I have been a patient of the Riverwoods Eye Center for 10 years. I lost my left eye in a shooting accident 22 years ago and because of this I've chosen my ophthalmologist very carefully. Dr. Myers has given me very thorough exams and has been great to squeeze me in for emergency appointments when I've had an infection or something in my eye. I have also appreciated the care I've received when I've seen his partner, Dr. Ward. I felt like he was just as knowledgeable and concerned as Dr. Myers and it gave me peace of mind to know that if my regular doctor was unavailable, I was in good hands with his partner.

These are seriously the best eye doctors around. They are very knowledgeable and professional. You can tell they work really hard to get you in fast. I have never had to wait in the waiting room for more than a few minutes. The office is beautiful and has a great atmosphere. The doctors know what they are doing. I will never go to another eye doctor. I wish all doctors were this awesome!!

Dr. Ward seems to know what he is talking about. I agree with the prior reviewer about his staff and billing - a pain to work with. I paid him over $400 to cauterize my lower tear ducts (a 15 minute procedure), with him promising they would never open because he goes real deep. About 3.5 months later, the lower tear duct holes appeared to be open. I called and he said he wanted to take a look at them. I went in, he looked at me for less than 2 minutes and said they were still closed but sometimes the end of the holes do open up (could have told me over the phone that it is normal for the ends to open, but he would have lost $70). I thought that was the end of it. A few days later I get a bill for $70...I called and they wouldn't budge on the $70 even though it was less than a 2 minute job. Very frustrating people to work with.

Ward was a good ophthalmologist, he listened well and was good at what he did. The office staff was less helpful. When I called in, they indicated they accepted my insurance (UHC Vision) and when I called UHC they said it would be accepted but when the claim was denied I found out that they had been having issues with UHC denying claims. Ultimately, it was my responsibility to verify with my insurance provider that it would be accepted (which I tried to do) but I would have appreciated Riverwoods Eye Center letting me know that they had had issues with denied claims from my insurance provider in the past.

The office is in a great location, the staff is outstanding and very professional and I value the highly skilled medical expertise of Dr. Myers. Dr Tom Myers is a wonderful eye doctor. He is caring and listens to what the patient has to say. I have seen a number of eye doctors because of the eye history my family has. He is the only one who listened and has been watchful with my eye care so I can continue to see well. It means a lot to me to have a doctor who cares and I get that with Dr. Myers. I had ICL eye surgery in August of 2018, and Dr. Ward performed it. He was so good to answer all my questions in our appointments prior to surgery, and was very attentive to my needs. I had my surgery on a Thursday, and I was the rare case that had complications from surgery. Dr. Ward came into the office after hours to care for me, and even several times over the weekend to ensure I was recovering. He was amazing! I would definitely recommend him to anyone! His surgical team and office people are also very great and professional!

I only wished I would have found these Doctors sooner! A few years ago I was getting extreme headaches and doubled vision. I was very sick and did not know what was happening.. I went to the excel eye center and got the run around and was eventually sent up to the Moran eye center for more testing. After an MRI and countless visits it turned out it was just as simple as the medication I was taking that was causing swelling of my optic nerves. I switched over to the Riverwoods eye center for my annual eye exams and Dr. Myers gave me a better understanding of why I may have had that problem. He addresses it each time I see him and he makes me feel like he genuinely cares about my health. I never have to wait when I go to this office and the staff is very helpful and friendly. I have referred multiple friends and family members and they have raved how much they loved this office. I just wish that all my Docotors were this great!

I would give Dr. Ward my highest recommendation. I had a really great experience with him- I needed an exam and had some questions about Lasik vs glasses. I was able to get right in to see him. He took all the time I needed to answer all of my questions in a clear manner, without being pushy. He is very professional, and obviously has a mastery of ophthalmology knowledge. Staff were really nice to me. I have recommended him to family members, and I will continue to go to him. No complaints!
