I had been getting my glasses and eyes checked every 2 years @ Koetting. My last pair of glasses was $660. I was NEVER TOLD I had cataracts, which is why my vision in my right eye was so bad....they just kept increasing my prescription, which didn't do much at all - still blurry all the time. Since I had cataract surgery in my right eye, my vision is 20\30; I just need reading glasses for close up. I have since had cataract surgery in my left eye; vision improved immensely. All I can say is FOLLOW THE MONEY! There was no more $660 glasses, just better vision! My new glasses were $159 at a local store.

I never had problems in the summer because of the high humidity and using eye drops twice daily. But last summer my eyes felt like they did in the dead of winter, dry and continually irritated, using non stop eye drops. After the Lipiflow treatment (about 15 minutes) at Koetting Associates in August 2018, I could really tell my eyes were better because it was January 2019, no irritation and only using eye drops twice daily again. Felt like my "summer" eyes. Dr. Castellano and his staff did a thorough examination . Dry eyes greatly improved. I've been a patient of Koetting Associates and Dr. Castellano for many years. They are wonderful keeping up with all new treatment methods and caring about their patients.

As a person visiting optometrists and opthamologists starting at the age of 2 and 1/2 years old, I have much experience to compare offices and doctors. My parents finally took me to Dr. Robert Searfoss, a pioneer in using eye and vision training, who was not a surgery proponent for children unlike much of the medical field of the 70s. He improved my vision through hard contact lens wear, eye exercises and training my brain. He retired and on to his successor. Finally I asked for a reference from my optical supplier here in town and he said, "Castellano is the best. Here is is his number." And he was right. I have been a patient for I believe 10 years now. I am very happy not only with Dr. Castellano's ability and expertise, but also his professionalism. His sons are following in his footsteps. The office is run like a well oiled machine and everyone is willing to help you. As a tour operator & director I'm in and out of the country and in and out of town frequently. They work with me to get me in for appointments as well as when I have a last minute eye issue. I recommend Koetting without reservation and know you will be pleased.

They are centrally located on Brentwood and they have recently opened a new facility in west county. You make an appointment, arrive, check in, wait a very short time, before you're called in, get the exam, get their advice, make a future appointment, pay, get in your car and drive home. They are nice, caring people who know what they're doing because they've been in this business for a very long time.

Everything started out great - I was having vision problems and they tried everything - new glasses, hard contacts, soft contacts, multiple eye exams and tests. Finally found out I actually had cataracts, so I needed surgery. Once I had the surgery, I no longer had a need for contacts - I emailed them twice and called them twice asking about a refund (I still had the contacts and it was within the timeframe allotted). I never received a call back and I eventually gave up trying. It's too bad, because up to that point they were fantastic.

I like the fact that you never have your eyes checked by the same staff member in two consecutive visits. Koetting provides a thorough eye exam using up-to-date technology. Staff seems knowledgeable and experienced. They offer a wide range of options for vision correction and frame styles. Prices for lenses and frames are comparable to other large optical providers, which is to say much higher than big box and discount chains. Using my prescription from Koetting I was able to purchase the same brand lenses at a big box for less than half the Koetting price. I would have liked to return to Koetting for my annual exam, but, as of 2019, they no longer accept the eye insurance from Essence Health.
