I feel that the extra time spent in this office is worth it because the eyes are so important. Every possible test is administered for my aging eyes - field test (YUK), retina, vision, pressure, etc. Khan-Farooqi is a fantastic doctor and I feel confident that he or an equivalent talent will be there for each step of the way as the eyes age. BTW - don't take your eyesight for granted. I had excellent vision when younger; it doesn't always stay that way especially after 40. You can't stop aging and genetics. You can stop adverse lifestyle practices. Try not to strain your eyes with phones, computer and TV screens; rest them and your neck by looking up at your family, friends, scenery, sunrises, and sunsets.

Doctor was an hour late, breezed through my exam and nearly gave me a med I was allergic (in my chart), didn't fix my problem, and sent me my bill and it was past due by the time I got it. Check-in was efficient. I only waited about five minutes for my appointment. The appointment took almost the exact amount of time, maybe a little less, than I was told it would take. I find that it is very easy to work with all the individuals at EPA. Winter is exceptional as far as concern for the patient goes. He understands what my questions and concerns are and takes the time to ensure that I understand his answers. Dr. Pierce, likewise is very concerned that I understand what is going on with my eyes. This was a revisit to check the eye glasses to see that they had been made correctly and he did that and also made some adjustments to my prescription based on my concerns and my reaction to the new glasses. Dr. Pierce even explained the numbers in the prescription when I said that I thought that there had been some significant changes over the years. Turns out that the changes were only due to a alternative method of coming up with the numbers which is perfectly acceptable. All-in-all wonderful people to work with and I am completely comfortable with the eye care I receive.

The staff did a thorough job in testing my visual acuity. I had to wait a long time to see Dr. Pierce. When I did get to see him, he did a thorough examination, telling me that I had no glaucoma nor macular degeneration. Yay! He pointed out that I do have cataracts, but they are growing very slowly. So I could have surgery done now or wait until my appointment a year from now and see, and in the meantime update the prescription for my glasses. I chose the latter. The optician, I think Cathy, was nice enough to stay past 5:00 to work with me to order new lenses and a new glasses case.

Mark A. Plunkett, MD is five stars but I am giving 4 for the overall experience. Dr. Plunkett is for me an ideal physician because he keeps up with the latest research while being cautious and practical about what is possible for a patient's health and budget. You are treated as a unique individual. I always like the support staff who immediately precede meeting with him in his own exam rooms. I took off minus one star for the eye exam staff (who seem to be shared among all t EPA ?) This is not targeting just one person but has been consistent. I know it is a boring job...all the more reason that extra work needs to go into making it more cheerful for them and FOR US. The basic vision tests must be done so I hope EPA can find ways to make that part of the experience more positive and upbeat by looking for those qualities when they hire. ++cj
