Literally the worst ER visit I've had in my life! The receptionist, nurse, and doctor were all rude, unhelpful and short with me and my sick 10 month old. I've never experienced such callous hospital staff anywhere else! So disappointed!

Been there many times with very fast heart rate SVT. The staff of DR. and nurses are great. They reacted quickly and are so qualified in what they do. I am so thankful for living in this area of SD and having an Emergency room like this

I felt like my complaints were complained about by nurse because of too many several complaints I had. Which was the worst because she only wanted to focus on 1 thing which was worst. I felt like the doctor didnt do much because he focused on tests were done by another doctor at a walkin clinic at another Avera location 2 days before was not receptive to the idea to do more tests I requested. Therefore my multiple complaints were sorta shrugged off maybe during my visit here. So I didnt feel my needs for what I was there for got met in terms of doing more tests for feeling I was going to faint a few days before with other symptoms. Have not felt that way over 10 years. Walkin clinic was closed for holidays so had no other option except emergency room. Got turned down to get another chest xray and a blood test. Maybe this was a waste of money I think. Maybe its just me but felt more unfriendlier than some of the bigger hospitals in bigger cities with more patients but it could just be luck who I run into. I am an outsider to the sioux falls area and south dakota area where I have no family from or who has ever lived in South Dakota have thought there could be identity mix-up between me and another person with similar name in south dakota because I have seen things on my records at another Avera which have been very inaccurate concerning giving birth by c-section. And welll... I have no children have never given birth before. And dont know that errors are ever fixed. However, with my current being around this area there are not that many health facilities to choose from getting treatment at without a far drive requiring gas money.I am beginning to regularly enjoy making complaints on this google app since I have so many and police dont usually want to hear or do anything about these type of complaints or anyother small complaints I always seem to have. Its a shame for some of us who are isolated have no family to come with us to verify witness assist with communication or make sure things are done right with medical care.

I have been to the ER two times in the last two weeks for a concussion that I suffered at work. The same ER doctor was working both times. He treated me very poorly and was not professional. I have been seeing a different doctor at Sanford for my concussion because he did not take it seriously. Very dissatisfied with this ER staff.

Top Notch Facility! My wife and I were in town for a wedding this past weekend and at the time she was 36 weeks pregnant. We had an OB appointment prior to leaving and everything was A-OK so we decided to make the 6.5 hour trek from west central ND. Our son decided to change our plans and come early. I work in nursing and have been a RN for 5 years and just recently passed my NP boards, so I am well accustomed to the varying personalities of healthcare workers and differing agencies. The Brookings Health System is honestly one of, if not, thee best facility I have ever been in contact with. Their genuine compassion and care can be seen throughout all facets of the hospital from nursing to housekeeping to the providers. I was exceptionally impressed with the nursing staff as they were kind, caring, educated, and most importantly supportive. Even though our birth did not go as expected we would not change a thing and we have the Brookings Health System to thank for this, so much so that we named our son Brookston! I can unequivocally say that other healthcare facilities can learn a thing or two from this facility especially their OB department! Faithfully, Forrest and Jenny

I would give this place no stars if I could. Awful. No sense of urgency what so ever in their er. Doctor and nurse was terrible and refused to stitch up my finger after I asked, because it would "heal on its own". When I took the bandage off, it was swollen and I have nerve damage and its split open on the side. Terrible. It's not healing properly and they could have at least used skin glue. Will never go there even if I'm bleeding to death.

Went to the emergency room last night for a fall my daughter had. The nurse went above and beyond to help us, which included a follow up call later. The Dr was also very great with her. I am very impressed, great employees!

Doctors and nurses were fine, but their billing system is insane. My wife had a single ER trip there in July of last year, and we have gotten string of separate bills since then; ten months later we have just got the bill for the crutches she got there.

Absolutely terrible. I would never trust them with another life or death case again. The staff was unprepared and lacked compassion. We had an unresponsive female in the car and the staff made us carry her all the way to a room. We might be better off driving to Sioux Falls rather than this being our only option.

They were nice at start then when they found out that my brother didnt have insurance they cocked an attuide and i am not very pleased with the emergancy staff tonight.

It was a pleasure working with you all. Thank you also for the wonderful health care that was provided to me when I got sick on the job. Working for this hospital has indeed been an awesome pleasure. I will miss you all. If I forgot any departments that I have either worked with or had any contact with I will miss you and it has been a pleasure.

The dietary staff is phenomenal! Nurses are ok, doctors dont know what they are doing. Definitely a great place to eat though!

We've used the emergency ward a couple of times, and both times the nurses and physicians were extremely thorough and fast in their response. Also, very friendly and responsive overall to my wife's needs. Not sure what's going on with the more negative experiences. Maybe some random factors I haven't witnessed there.
