do it at my own risk. I was scheduled to get my LASIK surgery in the next 5 days so I really didn't need to spend $150 on new frame. I told them to have a great a day and left. I'm not the one who will judge them. It's just very sad that they this sort of practice! Beware!

Generally, I wont hesitate to complain. This location due mainly in part to their magnificent staff should be the Global model for "How An Experience In An Eyeglass Shop Should Be" . Their eyeglass and sunglasses selection is noteworthy
