REVIEWS OF Charles Retina Institute IN Tennessee

Dance Mom

They are so inconsiderate of people's time. They schedule everyone at the same time. It doesn't matter how early I arrive, I am never seen in a timely manner. I saw some come and go in less than 2 hours but it never fails that I am never seen until the 3rd or 4th hour. I am sitting here watching people come and go. The waiting room is clearing out. Here I continue to sit.

WELL WORTH THE WAIT!

Malinda Stephens

If it wasn't for the problems with time i would give all 5 stars. The staff and drs are very knowledgeable, caring, and professional. I was completely blind in my right eye. I now can see except for my side vision. Very impressed.

Brad Tidwell

They scheduled me for a 6:50am appointment. They have no intention of seeing anyone that early. I was walking in with the staff. So yes, the wait time is not good, but the care and service were. So a 6:50 appt, I didn't walk out till 9:45. And remember I was the first appointment of the day......so allow plenty of time.

If I could leave zero stars, I would. Many of the good reviews here say Dr. Charles is worth the wait. I’ll never find out. After waiting over an hour and a half without my name called, I left. I wish I had looked into the reviews before taking off work to be here. I had an 11:50 appointment, arrived at 11:30. Still not even seen by nurses to be pre-screened and dilated at 1 p.m. The waiting room is massive and every chair was filled. Seems to me Dr. Charles is greedy and significantly overbooks his patients. The extreme wait times are unprofessional and unfair to patients. I will find another specialist who values my time.

thavefaith

Zero stars. Disgusted with the wait time. Waited 3 hours plus with my infant daughter for her eye exam. Absolutely ridiculous!

Lauren Johnson

The wait time here is insane! The staff is great, but they do NOT value your time, as evident by the number of patients they filter through and the amount of time they make you wait. I wish they’d honor our time like they honor their own time and paycheck. Please value patients over money.

Jason Foote

World renowned ophthalmologist and optometrists. Beautiful location. Evidenced based eye care.

Barbara Petty

Horrible. I was there for four hours. Dr. Charles spent most of his time training some young lady instead of speaking to me directly. He did not have a copy of my optometrist's xray to compare with the one his office took. I don't understand a lot, but I recognize the lack of common sense. I would never go back.

Ann Harrington

Yes, the wait is long, however, praise the lord, for the wonderful staff, Dr. Huddleston and Victoria. My sight is so much better, and I love this place!

My dear friend is a patient of Dr. Charles. He helped save his vision. He performed retina surgery and told him it would take about two years to heal completely. He was right. The wait time is HORRIBLE. However they do have comfortable seating and areas to charge phones etc.. I would clear the whole day and expect to be there for hours. Because you will be. But it is worth every minute, every second of every hour if it can save your eyesight.

Stacy Agustin

My appointment is 12:30pm and its already 3:00 nobody called my name yet the wait time is ridiculous, im late 3 hours on my work

Joe Riney

Extremely Professional and honest.

The wait time is beyond surreal. My Mother used to go to the University of Michigan Kellogg eye institute and it NEVER took more than 2 hours. We are entering hour 6 today. Way too many people per day so you have to assume it is greed.

Zakiyyah Belew

Wait time horrendous you will be waiting for more than 4hrs

Nikolas Rodgers

Excellent Doctors, but expect to be in the waiting room ALL DAY no matter what time your appointment is.

Judy Stevens

Amazing experience glad they can offer hope when no one else can and always very professional and courteous manner

Al Torres Fine Art

A Very long wait, especially today! The Reception Staff and Medical staff are great. Billing, not so great. It seems, if your name is mispronounced and you do not respond immediately, it is your fault! Then she will threaten to put you at the bottom of the list. It seems she has! As we've been here for an hour and 45 minutes and only seen 'ms Angry Blonde Billing person'. Also, she became angry at 'making a payment'. Had to be done 3x. It seems she also lacks instruction skills as well as people skills. Again, though, Reception, Medical and Drs.are always polite, compassionate and understanding. Just be ready for a bit of 'rude and grumpy' mixed in your day!

My husband was referred to Dr. Charles by his ophthalmologist in Tucson , Az. We spent a lot of money getting back to Memphis. The surgery has NOT helped in fact his eye is WORSE. Best part? No one has gotten in touch. I reached out again today and once again , I have someone in Dr. Charles office , that will call after Easter. This is horrible. I am so sad and frightened as is my husband. We would NOT have gone if we were made aware that this could happen. I can only pray that something positive can be done , that my husband does not go blind and that I can get a response to this call today. No one even answered the letter I sent MONTHS ago. The doctor is amazing, outstanding but the wait time is horrible. I have been here since 8:30am, it's now 12:43pm and I still haven't been seen. If you reschedule it will be worst.

Sheila Hensley

You are always treated special at Charles Retina. Plan on being there for hours but best care available.

Jenni Helms

Dr. Charles misdiagnosed my son. He performed an unnecessary surgery that ultimately cost him his life. He did not order any imaging or further testing to rule out retinoblastoma, he acted on his God complex alone. After getting a second opinion and proper diagnosis it was too late and the cancer had spread. My son died in October 2015. Please take your children to a doctor that treats by standard of care, that practices based on the oath taken to do no harm and not by arrogance. My son suffered for three years and died. Please find another doctor for your loved ones!

richard parks

The truth is, they don't care how long you have to spend in their office. i.e., 4 hrs. they could surely do better but they have not improved over years & no sign they will. Sad but true. Love Dr Rafieetary.

Melissa Taylor Dresler

Absolutely world class - not only did they help me when other doctors could not, but I have sent others there who also found hope, answers and cutting edge medicine.

Beth Chaney

For me, I know that going to this place keeps my mother from going blind. The longest wait in the world is worth that. Fantastic doctors and courteous staff. Plenty of plugs to keep things charged.

Each time that I have brought my Mother for an appointment the wait has been at least three hours long. I am not sure if they are giving everyone the same appointment time or not. But from what I have experienced it seems that way. Each time that I bring my Mother for an appointment I find myself praying that it's her last visit !

Some might complain about the wait but maybe the motto should be Well Worth The WAIT! Remember, CRI is dealing with the most delicate and difficult part of the eye (retina) so it's natural that the appointments take time. Plus, he is thorough in testing and takes each individual's case very seriously. Dr Charles is probably the best retina surgeon in the US (if not the world)! He is straightforward but brilliant and always a perfectionist! While others may complain about this, it's exactly what I want (even if I had to sit there until the place closes). He saved my sight from several unsuccessful surgeries a few years back and I gladly travel 500+miles to have him care for me! His influence in the world of retina (technology, teaching and innovation) will probably never be repeated and I'm so thankful he's my surgeon.

Douglas Tabb

The wait is long but well worth it. Love the professionalism and latest technology applications. People come from far and near to get the best quality available.
