Dr. Schefkind is a FANTASTIC doctor! Since the first appointment he has been extremely friendly and attentive to all of my questions and concerns. Yesterday he performed my cataract surgery. I cannot begin to express just how great an experience it was. It was a completely comfortable and pain-free proceedure. I literally have had no pain or discomfort of any kind since coming home either! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND DR. SCHEFKIND!!

I was referred to Schefkind Eye Care by my local physician after my Delaware ophthalmologist of many years retired. It was time to find somebody locally that could fill the shoes of someone in whom I had the utmost of confidence for many decades. I cannot find the words to express just how positively impressed I am with the care I received from the office of Schefkind Eye Care. Starting with the friendly and knowledgeable front office staff, the professionalism and thoroughness of the staff performing refractions, to the responsiveness of physicians in the practice to seeing one on short notice or promptly returning a call are all unequaled in my experience. I primarily received eye care from Dr. Edward Chay whom treated me for a very rapidly deteriorating vision in both eyes. He methodically and patiently ruled out the potential of any underlying severe eye disease processes before isolating my condition to rapidly maturing cataracts induced by medications I am using to treat other health conditions. The loss of vision in my left eye, in a short period of time, went from 20/20 or better to practically being blind in it for all intents an purposes. Dr. Chay explained the options available to me for an intra-ocular lens replacement to restore my vision as well as the surgical options available to affect the lens implantation. He did this in a factual manner by explaining the differences among the many options and by answering myriad of questions I had about pluses and minuses related to these options. I eventually chose to proceed with a multifocal lens and laser assisted surgery. Starting with the left eye on March 19, 2018 and finalizing the right eye surgery on April 16, 2018, today my vision in both eyes is 20/20 and better without glasses and I am able to read for the most part without them as well. There is no doubt in my mind that Dr. Chay’s priority is indeed a commitment to develop a strong doctor-patient partnership as his biographical note describes and his bedside manner demonstrates. Beyond this desirable attribute, Dr. Chay also exudes a real passion for the science and art of his profession which manifested itself in the outstanding results achieved in restoring my vision to levels I never imagined would ever return. I have already highly recommended Dr. Chay and Schefkind Eye Care to family and friends as the ophthalmologists of choice in my book.

I’m amazed. Just a few weeks ago I had zero visibility in the right eye, due to a huge cataract. Then Dr. Schefkind performed laser surgery on it and now I can see perfectly out of the right eye. He’s a top-notch physician; gentle chair side manner and great communicator. Post surgery, my 2-week follow up appointment was with Dr. Chay and he was outstanding; explained things very clearly to me and patiently answered my questions. This medical practice is run very smoothly and is well organized. The entire team is courteous and very professional; the front desk personnel are always helpful and kind and the technicians assisting the doctors are so patient and diligent in their aim for accuracy. The surgical coordinator makes all your appointments up front, pre- and post-surgery, and is a real pro at it. This medical practice does its best to make everything easy for its patients. The pre- and post-surgery instructions are written out so clearly — and even includes pictures — it makes it so much easier on the patient, especially with so many steps involved when preparing for the surgery. I’m so grateful to Dr. Schefkind and the entire A-Team at Schefkind Eye Care. Best of the best!!

Both doctors are great. I saw Dr. S. for cataracts, all preliminary appointments and surgeries. He is kind and matter of fact with still have a pleasant demeanor. Usually the office wait time is brief, which is always nice. My glasses follow up wth Dr. Chay was informative and it felt like a seamless transition between doctors. If you have FSA government benefits, the front desk may not understand it fully. The actual billing is done elsewhere, so don't expect a form from this office to work if you fax it in. It doesn't have enough information. So we are still following up on paperwork, but it appears that the information goes through on its own. I'd would trust my eyes to those guys again. Good staff and cataract surgery is just fine. No worries.

I have gone to Dr Shefkind for over 30 years. The most knowledgeable and kind person. He always answers all your questions and take time to listen to you. You don't feel rush in and out . If you have an emergency they will squeeze you in immediately. They take good care of their clients. When I speak with someone in the waiting room, they always said how much they love this place especially Dr Schefkind.

I was very impressed with Dr. Chay and his staff. My mother has dementia They spoke in terms that she could understand, and were very patient, kind, and caring. I would have given them five stars, but his assistant, Loraine was not so kind. I tried to explain to her a problem we were having with medication. She cut me off and was very condescending. It was very embarrassing and frustrating. The next visit I told her how I and my mother felt about the previous appointment, her response was"yep". Disappointed that we had this experience. Overall, Dr. Chay is excellent.
