Dr. Butcher performed an extensive, thorough examination of my eyes which was very much appreciated considering the issues I have always had with my vision. He provided me with many options going forward in deciding which route to go in my vision journey. I feel he recommended and offered everything he possibly could and he spoke from personal experience and was upfront and his assistant was on point as well. The doctor knew what he was doing which can be extremely hard to find considering my unique case. Marena was an exceptional front-desk staff and the other staff can certainly benefit from her courteous approach in making people feel welcome.

Regarding the Eye Surgery Center: the waiting room is small and crowded! Staff was nice enough, but when you have to sit and wait for several hours (we waited for 2+) it’s really uncomfortable to have chairs squished together and feel like people are practically sitting on top of you. Not at all pleasant!

When I called to make an appointment they checked my insurance and I was told my plan was accepted. The day of my appointment I had to pay $50 up front and was also told I would need to pay another $70 for a contact fitting. I have great insurance so this seemed astronomical to me. Once i was in the room I sat there for 45 min to see the actual doctor.The contact fitting was just the doctor verifying what the tech had already checked. Why they charge so much for is beyond me. To top it off I received another bill for $75. My insurance says this location is out of network but Discover Vision insists they are in fact in network. I am now stuck with this bill because I trusted Discover Vision Center when they checked my insurance. I was misled by this business and they told me there is nothing they can do to help me.

Normal routine eye exam and everything went great! Dr. Butcher is awesome, the only reason that I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because the I tried ordering contacts online and was denied because my RX was only for a eyeglass prescription and not for contacts. When I called Discover Vision they informed me that I "declined" the contact exam, however, the first question I was asked when I went back for the exam was, "are you wearing your contacts right now?" So they apparently knew I was there for a contact prescription or, at least knew that I wore contacts, but ended up only getting a eyeglass prescription. I was never asked of I wanted to decline the contacts exam.

I would gie 5 stars if it weren't for the long wait at this office. I made my appt for 8:00 a.m. in hopes of not having a long wait for once. Another woman signed in ahead of me and guess what - she had an 8:00 a.m. appt with the same dr. I asked the woman at the desk if that could be correct and she said yes, that is the way they book appts. :-( Dr. Butcher would always receive 5 stars from me because he is an excellent doctor, he is thorough and does not make you feel as if he is rushing you out the door. The nurse/technicians are also very good at this facility.

She was telling me my insurance did not cover certain things. I called Eye Med and even they told her they covered it. She then agrued with them. Dr Pate is a doctor who listens to you! He has a conservative approach (when the situation is not urgent of course). Whenever possible, he gives you choices when it comes to the health of your eyes. He is kind, compassionate and yes, he does have a good sense of humor. They are great people and very professional. This is an update of the review above. Sadly, things have not changed at the reception area. The three ladies on duty this week were plain rude and so unfriendly. Please train them or replace them. Can they at least say good morning and smile a bit? They are the first point of contact for customers and of a crucial importance. When my current treatment is through, I'm going elsewhere as there are plenty of competitors who make customers welcome. The excellent Doctors and the nurses in the practice deserve better.

I recommend Dr Glen Pate in the Northland Office. He spent over 30 minutes to check my eyes and to explain the lasik surgery even though it was a free consultation. The technician was very nice and professional also. I was not a good candidate, because my vision changed in the past two years. He wants vision to be stable for a few year before lasik surgery. Dr. Pate said that if had Lasik surgery, I may have to wear glasses. He actually talked out of it for my own sake. I believe he cares for his patients, is very professional and knowledgable. I guess I need to wear glasses for a while then.

I have been going to Dr. Hagan since 1982. He is always been very gracious and always remembers me. I ask him why he hadn't retired and he told me because loves coming to work and loves the people he works with. He does not do surgerys anymore but loves seeing people like me who still come to see him. I am 87 yrs old and I came to him for having shingles on my face and went into my left eye and damaged the cornea. He was attending a convention at the Gold Buffet at the time and would meet me on his lunch hour to put the eye drops into my eye. If it wasn't for him I would be blind in that eye but yes I can still see and with my glasses i have 20-20 vision in right eye and 20-60 in that left eye. Thanks to Dr. Hagan.

Dr. Pate very knowledgable, professional and would highly recommend! I've had several medical issues with my eyes and he always is on top of my care. Doesn't over prescribe for unnecessary care. Truly treats everyone on an individual basis.
