I’m not one to take to social media to express my sentiments. But, after several “Healing” experiences I’ve had with Dr. Jordana Fein, I felt somewhat powerless to remain on-the-sidelines, silent about the quality of care she’s provided me. I am a relatively fit male now 62 who has had retina issues with both of my eyes for the past couple of years. All visits associated with these issues were “Emergency” visits requiring immediate surgery. This was a new experience for me and somewhat disconcerting to say the least.
Within minutes after meeting Dr. Fein, I got the profound sense her concept of healing was more complete than most doctors with whom I’ve had an association. It’s somewhat difficult for me to express in words, but from the very moment Dr. Fein entered the room she always made me feel that the healing of my eyes were no less important than, if ever required, the healing of her own. Frankly, after multiple visits with Dr. Fein over the past couple of years, there’s somewhat of a blur (pun partially intended) between who is the patient and who is the healer: hers is an exemplary and refreshing approach to health care. She’s extremely competent in her occupation, of that there is not a modicum of doubt. But, what i hold somewhat to doubt is that the sort of human empathy in her mortal possession is something she acquired while attending Retina Surgery school.
I could conclude this review that both of my eyes are fully healed, and strangely, are somewhat improved in vision functionality. That’s wonderful, of course. But, that doesn’t go far enough. Dr. Fein is an invaluable resource to the Northern Virginia community. Those of us who are residents of this burgeoning community should be grateful for her presence here. We can learn a lot from a person like her. I know I have.
P.S. No one could honestly say, “Gee, I can’t wait to have surgery today!” I’m no different. But, how comforting it was for me to learn before Dr. Fein’s hands ever were involved with my eyes, they were also used in the performance of playing Chopin Noctornes on a Grand Piano. These are highly-functioning hands. That ain’t a bad thing to learn about your surgeon.
