Dr. Akler and her assistant Barbara answered all my questions and did not rush through my office visit. I had my surgery a week ago. I woke up the day after and could see like I was wearing contacts! I highly recommend Dr. Akler! I have been telling all my friends that wear contacts or glasses to make an appointment, you will be happy you did!

I did consults with 3 different LASIK professionals in the area and decided to move forward with Dr. Akler. She graduated from the University of Toronto, where the procedure was first mastered. Her $$$ was less than the other two, and the individuals at the office were all extremely professional and answered all my questions (all 1,000 of them). If your thinking about it, go do it. Dr. Akler has your best interests in mind.

I recently got LASIK from Dr. Akler and am amazed at the results and the overall experience! The consultation was easy and very informative. The staff is very friendly and put me at ease about the procedure, answering all the questions I had. The procedure itself felt like it only took about ten minutes. Dr Akler and her staff talked to me the entire time, which helped me relax. Afterwards I could immediately see better. I slept for a few hours when I got home and when I woke up I could see almost perfectly, it seemed like I had contacts in. My eyes stung a little bit the first day, but by the second day most discomfort was already gone. Now my vision is amazing, and my only regret is not doing this years ago :)

Dr. Akler had come recommended by friends and family but after the consultation I had no doubts about using her. The surgery itself was spot on to what her and her Team had prepared me for. The staff members at Michigan Outpatient Surgery Center were very gentle and efficient at moving me through the process. The following morning I was able to drive myself to the post op appointment. I'd have to say it felt different and awesome not needing corrective lenses. All in all, Dr. Akler and her Team were Top Notch. Highly recommend! P.S. For those that may fail to meet her one post op requirement which is to protect those perfect eyes, especially only a week after surgery, Dr. Akler can even fix them on a weekend :) My eyes (life) are owed to her for her out of the way help to re-position the flap only an hour after I damaged it. I did a lot of research on different doctors and read a lot of reviews before choosing to go see a doctor. I went and sat down with Dr. Akler and went over all of my options. She was upfront about the risk, costs, etc. I felt very comfortable with her from day one. Even though she was a little more expensive than some other doctors in my area I felt that she was worth it. I couldn’t have been more right. The surgery was quick and painless. The discomfort that I did feel afterwards I was already prepared for and it wasn’t nearly as bad as Dr. Akler said it could be. Now I’m seeing 20/15 the day after my surgery and I couldn’t be happier. I’ve already recommended her to my brother and I would recommend her to anyone looking for a great lasik experience.

I personally had undertaken the Lasik treatment recently, performed by Dr. Akler and she was excellent to say the least. She made sure I what aware of exactly what to expect and ensured any questions I had were answered. She is very knowledgeable and confident in her field which is always a positive indicator, especially when it comes to medical treatments. During the actual procedure itself, she made it as comfortable is it could possibly be (playing music, speaking directly to you so you know what to expect, etc.) and this allowed me to calm my nerves and essentially just trust her to do what she does best. I could not have asked for better results. The supporting staff is very kind and supportive; they were able to answer any additional questions I had that I forgot to ask initially and were always available and willing to help whether it be in person or over the phone. This procedure, initially, was very nerve-wrecking and I felt extremely anxious not knowing what to expect, but by the end of my preliminary checkup, I felt confident that I had nothing to worry about.

I had by eyes done a year ago. Before I could barely see more than a few feet in front of me with any clarity. After my vision was better than 20/20 and remains so a year later. Be aware though that the surgery takes place out in Canton, not at the office location. Make sure you get someone to drive you home and the sun will hurt your eyes a lot, so bring some kind of cover for your eyes after for the drive home. You'll be uncomfortable for a couple hours after, but follow their instructions, use the eye drops, and you'll never regret it. You'll never get more value for your money on anything else you buy.

I searched for quite a while before I found Akler Eye Center. I read multiple reviews and decided this was the place I would go for my Lasik treatment. I called and set up an appointment, and they were able to get me in very quickly. All of Doctor Akler's staff was very friendly, as was Doctor Akler herself. I was surprised that I got to meet with her at my consultation. After the consultation, my surgery was set for only two weeks away! I was pleasantly surprised. Going in for the surgery I was very nervous, but everyone involved really did their best to put me at ease. The whole process went very quickly, and Doctor Akler talked me through the whole thing. It's been less than a week, but already my vision had improved so much, and I no longer need to wear glasses. Best decision ever!

