This place may be good for Lasik and Dr Coad but i should have paid attention to all of the one star reviews for actual eye exam and eye health. Today after an hour in the office waiting to get an eye exam i just walked out. Rude staff and super annoying paperwork and up selling techniques abound ( plastic surgery anyone?) i would give this place no stars. Went back to my sick baby at home and still have no idea why I have blurred vision - don't waste your time and money these people are the worst.I am sure they will charge me some BS based on all of the other comments i see here and on yelp

I had a brief moment of panic as I tried to push my glasses up my nose. Then I remembered, after 59 years of poor vision, I didn't need glasses anymore. I went to Chelsea Eye & Cosmetic Surgery for a routine examination and a new eyeglass prescription, I walked out with an appointment for cataract removal and replacement with an astigmatism-correcting Toric lens. Dr. Coad explained the procedure and options to me and Vace expertly guided me through paperwork and preoperative instructions. The surgery went perfectly at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary. Everyone was caring and professional. I knew the moment I left the building that a profound change had occurred.I could read, watch TV, perform tasks with no glasses. This all with just one eye corrected. I have now had the procedure on both eyes. The world is brighter and more colorful. I carry a pair of drugstore reading glasses for very fine print. Previously, I spent a lot of money on my exotic prescription. All my glasses have been deposited in the box for charity at Dr.Coad's office. I wear safety glasses when performing work around the house to protect the precious clarity of sight that was restored by Dr.Coad and his team.This experience is the only one in my life that I can call miraculous.

I corresponded with Christine, the LASER coordinator, via email to book my initial consultation. She was so warm and friendly when I arrived, and was the most patient and detailed in explaining and answering all of my questions. She did such a wonderful job setting my expectations from the initial visit and there was no hard sell. She told me that I would have access to her at all times and could call/text all throughout my recovery if I had any questions or concerns at all. She sets up the lasers and has many years of experience (even before Dr. Coad) and has been working with Dr. Coad for 9 years. Though my time with Dr. Coad was limited during the consult since I spent so much more time with Christine, I found him to be very pleasant and knowledgeable. The day of the procedure went very smoothly and I felt cared for the entire step of the way. My the next morning, my post op checkup revealed that I could already read from the 20/20 line on an eye chart! It's been 5 weeks since I got LASIK and I'm very happy with my choice to go with Dr. Coad.

The surgery itself was a no brainer... painless, quick, and best of all I can see again. The surprising part however was the attention that I got from all the staff at Chelsea Eye; more specifically, from Christine. They explained everything thoroughly and put any questions I had at ease. Throughout the whole process and after my surgery I would get texts from Christine reminding me of my appointments and when to stop my meds. Having said that, she also said that she was available for any questions concerns or anything any time. I have to say that I have never gotten this sort of attention from any doctor out there. I live alone in NY with my family being abroad and I can say that I was treated the way my mom would treat me whenever I was sick. I felt at home at Chelsea Eye, and best of all I got amazing results with the lasik procedure.

Christine Von Becker and Dr. Coad provided an exceptional experience throughout the process of offering my laser eye surgery. I was skeptical at first, as the eyes are among the most critical organs from a lifestyle point of view, so I have held off improving them for a long time. However from the time I entered the office my for my first consultation to the time I walked out with my new eyes, I felt at ease. I could not have asked for better people to guide me through the process. As for the results, I was very happy. My first trip post-surgery was to Lake George about a month later, and the colors popped like never before. Everything was crisper, as though I had taken a filter off my eyes. It was a moving moment... Now approximately 3 months later, I am happy to say everything is fine, except for random dryness which I solve with a few eye drops if I have been staring at the monitor too long. I knew as soon as I met Christine that I wanted to get my LASIK done at Chelsea Eye. I had been to a few other offices and I didn't feel nearly as comfortable anywhere else as I did at Chelsea Eye. I had LASIK with Dr. Coad two days ago, and I struggle to put into words how positive the experience was. First, the process was a complete success. After over 30 years of wearing glasses, I now have 20/15 vision and can see better than I ever did with glasses or contacts. Second, Dr. Coad and the director of his LASIK program, Christine, did an incredible job in every way. They prepared me for the experience by explaining everything very thoroughly, answering questions I didn't even think to ask and taking extra care to make sure I understood and felt comfortable. During the procedure, they explained everything as it was happening, counting down the brief moments when the laser is doing its thing. Any anxiety I might have had was completely relieved by their excellent bedside manner throughout the procedure. By comparison with other medical procedures I've had, this was like white-glove concierge service. I got text reminders before and after to make sure everything went smoothly. They were kind and supportive at every point. If only all doctors and their staffs were this good. I chose Dr. Coad on the recommendation of several co-workers who had their LASIK surgery performed by him, and after researching several other doctors. If you're thinking about LASIK, I can wholeheartedly recommend that you do it, and that you look no further than Dr. Coad and Christine.

