Terrible! The doctor could care less if you get what you need for insurance reimbursement. He put it through the wrong insurance then said oh well, I'll give you a receipt and you can submit it. Staff was clueless, unhelpful and didn't return calls. Go here if money and service do not matter to you. ZERO STARS!

No! Please read reviews before going here ... i wish i had. Two days ago i bought a pair of sunglasses from here. Upon entering the store , an older lady (that i now realize worked there) was with another customer... and didn’t even acknowledge that i had walked in... i was so confused ... i thought she was the other customer’s friend , and that nobody was working there.... considering nobody even looked my way . I was treated like i was legit invisible. After a good 15 minutes of nobody acknowledging me.. i interjected into the conversation the ladies were having ... and that was how i realized the one worked there. I asked to try on a pair of sunglasses... i did & i ended up buying a pair of Gucci glasses for $359. After getting home, i realized i did not like these glasses enough to pay $359 for them ... so i went back less than two days later and tried to return them . After being ignored in the store again for about 10 minutes, the Dr. came out of the back and when he asked what i wanted ... he told me I’d have to come back in 15 minutes Bc he , “didn’t have time for that” right now as he was with a patient in the back. I ran errands around the mall... and returned a good 25-30 min later. The doctor was STILL in the back with the same customer ... when i finally was waited on he quickly said, “no, well we will only give store credit or an exchange.” I said, “uhm nobody told me that ??” The dr then pointed out that it is written very tiny on the bottom of my receipt. I’m pretty sure that legally in a store with a no return policy , the policy needs to be posted somewhere within the store .... also. I have never been into an establishment that enforced that policy ... that didn’t tell you their return policy before the purchase was finalized. So the only way to learn of their policy is to fully make the purchase, and then read the receipt, but then of course it’s too late, right? Weird. To make matters worse ... when i got home i found the exact same pair of sunglasses online for $189. That’s a $170 difference! Angry isn’t even the word.....

First time there I had an appt but the dr was busy and I waited 45 mins. Waited forever for lenses and made 4 phone calls following up. Very unprofessional office. To top it off the dr said my contact lens were too strong and when I picked up the new ones they were EXACTLY the same prescription that I had before!!! Do not go here!

Would love to give zero stars because I was informed that you do not get a prescription for eye glasses even though there is a change. That is a scam to try to get people to buy the frames from them! To top it off, the Dr won't be in to sign the prescription for 2 days. Very unprofessional staff!

I have a love hate relationship with this office. I have been there twice now and Dr. Zimmerman is awesome. He is friendly, intellegint, will not rush you, and seems to genuinely enjoy his job. He will gladly answer any question you have and do his best to make you comfortable. He is professional and qualified in every way you could ask. The woman that most of the complaints seem to revolve around seems to be gone now, and that is a plus since she was as awful as everyone says she was. The eyewear selection is top notch and the new staff seems fine, though still learning. The mark up on the eyewear is high. No doubt about it. That is the most aggravating part about the whole process. We will certainly find frames you want, and then you will pay a hefty sum for them. However, this place seems to be getting an undeserved bad wrap and I think if you are curious a out it, Dr. Z is worth giving a chance.

Good glasses place. I was taken care of well by the associates. I brought my own glasses frames and they were able to make new lenses with my new prescription for them. This place is a bit pricey, but good place over all.

Worst place to go to. They upcharged my frames from retail value at Tom Ford $385 to $654. The gave a paper receipt, not printed. I took it up with my insurace and they said the unfortunate thing is they have no control over what they choose to upcharge frames to.