I was very pleased with the entire process. The staff at the Dearborn office was pleasant and very professional, and Dr. Akler was fantastic. The procedure was a piece of cake and now I can see 20/15 (better than 2020). I scheduled my first evaluation appointment in October and had the surgery scheduled for Nov 7th, so they are FAST. The surgery was done in Fraser, MI at a very nice outpatient surgery center and I was only there about an hour total. The surgery seemed to take less than 10 minutes and there was very little discomfort. Within 24 hours, I could see 20/15. The total cost was less than I anticipated and there were zero hidden fees. I should have done it sooner.

I had been wanting Lasik for years, so when I realized that I actually had the money to start turning that dream into reality I turned to Google to find the best person to do the job. Dr. Akler was the highest rated one, so I read some of the reviews. I was happy to see that even the negative reviews (of which there were few) got feedback from the office that was incredibly professional. The thing that cinched it for me, though, was how close the location was to me. I went ahead and made an appointment with the doctor for a consultation. On the day of the appointment, I arrived in a lovely little waiting room and signed in. While I did have to wait much longer than planned, this was mostly due to the amount of people ahead of me (which to me is actually a good sign, since that means that her services are good enough to warrant a line). I wasn't bored, though, since AFV was being shown on the tv there. Finally my turn came, and and any nerves I had were smoothed away by the kindness of the staff. They went ahead and scanned my eyes, double checked how bad my vision was, and explained what was going to happen should I continue with this process. I then met with Dr. Akler, who was able to answer any question I had in a way that made me feel comfortable. Now, more than ever, I felt confident that getting Lasik was a good idea. When it came time to make the appointment, I was taken slightly aback at the price, which was more than I had saved up. However, it wasn't unreasonably more expensive, and I was able to schedule my surgery much later than I had initially anticipated so that I could finish paying for it in full. Finally the day of the surgery came. My appointment was at a VERY early hour (which was a mixed blessing, since while I could use the rest of the day to recover I'm the type of person who loved my sleep). Driving with my step-mother- who had agreed to be the one to wait during the surgery in case something went wrong- out to the surgery location in Frasier, I could barely contain my excitement. We arrived, signed in, and waited for a little bit. My name was called, and I was given the medication that, while I won't say the name here, made me feel GREAT. I was then taken to a side room to allow the meds to fully take a hold of me, then I was brought into surgery. During the surgery, I felt like not much time had passed, however according to my stepmother I was in there for about two hours. During those hours, Dr. Akler kept explaining what was happening, and I felt as comfortable as I could be. After the surgery, I could already tell just how much better my vision was to the point where when the nurses tried to explain to me that things would be a bit blurry I responded, "Are you kidding? I can already see better than I have in years!" I was then given the packet with the things I needed for the post op, and then I met back up with my stepmother. During the drive home, things got a little rough due to how bad my eyes began to sting and water (at that point, they were tearing up so bad I felt like a teenage girl who just broke up with her love), however thankfully I was allowed to take some Advil as soon as I got home, and promptly after took a nap to recover some of my lost sleep. All throughout that day after I woke up, I was so amazed at how well I could see. The next day, I felt so great that after my initial follow-up appointment (which went extremely well) I was able to go back to work with no problems. And now here I am, a month later, and I still feel amazing. I feel like I've smiled more now than I have in a long while, and I love having the freedom that my glasses did not allow me before. All in all, if you're considering Lasik for yourself, I HIGHLY recommend you visit Dr. Akler for your consultation at the very least. You won't regret it.

I had been using a contact in one eye for Mono-vision with great luck, but admittedly not very faithful with contact care and cleaning. Dr. Akler and her team recommended Lasik surgery to enhance my vision and end my reliance on Contacts. I cannot express in words how amazing the whole experience was for me....right after the surgery I could see as if I had my contact in... unbelievable. The surgery was totally painless and only took what seemed to be a minute. Dr. Akler explained the procedure during the entire process. The Akler team demonstrated exceptional patient care before, during, and after the surgery. Best money I've ever spent! I was referred to this clinic by a friend who had Lasik done here and had a great experience. Dr. Akler and her staff were extremely professional and comprehensive, walked me through everything they were doing, and explained why the procedure they chose was the best one for me. I had glasses/contacts for nearly 25 years. My prescription was -8.5 before getting iLasik and the next day I now have 20/15 vision. My eyes burned for a couple of hours right after, but after going home and napping for a few hours I woke with no discomfort at all. Lasik sounds much scarier than it actually is (and it only took a couple of minutes)- definitely go see Dr. Akler!