You have to order your own contact lenses and they do not accept insurance, even if it covers the cost of your contact lenses. After I found this out I went back to my previous Eye Doctor, they ordered the contact lenses for me and and put it through my insurance. It was 100% covered! Saved me $242 and alot of hassle.

It has been 6 MONTHS since I had LASIK on my eyes, and it has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. Like many people, I was worried for years about getting it done; mostly fear of the unknown. Well if that is you too, then PLEASE go to DR. Coad and Christine, because I can think of no better people to work with. After decades of being dependent on contact lenses and glasses to see far away, I spent the last year suffering from eye redness, infections and irritations from the newest brand of lens I was prescribed. So, I decided to look into LASIK. But it took me a long time to decide on LASIK because, to be frank, it's not a cheap procedure and we're talking about my eyes. I have an active profession (dancer) and play sports so the thought of hurting myself was prevalent. With a recommendation form a coworker, I was given Dr. Coad and Christine's name. Best. Decision. Ever. Christine, the 1st person you will me, is so sweet and patient. She is a true caretaker who semed to be most concern with my personal understanding and calmness with the procedure. She educated me on the entire process; I've never met a medical professional who cared so much for patients even before they become patients. She wrote personal emails, gave me her phone number, checked in on me throughout the course of prep, surgery and post op, You then meet Dr. Coad.! He is beyond knowledgable, and gets more excited the more he talks about the work. He has a great bedside manner, and I felt at ease with him as my doctor to perform the procedure. He constantly reminded me of what to expect before and after so there were no surprises on my end. No question that I was in great hands. The Chelsea Eye Center is extremely clean and well organized. They put you through a battery of tests to be as certain as they can about how to treat/prep you best. They are EXTREMELY thorough. I actually had a consultation with another doctor who had performed LASIK just to double check all the findings. Concerning the actual procedure, the whole thing as extremely quick. You come in, get prep, and then lay down in front of the doctor. There are two side by side machines that do all the work. You get placed under one machine, and get an incision made on you eye (you feel an extremely weird pressure, like someone is pushing on your eyeball, but I did NOT feel pain). Then the seat moves you to the other machine, where you hear a bunch of noise but you don't feel anything. The hardest part, as with most eye exams, was to focus on the light above you for a minute or so. Now, I did not have the "sit up and see the world" results that some people have with the procedure. Everything was extremely blurry, and my right eye was worse than my left. It watered terribly for about a week, and the "halo" effect was worse in one eye over the other. I was convinced that the procedure failed and that I was going to go blind..:) However, since Christine is so wonderful, so talked me down on several occasions. After a week went by, I noticed a significant change. The world became crisp and clear, and my eyes stopped watering. It is now six months later, and I COULD NOT BE HAPPIER! My eye sight is 20/15! Do yourself a favor, and set up an appointment for a consultation. Once you meet them, I guarantee you will move forward with this major step in your life!!

I have seen Dr. Coad in the past and he is great. I've recommended him to friends, who also like him. The front desk is nice, the eye exam itself was thorough. For the first time I saw Dr. Yoon yesterday. Although very nice, and good reviews, my experience was I didn't feel that she listened to my questions. She kept talking about things which I wasn't asking and seemed somewhat distracted. The office was quite busy, and backed up -- perhaps she was having a bad day or was just busy and running behind. With alI that said, I do highly recommend Dr. Coad.

