I waited over a month for my glasses. No one ever called me to let me know they were in when they finally arrived. I was constantly having to call them for an update on my order, most of the time getting transferred to someone’s phone who wasn’t even there. Worst experience I’ve ever had at an optometrist’s office. I will never go back.

On TWO different occasions the person who recorded my appointment made it for the wrong date. ARGG! I'm pissed off. When I called and said hey! You keep recording my appointments for the wrong date, I got attitude and was told take the new appointment or drop it. Not, "we'll look into why this is happening for you." Now I'm going back in, on a new appointment because they got my prescription wrong for the left eye of my glasses. What in the hell?? Now, Dr. Kenneth Ridder is *really* great there, but the supporting staff on the phone are beyond ridiculous, and their lens manufacturer, incompetent. Save your self a ton of time, money and literal headaches. Never Again.

I've been having my annual eye exam at Vision Care Specialist for three or four years now. The staff is always upbeat and professional. I tend to ask a lot of questions during the exam process, and I always get a clear and complete answer, even as everyone works to keep the schedule moving along on time. I'm extremely impressed with Dr. Ridder's patience in explaining all elements of my exam. Additionally, it's clear that he keeps up with current research and incorporates new and beneficial information and treatments into his practice.

VCS is the most rad place ever. If you need to get your eyes checked, this is definitely the place. The downtown location is the best by far, as the manager Julie is awesome and the front office/optical staff (Andrew, Yvette, Paige, Adrian, Matt, and Louis) are extremely knowledgeable. The technicians are well-trained, technically knowledgeable, and patient. Oh yeah, and I almost forgot to mention the docs there. Every exam I have received has been thorough, accurate, and well-explained to me since I have absolutely no idea what those numbers and figures mean. Figuratively speaking, if the VCS downtown team were in a battle of the bands competition, they would win hands down because they rock.

Overall it was good, just the check-out employee who helped me order glasses and contacts was awkward and didn't seem to know what she was doing. That, however, was the only poor thing I have to say. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for an optometrist downtown.

Loved my visit here! I researched a lot before finding an eye doc or place to go in Denver. I wear contacts and glasses and am very peculiar about what doctors I go to. It is very clean and nice here and they have all the new state of the art type equipment. I felt like they were very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. I didn't feel like anyone was trying to rush me in and out. The only downfall (which isn't a huge deal) is that it is downtown so you need to find parking and most of the parking in the area is not free (I think I paid $8 in a public lot a few blocks away). This isn't anything crazy terrible though compared to the great service and experience!

I was a little confused at the beginning because I was told that the retina exam was optional and the doctor said it is mandatory, but after discussing it, they figured it out for me and I really appreciate that. They are well equipped and the doctor I saw was pretty knowledgeable. The frames are little pricey but they have a great stylish selection. They are pretty quick with the orders and the staff is very responsive and friendly.

I ended up paying 1000 plus $ and at the end they refused to give me my glasses which 1st: they forgot to send it for changing lenses and 2 weeks process ended up 4 weeks, 2nd because of 150 $ remaining balance which I still don’t know what was that for. Horrible experience.

I only can praise the services of 'Vision Care Specialists': - we immediately got an appointment scheduled (within 1 hour after the call) - the diagnosis was complete and 'down to the point' - the medication was appropriate - the total costs were more than reasonable (compared to German standards) I'd go there again anytime without any hesitation

Horrible Customer Service!! I was in about a year ago for an exam and new pair of glasses and it was just fine so decided to come back this year for my contact lens exam. Completely different experience... They no longer validate parking and it took me a while to find a garage that was not full or street space at 12:15 in the afternoon. I showed up about 5 minutes late and the receptionist was totally snotty about it. Then she was trying to get me to sign some form which indicated I would have to pay $190 additional out of pocket. I called her out on it and she was inconsistent in her response. I then called my insurance company and confirmed a $20 copay for eye exam and benefits for $120 towards lenses. As I relayed this information to her she told me that the doctor went to lunch and could no longer see me and they could maybe fit me in tomorrow. Keep in mind I just drove from south of DTC and missed 2 meetings at work in order to accommodate this stupid appt. Finally the lady who fitted me for my glasses last year intervened and tried to get me in sooner. The best they could do was 2 hours later and there was no way I was going to sit and wait for two additional hours at this point. I left and will never go back. There are plenty of other optometrists in Denver and I will go to someone else next time.

I went to Vision Care Specialists in 2015, worked with Louis and was absolutely thrilled. In July of last year, I needed new glasses and I made a simple request: get me clear and dark glasses exactly like my last pair. It took 6 weeks. The continued excuse was the frame company is in Germany. Okay. Five years ago I flew to Germany in 12 hours. Fast forward to 2 weeks ago . My new Lunor clear glasses broke (after less than 12 months) and I was assured it would be 2 weeks. Today, I was told it would be another 3 weeks. I'm sorry, but I could make that part in 5 weeks. This customer service is horrible and no matter how much I like Lunor , I will never go with a frame manufacturer out of the US. The least Vision Care Specialists could have done would be to warn of the ridiculously long time frames for service .

First and only time I will use Vision Care Specialists. When I went in they asked if I wanted to dilate my eyes or have photos taken in order to have the doctor review the overall health of my eyes. Dilation was covered by my insurance and the photos were an additional charge. I told the doc I wanted to do dilation and not have the extra expense. She said in order for her to see the health of the eye photos are better bc it allowed her to zoom in but she wouldn't charge me due to it being her preference. When checking out of my appointment they charged me anyway. During my appointment I mentioned being interested in glasses bc it had been a few years since getting new ones. This turned into another appointment in itself. He didn't show me anything that was of interest and then tried to tell me that if I used my insurance to get contacts instead of glasses I would be paying around $293 just for contacts. That seemed completely incorrect to me and when I checked out at the from desk after meeting with him it was like $150. It was a weird visit overall but now I have been waiting over a week for my contacts and had to call back twice in order to get any update on when they might arrive. They are now telling me I will be waiting a month for my contacts to be delivered. I have never waited that amount of time and have been wearing contacts 22 years. I'll never go here again.

I really value the approach that Vision Care Specialists took when addressing my contact lens needs. I've had issues wearing contact lenses and they gave me three different samples to try at my own leisure. In the past I have had to try all three at the office and I end up with irritated eyes and no sense of what felt good over a long period of time. She, and the other staff at Vision Care Specialists, are warm and friendly and care about their patients. Luckily, Paige walked me through some models that fit my face and personality well, and ultimately helped me select frames that we both liked. The welcoming environment makes it hard not to enjoy your time at the eye doctor's office, which is not something I thought I'd ever say.
