I went in for my six month check up today. The visit was per usual. The front desk handled my new insurance quickly & got me back. Dr. Turner was quick as usual recommending the extra test not covered by insurance, in and out. My visit was wrapping up and it was time to purchase my contact lenses. Heather, the purchaser, was the individual that changed my whole office visit. She called me to your desk and I didn’t hear her, so she repeated herself with a great deal of disrespect... okay, fine... I get annoyed too when I have to repeat myself. When I got to her desk, she began to tell me what my insurance would cover (three boxes with roughly 10$ OOP) but recommended the 6 months supply (which would be roughly 50$ OOP). Telling me these numbers I called my mom to see which was best & Heather began to act as if I was an inconvenience to her (note I had a 9:30 appt. I was the only person in the office) I said it was no issue coming OOP to be able to see, and she rolled her eyes and turned her chair and snickered to the lady using the printer. I asked her was everything okay, and if there was an issue (also note, i’m on the phone with my mom at this point). She stated that it was ridiculous that Inwas having to hold her up calling my mom to make these decisions. I then asked for someone else’s help because I didn’t feel as if Heather should talk to me that way. Heather then walked away making comments. I was told no one else in the office knew how to order contacts besides Heather so I could write down my purchase decision and they would call back to get my card number. I am extremely disappointed in my encounter at Dr. Turner’s office with Heather today. I have never been disrespected by a medical professional until today, and honestly— I hope it is the last time I am ever made to feel unwelcomed at one of my providers.