First things first... Like most people, I was terrified about LASIK.. My eyes were terrible (-6). I didn't think I'd be a candidate but I figured the free consult was the least I could do. I couldn't believe I was eligible and there had actually been worse eyes that got the surgery. I'm SUPER happy I got over my fears and got the surgery. It's been a month since and it has easily been one of the best decisions I've made. I would recommend to everyone. The staff at Akler Eye Center in Dearborn was very friendly and made me comfortable to be there. The office was nice and timely. Dr. Akler was straight forward and very nice as opposed to some doctors where you feel like just another number. The surgery was a breeze. Nothing to be nervous about. the staff relaxes you to the point where the fears of "what if I move my eyes?" is irrelevant. You won't move your eyes... The surgery is painless and over in like 2 minutes. After surgery you will want to just sleep. By the same evening I was playing with the dogs and watching TV. Don't be scared like me. It was a fantastic experience and well worth it. Thanks to the team at Akler Eye Center!

My experience with Dr Akler and her staff has been awesome! Respectful, courteous, professional, and personable -- every one of them, even at the out-patient center where the surgery is performed. I wore glasses for 30 years, with the last ten being at -8.50 in each eye. I was terrified at the thought of ever being somewhere unfamiliar and losing my glasses. (Contact lenses were uncomfortable.) Not only that, I've never had clear night vision, and had experienced an unexplained vision loss in one eye a few years ago. ALL OF THESE were corrected by the procedure performed by Dr Akler! The procedure itself was so quick, I couldn't believe it. I could clearly see the time on the clock across the room as soon as I sat up after the procedure. About an hour later, my eyes felt extremely uncomfortable but that went away in less than four hours. At the next-day follow-up appointment with Dr Akler, my vision was already better than 20/20! A few days later, I drove at nighttime and was truly amazed at how clearly I could see... EVERYTHING! When I turned onto my street, I realized that I could even see traffic on the road ahead -- A MILE AWAY! Since then, my eyes have healed perfectly and I'm only using eye drops the same frequency as I did before having surgery. THANK YOU, Dr Michelle Akler, Barbara, and all of the staff members who have helped me in any way during this major life event. As a patient who does not like dealing with medical professionals in general, my recommendation does not come lightly. However, I highly recommend Akler Eye Center! They have truly earned all five stars.

Front desk staff were welcoming and nice but I only reason I came here was because of the good reviews about Dr.Akler & getting lasik if you’re a person with astigmatism. The lady who did my eye exam told me that I shouldn’t get lasik surgery that it’ll only make it worse and to go somewhere else I was very bummed to hear that because I was really excited about not having to wear eye glasses anymore. I thought if so then maybe it shouldn’t be advertised on your website so I’ll be going somewhere else.

It has been about 1 month since my second eye surgery I was done and am so happy with the results. I had the multi-focal lens put in so I no longer need glasses. At first I was scared and flabbergasted that I had cataracts, but, my optometrist reassured me he has seen them in all generations. My first visit was scary and it drove me nuts until surgery day. The staff at the Dearborn Surgery Center are remarkable. They talk with you and let you know everything is going to be okay. When they take you to the surgery room, Dr. Akler is her cheery self and plays music in the background which is pretty cool. You don't see anything or feel anything. Oh, let me go back, when she puts your new lens in, it is all these pretty colors, almost like a rainbow. It's Awesome. Dr. Akler removed cataracts from both eyes and I HIGHLY recommend her for you or someone you knows needs eye surgery. She is very nice, great sense of humor and you feel very comfortable around her.

My sister and I did lots of research before choosing Dr. Akler for Lasik, and it was WELL worth it. From the friendly staff who are always available, to giving you appointments that are convenient for you, to the pricing and options for Lasik- I would absolutely recommend! Dr. Akler is so sweet, warm, and welcoming. She was very personable and made me feel comfortable. The surgery center is a little far from the office, but I was in and out in the 2 hour window they told me. The actual Lasik surgery lasted all of 5 minutes (start to finish), and I didn’t feel a thing! I could actually see and read all of the signs as I walked out of surgery, it was amazing. If I had to do it again, I would choose Dr. Akler, hands down!

