I had one appointment at the Birmingham location and was extremely happy with all all the people I met with. However when I left that day I provided a letter from Beaumont financial department. This letter indicated that services I received should be taking care of due to my financial situation. After the young lady spoke with someone in the building area I was advised this would be taken care of. A few weeks later I received a bill for $95 which prompted a call for me to billing. We worked out a payment option and reduced my obligation to $50. While I was not happy with that I did end up paying $25 last month and the balance will be paid this month.
I recently was suffering from pain and extreme redness in my right eye and was told that I should go see a specialist by a local eyeglass doctor who did not feel comfortable and diagnosing my problem. I immediately went to the office and asked if I could be seeing even though I did not have an appointment. I was told that my doctor was booked through noon however I could see him at the other location in Troy. I was been told they could squeeze me in to the Birmingham location before noon. Since I was billed for my last appointment I asked the receptionist if I could speak to the biller and after several requests by me for this, she finally reached out to someone and the first things out of the receptionist mouth was, "I don't know she didn't tell me". The next thing I heard was that if I expected to be seen and have the visit comped for the letter, that I needed to go to Beaumont facility because they would not see me if I was unwilling to pay. While my financial situation is bad, my intention was to discuss with the biller that I would like to make payment arrangements. I was very upset that they thought I was trying to get out of paying a bill which was not my intention. I was embarrassed while this was going on there were a few people in the lobby. I turned around and I left the office without having my problem looked at or addressed. I then called to speak with the manager who is not available and I was told by an employee that she would let the manager know to give me a call on the following business day. This did not happen, but I called and she indicated the message said I would call her. That was not
the case. Yet more problems with the office staff. Anyway I talk to the manager and expressed my frustration and absolutely nothing came from this conversation. She repeatedly asked me what she could do to try to make this right but had absolutely no suggestions and since I was embarrassed I told her that I decided to leave the practice and go elsewhere for my eye issues in the near future or as needed. What a shame bad an office staff can make someone feel the way I felt. There is such a thing as customer service and apparently this facility needs to work on that.
