I went in to see a dr. in early Jan.. I had a problem with my left eye. After he checked it,he wanted me to come back in three weeks to follow up and make sure it was clearing up. Since this was a follow up visit, I assumed that I would not be charged again for the same problem.NOT SO!! Richens apparently feels it necessary to get every dime out of their patients that it possibly can. I won't be using this facility again, and will be warning all of my friends to steer clear also, unless they like to be taken advantage of.

One star is being too kind. Dr. Richens is only interested in making money. Both my parents are patients here, and get treated poorly. There's always an unacceptable wait time. People have complained every time I've been there. Worst was scheduling my father for another surgery, telling him to be there at 5 pm, then being so far behind because she overbooked to maximize profit, and ended up performing his surgery around midnight. No wonder he still cannot see. Greedy quack!! Reply to your reply- If you cannot figure out who the patient is by my mentioning he had to wait around until midnight for his surgery, then it must be common for you to be 7-8 hours behind schedule. Wow!

Warning billing nightmare and no desire to help. We called in to schedule an appointment and asked about insurance coverage. Gave Richens our info and came in two weeks later. All was good until we received our bill and was told they didn't take our insurance. Their billing lady was rude and completely unhelpful. The funny part is really have double coverage with two different vision plans. Needless to say we are now in collections and they are doing more to help Bill the insurance than Richens did. Stay away as they don't care about you

They have done some amazing work for me and I have very complicated problems like macular holes not macular degeneration and we were able to get on top of it quickly and I ended up working with an expert in Henderson it is taking the old approach of six weeks of face down while the Cure is in place to getting a cure within 5 days which is a huge difference for anyone the can't imagine 6 weeks face down like me

I had the Visian ICL procedure performed by Dr. Richens about a week ago. Everything went perfectly, and I am extremely satisfied with my results so far. Dr. Richens is about as informed, educated, and experienced on this type of vision correction procedure as anyone you'll speak to. Truth be told, I was looking at having the same procedure performed by some other doctors who specialize in it. I did my research on this for over a year before I felt comfortable with actually having this procedure done. I also asked several optometrists about this procedure, and who they personally would choose to perform the surgery on them if it were their eyes involved. I found Dr. Richens to be the answer to my research. Sure, there are ophthamologists who have done more Visian ICL procedures than Dr. Richens. But, I can't say that necessarily makes them the better choice. And, when optometrists actually tell you they would have Dr. Richens perform the surgery versus those other doctors, it makes the decision much easier. Dr. Richens spent a good amount of time with me a few days before the actual procedure answering my questions and helping me understand the process. She would've spent a few hours answering my questions if I had more. She loves what she does, and you can definitely tell she has your best interest at heart when you speak to her about any of the procedures she performs. There were only two bad parts to the process of having this particular procedure, according to me. One was having to wear my glasses for a couple of weeks(you do this in order for your eyes to return to their natural shape without contacts in). If you don't typically wear contacts a lot, then this won't bother you like it did for me. The second bad part was the pre-surgery iridotomy. It really wasn't that bad, but I'm being completely honest here so researchers can understand the process. The iridotomy is a procedure which can be explained better by the helpful staff at Richens Eye Center. In plain english, they put a few types of eye drops in your eye(numbing drops, pupil dilation drops, etc.) in order to perform this part of it properly. Some of the drops can cause a slight discomfort from a 'brow-ache.' Yes, it was a little uncomfortable. Not the actual iridotomy part, but the brow-ache. You can take some tylenol for that. Other than those two minor things, everything else is quick and simple. Typically, the surgery will only last about 30-45 minutes total. I took a some medication before the surgery. Most people don't need general anesthesia for this. Some people are able to see pretty well right after the surgery. I felt like I just slept in my contacts when I came out of surgery. I couldn't see really well at all for about an hour. I returned to Richens Eye Center for my post-operation check up about three hours later, and my eyes were checked. I already had 20/15 vision! Pretty cool, to say the least. My vision over the next day or so was a touch blurry. But, by the second morning, I was seeing very well. Probably as well as I could see with contacts before. My vision is getting better by the day. My eyes feel great. And, I would recommend this surgery and Dr. Richens to anyone I know. By the way, does anyone need some extra contact solution:)

I got my Lasik done about three months ago for Far Sighted correction, and Amblyopia correction. The surgery was quick and quite easy. I had a complication with the recovery with an inflammation and haze, but Dr. Richens and the staff was extremely professional and attentive to my recovery until everything was healed and now my vision is perfect.