I am EXTREMELY disappointed with the doctor and his front desk help. My family and i have been going here for years. Even though my husband wasn't completely happy with the service we continued to give them business. My daughter is covered through insurance for an eye exam and contact lens exam every other year. Last year she wasn't covered so i had to pay this office $149.00 for an eye exam, contact exam and sitting fee. This year she was covered and i was charged $129.00 for a contact lens sitting fee. I new the price was extremely inflated so i called two other offices to compare prices. Additionally i just had my exam two weeks prior (same insurance) and paid $44.00 for a contact lens sitting fee at Internal Eye Care. I brought this to the dotor's attention and he he advised that i should go back to Friedberg Eye Associates if i wasn't satisfied. In addition to this issue the lady at the front desk was very rude over the phone because she had given me the incorrect information multiple times and had the nerve to tell me that i would have to call the insurance company if anything else was needed. She actually followed me to the exam room and called me a liar. I had to ask her to stop following me. Nancy previously worked at the front desk for over twenty years so it wasn't this bad. I will be going elsewhere along with my husband and my daughter. He didn't just lose a loyal customer he lost three loyal customers.

If you are thinking about going to Optical World for an eye exam, please reconsider!! My normal eye doctor is all the way out by Atlantic City. I went to them for years because they bill my insurance directly and I only have to pay what they won't cover. Most other places have you pay for everything upfront and then you send receipt to your insurance and get reimbursed. Well Optical World is in the Deptford Mall so it's 5 minutes away instead of 45. I called them and asked specifically if they can bill my insurance directly instead of me paying upfront. They said that would be no problem, I then scheduled an appointment. I got there, got my exam, then picked out frames. Now, their exam cost the same amount as my usual eye doctor, even though this place doesn't have as many tests that the other does. That's odd to me but whatever, Ill take the convenience over a couple extra tests. When I picked out my frames, the woman told me how much it will be and that I'll have to pay half now as a deposit and the other half when I pick them up. Umm....no. I told her that I was told my insurance could be billed directly. She said they cant't do that. At this point, I owe $200 just for the exam. We went back and forth for a few minutes before she said "Oh I mean, we can do that but its not something people usually ask for". That's cool....just send me into a panic and then tell me that everything is fine. So the entire visit (with the exception of the eye doctor who was wonderful) was just frustrating to say the least. Now, 18 days later, I called to see if my glasses are ready because I have yet to receive a call. almost 3 weeks later and I'm told "I'll have to call you back. Apparently they is an issue with your insurance and I have to call them" Excuse me? My insurance has been billed directly from eye doctors for about 6-8 years now. And if there was an issue, wouldn't you know sooner? And shouldn't I have gotten a call like a week or 2 ago when this issue came up? "Apparently there's an issue"....apparently you're incompetent. I was told I'm twice the legally blind limit or number or whatever and my prescription changed drastically since I got my current glasses. I'm already fearful of my eyes getting progressively worse and I can't even get my new glasses because some woman behind a desk can't do her job correctly.I know working with customers isn't easy and all the paper work she does can't be all that great. I feel for her, I do. But this is my declining eyesight we're talking about here. This is my health.

I wish I would have read the reviews before I went to this place. After several attempts to find the correct contact lens for me and after months of fittings I gave up. The doctor insisted the script was correct and the lens were fitted properly, even when I continuously told him they were unctand I could not see. He ordered me another script while I wore the incorrect lens he gave me as I had no other choice. I have glasses but I can’t see very well from those either. Also the lens he gave me tore very easily. He did give me two pair and both pairs tore. I have worn contact lens all of my life and know how to handle them. While waiting for weeks for the new script to come in I called and asked for another pair because both pair of lenses had torn. He refused because he said he had already given me two pair. I told him I would pay and he said no, wear my glasses. I explained that I can’t see out of my glasses and he still refused. I then asked for my script and he refused. When I reminded him that it is against the law to withhold a script he said if I wanted it then come in. I asked if he would fax or email it to me and he refused and told me that I don’t appreciate what he’s done for me which was nothing! I had to make an appointment with another doctor and I will be reporting him to the BBB since I now have to pay cash! His receptionist is just as mean. Please do not waste your time or money. Horrible place!

