Worth the wait! These are the region’s best ophthalmologists and it shows! The staff is calm, professional and doesn’t miss a beat if there is a patient that needs extra assistance. The technicians go out of their way to answer questions and to explain the tests, drops, surgery options, etc. The level of cooperation among the staff is impressive. At my appointment today It was humbling to see the number of patients and the variety of eye issues they treat yet they do it with a smile and friendly concern and took the time to make sure I understood my condition and treatment plan. Thank you VEC! I will be back with my family and friends!
My family and I have been a long time patients of Virginia Eye Consultants- for a number of reasons. First and foremost; the staff and the providers are five-star... not only do they help heal your eyes, but they also become part of your family and support system! Secondly, the technology is unparalleled. I KNOW my eyes are in great care. Highly recommend.
Be prepared for a long wait time when coming here. I have been a patient here for over 8 years and each time I come to the Norfolk office there is a 30+ min wait to get checked in and start your appointment. After your tests are completed there is another 20+ min wait to see doctor. Today there were not enough seats in the waiting room to accommodate all the patients. I still come here because Dr. Shepard is one of the best doctors for my condition but wish they were more efficient with patient scheduling and wait times
Yes! They are very nice; however I have come to this office with/for family, friends and myself. They take to long! The visits are way over done; you go to 10 rooms in 1 visit. "Why is an Appointment at 12noon and the patient will see the Doctor at 1:30pm. You do not leave until 3pm, or later. It is awful. Please change this policy....
Accompanied my mother. The wait time is ok. Staff is very friendly and helpful to assuage the wait related frustration. However the doctor provided the least customer service I've ever experienced. Never introduced himself to me, didn't communicate the status of her condition (she shouldn't drive), nor anything else. Boo!
I was provided excellent service for my eye procedures. My doctor and all staff members were very professional. My sight is improving nicely. Therefore, I look forward to making much more progress as time goes by.
The down time was only one day
Just like last year. Dr Sterling cancelled my appointment. A full month out. It seems some patients are more important than others. Must be good to be great enough to treat others like that. I'm expected to change my travel plans because I'm not one of the special patients
Very good doctors, very poor admin staff. The wait time is from 20 to 40 from your appointment time, the explanation of charges is different from what was quoted upfront. The technician and doctors do their job well, the low rating is for organization overall
Very friendly staff and reception area. It was my 1st visit they made sure you feel comfortable by having a complimentary coffee and snack bar. It was a long wait but I was a new patient so I had expected that. Why 4 stars?? because when meeting the Dr. I really felt rushed she also had an intern who looked at my eye at the end then said "ok thanks bye" When the Dr came in I felt i was only given 1 option for my services (which my insurance doesnt cover) but found out several options as i got home. Its a beautiful facility but im sure they are taken advantage of thr low income patients. But other than that i would recommend a visit here just make surr you ALWAYS ask questions.
After an exam in their Hampton office, they scheduled an interview in Suffolk, which is a major drive for my husband and me, as we are both in our '80's. There we were held hostage for three hours until we signed a multitude of documents agreeing to an expensive operation, which could only be performed in a Southside facility. The left eye was a fair success, with lower pressure, but vision only slightly improved. The second operation was a major disaster, with both vision and pressure worse than before the operation. They scheduled a post op exam in Suffolk, (to which they had switched from the Hampton office) twenty minutes after the operation. After a trip to Suffolk at breakneck speeds, we arrived 15 minutes late, only to find it was a wasted effort, because the doctor couldn't see anything because of all the blood. The trip home during rush hour with the tunnel backup was no fun. Except for that fruitless post-op exam, we have had to wait a full 2 hours after arriving before seeing a doctor for every exam or surgery. I can't understand that indifference, in view of the many reviews that praise short wait times. Now I am taking 7 medications, including 2 very expensive ones, nothing is improving, and I am being warned of the necessity of a second operation. On the plus side, the people are mostly pleasant, and it is comforting to know that the owner actually reads these reviews.
This place always have very long waits why do they over book ive never been in and out ofbthis place appointments will be set for 1:00 and you never get seen till 2:30 and that juat to dialate your pupils then back to the waiting room another 2 hours today we are sitting in the waiting area outside the room on top floor only thing this place has going for it self is the coffee on level 1 and you will need that cause you get sleepy
Doctors Yeu and Cheung both assured me that they would solve my problem. That was an understatement. They listened, asked questions and Today I see better than before.
I had an excellent experience with Virginia Eye Consultants. The facility was extremely clean and comfortable, the check in process was easy and the Front Desk staff was very professional. The staff did a great job of walking me through every step of the appointment and Dr. Cheung was professional.
I have been going to this facility for the last 6+ years, and I am very very very happy with the professional attitude of the staff.