This was my second visit. The amount of staff is dizzying. It is a well oiled Machine. Actually a bit robotic. Time is money seems to be the theme. I was shocked to be told that the fee for my prescription was 35$. That is just wrong. It is mine after all. The thought, is online eyewear must be taking a bite out of the ridiculously exspensive practice of selling Glasses. My income and circumstances do not permit me to pay hundreds of dollars on eyewear. I was scheduled to have cataract surgery in January, 5 months away. My current glasses are scratched, So was hoping to get something inexpensive online. If you add the 35$ to the purchase it seems to defeat the purpose. What happened to pleaseingredients the patient? My husband needed to get into see Dr. Teske (who comes twice a month from Salt Lake City). Things were a little bumpy at first, but once I got Dar everything she needed things were absolutely perfect. Extremely nice right when we walked in. Dr. Teske was extremely helpful! He's amazing. Bandara checked us out and she's gone above and beyond what she need to wish checking in with us a few days after the appointment. I'd highly recommend Richen's Eye Center to anyone.

Yesterday, I had a routine eye exam with the Richens Eye Center, my first experience with them. I was very impressed with the treatment that I received both from the technicians and the doctor. I also felt that it was the most thorough eye exam that I had ever had. Although I forgot to take my most recent prescription eyeglasses with me. I was told that if I would bring them in at another time that they would be happy to compare them to the exam results to see if I needed a new pair of glasses. I returned today with my glasses and the technician gladly made the comparison for me (even though she was just starting her lunch break). How gracious and kind of her to help me. She then broke the good news to me: I didn't need a new pair of glasses! I gladly give the Richens Eye Center 5 stars for their excellent eye care and wonderful customer service.

Holy #@%^ this place is terrible!! I made appointment a week ahead of time. Showed up before the appointment, filled out the paper work and waited 45 minutes. Only one patient had been called in while I waited with 10 or so others. I went to the front desk and they told me it would be another 1 to 1 1/2 wait. I don't mind a reasonable wait, I come to expect it. But this was crazy. If you can't manage time better then this why should I trust you with my eyes? If you are looking, don't look here, unless you want to sit in uncomfortable chairs for a few hours. You get one chance to make a first impression and you just made yours.

My wife and daughters all use glasses. We have gone there for two years. We have also taken my mother-in-law who has RP. Very good doctors. We wouldn't have liked to have left them, but everything has turned more toothed business side. Everything has an extra charge. After all studies done we wanted to contact lenses for my daughter. For them to do that it was going to be an extra $100 charge. Everything was turning out this way. For this we decided to leave them.

. My wife has RP and had a 3:00 appointment today, after a period of time she was called in...........sat in the room and finally came out into waiting room to tell my husband I have not seen a doctor yet, this was 5:00 PM......He told me to be patient, at 5:30 the receptionists turned off the phones, turned off the TV , fixed the magazines, fixed up the kids area. I am thinking, is everyone going home?? Then the 2 girls walk in with their cleaning supplies (the cleaning crew) finally a girl walks up to me and asks if I am waiting for someone ( like yeah, my wife) she takes me to her room and there she sits waiting, now it is 5:50 PM........I wait with her in the room til 6:00 and finally walk out and look for someone to question. I finally find a lady, rag on her about the 3 hour wait in the office and leave.......do not think I will be back, no one gave us an explanation why it took so long!!!! I waited less time at Dixie Regional for my wife in post op. This afternoon was a total waste of our time with no results!!!!!!!!!

I was referred here because my primary eye dr seen fluid behind my eyes and was concerned. I made the appointment and right away I was critizized about my weight without even asking me if I had been working on it she just jumped on me about diet and excersise and meal plans... I've been working on my weight for a year and I've made significant progress and I have thyroid issues. I will not be going back to this dr she was not willing to listen to anything I had to say and continued to criticize my weight which was very disheartening since I've been focusing on it already myself. A Dr. should listen instead of judge and we could of probably gotten somewhere.