I had cataracts removed by Dr. Christopher Coad of Chelsea Eye, and I was extraordinarily pleased with the results. i went from having very poor vision in my left eye, to having nearly 20/20 vision for the first time in my life. Dr. Coad explained every step in the process, patiently addressing all of my concerns, and helping me choose the special implant that would correct my severe astigmatism. The surgical coordinator, Vace Marisenovic, made the complex process as painless as possible, lining up the post-op medications I needed, and helping me through the scheduling. All of my eye care has been handled by Chelsea eye for many years, and I have never found them to be anything less than friendly, competent and helpful. I was told that Dr Coad was one of the premier eye surgeons in the country, and after seeing the results of his work, I believe it!. I am a visual artist, and there is nothing in the world more precious to me than my eyesight. After the surgery, I woke up to a technicolor world like I haven't seen in many years, filled with the most dazzling sunsets, and greens and blues and violets that make me see the world all over again. My thanks to Dr. Coad for restoring my vision and color perception.

I got LASIK here three weeks ago and I can't shut up about how great it was. To be frank, they changed my life. First, Dr. Coad and his team (ESPECIALLY Christine and Timmy) are truly fantastic. They are kind and knowledgeable and damn good at what they do. I was on the fence about LASIK, and they walked me through every step of it. They ensured I was a good candidate and gave me perhaps even more detail about the potential pluses and minuses of the surgery than I wanted. In other words, I felt very clear about what I was signing up for. The surgery went exactly as they described, and I felt truly cared for by them. I've had doctors who are very smart and talented before (which Coad is), but few who have the kind of bedside manner that he and his team have. (If you don't fall in love with Christine, you're a monster.) I'm definitely a success story because not only did I gain 20/15 eyesight (from about 20/350), but I've had exactly zero side effects. Not even eye dryness. It's been a dream. I can't believe I didn't do this sooner -- I can't recommend LASIK--and them--enough!

Horrible experience. First, after receiving no less than 5 reminders for my appointment (email, text, call) they keep me waiting over 40 minutes. Second and most disturbing was the doctor who either didn't care or is incompetent. Didn't properly diagnose me. Fortunately I went to another ophthalmologist for a second opinion and was properly diagnosed. And now in treatment. Never going back. Place does more harm than good.

I've arrived at my third month since my LASIK surgery with Dr. Christopher Coad and with now 20/20 vision, I couldn't be more pleased. Dr. Coad came highly recommended by my dear friend and co-worker who had her surgery 6 years ago, so I approached this surgery already confident and expecting great things from the doctor. Dr. Coad has the warmest bedside manner; he is thorough in explaining the details of surgery and so patient with answering all of my questions. I was truly impressed by this quality in Dr. Coad, because I can say from experience that this, unfortunately, isn't always the case with doctors during consultations. Under Dr. Coad's care I felt that I was given the time I personally needed to understand all of the information and to feel at ease about the proceedings. His attention to personalized care, really sets Dr. Coad apart for me as a great physician. I must also acknowledge Dr. Coad's LASIK director, Christine. She is wonderful! and her cheerful demeanor is contagious. In Christine I felt that I had my own private nurse. She really goes beyond her call of duty to make you comfortable and to explain (and re-explain) any part of surgery you may be confused about. Christine volunteered her e-mail address and her mobile number in addition to her number at the office, so that I could reach her at any time and this gesture truly made me feel comfortable and cared for. I loved that Christine was with me throughout the entire process: from the initial consultation, to the pre-operative testing, to surgery day and finally the last visits after surgery. I remember how on the day of surgery, Christine and Dr. Coad were so comforting and so reassuring in the operating room as they explained each step being perfomed. I was beyond impressed by how well they worked together and how intuitively they both said the right things to reassure me and calm my nerves at the (very few) moments during surgery at which I was a bit nervous (only a bit). They later told me that they've been working together for over 10 years. The surgery was over in no time and I couldn't believe that I could see without glasses/contacts just the next day... AMAZING! Christine is the sweetest person I've ever met and she took such good care of me through the whole process from my first consultation to my procedure a year later. BEWARE THEY DON"T APPLY "VISION CLAIM" I asked the front desk if they accept my insurance to get my eyes examined, she looked at it said yes then I had my eyes examined, everything was smooth then they charged me 75 $. I said what is this, they said they had done some extra things, I paid, then I saw that they claimed the money that they charged from me from my insurance company as "MEDICAL CLAIM" So eventually my medical insurance doesn't pay a routine eye exam it need to be claimed as Vision. I called them back to change it to claim as "Vision" but the response was. We are a private practice we only claim "Medical" .

