As adults we have things like responsibility’s. We cannot be waiting 2 plus hours in the waiting room to be seen for a second opinion! They didn’t ask if we had time just expected us to be able to walk down stairs and wait a hour! Abusurd!

Great Drs. Large selection on frames. Easy to get emergency appointment.

I've been going to eye care for the adirondack for more years than I can count on my fingers and toes. My daughter had to have corrective surgery on her eye. I had no idea who to go to eye care was fairly new in the area and I took a chance. Been with them every since & watched as their business expanded & gathered new patients & doctors.

I have been going to Eye Care of the Adirondacks for several years now...both for visual exams and contact fitting. My children also have regular visits there. Everyone has always been very professional...some have better personalities than others of course. My most recent experience was a bit more critical. I sought help for severe pain, redness, swelling rt eye. I admit I was forewarned by several people to go elsewhere ...they each had their own horror stories to tell. But since I was an established patient...I took my chances. It ended up that I had infected ulcerations in the cornea. They actually told me that I probably would have lost my sight if I had waited any longer to come in. So I had eye drops, weekly visits, several repeat exams..until everything possible was done. I do believe I did experience a slight loss of vision but because of my own carelessness with contacts. I had two doctors..the primary was a returning md...an elderly gent ..very friendly..willing to answer my questions. Another younger doctor filled in twice. On the first visit I found him to be friendly and very intelligent. On the last visit however...he made me feel stupid for coming in...like I was wasting his time. Definitely take the old guy.

Have been here for over an HR past my appointment time with a pce of glass in my eye and yes they know it. Hardly anyone has gone in and out. They definitely need someone to help them make their schedules. Maybe 1 person every hour is recommended for the future schedules.

Please STOP over booking! At the very least break up the office into working, retired, etc. for people that have to take time off of work. If you're going to make people wait 2 hours at least have a snack bar with snacks and coffee! Or at the very least a vending machine?

I would not recommend using Eye Care for the Adirondacks. I have had several poor experiences there. Most recently, they have incorrectly filled out my contact lense prescription twice now, charged me for the co-pay then sent a bill for the same co-pay asking me to pay it again. They also did not inform me that I needed to get my eyes dilated for the exam I was having, so I did not bring someone to drive me home (over an hour away). In the past, I have waited in their waiting room for 3 hours for my appointment. The front desk staff are very unfriendly, and to be quite frank they are very rude to their customers.

I went to eye care for an eye exam and new glasses almost 6 months ago. 6 months later 3 pair of frames 4 pair of lenses and still not correct. My first visit for exam and glasses my insurance company was billed over 2.000. 600 out of pocket. How does one justify charging that kind of money when they can’t fit a person properly with a pair of glasses. Oh and I forget to mention that I had to have a second eye exam because the prescription was wrong. Come on people get your act together

Makes mistakes and won't own up to what they did. Not happy with the optical department, very rude and they don't seem to care one bit.

I am very pleased with Dr. Litwicki regarding a skin lesion near my eye and his was able to quickly and effectively see what I was talking about. I appreciate a Dr. that is confident and not arrogant. Thank You

A few years ago, I had cataract surgery at the Plattsburgh Offices. After the first Inter-ocular lens replacement my vision in the eye operated on was distorted (straight lines appeared curved and double vision) which I reported at the next office visit, After the second surgery, the other eye also had the same kind of distortion. I subsequently reported this problem at every single follow-up office visit. At the last office visit, the ophthalmologist who was assigned my case, stated that there was nothing in the notes of any of my visits on my complaint. i feel this was unethical and unconscionable, to suppress the complication of the surgery, and may point to incompetence and malpractice. I am not litigious, so have not pursued this, since they seem to have intentionally not recorded my observations and complaint.

I ordered glasses in person from them. They told me 7-10 business days now it is day 32. I needed my glasses for a vacation, they were not done in time. When I called to ask when my glasses will be it they would never give me an answer. Not to mention they put me on hold for an hour. I am extremely displeased DO NOT go there. I would highly recommend eye peak in lake placid.

