My husband has a lot of corrections, astigmatism, and prisms needed for his glasses. He was having a difficult time getting his prescription right and decided to try Excel Eye Center in Payson. He felt confident in his doctor and was really happy with the service he received there. We would recommend them as an excellent office to work with.

Very poor service, the ladies behind the counter were very rude and ignorant. They are not helpful at all. However the actual doctor is a very nice and professional man but the front desk is a joke.

Left the office very frustrated with my experience. First of the older lady at the front desk had an attitude with me when I checked in and continued to spell my name wrong- "Shannnan" after repeatedly correcting her that I don't have 4 n's in my name lol. I had to have someone different correct my record. Then when I returned to the office with questions about my contact and glasses prescription I asked to speak with the doctor and instead Jane insisted on answering my questions. But instead of listening and answering my questions in a professional manner, Jane was VERY condescending and treated me like I'm stupid. She explained that she "has worked in the contact lens department for 9 years!" so therefore she "knows what she's talking about." Supposedly. What she didn't know is that I also worked for an optometrist for many years. Think before you treat people like they're stupid, honey. In fact, not thinking and not listening to your customers makes YOU look stupid. Especially when you have no customer service skills after 9 years of working in customer service! Lol I won't be returning to Excel Eye Center. Even Costco has better customer service and efficiency than them.

I've never been helped here in a timely matter, and this time is the worst. I came 5 minutes early with my Aunt for her appointment. So we're forced to wait for over 40 minutes to get in, because the person who had an appointment before us... Was 45 minutes late. This person showed up 20 minutes into our wait time. Mind you 2 other people who had appointments after ours got in, and left before we were handled. So, if you're looking for good service, this is not the place. Of the dozen times I've been here, I've never been helped on time or in a timely matter, and the excuse is always the same. "We're behind" we'll fix it then!

Dr Schmutz is an amazing Doctor. He’s very professional, thorough, and makes sure that all your questions and concerns are addressed during your visit. I was very anxious prior to my appointment about keratoconus, but after my appointment I felt all my questions were answered in depth and I would highly recommend him to patients of all ages!

Interesting phone call with Excel Eye Center in Payson. I told them my daughter was leaving on a trip and woke up with an eye infection. The lady told me, "Sorry we don't have any appointments. Try our Provo office." I said, "Surely there must be another Eye Dr. around Payson." She said, "None that I know of." LOL Ya right. Turns out there is one right up the road. I called them and they said, "Eye infection? Get her in here ASAP this morning!" OK that's what I would expect. Thank you Apple Valley. Maybe Excel would be awesome, hard to say. I just couldn't get her in there. But thankful another local Eye Dr. took her infection seriously.

The new doctor isn't so bad (Doctor Linton, the previous doctor, was especially awesome tho), but the unprofessionalism and terrible customer service from the secretary and other office staff is what merits a single star. They aren't very polite, they don't seem to care about taking care of you, and they're very difficult to work with. Recently my father had to wait OVER AN HOUR after the appointment time. Wasn't told why, wasn't apologized to for the wait, nothing. Then had to wait even longer in the room to actually see the doctor which only was a few minutes. They also batched out the credit card machine 15 minutes before close without letting my mother know when she was called, told the contacts were ready to be picked up, asked what time they closed, and then got there 10 before close (on a Friday with no back up contacts at home). The same woman who called her was who was there and didn't want to compromise at all, when it was her who should have let my mom know to be there before 15 minutes before close or should have just taken payment and rebatched out the credit card machine (which can be done). On top of that they have odd hours that aren't posted and then act annoyed if you're confused and call. With so many other options they're not worth giving business to.
