I've been going to Walkersville Eye Care for many years. I am always greeted with a smile and the fastest service I have ever experienced at a vision center. Dr. Allgaier is always a wonderful person to deal with. The staff here is awesome. I will never go anywhere else for my vision needs. If your looking for a new place to go for your vision needs I highly recommend you check them out. You will not be disappointed!

Staff is very professional and friendly. Most thorough eye exam. They are diligent in monitoring any issue from year to year. Dr. Sklar is wonderful, as are the dispensing opticians. Highly recommend them (and I rarely, if ever, recommend!).

The Wolfen Family has done business at Walkersville Eye Care for over 20 years. In the 20 years I have had nothing but high praise for the doctors and staff. I have recommended them in the past to all of my family and friends. I stopped by today to request a copy of my prescription and was looking to get the PD measurements from my file. I needed this info to purchase a pair of motorcycle glasses I saw online. They were able to give me my basic prescription info but would not give me the PD measurement info that I needed. When one of the staff members overheard me requesting my eye info he jumped in and said quote: “I’m not giving you that information, why should I do all the work for another company to get your business”. I could tell that he was irritated when he came out of the back and saw a full lobby of customers. He then referenced that this is company policy and Walkersville Eye Care would be liable if he gave me this info and something happened. I then asked to speak to the store manager. She never came out to discuss this with me but sent someone out to tell me that for $25 dollars she would give me my PD measurements. All I can say to that is that is bullshit. It’s a shame that they would play these games with a lifelong customer all over $25. It is quite obvious to me that something has changed with Walkersville Eye Care and not for the good. I have spent thousands of dollars over the years on frames and prescriptions for not only me but my wife and two kids. As I said in the store politely, I will take my business somewhere else. And I will…!

They been my childhood eye care physicians and I continue to use their services even though I live 1.5 hours away. They are worth it. The doctors and staff at Walkersville Eyecare are so passionate about their work and they are also very flexible to work with. I have tried to look elsewhere due to the distance but other eye care offices just don't have the genuine care and concern like the one @ Walkersville Eyecare.

Dr. Allgaier and team were very friendly and helpful with everything I wanted to know about my eye care! I felt like they cared for me as a person, and really had my best interest in mind. Each person I interacted with was extremely knowledgeable with what they were doing and talked me through the process so I knew exactly what was going on. Will definitely continue my eye care here!!

I called to make an appointment, and gave them my insurance information. Spoke with them 3 more times prior to the appointment. Went in, and gave them all my insurance information again and nobody had the decency to tell me they didn’t take my insurance until they already had given me a complete exam and I was stuck with a large bill. This is no reflection on the optometrist I saw, very nice lady, but reflection on a business being so disrespectful to a costumer. I didn’t realized how ripped off I felt until I got to my car to drive back to work. Turns out my insurance would have covered that exam 100% if I had gone to a place that takes my insurance. So shame on me for believing them, when I talked to them the first time, that they accepted my insurance. Lesson learned, look for providers through insurance website!

I am very pleased with the manner in which the personnel mix professionalism with personal friendship and the way they use their experience dealing with insurance companies to reduce my costs. I consider the staff as friends, not just business acquaintances.

I started going here when I moved to Walkersville. The service was decent for a small town eyecare center. However, I noticed after my 'new patient' appointment, it's very difficult to get a reasonable timeframe for an appointment. My previous appointment, it took 2 months to get me in. Today I called and it will be 4 months until I can get an appointment - that's ridiculous, no one is that busy. New patients beware, this is your warning.

I have used this office for many many years. I have seen Dr Hub, with no complaints, but my normal doc is Dr. Allgaier who is friendly, knowledgeable and always looking out for my eye health! Dr. Scalr was named top eye doc in the county via Frederick's Best. The location is large, clean and the eye wear selection HUGE. The front desk staff is always ensuring your check in and out experience is orderly and everything insurance wise works out. Contacts always come within 10 days or so. They also have a children's room and children's eye program.

I live in Frederick and take the time to go to Walkersville Eyecare to meet my needs for eye exams and glasses. I have been a clients about 20 years. I recently forgot that my appointment had been rescheduled due to the Doctor going to a graduation. Although it was my fault that I did not correct my calendar with the new appointment time, the Doctor saw me. I know this was an inconvenience for him. And although he had somewhere to go, he took his time during the exam....just as he always has. I needed occupational glasses in addition to my progressive glasses. I needed the occupational glasses to be able to switch from viewing the computer to reading my documents. This second pair of glasses has been a life saver for me. I also love the employees who help me locate the best glasses to fit my face and will continue to take the time to adjust them as often as I need until they feel perfect. I do not know if Walkersville Eyecare is expensive. I only know I have one pair of eyes and I want to feel comfortable seeing. I like knowing I am treated as a client, not as credit card number. The staff is terrific. I highly recommend their doctors, office and store. Come SEE what a great place this is.

Choosing frames and fitting them once the prescription comes in is a breeze Sharon is quite knowledgeable and just has an intuition on what will look good. Walkersville Eyecare has been taking care of my eyes for decades. I have never had a problem they couldn't solve. Recently I had a scare concerning a retina issue. They found appointment time for me, checked me thoroughly and advised seeing a retina specialist and made the appointment for me.