I work for a hospital company and could only HOPE that they could deliver customer service anywhere NEAR how they work with their clients. I have been constantly impressed from the first visit...the extensive workup and now after surgery. Highly recommend without reservation. Dr. Joly and his staff are among the first I have encountered anywhere
First off I'd like to say that I don't enjoy watching Fox news while I wait HOURS for my Dr. Appt. With that out the way, my mother and grandmother go here and the wait times are always ridiculous!! I specifically asked for the first appointment of the day in order to avoid the wait. I have been here since 7:20 this morning. It is now 8:30 and the doctor (Dr. Salieb) isnt even here yet!! I have a friend who works here and she told me he consistently runs late due to dropping his kids off at school but they still schedule him for first thing in the morning. If he can't be here at the agreed upon time then they should schedule his clients later in the day.
we set up a payment plan and they never sent me an invoice. I went online to pay online and the invoice was not posted so their system would not let me pay. I called several times to correct the issue and on one occasion they were able to post the invoice. They wanted me to make payments without having an invoice and I would not. I finally got an invoice and started my payments. I had a family issue and left the area for a month missing one payment and they sent me to collection costing me 33 percent more than the cost. Stay away...
Appointment was at 1245, I checked in at 1230. It is now 2p and I am still sitting in the lobby. I will NOT come back here regardlessof how congenial or effective the doctor is. This is unacceptable.
I would not recommend this place to anyone You walk in the office greats you with open arms so you think you are in good hands right-WRONG. Know one tells you that there is going to be a long wait its a joke. I kid you not I waited to be seen for over 3hrs then I got rushed to a young women who went over my surgery and payments she went so fast mine head along with my wife was spinning we had no idea what she was talking about. She checked my insurance I asked several times is this all that I have to pay she said many times yes. So for those of you that are going to have surgery beware on top of what I paid that day (the amount she told me) I ended up paying almost $2000 more after my insurance. I kept calling the billing department to question why none of them had a good answer just that is what you signed I never signed to pay over what I was told. My wife called to question the bill she got no where either I asked to speak to the billing manager she got ugly with me. Then surprise I started getting past due letters then more of a big surprise got a couple days ago I found out I went to collections so I called the billing department to find out why they sent me here was the next joke the women who answered all I kept being told was how she was new and shes not sure if it was a mistake when she sent me WHAT???? she was rude and didnt know how to handle the call, I got passed to someone else that said call the collection agency here let me transfer you and hung up on me Iam done will never go back
This is a great place to get your eyes taken care of. Dr. Scoper did PRK corrective surgery for me years ago and other eye doctors that I have seen since have always commented on the great job he did. Some said if I hadn't mentioned the surgery they wouldn't have been able to tell I had it done. As others have mentioned, yes, the wait can be a bit long at this location but the wait is well worth it. I highly recommend this establishment.
One and half hour waiting after the original appointment to find out that the doctor is not even in the clinic. Bad practice
I had a great experience at Virginia eye care from the moment we stepped in the front door to the check out process. The staff were all very friendly and helpful and explained everything so I could understand them.
Very professional atomosphere. I appreciate how well organized they are. The wait times are a bit to handle but they move swiftly to get to everyone. They are good with accommodating those who need assistance. They maintain clean bathrooms, clean waiting areas, and keep yummy refreshments available as you wait.
My appointment was at 10:30am... 12:46pm and am still waiting to see the doctor!
The entire Dry Eye team is top notch! They knew just the right questions to ask about what I was experiencing with my eyes and after a thorough screening process, recommended the ideal treatment for me. Dr. Yeu is a gifted physician and I could not be in better hands.
Thank you doctor Jay C. Starling and staff !!! You are best doctor and best human being!
Very nice place to see..
If I could give this place 0 stars I would, the nurse was really nice but one of the women doctors that came in the room was poking my eye with her finger because she was moving to fast and she wouldn’t let me talk or explain myself, she was talking over me and I tried to tell her my symptoms but she described something totally different then what I described my eye still aches and I see colorful dots and she said theirs nothing wrong with my eyes, that’s not fair at all.
I found the Eye Cnsultation a very interesting process. I went in at 8 and was finished by 11:30. I think because I was warned ahead of time that it would be a long process, and I was thus prepared, it went better than I expected. It seemed that after each test was done and I was shown to a waiting area, by the time I settled in to work a puzzle or read something on my Tablet, they would call me for the next test. I was impressed with the facility and the professionalism. Everyone with whom I came in contact (about eight different technicians not including the Doctor) was friendly, pleasant, polite and knowledgeable. Special kudos to the assistant to Doctor Okeke and Dr. Okeke herself. The assistant explained in detail, with visual aids, my condition, what I could expect from my procedure, as well as insurance policies and procedures. Dr. Okeke, after reviewing my records and test result was honest and professional as she explained that although cataracts are present, cataract removal was not warranted for me at this time. My total experience was a pleasant one, And when the time comes that I will need their services, I’ll be happy to return.
This was my second time at Virginia Eye Consultants. I was welcomed and greeted with a genuine smile today!!! Regina, Kenny, Dr. Schiffbauer, Megan and Emily all worked together as a team!!! Ken went the extra mile and brought me a soothing blanket to take away the chills while I waited!!! Most of all it was a great visit, with alot of courtesy, and a lot of tender loving care!!!
My mom had cataract surgery in June and her vision has gotten even worst. I’m at Emergency Room with her at this moment. I would say Virginia Eye Care is the worst place to go for cataract surgery.
This is a big organization but I didn't get the feeling of a small fish in a big pond. I was impressed with the patient flow system, the knowledge of the staff and Dr. Scoper was personable as well as thorough. I wasn't a candidate for what I had hoped for but he introduced other options I was unaware of. Being in the medical field myself, I have high expectations - the administrative team, as well as Dr. Scoper and his team delivered.
