Dr. Parellhoff has been my doctor since I was five. He is the main reason my family and I come back every time for another check up. He is knowlegable, funny, and incredibly kind. If you need an optometrist, choose none other than Dr. Parellhoff at Eye Consultants of NoVa. The Best, hands down.

Today 7/1/2019 at 9:20 am I called the office two times to make an appointment and both two times I waited so long, but unfortunately, when the lady in the office answered the phone, then she hung up the phone for both times. I even did not have a chance to say hello or a word. BAD SERVICE! Eye Consultant of Northern Virginia PC should look into this issue!

This place is so incredibly unprofessional. Each time I’ve called to make an appointment, I’ve never gotten a live person-only a voicemail to leave a message “and someone will call me back.” Actually, the voicemail should say “leave a message and keep calling us back because it’s highly likely you won’t get a return phone call”-regardless of the urgency. If by some luck, you are able to get a live person to make an appointment, you will be asked to arrive 15 minutes early, only to be left sitting for a MINIMUM of 30-45 minutes prior to being whisked away by some tech. This tech will proceed to ask you basic questions and ask you to read an eye chart, for what reason is unclear. Then they will wisk you into another, smaller, cramped waiting room to be told it will be at least another 30-45 wait to see the doctor! From other reviews, this appears to be a consistent complaint. I have no complaints with the doctor’s care, but my God, if this were my practice, I would be furious at the way it’s being run! We all know one bad review cancels 20 positive ones. I’ll will end by saying that I was in the company of two other patients who obviously had experienced the same lengthy delays as they were clearly frustrated as well. The good news is that today is the age of the internet and smartphones. I was able to make a same day appointment with a different practice (who chooses to answer their phones) as I was sitting in the second waiting room. So, I walked out and headed to the new drs office. Their care was above and beyond, and guess what? They didn’t keep me waiting for two hours!

In no other clinic, no doctor devote so much time and attention as Eye Consultants. Thank you, all doctors, assistants and nurses for your work so far. It gives me hope to get my vision back in the near future. Again, thank you very much.

My pediatrician recommended this place for my son and our experience was awful. The receptionist told me they only see children between 12-2 which is right in the middle of nap time. I made an appointment for 12 pm and left at 1:45 because we still hadn't seen the doctor! Nearly two hours of waiting with two kids who were supposed to be napping and going crazy. They also informed me that once the doctor came in it would be another 2 hours. I'm sorry but 4 hours for a doctor appointment for a 3 year old is completely unacceptable.

The actual appointment was fine, no complaints there. It was trying to get the new prescription filled which was shady. They said they'd take care of it because it needed pre-authorization, and gave me a week's worth of drops. I called and left a message yesterday asking for a status update since today was my last day of the trial drops. It went to voicemail (which said they'd call back within 4 hours). Then I called my pharmacy, where I was told they were still waiting for Eye Consultants of NOVA to obtain pre-authorization from my insurance company. Today I called Eye Consultants of NOVA again since I still hadn't heard back and didn't have enough drops for tomorrow. Voicemail again, so I left another message. Then I called my insurance company who said my prescription had been approved. They called my pharmacy while I was on hold and made sure it went through. A few minutes later Eye Consultants of NOVA finally calls and says my prescription was "taken care of". I informed them that it was because I called my insurance company and pharmacy (who had great customer service). I hope it's not like this every time I need a refill. Update 10/7/17: Left this weekend without my prescription eye drops because my pharmacy hadn't heard back from Dr. Ahn all week, and they're closed on the weekend. Nothing my pharmacy or insurance can do until someone is able to get a hold of them.

Wait times are outrageous (2 hours) everytime, consistently. Do not go to this practice and expect anything else. Its sad they treat thier patients this way, especially when children are waiting. I am a very disappointed father of a (former) patient.

The standaed of care here is second to none. Great doctors and very friendly helpful and thorough staff! Dr. Ailani, Jan and everyone have provided outstanding care for me and I’m sure, many others.

I've been taking my son to Dr. Parelhoff and Dr. Dao for 13 years and sing nothing but praises about the care received. Customer service from the staff was great too. Until 2016. Now when I take him to appointments, we sit in a crowded waiting room for hours. It's as if we're going to a first come first serve clinic versus a premier eye care facility. The front office service has declined significantly over the years. I used to call the office and get a live person EVERY time. Not lately. My father was referred to this practice and getting him an appointment has been horrible! No one answers the phone and leaving a message seems to be a waste of time. Patient care is a priority for the doctors, the rest of the staff....maybe not so much.

I had an emergency and even their schedule was busy they did their best to accommodate me. Locations are great if they don’t have space in one location they give you the option to go to another one. Nice and friendly staff. Efficiency in insurance processing.

I made an appt. as a new patient without a referral. Have had prior eye surgeries, currently wear glasses & contacts. Show up, am told, "Oh, we don't do contact lenses fittings!" Left angry, wondering why this was not asked about or checked when I spoke with the scheduler over the phone!

We were asked to arrive 15 minutes early for our initial appointment and did so. I signed us in, no one acknowledged us or said hello. Sat down and waited. 20 minutes later I was called up and asked several personnal questions in front of the line of patients waiting, no privacy at all (HIPPA violations for sure). Then I was handed a clipboard. Nothing said it’s just handed to me to me without a pen. Sat down and started filling it all out. 50 minutes after my arrival I was then called back by Tahney (SP?) who said nothing just shoved my face in a machine then said “follow me” and walked away while I gathered my things. Lost her and was standing in the hallway confused. Then she came back, rolled her eyes and led me to a room where she proceeded to rush through what I think was a preliminary exam. A bit rude and completely dismissive. Then she left without a word. I waited another 20 minutes for the doctor to come in. He was the same, rushed, non-communicative, dismissive. Dropped some stuff in my eye and tells me to follow him that Bertha will now help me. He disappeared into a different room, again I’m out in the hall and there is no one named Bertha there just me. Finally someone notices my lost appearance and sends me back out to the waiting room. It’s now 1.5hours into my appointment. Then I get called back again by yet another person who takes some pictures of my eye then leads me to another waiting area and says it will be about 20 minutes. 1 hour later, yes, another hour, I asked how much longer. I’m now in another exam room waited another 20 minutes for the doctor to possibly come in and do some more fiddling with my eyes. I don’t care if this guy can cure blindness, the wait is insane, the staff (all except the very considerate Nigerian woman) are rude and unfriendly, I won’t be coming back! I want my day back!!
