What a wonderful experience I had at Looking Glass Optical! The staff is very friendly and Dr. Teles is a "teaching" doctor. He always made sure that I understood what type of tests we were doing and why. It was important to him that I understood what was going on with my vision. I made my appointment on ZocDoc and I called the office to confirm. I love that I am able to choose my appointments online. Talk about easy! When I called to confirm the receptionist offered to give me directions and even told me that I could print my new patient paperwork online to expedite my appointment. Chrissy was amazing. She took me back to do some tests on my vision. We had a great time talking about the community and the need for affordable eye care for low income families. Overall my experience with Looking Glass Optical was great and I am looking forward to going back in next week to choose my frames.

Simply the best. My wife and I are sailing around the world, yet I just threw an extra 360nm of sailing to cut up The Chesapeake Bay to get my eyes recalibrated. It is simply the best 2.5 hours of really cool science, all explained by the most patient, caring, insightful, witty, and compassionate Doctor I have ever met. I have been around the globe and seen a plethora, some decent, many not so much. I once had a "thorough eye exam", and the doctor used no more than his finger!!! The staff is absolutely top shelf, taking as much time as they need to explain every step. When I need my eyes checked the next time, there will be plane tickets to or from BWI. I will be in The Exumas for winter, if the y'all want to come on down.

Never greeted when I entered and lady sitting in the back I guess doing accounting and another guy playing on his phone while I waited . After completing my paper work and hearing the associates talking about another patient. Then took tests and they had to be redone and doctor and when I called told how great my insurance was. Then when checking out have me a test that was not covered and no one told me. They are cheating the insurance company and medical. Up charging and going to notify the attorney general office. Then had 10 dollar co pay and they just added 10 bucks. Had to go back with my year old prescription and have them change the curve and prescription. Then the lady says I asked you your curve and do you want your prescription changed? Bad experience . People not friendly.

Dr.Teles is the BEST Podiatrist in the State of Maryland. I've been seeing him since2004.I have seen other Podiatrists because of Insurance issues, but the Insurance Company's keep sending me to the utmost worst Drs.. I decided just not to use my Insurance and just pay cash at least I get the professional Services from a top notch Doctor. Dr.Teles is a no nonsense Dr. He gets the job done right.The last Production line Optometrist was in Glen Burnie, I won't use their name it was 7 months ago.The work this other outfit nearly ruined my eyes. Office is has a cozy feel. Staff is friendly and the Dr. is great and explains everything to you thoroughly. Only issue maybe eyewear as it seems they may mark them up quite a bit after going online and referencing a few things. Overall good experience but I would definitely shop around for eyewear/glasses before you make the purchase you may come out better just getting the prescription and getting a quote somewhere else.

I agree with the people about Dr.Mayer Teles being knowledgeable. However,I definitely agree with everyone about the billing.I owned a Medical Insurance Claims Analysis business and I have filed a complaint with the Insurance Commission.They bill both of the Medical and Visionary parts of your insurance for the same exams and charge you a duplicate copay from both of your insurances for the same Office Visits.What a shame to RUIN a business with fraudulent billing practices!! As a follow up to your reply,this does not address charging me co-pays for Doctor visits on BOTH days from BOTH Insurance Carriers.I do not have a problem with billing Medical Care to a Medical Insurance Carrier and Vision Care to a Vision Insurance Carrier.I and the Insurance Commission have a problem with you billing ALL CHARGES TO BOTH !! As a follow up to your reply,my problem is with you charging ME Co-pays from BOTH Insurance carriers on BOTH dates of service for the SAME TESTS.I do not have a problem with billing Medical Care to Medical Insurance Carriers and Vision Care to Vision Insurance Carriers.I and the Insurance Commission have a PROBLEM with BILLING BOTH CARRIERS FOR ALL CHARGES !!!

The father does the exam work and Marc helps you work through the selection process and get fitted for glasses. I received an eye exam which included screening with a retinal photo, a new patient comprehensive exam and the determination of my refractive state. All of this was performed at United Optical in Glen Burnie. When the exam was completed I selected my frame and received a price for filling my prescription. I felt the price given for the prescription was much too high.After shopping around, I ended up purchasing "Pentax DiamondClear AR lenses for my frames at Looking Glass Optical at a very substantial savings. Yes, I'll say I'm very happy with the quality of the lenses and the no hassle fitting of the lenses to my frame which I had not purchased at his location.

