DESCRIPTION

You have all the reviews of real people who used the services of John Chong, MD (Ophthalmologist) in the state of West Virginia.

At this moment the firm gets a rating of 3.3 out of 5 and that score is based on 15 reviews.

You may have noticed that its rating is average, neither too high nor too low, and it's based on a large number of feddbacks, so we may say that the assessment is very credible. If there are many people who bothered to leave their opinion when they've done well, it works.

As you know, we do not usually bother to place scores when they are correct and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...

This Ophthalmologist is classified in the category of Ophthalmologist.

He was one of referred doctor by my child's pediatric office and he was the closest one available so I went to see him. Staff was ok but as a first time parents and having a child who might need glasses at age of 3 I was nervous, anxious, and full of questions. He did not address or resolved my questions beside the fact that my daughter needed corrective glasses and basically IMO wasn't a pleasant person. I have visited other Pediatric ophthalmologist office after visiting here as for second opinion and realized that other doctors were more patient and gentle with my 3 years old and answered all my concerns even before I asked them. If you need a pediatric ophthalmologist I would recommend you to look somewhere else unless it's just annual checkup.

Please avoid this doctor. Very very very rude. And he did not help my wife after 2 visits, so not even competent. We went to another doctor in Sterling after my wife’s got really red. It turns out we should not put a wet hot towel on her eyes like Chong suggested which made the inflammation worse. After I came out of his office, I felt like I came out of an argument. His rude attitude works you up. He needs to learn empathy as he is a doctor. Also, he kept pushing his glaucoma testing to us and went ahead did some of the testing prior to next visit which made me suspicious that he just wanted to sell us that service and bill us for it. However, his staff is nice from the receptionist to the billing person. Just avoid this guy. I’ll also tell MyEyeDr optometrist to stop recommending this guy.

I hate to give this review, but this doctor was dishonest and his staff were unreliable. When I called to make a cataract surgery appointment for my dad, his staff KNOWINGLY booked the appt even though this doctor does NOT do cataract surgery. The doctor apologized about his staff scheduling an appt for a procedure he does NOT do, but he still allowed us to go through with a 30 minute long, prodding eye exam--even though we asked before the exam started, "My dad is here only for a cataract surgery. In your opinion, should he get the surgery?" The doctor simply said, "We'll see after the exam." After the exam, he said, "Unfortunately, I don't do cataract surgery." He let us go through with the exam knowing FULL WELL he could not help us and that we would need to pay ANOTHER co-pay at ANOTHER ophthalmology JUST so he could take the money. It really is disappointing to run into doctors like him who are willing to lie just to make more money at the expense of others.

Dr. Chong is extremely focused and care about the safety and health of his clients. I have been going to his practice for years now and I am always satisfied with the consultations and tests. Thank you!!!!!

The worst personality ever. If this guy wants to still have customers, he should have less of an attitude and be way more patient with people. Incredibly rude doctor. Nice staff. Not only is the guy rude, but he snatches things out of your hands. Hope this guy switches jobs or something lol

Dr Chong is very knowledgeable and experienced in his field. I was very satisfied to the service he has rendered on me.

Tim Cotten

Very helpful and friendly to my 4 year old son. Made us feel at ease and the play area was nice too! Took the time to explain his reasoning and was patient with my little buddy.

Took my kid to get an exam for annual checkup. This was my first time taking my child to here. I don't think Dr Chong is friendly to kids. Little kids cannot understand and respond things fast like adult. Even adult responds to things little slow sometimes. Dr asked my child to look up and down but my child was little slow here and there. He shouted out loud to her several times when she wasn't responding to him right away. She was pretty good but Dr was little too fast. Maybe my child had to think before she moves her eyes or maybe she just didn't understand. She is only 3 years old. At that age, they don't understand everything. He was rushing the exam too. There was no patient waiting. I believe we were the last ones. Not sure if I am going back here again.

I have been seeing Dr. Chong for about 4 years and have been very satisfied with his outstanding staff and his professional capabilities. I highly recommend him. I was referred to him by my private care physician.

Kim Devine

Dr. Chong and his staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. They were very thorough and explained things well to my ten year old son so he understood the exam.

Took my near-sighted five year old daughter to John Chong for her first pair of glasses. Had the glasses made somewhere else, and she hated wearing them, and wasn't getting used to them. Turns out that we were given a prescription for strongly far-sighted lenses. I don't know or care why a near-sighted patient was given a prescription for far-sighted lenses, but a pediatric ophthalmologist signing the _opposite_ prescription for a five year old girl's first pair of glasses to go into kindergarten is entirely unacceptable. The follow-up appointment is cancelled and I will be telling my pediatrician to stop recommending Virginia Adult and Pediatric Opthalmology.

We have been seeing Dr. Chong for several years and have found him to be a consistently excellent ophthalmologist. We have not had the negative experiences reported by others posting here. Dr. Chong has always been friendly and personable to us, even though the office is often busy and on a tight schedule. He is very knowledgable and the staff are pleasant and efficient.

My daughter has been going to Dr. Chong for about 5 years. She's eleven. He can be brusque at times, but overall he's a great eye doctor and we have been happy with the service he provides. Wait times in the office can be long, but they have a cute waiting area for the kids where they can watch movies. He's always been friendly with my child. Not overly so, but that's not always necessary.