These guys are ruthless. Quick to charge an insane $99 late fee and send you to collections. The collection agency is far kinder and helpful. I'm a disabled veteran. Richens Eye Center called me one hour before my first appointment with them to cancel it and to deny rescheduling. I had waited months for that appointment. Since I can't see well enough to drive, I scheduled my life all around that one appointment. Their reason was because they said the VA is slow to pay. They said the VA hadn't paid claims for up to a year, however the only way that were to occur was if Richens billing department was not following proper procedure for payment.

My experience with Richens Eye Center has been very disappointing. They have a horrible billing department who do not know how to submit services correctly to the insurance company. After providing my information at time of service, sending my information again when I received my first bill, and then resending 1 more time when I received a 2nd bill (and also calling to follow up multiple times), they told me they would take care of it each time. I expressed concern that my statement showed past due and told them I was worried about having issues with being so late and that they would send me to collections before we were able to get this resolved. The billing person confirmed that would not happen and that she would note my account to ensure this DID NOT happen. Well....a couple days ago we received a call from a collection agency. I never received a call from Richens directly and when I called to settle up (I was so fed up that I decided to pay on my own and deal with my insurance company on my own), I spoke with the SAME woman I had spoken with every time I called and she just told me that the service was performed 9 months earlier and the someone should have called me before sending to collections. When I asked her if this would appear negatively on my credit report, she said she didn't know and only the collection company could tell me that information. She took my credit card number and charged me $165 (including a $20 collection fee) that she said I owed. When I called the collection agency to find out more details, they said I only owed $120. Nice that Richens Eye Center gave very poor service, sent me to a collections agency, and ALSO overcharged me. Needless to say, I will never return and would not recommend Richens Eye Center to anyone.

Totally agree with prior reviews about billing and rudeness. Went in for "Free" exam to see if I could have lasik. Billed for the entire amount of service. When I called they realized they made a mistake with my insurance and told me to disregard the bill. 6 months later I get a bill for $42. They were indifferent and could care less about helping me or explaining what their definition of FREE is. Stay away from this place, it's a racket.

Doctor Richens is awesome! I had and exam for lasiks and she was just fun and bubbly to talk to she explained everything to me and was able to help me figure out what works best for me. She also helped me figure out my dry eyes. I highly recommend coming to her!

I’m not one to ever leave a bad review. I took my father in for his first appointment because his vision is terrible and by the end of the appointment we were told that maybe it’ll be best to go elsewhere. It wasn’t so much what they said but how they said it. When I say they I mean they had someone come into the office to explain to us that it’ll be best to go elsewhere. As a caretaker and because my father is older I wanted to make sure to cover any concerns we both had and I feel because we asked questions they were bugged. I can’t tell you how sad I was to walk out of that office with my father. I’m so sorry to say that I would not recommend this office.

Overall I was impressed by the staff during my first couple of appointments, but when I came for my dilation I was extremely disappointed. The woman who checked us in was extremely rude, and charged me $120.00 for appointments that had been rescheduled, but she argued and said they were canceled. Then proceeded to give excuses that made no sense as to where the fees were coming from. Was extremely unimpressed with how rude she was, and how she treated customers. Considering finding another place to have my Lasik surgery.

You can't beat the OD, or physicians in this practice. Dr Richens is an excellent physician and takes time with patients' to let questions be asked an answered. She is an excellent surgeon for cataracts! The only negative thing I can say is that waiting can be long, sometimes over an hour. However, it's worth the wait to get the fantastic care.

I have worn contact lenses and glasses for over 30 years and both of my eyes were near sighted along with having bad astigmatisms. I decided to be tested for FREE at Richens Eye Center to see if I was even a candidate for Lasik Eye Surgery. I found out I was and then had the opportunity to receive Lasik Eye Surgery from Dr. Sharon Richens at Richens Eye Center. I had Lasik Eye Surgery on a Wednesday and played in a basketball tournament that Friday (less then 48 hours later!) with PERFECT vision! My eye sight has been perfect ever since. I have no idea why I waited so long to have this done because it has changed my life in so many positive ways. Being very active from wake boarding to snowboarding to playing/coaching sports with my 3 kids, Lasik Eye Surgery has made my life much more enjoyable in so many ways. My kids like that they can finally splash water in my face in the pool :-) and I like the ease of never having to mess with contacts or glasses EVER. I even enjoy the simple pleasure of seeing the time on my alarm clock at night. Dr. Sharon Richens' is an amazingly talented eye surgeon and a great person overall.