My whole family uses Dr. Teles, and won't go anywhere else! He is more thorough than anyone, and has a great way of relating to adults and kids alike. My daughter has Down Syndrome and is nonverbal, and he is able to get the responses he needs to make the diagnosis. We love him. I just went through the process of getting bifocal contacts fitted with him, which is difficult and not even done by all optometrists. I am so glad I did, and he worked to get them really right. I couldn't be happier!

All went well until the bill came, I was expecting to pay only my copay but they requested I pay for future visits and my exam totaling over $300.00. I didn’t pay so I didn’t get contacts. Even after VSP called them they still wanted the money and would not write a script. A total waste of my time and theirs, obviously they are in it for the cash, not the well being of the patient. If you go there expect to be fleeced out of a couple hundred! BEWARE!! Ask what the total will be before you get examined, you may be surprised!!

I have NEVER had a better, more thorough eye exam than that given me by Dr. Teles. I met him over the internet. Even though I was not his patient at the time, I had a very painful eye condition on a Sunday. I went online trying to get some assistance, found Looking Glass Optical and sent him an email. He graciously responded, asked some questions then gave me advice to hold me over until I could get into the office to see him on Monday. I have referred friends who also found his service exceedingly thorough and supportive. One of my friends who'd had several eye surgeries seemed to be losing sight in one of eyes. I took her to see Dr. Teles and he was able to assure her if she took her medicines properly, it would correct the problem she was experiencing. She had inadvertently stopped taking one of the follow up medications prescribed for her after surgery. Dr.Teles also let her see what her vision would be with continued treatment and proper glasses after the treatment ended. It restored her hope about her sight. I am very grateful to have him as a care provider!

My husband went to Looking Glass Optical today, Friday November 16th with my beloved pair of Limited Edition Bvlgari sunglasses. A screw had recently popped off, disconnecting the lens from the frame and the screw was never recovered. He found it odd that the woman behind the counter, whose name he didn't catch, did the repair quickly, hurriedly put the glasses away and let him know it would be free of charge. He was relieved that it was fixed and pleasantly surprised it was free. When I came home from work and inspected the glasses, I was livid. Not only did she use the wrong screw, but she SCRATCHED THE LENS. He admitted she said they didn't have the right screw (so it's on him for not immediately saying "nevermind, I'll look elsewhere.") But it's on her for butchering what would have been a clean fix for a real professional. I'm not one for fancy shoes or designer handbags but these sunglasses were my ONE luxury item that I cherished. I purchased them back in my early 20s when I had my first big break and to me they were a symbolic reminder of what can be done with hard work and perseverance. They are beautifully crafted and durable - outlasting my party years, 5 moves and multiple concerts. I know there's nothing that can be done to remedy my situation at this point, so all I can hope is that this review will reach someone else thinking of getting designer glasses fixed here - don't. EDIT: The owner, Marc Teles was kind enough to reach out to me to make amends. We worked out a deal wherein my husband could get a discounted or free eye exam. Unfortunately my husband had a family emergency and didn't make it. I can't attest to their work, but I can attest to their dedication to make clients happy and for that, I am grateful!

This office has the most experienced optician I have ever been examined by. Extremely thorough. However, even with insurance, you'll find his prices are far and above what an average family can afford. I had to cancel my contact order (albeit custom due to astigmatisms) and they offered to put the balance paid towards eyeglasses. I can't afford to return to utilize my credit so the whole experience was just that, an experience learned.

Although the doctor was nice, I feel like I was robbed. I paid $400 for frames that are no more than $200 ANYWHERE ELSE!!!!! The purchase happened so quickly I just assumed that the price was so high because I wanted thin lenses. I’ve also referred two separate people to this office and they both feel like they were financially taken advantage of. And after spending nearly 1000 dollars for glasses and exam (and I have eye insurance) I still can’t see well. My night vision is worse than before. I will be contacting my insurance company to file a formal complaint. Very disappointed!!!!!!!! Thanks 12/28/18 After seeing the response from the owner I’m more enraged. I will never step foot in your door again. You had no response to your price gouging of glasses. How do you sleep at night? Not to mention when I came in to initially pick up my glasses the owners son was very irritated that I interrupted his lunch. I had my contacts on and he said just try your glasses on over your contacts. For the money I was paying you should’ve taken a minute to ensure the prescription was correct. Nope, just took my money and sent me on my way. It’s also ironic that the owners wife clearly left a positive review. I would say that’s a very biased review. I don’t deal with liars or cheaters. As for now my health insurance and Davis vision is looking into all of the complaints that myself and other associates have.
