Very knowledgable staff. One on one care. Quality products. Bought two pair of eyeglasses from them. They were exactly what I was looking for. Someone greets you right away. I walked in and out of several places before finding Isthmus. They were like a breath of fresh air.

They're always friendly and understanding.They have their top priorities set to help you and your family find the best solutions for your eye care needs. They are a smaller business so the amount of selected frames are not the same as others but the ones they have are top notched. They have advanced equipment and use clinical knowledge combined with skills that we all think insurance should be considered as part of the care they provide. Their prices are less than others for glasses and sunglasses after what my insurance coverage is. That is just some of the reasons I keep going back to them as my hometown favorite.

I was referred to Isthmus Eye Care a few years ago after having so many problems with eye care in the Dells/Baraboo/Reedsburg area. I have never had a problem until this year when my new eyewear lenses came back wrong. They figure out the problem and fixed it hassle free. The staff are all such a terrific bunch, and they go out of their way to make sure you have what you need to see. Thank you to all the staff, I would drive 100 mile to have the care you have given to me.

Good for VISION TESTS only - not medical emergencies! - no OPHTHALMOLOGISTS only OPTOMETRISTS here. My spouse was diagnosed with Anterior Uveitis in October 2018 and in panic we rushed here as her eye was red and she couldn't touch it and was very light sensitive. Dr. Colin V Connors started steroid use and asked us to come in EVERY WEEK to monitor it. We ended up having 9 visits with no improvement, and had I not pushed for a solution and question, we could still be visiting Isthmus and returning with the same diagnosis. That was $450 in co-pays. We went to an ophthalmologist on our own decision (once Dr. Colin, was asked several times what's going on, he then suggested we could visit a specialist for an opinion) This was after 8 visits to Isthmus Eye Care. At this point Dr. Colin, asked us to double the dose of the strongest steroid which was available, WHICH WE DIDNT DO, UNTIL WE MET THE SPECIALIST. The specialist, only asked us to return in a MONTH, and to continue same dose of steroid (not the suggested double dose earlier). We have had 3 specialist visits and they were requested in MONTHLY durations. It was clear that the WEEKLY VISITS above to no avail was a waste of money. They will try to make every attempt to loot you. Even during eye exams, additional tests are done, without advising you of added costs.

Absolutely scummy business, avoid at all cost. Charged and took unnecessary test that they did not ask us if we wanted. Straight up lied to us regarding our coverage on our insurance and tried to trick my wife to buy items that were absolutely covered. If you can go anywhere else, I am never coming back.

Doctor Wilson is excellent, but two out of three techs we dealt with lately were rushed, unfriendly, pushy, and just unpleasant. I have been going there for years, but something has changed, and I think it's time to switch eye doctors.

Nice staff and (almost painfully) thorough exam. They fail to mention their Optomap Retinal Eye Exam is $40, and not covered by insurance (not mine anyway), until the end of the exam. So be sure to decline this if you wish (they should ask). YMMV.

Today was my first visit and I could not have been more impressed! Receptionist was super welcoming and the waiting room was complete with beverages for my toddler and me. The technician was personable and patient as having my daughter with me provided an extra challenge. The doctor was great! He was attentive and took the time to explain to me the exam, the results, my images, and various options for eye wear and care. I will most definitely be going back!

Our family were long time customers. Back in the day when salesperson Ken was still around, it was actually fun going to their office. The doctors are still great and the exams are thorough. However, the assistant staff and the sales personnel are not always friendly and often quite pushy. Very unpleasant, because you always know it is coming - the sales gig. Back in the day the assistants use to warn you upfront about everything what is not covered by insurance (Optomap Retinal Eye Exam is $40). Now (as a part of the sales gig?) this information is not even being mentioned. And you always feel pushed towards that exam. After your appointment the sales staff tries really hard to sell you glasses and almost gets angry if you don't - it's crazy! If you ask to print out your prescription without buying, you might get an eye-roll (I did!). Just really no fun going there anymore. I don't deal well with pushy people. Hope it will change in the future, but for now our family will be going some place else.

As the Reading Specialist of my school district, I have recommended them to the parents of a few of my students that I feel may have vision difficulties.