I have perfect vision now. Imagine 50 years of reaching for glasses and no longer needing to do so. I'm an open water marathon swimmer thar no longer is lost at sea. Chelsea Eye Ophthalmology was a great experience. Elizabeth, the LASIK coordinator, was extremely helpful from my consultation visit through surgery and post op visits. I went in for my consultation and i was scheduled for surgery the next week. The staff made the experience extremely easy and comforting as they assured me i was a great candidate after performing a number of tests. The surgery itself was a breeze and there were no surprises. Everything went exactly as the staff promised it would and I'm seeing 20/15 as of my 1 month checkup. Dr. Coad, Elizabeth, and the rest of the staff really are top notch and I would recommend anyone go check out their practice if you're considering LASIK.

I had Lasik eye surgery two weeks ago and I am over the moon!!! Christine was so incredibly amazing through out the whole experience. They never rushed me or pressured me into the surgery. At every point I felt like I was in excellent hands. I was absolutely terrified but Christine was so calming and amazing that I knew it would be fine. And I can see so so so clearly. Recovery has been super easy and the surgery was so easy. No pain at all just some pressure that made me nervous but it was all fine. I would recommend them to anyone and everyone!!!! They were informative, professional, caring and most importantly, delivered a superb result which I can't be thankful enough for. A friend recommended me to them, and my ophthalmologist cousin recommended Dr. Coad, so I went with him and couldn't be happier. Also was very fairly priced, especially considering they use top of the line technology. Highly recommend getting their free consultation at the very least if you are even considering getting LASIK!

Life changing! I recently had the iLasik procedure with Dr. Coad and I couldn't be happier. The facilities are very clean and organized. The staff are very friendly and thorough with all the information during every step preparing for your surgery. Nicole Solomon, my Lasik coordinator, was there with me every step of the way and made the process seamless. Dr. Coad kept me very calm during the procedure and gave me very clear instructions and let me know what was going to happen next. I was given post-op instructions and even received follow up texts from Nicole to make sure I'm doing well :) I felt very well taken care of and heard. I would recommend Chelsea Eye Ophthalmology for all your eye needs. The follow-up appointment the day after the surgery I was already seeing 20/20 and I believe in a month when I have my next follow-up I will probably see 20/15! I'm 34 years old and I have had to use glasses since I was 6, so this is the most amazing thing I have experience!

I had a great experience throughout the whole process. Christine, the LASIK coordinator, made me feel so calm and confident. Dr. Coad was extremely professional, his certainty and guidance made the entire procedure so easy. When I entered the surgery room, Christine said “Welcome, here is where the magic begins”. I felt like I am at Disney World, like a kid in a candy store. Indeed, it is a miraculous procedure, after years of wearing glasses with astigmatism and not seeing 100%, the morning after the LASIK I am seeing 20/20! I've always wanted to get Lasik, but wasn't sure I'd be a candidate with my extreme myopia (my eyes are -9 & -9.75). When I finally decided to get evaluated, the first doctor I saw told me that I should get PRK because of how bad my eyes are and how much of my cornea needed to be removed. I;d heard some scary stuff about PRK and wanted a second opinion and went to Dr. Coad, and I'M SO GLAD I DID!! He reassured me that I was a totally reasonable candidate, and I took the plunge and had my Lasik procedure done! This was less than three weeks ago and I'm already seeing better than I ever saw with my contacts or glasses. I do have a bit of dryness, but it's already better than it was initially and Dr. Coad suspects it will continue to improve. Even if not, it would be totally 110% worth it. I feel so much more free when traveling, and my day doesn't screech to a halt if I drop my glasses or lose a contact lens anymore! I also can't say enough about how great the surgical coordinator Elizabeth is. She was so patient and reassuring throughout the process. Dr. Coad is great at what he does, but Elizabeth is the one who was really responsible for how positive my experience was. She was honest, straightforward, realistic, super responsive, and I just trusted her instantly. Dr. Coad, if you're reading this, you should probably give her a raise-- I might have kept looking elsewhere if your support staff wasn't so on point from Day 1. In summation, if you're a person who is considering this procedure, I can't urge you enough to visit this office to be evaluated. It's absolutely the best thing I have ever done for myself. Last week when it snowed, I stood outside weeping-- it was literally the most beautiful thing I've ever seen, because for the first time, I can see it clearly.