I has my Lasik done about 2 years ago. I've been stalling to write a review because the people and Dr Akler were very nice throughout everything. However, since my surgery was not what I would call a great success, I feel like I should let others know. First off my vision was, I believe, -7.5 and -8.0 with slight astigmatism in one eye. Even with this I was told that I was an excellent candidate because I still had a lot of healthy (cornea?) to work with. I was over corrected during the surgery. What this means for me is that my vision is still blurry except that since it was over corrected eyeglass and/or contact lenses cannot be used to fix this. One eye is worse than the other so it constantly feels like I have to rub my eyes to clear away "gunk, aka eye boogers" that's making it blurry (what used to do when it happened). Digital screens are awful to read on. the lights contrasting with one another make words very difficult. I have to sit at the front of a meeting room again or I can't read the projection screen, and I have to invade personal spaces at work if someone is showing me something on their computer screen. (which is awkaward). Night vision causes a lot of glare and dry eye is awful. (both known possible side affects) but that still occurr daily. I spend about $800 a year on preservative free eye drops -shows you how often I need them throughout the day. Basically the dry eye messes with my brain to make me feel much more tired than I am so getting out of bed is much more difficult now, and feeling like I'm nodding off at work tends to be just that I need to resfresh my eyes. Dr Akler and her techs spent about half a year trying to figure out how to fix what the surgery did. By the end of it they were grasping at straws trying to come up with a solution, so I finally just stopped coming back. And they must have known it was a lost cause because I only got a one: you missed your appointment phone call. Do I blame them?....I honestly don't know. But they were very nice and they did attempt to solve my vision problem for half a year! Would I do it all over again? No. I'd have preferred still having to wear glasses even after a correction vs having this weird blurry vision issue that glasses or anything to that matter can fix. And honestly, I thought after two years that maybe it'd just turn into an annoyance I barely would notice and be okay with everything, but it's still an issue that I constantly reminded of every minute of the day. I know sometimes responses are left for these reviews that they want to try and fix the issue and I'll be honest, I won't reach back out to them because I don't believe that they can help, we've already tried for half a year and now I live over an hour away.

Had lasik mono vision surgery. Dr. Akler and her team took extra time to make sure I would be happy with the results. I was calm and relaxed during surgery because Dr. Akler explained everything she was doing along the way. Post op was easy and painless. For most of my life, I have always needed glasses with every few years needing a stronger prescription. Occasionally I considered the LASIK procedure, but was always afraid something would go wrong and make my vision worse. This year, I finally decided it was worth the risk and setup a consultation. I was not sure if I would be a candidate as my vision was very poor, but I was happy to learn that I was a good candidate and setup an appointment immediately. I went to Dr. Akler on the recommendation of a friend. I thought they were very efficient and friendly. Everyone I encountered on staff was really great. I needed an eye exam and a little laser surgery on one eye. I had a preliminary exam from a technician and she explained exactly what would happen when the doctor examine me and did the surgery. She also check to see exactly what would be covered by my insurance (which was everything) so I wouldn't have any unexpected surprises. When I saw Dr. Akler she was also very friendly and pleasant. She again explained exactly what would happen during the laser surgery, which I really appreciated. There were no surprises. It all went as planned - quick and easy. I have no hesitation in recommending the Akler Eye Center.

Dr. Akler is a extremely respectful and caring physician. She will listen to what you have to say. I highly recommend her! From early childhood, I was diagnosed with severe myopia. Over 18 years of wearing glasses I couldn't stand it anymore. My eyes couldn't even tolerate contact lens after 6 years of wearing them. I've tried every brand out there for astigmatism, along with trying different contact lens solutions. For about 4 months, I stopped wearing contacts due to severe irritation. I tried to give contacts another try, but after 4-6 hours of wearing them the irritation and discomfort came back. I got Lasik done back in June 2017, and 1.5 years later my vision stabilized to 20/15 in both eyes!

In the beginning I was a coward to get my cataract surgery but Doctor Adler was kind and encouraging. That helped me to make a decision to go ahead with my left eye. Now I am glad that I make the right decision. As a result of this, I can see everything crystal clear and now my vision is 20/20. I am planning to get my other eye (right eye ) done soon. I strongly recommend Doctor Adler for any eye issue and especially for cataract surgery. She is great and kind.

I recently had cataract surgery performed on both eyes by Dr. Akler. The results are phenomenal. I had monovision done that matched my monovision contacts. I am able to see clearly at both distance and up close. It's unbelievable. I can see dirt in my house now I couldn't see before. :-) The office visits were great, the office staff were all very nice and explained options clearly. My experience at the surgery center was equally pleasant; nice people and the schedule was like clockwork.

I am over-the-moon happy with Dr. Akler. My surgery was on Monday and today is Wednesday so I may be a little early with my review, however, I am very, very happy. She is personable, polite, informative, and really, really knows her job. I would highly recommend her. Prior to making my appointment with her I saw a different doctor, I felt like I was meeting with a slick car salesman who kept trying to upgrade me to the more expensive procedure. I called Dr. Akler's office with some questions and her Clinical coordinator, Roxanna, returned my call and spoke to me without rushing me or cutting me off and answered all my questions.