I have received very caring and professional service from Dr. Dahlen over many years. I could not be more please with his practice.

Went in for an eye exam for myself and my wife two weeks ago. Her exam from start to finish was over 3 hours. We left some time between exams so I could drive home after her eyes were dilated and she could drive me to my appointment 4 hours after hers. By time her exam was finished it was time for my exam so we just stayed there. My exam also took over 3 hours and another 45 minutes to get my glasses order submitted. In all, we spent 8 hours at this establishment filled with some of the highest class people from Plattsburgh... it was a zoo in there. Old people screaming about wanting trifocals instead of progressives and how they messed it up last time blah blah blah. Went in for a quick follow up exam for the wife today to check her dry eye and get her a new contact prescription. They charged us $50 for her first contact exam two weeks ago (where they didn’t even prescribe her any contacts) and another $100 today for a (contact refitting) where they STILL DIDNT GIVE HER A PRESCRIPTION! So now in two weeks she has ANOTHER follow up to make sure these ones work and to give her a scrip. The Optometrist we saw, Sara Lemay, was awesome and very helpful, but most of the other staff (working the check in counter for example) were clueless and appear to have little training. I am thoroughly disappointed in the service we received and will likely go elsewhere for our eye care needs.

Great clinic. Always very busy with lots of customers. They have an extensive collection of frames in their optic shop. Staff are very nice and very patient with rambunctious children.

I have been going to Eye Care since I was a child and now take my children here. Over the past couple of years, the service has gone downhill...Too much like an assembly line with little to no privacy during initial portion of the exam. Rooms are so small where I can't sit with my son during his exam. Same building but we have reconfigured it to have more people in and out to make more money vs focus on patient care.

Kelly Chillari

I went for an eye contact exam because I am currently living out of town while I complete a few years of residency. At my appointment (not while making the appointment) I was informed that my brand of contacts lenses (I have had these for over ten years) was being discontinued due to the material not allowing for good oxygenation and I would need to be refitted which required a follow up visit I couldn't make (leaving town again). They refused to fit me since I could not make this appointment. The reason I am disgusted by this service is as follows: 1. No one informed me my lenses were being discontinued for what sounds like a potentially harmful issue 2. The "Doctor" did not even stop by for two seconds to explain herself why a follow up was necessary and she did not feel comfortable fitting me without one. Or to answer any questions/concerns I had about my current lenses 3. As a healthcare professional myself who tries to support independent practices I expect better patient care. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this place for routine eyecare, just go to any old chain, it is probably cheaper. Update: 4/24/18 I have since gone to two different eye care clinics (one a retail chain and one another independent) and had a new brand of contacts fitted at both. Neither required a follow up visit and I had no issues either time.

Too many patients... too long of a wait. Some doctors are good, some not. Do your homework!

We have been going to Eye Care of the Adirondacks for many years now. The staff has always been very professional and they go above and beyond to help you in the optical center. Timely and proficient. Great selection of designer frames also. Never have been unhappy with the service they provide and we will keep going back.

Dave Bruso

How is waiting 2 hours for a scheduled appt quality service? Honestly

Morgan Reyell

Please read all these reviews. The service is terrible here, its overbooked daily. Its a revolving door and everyone is too busy to really care about you. Call to check on glasses is another insult; 9 minutes and 5 different people lifting the phone to explain the same question over and over; just to hear they got damaged or they just got here 3 minutes ago, we were just getting ready to call you. Five weeks for my glasses to get here. I will go back to my old provider, bigger is not better here!

Worst place in plattsburgh had a appointment for my son today at 125 waited in the waiting area for 30 minutes, then sent me up stairs to wait again just not to be seen I walked out they do not treat there patience good at all there is no need to make someone wait in the office for over a hour and 30 minutes will not ever go back there I will look for a different eye care place

the receotionists are rude!!

Lovely office, always kept clean and tidy. A bit busy because of the size but I have never been kept waiting long.

Sally Wachowski

Uncaring and unprofessional. Still waiting for medical records to arrive at my husband's physician's office so we can see WHY he is now blind!

Dorain Hendrie