If you walk into this place in a good mood...it will surely change to a bad mood fast. We will never go back to this place EVER AGAIN. Dr. Zimmerman was good, but the older lady there was horrible. She bored me telling me her life story (family problems), all 4 of our glasses were terrible in how they were made, and i went to get my sons script to go somewhere else & she had given me one from 2 yrs ago. I have called the better business brough thats how bad it was. One last thing...ive tried to call to come in to have my glasses fixed & to talk to the dr & the older lady tried to get me to come in when he wasnt there. SHADY if you ask me.

They wanted $400 for a pair of Chesterfield frames. I had another place order them. They costed $145 and my insurance covered $125. They didn't clean their machines prior to use. The field of vision test is done in a cramped up room. The doctor was knowledgeable, but everything else was terrible. I was there for 3.5 hours for a simple eye exam. This is a very "no frills" optometry office. The bare minimum is done.

Beware of this business. The saleswoman misrepresented our insurance benefits and tried to get us to disregard benefits and pay cash. When I called the insurance company and tried to clarify with her, she was repeatedly deceitful and evasive. When I asked for the manager, she would not provide the manager's name, and would only provide her first name. Stay away.

The transition I paid for stop working...unheard of. Every pair of glasses I every owned this has never happened. I went to tell them about it and was told they would get back to me. Two weeks later after not getting a call back I went to the store. The sales eep was helping someone so this man dressed in a suite asked me if he could help. I told him my situation, he pulled my file and said the lady would have to help me. I said I have two other concerns. He cut me off and said I have to tell her. I said you don't know what they are? He said I don't want to how to repeat them to her. At that point I made up my mind I would not be coming back and would share this experience. She told me she was busy and that's why she didn't get back to me. I told her it's unheard of that the transition stopped working and when you sold me the glasses you didn't tell me there was a limitation on how long they would work. I will not be going back because of deceitfulness and customer service. Should be 0 stars...couldn't figure out how to edit that portion...

The Dr. was excellent and they have a great choice of designer glasses but he has to fire the woman who works there. I never saw anybody so incompetent. She ignores every question you ask about insurance and questions about the glasses and is so slow. She told me I had to pay half and the balance on pick up. But she said she made a mistake and put the entire amount on my card. I told her it was ok because I could not wait to get out if there . I don't think I will go back unless she isn't there!!!

Last week I took my 8 yr old for his first eye exam, during the visit the Dr stepped out twice and the desk clerk came in 3 times to durning a 6 min exam. When I returned the call that his glasses was in I told the secretary I would come the following day since they had abbreviated hours per her that evening. A few hours later the Dr called at 9:07 PM to tell me my son missed his appointment. (Crazy he has no appointment it was the week prior) So tonight when we picked up his glasses they was crooked and needed adjusting they were also covered In Sticky stuff, after driving 45 minutes I was told oh I don’t adjust them u have to come back ☹️ So unprofessional ☹️

Big improvements. The new assistant is much friendlier and helpful. The doctor has always been good. They could really use a computer to speed up service even more.

jessica zgorski

Terrible experience! Way too overpriced for frames and lenses, never gave me my prescription when I asked a ton of times if I could please get it I was told I do not need it also when I asked for my receipt ite I was told they do not have a computer and can not give me it. I checked my card to see how much was taken from it it had said $855 and half of the things where made up numbers for my visit, prescription a lenses.

Tyler Garrett

Dr. Zimmerman was great, but one of the other employees is incompetent, lazy, blind, and stupid. She wastes your time and bores you to death when you have to speak to her. And the worst part is they confused me about whether or not I have the correct prescription now. Never going back. Oh, and the glasses I got (while free w/ insurance) were bent when I received them. Edit: For some reason I went back. Same exact story. Doctor was fine. Old hag just wants to talk. If she starts telling a story, just walk out. So annoying. A waste of time. Seriously never going back and changing to 1 star. Cannot believe how terrible she is. Not to mention, the Ray-Bans I bought had a slight crack on the inner part of the lens. I didn't take them back because I don't want to deal with her again.

sherry billups

Went it to look at glasses and was appalled by the customer service. Do not expect me to ever come back!!!!
