My son had a non threatening eye accident at school. After reading Google reviews, I decided to visit San Antonio Eye Specialist.I am not a prior patient, I explained my situation to the front desk and they were very empathetic. They created an appointment opening for us. We saw Dr. Urbina, he was patient with my 5 year-old and showed genuine concern for his well being. The service we received from the time we walked in, to the time we left, was professional. Based on our experience, I will be making new patient eye exams for additional family members. Lastly, I received a follow-up call from Dr.Urbina, himself. That is truly a way to create lifelong patients.

My initial visit a few years ago was quite pleasant. This year was completely different all the way around. From the front desk, exam room...all the way to check out. The young lady at check in was not very attentive, appeared to not want to be there. I train front desk and check out medical staff(MOS)therefore I know the importance of being the “face of the clinic”, and how we greed and care for our patients plays a huge role. The exam room lacks privacy, my tech appeared to be easily distracted by his peers. Perhaps I’ve been in this industry far too long, because customer/patient service is no where near what it used to be.

This is one of the best experiences with any doctors ever. For a starter, the office is very elegant, calm and very luxurious. I felt I was entering some kind of a hotel spa not a doctor's office. Then the girl at the front desk was unbelievably courteous and helpful. Her customer service skills were the best I have seen in a long time. I could also hear the way she spoke to other patients on the phone and she was very courteous too. Then within few minutes I was taken in by the assistant to do the field of vision and the macular scan and she was very competent, professional and courteous. After she did the vision test Dr. Iskander came in and examined me. He was very professional, friendly and polite. He was also very confident and knowledgeable He answered any questions I had in clear simple way. He was clearly very up to date. He also took his time and I did not feel rushed in any way. Dr. Iskander is the absolute best in my book. Trust me I tried other ophthalmologists in the city and I can tell you horror stories. I would absolutely recommend Dr. Iskader and his office to anyone. My experience with San Antonio Eye Specialists was extraordinary from the first consultation. I was told by several optometrists/ophthalmologists over past several years that my eyesight was not correctable. I was okay with it so didn't bother pursuing it. On a whim, I contacted San Antonio Eye Specialists who performed a 2 hour consultation (FREE) and told me my vision was correctable. Everyone from the initial consultation with Dr Iskander and Diane, to the surgery, and multiple followups (with Dr Urbina) has been competent, professional, and extremely accommodating. Each time I've been there, the waiting time has been about an hour. I'm on hold for more than 5 minutes to schedule a Lasik follow up. Once I'm in, it's the basics. The docs/assistants are nice enough, same with the office space. My Lasik worked out alright. Pricey without coverage on eye exams.

I recently had a Toric ICL implant and it has been a great experience. It’s truly life changing. I have worn glasses for 12 years and I had a really high prescription and astigmatism, which was able to be corrected with this procedure. I am 18 years old and my prescription had stabilized. I can wake up now and see, I no longer have to worry about putting on contact lenes or wearing glasses. The office faulty are really nice and understanding. They never let you leave with questions and explain everything thoroughly. Throughout my whole time at the office I always felt welcomed, comfortable, and confident that I was in good hands. Wow. I got PRK (similar to LASIK) back in January of 2018. I see so crisp and clear it's amazing. I had a pretty high prescription (one eye was -4.75, the other -6.5) as well as astigmatism in both eyes. The whole experience was great even though I was super nervous. For your eyes, DON'T compromise!

Dr. Iskander performed successful Cataract surgery on me for both of my eyes during 2013 when I was 64 years old. My vision improved immediately to 20/20. There was no pain or side effects. I go back once a year for an annual eye exam with Dr. Iskander. I am happy to say that I have had no problems with my vision since my Cataract surgery. I had my surgery done about a year ago. Everything was fine before the procedure, me and my brother in law got Lasik same day. I obviously expected our recovery to be different but was concerned when I saw blurry and my eye will not focus when watching tv fast pace scene , months after. Staff look at you strange for even complaining and make you feel odd. No further questions can be answered just the usual “oh it’s dry eyes and you’ll heal eventually “ I haven’t healed. They told me I still have astigmatism which they can redo surgery for free, are you serious you didn’t fix me the first time what makes you think I’ll give you another shot. Read all the papers they make you sign I didn’t realize then they take no responsibility for the results after the surgery. Plus you won’t get your 2 year check up free but you need to keep your appointment or you will not get cover for another surgery , which I don’t care for but they don’t tell you about either. I’m sure I’m not the only one with issues it’ll be nice if you start treating your patients with care instead as business. You don’t know how much it’s change my life. Suffering from floaters, cloudy, blurry vision. Know these people are just here to make money and could care less how it’s obtain and who they affect with this unethical procedure, your like an animal being tested on to see if this one gets good or bad results . Don’t get dragged by all the good reviews examine all the paperwork and make a choice base on both the pros and cons of Lasik . Their is good but a lot of bad consequences outweighs it from dry eyes, blurry vision , exposure to infection with an open flap, to the worst retinal detachment loss of sight and potential suicide. I was referred to SAES by a fellow colleague who said she wouldn’t trust anyone else with her eyes! I finally made the decision to get it done and I am so happy I did! I don’t even know where to start...I’m actually emotional at how amazing this place is and the true miracle that Dr. Iskander worked on me! I’ve been in glasses since I was less than 2, and hard contact lenses since I was 10, and my uncorrected vision was 20/400 with a severe astigmatism and severe farsightedness...so, basically I was blind! I’ve been told time and time again that lasik is not, and never will be an option for me. Enter Dr. Iskander! He told me it was complex, but he could do it. So here I am, one week after lasik and my vision is now almost 20/15! He was phenomenal throughout the entire procedure too, keeping my anxiety-ridden self very calm and walking me through everything he was doing and exactly what I should be seeing. Dr. Urbina who does the pre and post op appointments is also great, so informative and thorough! Actually the entire staff here deserve 100 stars...if you’ve been considering lasik at all, don’t think twice, go here! You most definitely will not regret that decision!

Thanks to Dr.Iskander my vision is crystal clear. CLEAR choice when it comes to eye health, this doctor is competent, affordable, and with excellent bed-side manner. You must go to Dr.Iskander if you want to take back control of your eyesight, I'm flabbergasted I've gone to a 20/15 after seeing with an astigmatism for half my life. All the wonderful employees here do everything they can to make you feel ready for your surgery appointment day, the scheduling as well as the surgery went so swiftly and effortlessly, as well. Dr. Iskander was very knowledgeable and kind. Both surgeries went well and I am very pleased. I was very disappointed in the treatment coordinators who did not explain that my healthcare plan required I pay an additional $1500 per surgery for the facility fee. When I asked if what they presented was everything they said yes. I was shocked to have to pay an additional $3000 plus the cost of the lenses at the facility. If these girls are paying attention to verifying my insurance and the costs involved they should have known and explained. I think they were more concerned about selling “ their” treatment and whatever happened after was an oh well, they got what they wanted. I take responsibility as I should have taken the treatment plan home and looked it over before writing a check. Taking their word was not a good decision on my part. I know others that went here who faced the same situation and it is very disheartening. So my advice is make sure you know all the ins and outs of your own health plan and ask questions!

From the initial screening to the post op check ups, they’ve been so helpful. Excellent experience at this office. The receptionists were very friendly. The office looks great and is very comfortable. The physician's assistant Angela was great. She is the one and only person in 40 years that has been able to get a glaucoma pressure reading without me struggling. She was patience and gentle. I have always had an extremely difficult time with this test and she is the first person ever to get it done without me freaking out. Then, I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Offoegbu.
